Breaking News: Bambi Woods of "Debbie Does Dallas" Fame is Alive!
The Rialto Report, the excellent podcast that features interviews with legendary adult film stars from the 1970s and beyond, posted the following on their website this week "Debbie Does Dallas"' also made a star out of the lead actress, Bambi Woods. The Rialto Report tracked down Bambi Woods recently but has not been able to secure an interview as of yet. We live in hope.
If anyone can persuade Ms. Woods to speak to them, it's the Rialto Report. I hope they can make it happen!

I would love to hear her story. She made only two movies - "Debbie Does Dallas" and "Debbie Does Dallas II" - became a huge sensation in the late 1970s, then literally disappeared off the face of the earth. I hope she ultimately decides to speak to the Rialto Report. She's got to be around 60 years old now and must have some good perspective around it all.

Some guy found out her real name years ago (Colleen something) and wrote a bad written E-book about it on Amazon. It had a recent photo of her too. He tried selling it to National Enquirer but they didn't wanna pay much, so he just put out the ebook. They confirmed his finding were legit.
The Rialto Report people are very good at finding porn people nearly everyone else couldn't. They've found Woods, Lisa De Leeuw (long rumored to be dead), and Desiree Cousteau but they're currently not willing to give interviews. They talked the very elusive Jennifer Welles into an interview. She cut off all contact with people in porn and had even changed her name and they still managed to track her down.

R2 I love the Rialto Report. I don't know how they manage to find so many of these people, but they do a great job and their interviews are always in-depth and really fascinating. I read that they've also located Leslie Bovee, who's become very religious and doesn't want to talk about her past career, but they're still working on convincing her to speak with them. They're also apparently working on a big piece about the late "straight for pay" star, Wade Nichols. They managed to find his brother, who's provided them with a lot of information on Wade's life.
I'd love to hear more about Nichols - a gay man who found fame in straight porn and who eventually ended up with a hit disco song and a major role on The Edge of Night soap opera! Talk about an unusual career trajectory!

I remember reading an article where she did a telephone interview and was a married suburban mom. The interview read as very friendly and her story was not a complicated one. She did two movies and moved on.
I think Kristine Debelle [html removed] from the x-rated Alice in Wonderland is a sought after one hit phenom also.

R4 They actually have an interview with Kristine DeBell in a piece about the making of Alice in Wonderland. It's not an audio interview, unfortunately. It's a written interview, but she does talk about how she came to be cast in the movie and her experiences making it.

Bovee is probably a long shot. I've seen her facebook and she is very religious it seems (and republican - ugh). She's been battling cancer (first breast and then bone cancer) for a while now and in her most recent photos looks like she's had major facial reconstruction surgery. Her husband also died a few years back. She hasn't had an easy life in recent years.
It would be great for them do a write up on Wade Nichols life. He was a great actor and by all accounts a very nice guy too.

R6 April Hall of The Rialto Report has had a long-time fascination with Wade Nichols, so I know she'll put together a great report on him.
I remember seeing an interview with Erik Edwards, another major star of the golden age, where he talked about making the movie "Love You" with Annette Haven, Leslie Bovee, and Wade Nichols. John Derek, the director and write of the movie (yes, Bo's husband), wrote a scene that required Eric and Wade to wrestle each other in the nude. Erik said both he and Wade were uncomfortable about doing the scene, and he said that he felt Wade was especially uncomfortable, since he was gay and worried about how Erik would feel about doing the scene with him.
Erik said he and Wade discussed how they would approach the scene and they ultimately decided to go all in and make the scene as realistic as possible, which helped them get over their unease with it. Erik said Wade was completey respectful and never stepped over any lines during the scene. Erik had a lot of respect for Wade as a person and as an actor.

R10 Richard Bolla (aka Robert Kerman) played Mr. Greenfield, the only guy Bambi Woods has sex with in the movie. He was actually a "legitimate" actor. He was in the Goodbye Girl, albeit in a small role.

R2 The Rialto Report also interviewed Jeff Stryker a couple of years ago. He didn't seem all that bright, but he did seem to be a genuinely nice guy. I like the way the Rialto Report manages to bring out the "real" people behind these stars' porn personas.
The interview with Jennifer Welles was great.

R9 I'd rather not post it because she's tried her best to stay out of the spotlight and has had lots of troubles like I mention earlier. Who knows who might see this posting and start bugging her which she doesn't need. I'll post a photo or two from it of what she looks like now if you want though.
Bolla is a very good actor. Mainstream good. He hasn't had the easiest time of it either. He's been ill (diabetic) and has been in a nursing home for the last 6 months.

Candy's interview was sad. Alzheimer's is a brutal, evil disease. It's good that she's in good spirits despite everything. Makes things easier for both her and her caregiver. It's good that she has someone looking after her after being taken advantage of by loser boyfriends and husbands.
Jennifer Welles seems like a very fun person. She seems to regret stepping out of the spotlight but she did what she thought would be best for her by marrying the wealthy fan.

Desiree was very pretty but kinda nutty back then. She had a fued with Annette Haven (who also kinda nutty) because she thought Annette Haven was after her husband. Follow Annette on facebook to see nearly constant drama. She's smart, but is offended very easily and often goes off on fans. She's dished about a lot of her co-stars and movies also.

Both Eric Edwards and Paul Thomas were signed to the William Morris Agency before they were in porn. Thomas came from a wealthy family, so he didn't really need to do porn, he just wanted to. R60 That sounds like her, not sure she's coked out though, she does talk very fast sometimes. She could be a huge pain on sets. There were times where she would demand a full body make-up job and once had a big meltdown when she had a small blemish on her face and only Kay Parker could calm her down. But she knew she could get away with it, her movies always sold well.

Haven became ill during one scene with Eric Edwards (according to her, she has some digestive disorder since she was child where she has to be on antibiotics all the time to keep from dying) and Veronica Hart was nice enough to fill in for the close up shots and a rude Haven had to point out you could tell it wasn't her because Hart had cellulite.

R68 The closest to anything gay on film for Eric Edwards was his nude wrestling scene with Wade Nichols in "Love You." Although it's more homoerotic than actually gay.

R69 Haven posted that on Facebook when talking about that movie. I'm blanking on which one it was. Veronica said she wasn't rude to her because she wasn't threatened by her like she by some others like Desiree Cousteau. And yes, Hart is a much better actress than Haven. I don't know why people often name her as one of the best actresses in porn, she almost always played the same type of roles and scenes, a variance of an classy, ice princess.
I have to admit I'd like to hear a Rialto Report with her though, I don't think she'd hold anything back and it certainly would be interesting. I kinda doubt it will happen since she demands to be paid for everything what she feels she's worth. I'm not sure if they pay their interview subjects or not.

R71 Haven was an okay actress - probably a cut above many of the actresses of that era - but she wasn't great. It was her beauty that made her iconic. I agree - a Rialto Report interview with her would be fun. I have to imagine they've reached out to her, since she's not hiding, but she probably had diva-like demands. I do believe the Rialto Report pays the stars for their interviews, but I don't think it's a lot of money, and I'm sure whatever they would offer would be way too low for Haven.

I saw a part of a John Leslie movie (I think) once and it was incredibly hot. I've tried to find the video but don't know the title. Helen/Dolly's story sounds like a downbeat sequel to Gypsy ("Whatever Happened to Agnes/Amanda?").
It's very sad to see her very real talents on display in the teailer for "Give a Girl a Break" with Marge Champion and Debbie Reynolds. Some twenty years later, she was offering her ass for $25.
It probably would have upset her greatly that her imdb name is Dolly Sharp, with her legit credits are follwed by "as Helen Wood". One would laugh at her naivete today but her bad wigs and unremarkable stag films might have kept the two careers separate if she'd never appeared in Deep Throat.

R111 Debbie Does Dallas was released at the height of the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders craze, so it capitalized on the fantasies of many horny straight dudes who lusted after those jiggling girls on Sunday afternoons. Also, the film was brilliant in that the title implied its nubile blonde star would be doing everything and everybody in sight, which got a ton of people to plunk down their cash. But it was actually a big tease, because Debbie doesn't even have sex until the end of the movie. So horny guys with cheerleader fantasies went to the theater and stayed through the whole movie just so they could finally see cute little Debbie get nailed.
Brilliant marketing and brilliant timing for an otherwise run of the mill porn movie.

Georgina Spelvin and Wade Nichols are especially great in the movie, and even though it's a comedy, the ending is very touching, thanks to Georgina's and Nichols' excellent portrayals.

[quote]Eric Edwards is one of the hottest classic porn stars. Such a shame he never did anything gay onscreen.
He did a scene in Midnight Desire where he takes a strap on. Rialto actually asked if it was stunt butt since you don't really see his face in the shots and he said it was him and almost seemed surprised they would ask. He said he did it because the actress he was with was such a turn on. They also asked if he was ever asked to do gay porn and he said no.
When Dolly Sharp started doing one day "Loops" porn was really underground. The loops were shown in 25 cent machines in sex stores. The so called movies were shown on sheets in back of porn stores. She thought no one would ever see them or if they did would never admit to be a pervert in a porn shop.. She didn't pay attention to the industry and just showed up and did her job. When "Deep Throat" hit was was horrified and humiliated.
Jamie Gillis was bi and fucked anything that moved but made more money in the straight films. He made another gay one called "Manhold" in 3D! It's considered a lost film. They don't strike hundreds of prints of these films so the few made were probably thrown away when the porn theaters started closing. It played for two months at the Adonis In NY in Jan of '78

R130 Jamie Gillis also gets a blow job from a man in the straight movie "The Story of Joanna."

Do we think the porn star of the 70's, the true beginning of the genre were less damaged or more than the one today? The porn today is so much raunchier and abusive. Seems like it would be a difficult to survive and stay sane today but there is less of a stigma.

Now Carol Connors would be an interesting interview subject. But she seems to have no interest in talking about her porn career these days. Her daughter, mainstream actress Thora Birch is not impressed with her parents porn career. Some interviewer asked her about it a few years ago and she didn't want to talk about it. Jack Birch was one of the guys who did Dolly Sharp in Deep Throat during the orgy scene. He had a great body, but a smallish dick for porn and an although not really bad looking face, had very craggy facial skin. He was a control freak over Thora and her career and played a big part in ruining her career.

R132 There were many damaged porn stars back in the "golden age." A lot had problems with drugs and/or alcohol, and many of them are no longer with us. The major stars, however, like Veronica Hart, Annette Haven, John Leslie, Richard Pacheco, seemed to be more grounded and professional in their approach to the industry. These were real actors with roles to perform, unlike the "stars" of today who simply take off their clothes and fuck while the video cameras run.

R81 After retiring from acting, John Leslie directed a series of films called "The Voyeur." A lot of the scenes often featured male-male-female threesomes that were extremely homoerotic. I remember seeing one where the guys were all entwined in each other and I swear they were gonna end up kissing! Leslie definitely knew what turned men and women on and he captured the sexual tension and eroticism expertly.

I once saw an interview with him about a movie he made in the 1980s called "Mirage," and the interviewer noted how good Edwards was at photographing and highlighting the beauty of both male and female bodies. Edwards noted that the movies he directed were meant to appeal to couples, so he made sure to cast actors that would turn on both men and women.

R190 "Deranged" was a valiant mainstream effort by Chuck Vincent - a variation on Roman Polanski's "Repulsion." It's not a great movie, but the performances are fantastic, especially by Veronica Hart, who masterfully handled a role that would be a tremendous challenge for any actress. Jamie Gillis and Jerry Butler were also excellent in their parts. I loved that Chuck Vincent used his best adult genre actors for his mainstream efforts.
Veronica Hart is a terrific actress. "Amanda by Night" and "Wand Whips Wall Street" are two of my favorites. And I was happily surprised to see her show up as a family court judge in "Boogie Nights." A true talent.

I wasn't a big fan of Deranged. I like both Veronica (who was great in it) and Chuck's work, but didn't like the way the movie was constructed and the pacing. It seemed to drag on.
My favorite movie of Chuck and Veronica's is Cleo/Leo. Veronica gets to show off her comedic chops with a little bit drama in there too. It's much better than the similar Ellen Barkin/Jimmy Smits movie Switch that came out a few years afterwards.
I love Amanda By Night. Veronica, R. Bolla, Jamie Gillis, and Lisa De Leeuw are great in it. Samantha Fox is ok too, but preferred her more in some of her others works.

R192 "Cleo/Leo" was pretty funny. I loved watching Veronica Hart lumber along like a Jersey guido and smoke a cigar. She really is a gifted actress. Ginger Lynn was good in that one, too.
Too bad Chuck Vincent passed away so young. He could've successfully brought Hart and other adult stars into the mainstream permanently.
by Anonymous | reply 193 | October 13, 2016 1:32 PM

Yes, Chuck would hire the more competent adult stars that could do a good job for his R-rated fims opposed to more expensive SAG actors that sometimes weren't all the great to begin with and had attitudes. He had a bad experience with a largely SAG cast on Preppies, also had various SAG fines, he mostly used the adult stars and other non-SAG actors he was familiar with without the drama from then on.
He was really bad at the business side of film making though. He ended up losing the rights to all of his R-rated movies, and sometimes sold them to more than one distributor, so it's hard to tell who legally owns them these days. That's why most of them have never had restored DVD releases.
by Anonymous | reply 194 | October 13, 2016 2:07 PM

R194 A lot of adult film directors weren't great when it came to business. I just watched a documentary about sexploitation filmmaker Joe Sarno, who wrote and directed hundreds of softcore and hardcore films from the 1960s through the 1990s. But at the end of his life, he and his wife were practically broke, and his wife explained it's because Joe never negotiated any rights to his films. So he'd get paid as a writer and director, but that was it. The producers and distributors would make all the money from the sales and rentals of the films, and all Joe basically had was his writing and directing fees. Had he owned any rights to his films, he'd have been a multi-millionaire. Such a shame.

R195 Mostly the producers and distributors got rich. Directors and the Actors just got flat fees for their work. It's sad seeing so many barely getting by in their older years, many not good enough health to work or turned down for jobs due to their ages.

Sarno put out a lot of good movies in the 70s. It's too bad his movies were so bad or mediocre after that though. One star who worked on some of his shot on video movies said that he didn't seem to care about the quality of them and didn't have the best attitude at that time.

[quote]Sarno put out a lot of good movies in the 70s. It's too bad his movies were so bad or mediocre after that though. One star who worked on some of his shot on video movies said that he didn't seem to care about the quality of them and didn't have the best attitude at that time.
Not true. watch the documentary "A Life in Dirty Movies ", he cared very much. He always considered himself a film maker. He grew up in Amityville Long Island but he went to Sweden to make "Inga" in a more sexually progressive place and he ended up with a huge hit in the states. His wife's family was loaded and they kept them afloat. She is a great broad and reminded me of Suzanne Pleshette. He also directed Jennifer Welles last movie "Inside Jennifer Welles" although the distributor credited Jennifer as director.

Speaking of Zebedy Colt, he gave one of the most frightening and realistic performances in "Sex Wish", a porn take off on "Death Wish." He played the (gay) rapist in love with Harry Reems and his babbling during the rape scenes are completely unnerving.

Watch some of Sarno's movies from the 80s, the latter half especially. They were movies shot in a day or two and weren't as nearly as good as the ones he made in the 70s. But you can't put the full blame on him because most of the good actors had either retired or moved to California to make movies at that point. So did many of the good directors. Watching most NY made movies after say 1985 isn't an easy task.

Harry could be pretty good in certain types of roles. He once said he learned to stay within in his acting range after he did a play where he took a complex role he wasn't suited for while he was on hiatus from porn. I think he would've been good Grease if he had been cast in role of the Coach as was originally planned.

He'd also require aspiring male talent audition to jerk off to competition, telling them it was prove they could cum under pressure while he recorded them. He would use this footage in his movies. And he often wouldn't hire the men who did this. He got this cumshot footage for free.

It's standard behavior to jerk off to competition when auditioning so they don't spend the time and money on set during production. If you can't do it in an office in front of a stranger, chances are you will waste everyone's time in front of a whole crew on set. I know the World Modeling Agency would pay the audtioner $25.

R210 He was a director and producer. He was directing that particular movie with Veronica (Seka was the star of those movies, the footage from that shoot was made into 3 or 4 movies). She was brand new to making porn, and was doing a scene with Zebedy Colt, who was having performance issues since he is pretty much totally gay. Kirtman asked Veronica if she's like the scene to finish and she said "I don't know, I guess" and he proceeded without saying anything else, bent her over and fucked her briefly and pulled out and came on her. She said she felt like total shit after that and it was the only time she felt abused during her time as a performer.

In the comments on that latest piece on DDD, they said they're currently interviewing one of the other Cheerleaders. I'm guessing it's Merle Michaels (the cheerleader spanked in the library by the old guy) since she apparently kept in touch with the late Candida Royalle and was said to have positive feelings about her career in porn. She also did a lot of other movies, including several for Chuck Vincent. She wasn't the prettiest, but had some acting skills and seemed to enjoy the sex.
They also confirmed old guy in the movie, Jake Teague, is still alive despite IMDb saying he died in 1983. He's currently 89 years old and possibly the oldest living porn star. He's one year older than Candy Samples.

I hope they do an article on the late David Morris. He was in Debbie Does Dallas also as one of the Football Jocks and was very good looking back then. He looked a bit like Tony Danza, especially in his infamous pool table scene with Marilyn Chambers in Insatiable. That led to the rumor Danza did porn. He was one that fell in to drug addiction, and contracted Hep C from his heroin use. He did a few gay movies and loops earlier in his career when he looked good, but did several after he got out of shape and always looked tired and sweaty near the end of his career. He ended up dying in Florida in 1999 of a overdose.

They said they interviewed the late Andrea True before she died and that they will be putting up eventually. It would be interesting to hear that one, she avoided talking about her porn career after she achieved some success in the music industry. Although More, More, More was the only real hit she had. She was on one of those VH1 one shows about one hit wonders back in 2002 and said she wanted to be remembered as a person who "gave people pleasure - with my music."

Excuse the interruption, but I checked out this thread because I couldn't fathom who'd be interested in posting (247 total replies!) about some flash-in-the-pan straight porn actress. As far as I can tell from skimming through the posts, most of the discussion is about female porn actresses, with a smattering of old timey gay porn dudes. I have no idea who any of these people were/are.
Obviously, this thread appeals to some of the older folks here on DL, and surprisingly, many of the posters are female. Considering that this is a gay forum, I'm sincerely curious to know what was your fascination with straight porn of the 70s, and even moreso, your desire to know the life stories of some of these porn actors who seem to be rather obscure and unknown by most people nowadays. Does it stem from a sense of nostalgia for the era? Are some (most) of you the same crowd that hangs around in the soap threads, possibly for the same reason? I'm not being snarky, I'm genuinely curious.
One thing I did glean from this thread is the existence of the "Rialto Report." I'll have to check it out. Thanks.

R248 I'm not technically a DL eldergay yet (not even 40 yet). But you'd be surprised at the number of younger people into retro porn. Most who were in grade school or not even born yet when they originally released that have discovered these movies online and enjoy them. Some turned out way better than should have considering the limited budget and time they had to film them. Many of the stars back then were interesting back then too. I bet you won't see very many modern porn stars being discussed decades from now.

A lot of '70s porn performers were genuinely sexually adventurous and did it because it was fun, not because they were desperate to fund their next drug fix.

I'm a gay guy and when I was growing up in NY. I was a movie freak and as a ten year would scour the Daily News or Post movie sections daily. That's how I learned about it. But I was a good decade away from ever seeing them. In those days it was no one under 21 allowed to see hard core. But I was way before puberty so I had no interest in the sex,. They were just movies, playing on the big screen and in every town's Main Street Theater. I remember so innocently looking at the "All Male Cast" ads and wondering if they were war movies where most of the cast were guys. Clueless, I know.

I didn't think Constance Money came off well at times in her interview, either. I didn't believe her allegations against Radley Metzger, they were too far fetched, and his had a good rep except for being cheap with what he payed the actors.
Interestingly the one anti-porn star they interviewed, Michelle Maren (who had a very short career in porn) came off pretty well for the most part. But she couldn't even give an example where she was abused in porn. The worst thing she could say was the sludgy beef stew they fed them on one set. I felt bad for her and the other real abuse she had growing up and mental illness she suffered with.
I also don't think Sharon Mitchell and Hyapatia Lee were the most honest in their interviews. Both have been accused of being dishonest in the past, and people who were connected to Hyapatia said she not only knew about the faking her death scheme to bilk fans out of money, she came up with the idea herself. Her ex husband Bud Lee got the word out that it was all a hoax pretty fast.

Here is a young Zebedy Colt as a child actor back in the mid 1930s. He was said to have been proud of his entire career, both mainstream and porn. He kept scrapbooks and would show them to those who visited him. It's too bad he never got to be interviewed before he died.

Kevin worked pretty much non-stop in the early 80s. He was in seemingly in every other straight porn loop and magazine. Mike Ranger (who got Kevin into porn - they were neighbors and became friends) once joked that Kevin was taking all his work. After Mike retired and married Loni Sanders, they had to write out his character out of the Taboo series and cast Kevin as the new young stud being seduced by his mother, played by Honey Wilder starting in part 2.

R307 I'm loving all these pictures and memories of Wade Nichols! For the longest time, information about his life was so sparse. It's nice to see all this information surfacing through the Interenet.
As far as the rumors of him killing himself, I think someone on the Rialto Report dispelled that rumor, and it may have been Nichols' brother who confirmed that he was hospitalized at the time of his death. The suicide story may have been concocted to cover up his AIDS death, since AIDS was such a taboo subject to discuss back in 1985.

R316 Oh, so sexy! Years ago, the Playboy Channel had a game show that was a kind of a cross between Hollywood Squares and strip poker. There was a panel of celebrities, and two contestants (one male and one female) would answer questions posed by the celebrities. Each time a contestant got a question wrong, they would have to remove an article of clothing. Whoever had the most clothes remaining at the end of the show would win.
One episode of the show featured Ginger Lynn and Kevin James as the contestants. Thankfully, Kevin James lost and ended up in nothing but a silver thong. I think I fell in love with him when I saw him on that show. He was so hot!

R309 Wade Nichols' life would make an incredible move. Think about it - a gay goes to New York to be an actor. Does some nude modeling photo shoots, does some gay-oriented layout work, does a gay porn movie (Boynapped), but becomes a straight porn movie star. Has a romance with Jacques Morali, gets a record deal and puts out an album with a couple of minor disco hits (Like an Eagle, New York by Night), gets a major role on a popular soap opera and goes "legit," then dies tragically at just 38 years of age.

R325 Thanks for the additional information. I can't wait for the Rialto Report to finish and publish the piece on Wade Nichols so all the mysteries can be cleared up.
I'm inclined to believe Wade Nichols didn't commit suicide. He died in 1985, when AIDS was still a "new" disease and wasn't fully understood. Back then, obituaries never mentioned that anyone died of AIDS - it was either "after a long illness" or there was no mention of a cause of death at all. Being as Wade Nichols was so young when he died and had achieved a certain degree of celebrity, it wouldn't surprise me that the suicide story would be the explanation for his death.

A Wade Nichols story would make a great movie. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't die he would've continued to get legit acting roles. He was that good as an actor. Plus the male stars were given more opportunity for roles in legit than the women, even if they weren't that good as actors (see Sonny Landham and Roger Caine). The women would often have to settle or bit parts or have to be nude or playing roles like hookers or strippers.

R328 I agree that Wade Nichols would have gone on to more mainstream roles (provided his porn past didn't catch up with him). He was superb in the movie "Take Off," playing a character from the 1920s through the 1970s - that would be a challenging role for any accomplished actor. It's so sad that he died so young. 38 years old. God, that's like a kid!

R318 Buck had a nice body and was well-liked by his peers in porn. It seemed like the women also liked him a lot also, because he was frequently dating women in the business. Unfortually, I heard he was not the most open minded about gay people. His years of drug abuse led to the heart attack (the last of several) that killed him. His sister Amber Lynn can be a nasty bitch a lot of the time. Most people in the biz only put up with her because her stuff sold well. She looks like a transsexual these days since she's had so much plastic surgery on her face.
Sean Michaels has aged well. I'm guessing his work is getting sparse since he's been doing cuckold movies.

That totally turned me against her (wasn't a fan of hers before that, though).

R358 This interview is uncomfortable to watch. She definitely looks strung out, and she has a kind of drug-induced twitch that she keeps making with her head. And if you watch at the 4:40 point, after she says she paid her friend back, she kind of zones out for a few seconds like she's remembering something bad or sad. Then she says she wasn't very comfortable in her sex scene. Seems like it was a very traumatic experience for her.
I'm glad to know she's still alive. After watching this interview, I wouldn't have been surprised to have found out drugs had killed her.

R359 You are right about porn being so different these days, but you'd be surprised how plain or rough looking many of the female porn stars from today look without a through make-up job. There was a porn make-up artist that took a bunch of before and after shots of many of them. The porn stars were very mad about them ending up online because the make-up artist told them it was for her portfolio and didn't think it was going to be published online.
If you google porn stars no make-up you should find it.

R360 I wondered if she owed the friend money for drugs or something. She's probably one of the people who should've never done porn, but couldn't turn down the quick, easy money. After she did Debbie Does Dallas part 2 in 1981, she was supposed to have agreed to help promote it, make appearances and such, but she backed out and disappeared so had to have one of the other women in the movie do it instead.

R362 I recently watched Debbie Does online; I hadn't seen it in ages. Bambi Woods is absolutely dreadful in it. Poor girl couldn't act to save her life, and it's obvious she wasn't enthusiastic about being in the film. Her one sex scene is indeed uncomfortable. I wouldn't be surprised if she owed her friend money for drugs and doing the movie was an easy way for her to get the cash she needed.
That's part of the reason why I hope the Rialto Report can get her to consent to an interview. I'd love to know just what motivated her to do the movie, how she felt about it, how she got out of the business without leaving a trace, and how she reinvented herself. Then again, I can understand her not wanting to revisit what was probably a very dark period in her life.

But it's likely he would have gone no further in the mainstream. As mass media grew, his porn work would have come back to haunt him.
Porn had a certain daring in the 70s and early 80s. But videotape and AIDS changed that. It became merely sordid.
Traci Lords was able to move on somewhat because she was underage when she did porn. She could be "forgiven".

Traci was very shrewd and ambitious. The underage porn star thing got her foot in the door and she took it and ran with it. Daytime drama is a hell of a lot different than movies or prime time, especially during the '70s. He could have had some small parts. Dennis Parker, 38, actor, who for the last five years played Police Chief Derek Mallory on the ABCTV soap opera "Edge Of Night," died Jan. 28 in New York after a brief illness. t Born in Manhattan, Parker grew up in Freeport, Long Island. He attended the Philadelphia Museum College of Art, where he concentrated on pottery and furniture design and had his first taste of acting when, while still a student, he won a role in a touring company production of "The Trojan Women." After graduating, he returned to his native New York and studied acting at New York U. and the H. B. Studio. t Parker was also an accomplished singer and instrumentalist, and several years ago toured Europe on behalf of an album he made for the Casablanca label. t He was an avid animal lover, and devoted a great deal of time working in their behalf. t Survivors include his mother and brother.

R396 sorry I'm not an eldergay and you seem a tad obsessed with an obscure porn actor who died over 30 years ago that had some very minor acting success, playing a unmemorable recurring small part on a long forgotten soap opera. No one in porn has ever had lasting success in mainstream entertainment and that success for the most part was based on them doing porn, they were/are a novelty.

Jennifer Welles says she's a normal, church-going lady nowadays, and then you scroll down and see her posing in some ugly Walmart holding up bras and panties. It just seems so sad.
Judging by her frequent crying in the interview, she's still got a lot of demons that haunt her. She regrets marrying that guy for his money and leaving her career and independence in NYC. I felt sorry for her after listening to the interview.

R408 She was having some fun in the pictures taken at Walmart. She probably lives in a small town where nothing much happens.
I think much of the crying she did during the interview was from remembering good things and sadness at people that were no longer around (some of the people she worked with, her ex husband Marry Duran). It was the first time she had talked about this stuff in decades. She does seem to regret leaving the spotlight to marry the wealthy guy, but at that time she was in her mid 40s, so who knows how much of a career she might have had in the future. Plus the guy dumped her not long after for a younger model and she doesn't seem to have much money anymore. Reflecting on stuff like that would probably make most people emotional.

R391 Chuck Traynor was a horrific person. How many lives did this guy ruin? I saw him interviewed in an E! documentary about Linda Lovelace. He just oozed slime.
by Anonymous | reply 411 | October 16, 2016 1:57 PM
|
Traynor moved on to another woman to use called "Bo" who was mainly a stripper and did some nude modeling. She never came close to the fame Lovelace and Chambers achieved though. She was still married to him when he died.
While Traynor is undoubtedly a scumbag, and I don't doubt he beat her, Lovelace lied about a lot of things. She was not forced to at gunpoint to do Deep Throat and she did do several loops before that (including a few with a DOG!). She changed her stories several times over the years. Funny she ended up posing for a porn magazine and signing porn merchandise at conventions shortly before she died after decrying it for so long.
by Anonymous | reply 412 | October 16, 2016 5:02 PM
|
R412 I never believed Linda Lovelace was "forced" to do porn, and I never believed Traynor held a gun to her head while she performed. Eric Edwards, who was her first loop partner (and who was there for the infamous "dog" scene), has said in many interviews that she enjoyed doing the loops and that it was Linda herself who contacted Eric and asked him to do additional loops with her.
I do think Traynor had some control over her, and I do believe there was an abusive relationship, but I don't think she was held captive or that she couldn't get away. I think she was very young and troubled when she did porn and over the years came to regret her early decisions. When feminist groups and Gloria Steinem rallied around her in the 1980s, I think she was influenced to tell the tale of the victimized woman and to denounce the porn industry. It definitely sold books. In a way, the feminist movement used Linda the same way Chuck Traynor did. The fact that she returned to posing semi-nude and re-embracing her Linda Lovelace persona in her later years was very telling.
I do feel bad that Linda Lovelace had such a difficult life and tragic end, but she I think if she had been honest and owned her choices, she would have had more respect from the public in her later years. The movie "Lovelace" got most everything wrong about her life. I hope one day the real story can be told.
That said, I think Chuck Traynor was indeed scum who used women and saw them nothing more than meat to be sold to a mass audience for his own financial gratification.

Anyone remember Ron Hudd? He had an enormous porn-stache and was a terrible actor, but was sexy in a 1970s kind of way. He was pretty prolific from the late 70s to the late 80s, then completely disappeared off the face of the earth after 1985. Would love to know if he's still alive and what became of him.

The anti-porn feminist threw Linda to the side once they got all they needed from her. They exploited her more than porn did.
I think she was a lost soul, so shifted shape to fit in where ever she could. I think she was bitter she couldn't parlay her fame from Deep Throat. She did a play after Deep Throat that bombed and her performance was panned. She had a hard life and had several health issues over the years, including from silicone injections into her breasts after Deep Throat.

R432 There were many stars over the years that have been mistakenly credited under their real names in the movies they did. I'm sure sometimes it was someone reading the model releases wrong. R436 Eric Edwards is credited under his real name, Rob Everett, in the movie "Love You." Edwards thinks John Derek did that on purpose to "out" his identity, since Derek didn't like him.

R437 Interesting that Derek didn't like Edwards (who is seemingly universally liked by everyone who knew/knows him personally) yet was friends with Annette Haven (who it was usually the other way around).
by Anonymous | reply 438 | October 16, 2016 10:04 PM

R438 Edwards and Derek had disagreements about how the movie should be shot; Edwards talks about it in is Rialto Report interview. In addition, Derek was very mean to Leslie Bovee and told her to keep her top on because he thought she had ugly breasts (if you watch the movie, you'll see she keeps her top on in most scenes). This upset Leslie Bovee very much, so Edwards cozied up and had sex with her in his sleeping bag that night. Derek was upset that this happened, since he wanted Edwards to save the sex for the cameras. They bumped heads for the remainder of the filming.

R439 Edwards also said that he thought one reason Derek made the movie was so that he could have a threesome with Bo and Annette Haven. Edwards never knew if that actually happened, though. Edwards also suspected Derek included the nude wrestling scene with Edwards and Nichols because that was also a homoerotic fantasy of Derek's.

Eric is working on an autobiography with a female writer now. His memory isn't as great as it once was though (he is 70 after all), but is trying to get it finished up. He wasn't happy with the one he did with Linda Williams that came out long ago, but didn't really get a wide release.
by Anonymous | reply 443 | October 16, 2016 11:16 PM

R442 Edwards thinks Derek chose he and Nichols for the roles primarily for their acting abilities, but he also knew Derek was looking for people with good bodies, and Edwards and Nichols fit the bill. There may have been subliminal physical attraction on the part of Derek, which may have added to the tension.
To Edwards' credit, he said that in spite of his conflicts with Derek, he thought the movie turned out very beautifully and that once he saw the finished product, he finally understood what Derek was trying to achieve.
by Anonymous | reply 444 | October 16, 2016 11:24 PM

Also, Edwards said the nude wrestling scene he did with Wade Nichols was very lengthy, and that he and Nichols really did get into the wrestling. Derek significantly edited the scene for the final print of the film because it got a little "too edgy." So what you see in the movie has been cut down tremendously. Would love to see the unedited footage!

by Anonymous | reply 449 | October 17, 2016 12:25 AM

When porn moved out of the theaters and onto VHS and DVD, it was no longer about trying to create something that would draw people to the movies. Now that porn could be viewed at home, it just became about the sex. Film production died, video production took over, budgets were slashed. It no longer took a lot of money and production to simply video people having sex. Nowadays, porn is more like the early days of the "loops." The "golden age" is gone.
by Anonymous | reply 450 | October 17, 2016 12:31 AM

Porn is going downhill even more precipitously thanks to the various tube sites. You spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars to make a porno and some dink uploads it to Pornhub and soon thousands of people have downloaded it for free.
The tube sites, mostly notably Pornhub, have 48 hours to remove the video after the copyright notice is sent. That 48 hours is the reason sites like Pornhub survive.
Porn is dying as a result.

They do a lot of research too. More than some regular "news" outlets these days. I think the main reason many of the stars from back then will speak to them, is that will absolutely not give their contact information to anyone. One director from back then was looking for an actress (who they had interviewed) he directed is several movies and knew her very well and they wouldn't give him her contact info.

It wasn't even VCR's that killed porn. They killed them being shown in theaters. It was the emergence of the vidcams that did it. It's not just the video cameras, there was a period after Deep Throat when these movies were as much sex ed movies for adults as anything. People went to them to see how to do oral sex on a woman, give a blowjob, or see people fucking in something besides the missionary position. It was really no different than a generation of teenagers going to the Beach Party movies or watching American Bandstand to learn how to dance the twist.
It couldn't last though. After half a dozen porn movies they lost that mainstream audience and never got it back.
by Anonymous | reply 458 | October 17, 2016 11:33 AM

R458 I don't think porn really ever went "mainstream," although there was that brief period with movies like Deep Throat and The Devil in Miss Jones when the curiosity factor was high and audiences beyond the "raincoat crowd" went to the theaters to see these movies. I think this actually energized the adult industry; production values got better, actual actors were cast in roles, and skilled directors began making films (including mainstream directors working under aliases). Though the ultimate goal for some in the industry may have been to bring adult entertainment into the mainstream, I think most realized the industry would remain on the fringe. But with the advent of home video and inexpensive camera equipment, the "sophisticated" adult industry died. We'll never know what it could have been.

R492 There are times were she's not having some type of drama, but she seems to make a big deal about small things often. It's like a train wreck. She often complains about her estranged husband in various ways, like how he won't be certain bills he agreed on, how he just wanted to be "Mr. Haven", about how tried running her over with his car, and so on. She complains that people are not to pm her again, she's not going to blow out her shoulder again. And then there are the times when she goes berserk on fans. Don't dare call her work porn. She doesn't like the porn industry and the nearly all the people in it, she considers them trash.
R493 The probably did record it, but they just didn't post it in audio form because he wasn't one of the well known stars and they also has quite a bit of photos of his to present to accompany it. I think they record all of the full length interviews they do.

Bobby died in 2002 after a long bout with cancer. I don't believe The Rialto Report folks got to interview him before that. He was a strange looking little guy. But didn't mind seeing him naked on screen for some reason.

In her day she was a true standout cut blonde. Nowadays with the thousands and thousands of girls who have invaded the pron industry seeking fame and fortune, some super attractive, others, not so much, Bambi Woods would hardly stand out today against the many of the hotties a viewer has to choose from.

R501 Bobby Astyr actually had a pretty tight, lean body. Kinda sexy. He was in a long-term relationship with porn actress Samantha Fox, and she was his caregiver when he got ill. She said she became a recluse after his death. No one's heard much from her in a while.

Bobby played the kooky, off beat characters well.
I don't think Samantha was all that much in touch with others even before Bobby died. She stayed in contact with a few people from the porn industry over the years. I used to exchange with one person who kept in touch with her, and they said that Samantha was more bitter about the lack of money she made, in contrast to all the money people in the biz had made off of her. She's not as bitter otherwise as some claim she is. The people who made the Jack Wrangler doc convinced her to give an on-screen in interview. She looked pretty good still, older of course, but still like herself. You can see more of the interview on youtube.
Don't know if she granted The Rialto Report folks an interview or not. If it happened, I'm surprised it hasn't been posted yet. She was a big star and has an interesting story to tell.

R503 Veronica Hart says she appeared with Samantha Fox and other female pornstars on a talk show once, and Hart was shocked by how bitter Samantha Fox was about the time she spent in the industry. After the show, Veronica Hart talked to her and told her she had no idea she had been hurting so much and asked her why she never opened up about it. Samantha Fox didn't really answer, and the two have rarely spoken since.

R505 I have heard about that talk show appearance. It was around 20 years ago it aired. Veronica felt ambushed and had no idea of Samantha's feelings. I think she had a lot of stressful stuff going on in her life and that time and Bobby had been ill, so she was very miserable at that time. She did grant AVN an interview in 2001 when she was inducted into their hall of fame and wrote them a letter after Bobby died along with the Wrangler doc interview. But she did not participate in the Roommates interview intended for the remastered DVD release that Veronica and Kelly Nichols did do. Here's a link to the outtakes from the Jack Wrangler dog were she is mostly positive in her interview. She credits porn for saving her from potentially life on the streets and maybe even death. However she doesn't seem to like the direction the industry took. She first appears at 11 minutes in and can be seen a few different times throughout the rest.
R506 I would've never guessed that was her if she wasn't identified. She looks much older than her age and very hard. I can't help but wonder how that happened. Lots of drugs or maybe was seriously ill?

R505 She looks great in that interview - very healthy! And based on the interview, it sounds like her time away from the industry gave her an opportunity to reflect on her experience. She does come across very positive, and I like that she spoke especially nicely of Chuck Vincent; I've read nothing but wonderful things about him from everyone who worked with him. Hell, even that cuckoo Jerry Butler wrote in his autobiography that he loved Chuck so much he wished he could have given himself to Chuck sexually.
Samantha sounds very level headed and seems to have come out of everything a better person. I'm glad I saw this. Thanks for sharing!

R514 Yes, she seems to be at peace with that part of her life now. She's stayed in shape because after leaving porn, she became an aerobics instructor for seniors and did that for some time. It's great she spoke well of Chuck. He really helped her career, gave her a lot of great roles that could show what she could do and her career really took off.

Gloria Leonard was interviewed on a '80s talk show, not a big one. She talked about her job, she was proud of it, etc. The host asked her if she wanted her daughter to go into porn. She said absolutely not because of what she'd seen and experienced and also, she did this so her daughter could have a better life. She didn't want her daughter to follow in her footsteps.

R550 Karen Summers wasn't very pretty, but she could act pretty well and seemed to like sex. Her work for Kirdy Stevens in particular was good. Think that made up for the lack of prettiness for some. There were uglier stars around the same time like Tantala Ray (Jerry Butler called her Tarantula in his book) and Viper come to mind.

R552 Yes; I agree with you on X-Rated: The Greatest Adult Movies of All Time." It was definitely tilted toward 90s porn and beyond and they short-shrifted the 70s and 80s. I wouldn't classify anything created in the 90s as "the greatest of all time."

R554 There were some decent movies in the 90s, but nothing too great. Most of the stars couldn't act very well and the directors from this time (up until now) usually weren't good enough to get a good or even decent acting performances out of them. Most of the women just cared about building a name and credits for their stripping careers and most of the men were just meat puppets. The Parody's put out today are mostly horrible. One clip from a Star Trek parody with Seth Gamble attempting to act was cringe worthy. I stopped watching at that point.

Seka was very pretty, but I always thought she came across as being somewhat could. Yes, she did do facials, anals and dps before it was the norm and didn't come across as trashy like when more modern stars did it. Still, I have the feeling she did all for the extra money. It didn't seem like she was really into it like say Vanessa Del Rio was.
Seka had a bad habit of lying about stuff and being called out on it. On Morton Downey Jr's show back in the 80s, she claimed she owned 10 adult book stores at age 25. She claimed in earlier interviews to owning one and she started in porn prior to turning 25 and sold the book stores. She got mad and walked out. Downey was being an asshole, but he was right in calling her out on that obvious lie. Here's a link to that. Jerry Butler also called her out on lies in his book about her working with him when she hadn't (and he had a big dick) and how she claimed to be in porn only because she enjoyed it and money was no object, despite her commanding some of the highest salaries back then.

He not only exposed her identity but her (grown) kids and immediate families as well. I thought it was a crappy thing to do. It doesn't look like she's had the easiest life since her time in porn. Her husband was shot and killed, she had to raise two kids on her own, most likely without much money.

Her maiden name was Colleen Marlis and she attended Our Lady of Mercy Academy in Syosset, Long Island, graduating 1978. She got into drugs, borrowed money from a friend, then did Debbie Does Dallas to earn money to pay the friend back. But she DIDN'T pay the friend. So the friend took her to a strip club to work for the money to pay back. More drugs, more whoring. Rinse and repeat.
Eventually she married a cop surnamed Hageman in NJ or update NY somewhere, who was killed in the late 90s apparently. Wanna bet he was one of her johns?
No kids.
She had a younger brother, Christopher Marlis, who died in 2008. Then her mom died in 2009.

I will say after I released a photo of her in my e book released in 2014 (obtained in 2011) that her son released a photo of him and his mom in 2015 (she is not namedin picture but its her) and as I previously stated her sister released an old family picture on FB in June 2015.
There is also an online article in late 2012 with a picture of her in it clear as day and she was interviewed. The article was not about who she was or her former career. I already knew what she looked like at that point as I had my unreleased photo but it was the first official public photo in ages she must have been nervous. Regards, Charlie Imus

I would also like to note that despite the subject matter I made a point of keeping the book clean. I also kept some information out of the story to purposely avoid taking it down the dark path. That would have been way too easy and in my opinion irresponsible. I am proud that I kept the story above board and clean.

R586 Looking forward to reading it. Does it contain any background on where she's been for the past 40 some years and why she left the industry so abruptly?

The pic of her in 2012 is already posted upthread at r570, but here it is again. Her name is Colleen Hageman. At r575 is more details about her life post-porn, which may or may not be accurate.

R588 I don't see any resemblance whatsoever between the woman in that picture and Bambi Woods. I'm not saying it couldn't be her; I just don't see anything that looks remotely like the girl in Debbie Does Dallas.

That is her in the picture believe it or do not. Fast forward from 1978 to 2012 and children (34 years) lol. If you see what she looked like even shortly after her porn life in the 1980's she was already heavier and growing her hair out to its natural brown color. As to the question her post porn life is discussed in my story.

R590 There is nothing in her face that harkens back even the slightest bit to Bambi Woods. Even as people age, you see hints of their younger selves. There's nothing here at all. How can you be sure this is her?

R588 Look at the nose of the woman in that picture, then look at the nose in the picture of Bambi Woods at the top of the thread. Not even close. I don't think this is her.

To the comments in 575 there are more siblings and there are children. I always wondered if he was in fact her John. I will tell the continue Debbie Doubters that the information in my book is legally verified and if you look at the then and now photo at the end of my story and compare you will see that lthough she is heavier her facial features (eyebrows/cheeks/etc are in fact quite similiar even her voice is the same and yes I know this for certain) Like I stated already her sister posted up an old family photo.
If you think she should look like she did in 1978 well you may be disappointed. If you choose not to believe it no matter what proof is presented well nothing I can do. Much of the information about her online is incorrect. My story is a detailed investigation that I wrote for the love of the game. If you choose to read it cool if not thats ok.

I can definitely buy that it's her. It's not obvious compared to most of the old pics and screenshots but when she was smiling, yes.
In fact, even in the poster art I think her features match up with the picture of Colleen Hageman, same eyes

R593 Look, I wouldn't expect her to look the same as she did in 1978, but I just don't see anything matching up in the facial features. I recently saw a current picture of Lesllie Bovee, and although she's nearly 70 years old now, I could immediately tell it was her - the eyes, the nose, the smile.
I'm not doubting you did your homework and your research - I'm just questioning that photo. If you've verified that Bambi Woods' real name is Colleen Hageman, is the Collen Hageman in that picture the same Colleen Hageman that was once Bambi Woods? How do you know her voice? Did you speak with her? Did she acknowledge that she is indeed Bambi Woods? She had a very distinctive voice in the film, so that might be one way to verify if this is really her.
I don't have a Kindle, so I can't download the book and read all about it, unfortunately.

R595 How do you know this? Do you have access to a Facebook page for her?

Greetings: As I discuss in The National Enquirer section in my story the information is was legally verified. Additionally there were lawyers and NDA's signed among other things so please understand I can be free about most things but some specifics I can not discuss. I am sure if you think about it their are multiple legal non threatening ways to achieve one's goals. As someone else stated yes her eyes are the same.
There are also many topics that many people like to discuss or ask me questions after they read my story. So much more information and stories in stories. The daughter is a Dom yes and she hates to discuss or acknowledge her mom to strangers. If you know her alter ego name you can find some interesting things. Additionally photo bucket has some interesting pictures. Colleen and her daughter outed themselves with teasers on the fake but clever Yesbutnobutyes interview. Of course I discuss in detail all this in my book. The son is an interesting detail as well. Regards and thanks for keeping everything civil. Charlie Imus (my book is nonfiction and that is def 1000 percent her under oath on the record)

Yes that Colleen Hageman is the lady that starred as Bambi Woods in the 1978 xxx film Debbie Does Dallas and parts 2&3. There are other Colleen Hagemans but that is the one that is her. I know because way before that article in 2012 came out with her picture, I already wrote Porn Dead. Additionally, I already obtained a picture of her and heard her voice. This was after The National Enquirer and I could not come to an agreement financially after they verified all my information and made me an offer. She has confirmed who she is but does not want to be bothered by it this late in life because of all the shame and such associated with it. Regards, Charlie

I have to laugh at you signing off with "regards" after typing that sentence.
