I was just thinking yesterday that this will have to happen sooner or later, and wondering who might play it.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | October 27, 2016 1:23 AM |
The man who played Jimmy in The Wire, he'd play Savile. He played Fred West, he's not picky.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | October 27, 2016 1:26 AM |
I doubt anyone has enough guts to touch Savile's story. Can you imagine a scene of him fucking dead corpses?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | October 27, 2016 1:26 AM |
It would be 'suggested', with clever framing and shadows, R3.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | October 27, 2016 1:27 AM |
David Bowie and Iggy Pop's time in Germany.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | October 27, 2016 1:30 AM |
R4 You mean like in old movies, where romantic scenes abruptly ended with a close-up of the fireplace before things got too frisky (only it would probably be a close-up of a body bag in this case).

The upcoming Elvis one especially since it will be filmed at Graceland.

Mata Hari. Ages ago I read a bio (I think it was titled Femme Fatale) that was quite good. It could make a very atmospheric movie filled with Belle Epoque gorgeousness.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | October 27, 2016 11:48 PM |
Another Elvis movie? What's going to be the difference between this and all the others? Are they really going to in-depth with his decline and fall this time?

Rock Hudson. Yeah, I know there was a tv movie....but I'd like to see an HONEST biopic.

MICK JAGGER, BIANCA AND JERRY HALL starring HArry Styles, Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid.

Dusty Springfield. They've tried and failed multiple times, and both Kristin Chenoweth and Nicole Kidman were attached to it at different points. Nicole was too tall and vocally not even close, and Kristi Dawn sounds more like Snow White than Dusty. Vadge showed interest in it, but mercifully that never happened.

Richard Simmons. Oscar bait for Best Costume. Todd Haynes to direct.

Robert Blake is a good one

Gloria Swanson
Marilyn Miller (something more truer-to-life than what June Allyson appeared in)
Lauren Bacall

It's been done.

FREDDIE MERCURY.
NOT the squeaky-clean one that Queen has decided to mess up. Queen even fired Sasha Baron Cohen who would've been the perfect, naughty Freddie Mercury!

Clara Bow. From a wretched slum child, to the "It Girl" partying her way through 1920s Hollywood, to a cowboy's wife living on a ranch, to a schizophrenic living out her days in a mental hospital.
It could be the American non-musical "La Vie En Rose", if they could find the right actress to play Clara.

Vivian Vance, of course!

Frank Sinatra: whatever happened to Scorsese's announced biopic from a few years ago?
Judy Garland: same with this Harvey Weinstein produced AnnE Hathaway biopic. Still no updates. I heard rumors that Harvey sent out some of his minions to scout out location shooting in NYC, LA and Chicago (this was about 3-4 yrs ago) but then... nothing. Me and My Shadows was good, but not entirely accurate.

I was molested.

Randolph Scott and Cary Grant - the unexpurgated version.

Jeanne Eagels.
I'd also like a good biopic of Harlow, and not starring Gwen Stefani who was too terrible and hard faced to play her in the Aviator.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | October 28, 2016 7:14 PM |
There was a movie about Jeanne Eagels that came out in the late 50's. Obviously it must have been pretty forgettable.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | October 28, 2016 7:16 PM |
Connie Francis
by Anonymous | reply 50 | October 28, 2016 7:34 PM |
I'd wanna see one about Phyllis Hyman.
I also wouldn't mind watching films about "behind-the-scenes" of shows like Cheers, or What's My Line. I'm not talking about the unauthorized stories on television; I want to see moments from these shows replicated in these movies. It also wouldn't hurt to cast actors who actually look like the people they're portraying (and can act).

Miss Kay Lenz. It would be heartbreaking but inspiring. Great 70s clothes and music framing all her triumphs and tragedy. I think Emma Stone could do her justice.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | October 28, 2016 9:50 PM |
Alma Mahler. She was married to three prominent, influential men: Walter Gropius, Gustav Mahler, and Franz Werfel. Was it her magic pussy?
by Anonymous | reply 53 | October 28, 2016 10:48 PM |
R52 What did Kay Lenz do or what incredible thing happened to her that would justify a biopic?
by Anonymous | reply 54 | October 28, 2016 11:09 PM |
It's probably been done before, but since I don't remember: Rita Hayworth. Molested by her dad; given the Hollywood pluck 'n bleach build-up; interesting and/or sexy lovers and husbands; Alzheimer's...
But I can't think of anyone pretty enough to portray her.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | October 28, 2016 11:17 PM |
R55 Chris Colfer from Glee?
by Anonymous | reply 56 | October 28, 2016 11:25 PM |
Amy Adams gave it a try, but she's no Hayworth. Rita was a gorgeous woman. Amy often styles herself to look like her. Adams is a good actress though. She could play Rita in her long sad decline.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | October 28, 2016 11:40 PM |
Amy Adams couldn't play Rita Hayworth; Adams always comes across as fragile, and the role requires a warmth and earthiness she doesn't possess. Hair isn't enough.

Wasn't there a made for TV movie in the '80s with Lynda Carter as Rita Hayworth?
On a similar note, an Orson Welles biopic would be interesting
by Anonymous | reply 60 | October 29, 2016 12:37 AM |
Gorgeous Rita. There is an active thread on her now, and I know that hair is not enough, moron @ R58. Adams is a real actress you know? She was signed to play Janis Joplin, so she might have the earthiness and talent to play drunk Rita with Alzheimer's. If not, there's always Lindsay Lohan.

Ancient 80 year old queens have taken over the thread.

William Haines - Hollywood's first out gay star- when told by Louis B. Mayer to get rid of his boyfriend, Haines said he would if Mayer divorced his wife, too. His major movie career finished, he started a second fabulous career with an assist from close friends like Joan Crawford as an interior designer. If he watch his movies, he's great -- cute, funny and lots of vitality. He and his boyfriend were called the happiest couple in Hollywood.
