Breaking News: Bambi Woods of "Debbie Does Dallas" Fame is Alive!

The Rialto Report, the excellent podcast that features interviews with legendary adult film stars from the 1970s and beyond, posted the following on their website this week "Debbie Does Dallas"' also made a star out of the lead actress, Bambi Woods. The Rialto Report tracked down Bambi Woods recently but has not been able to secure an interview as of yet. We live in hope.

If anyone can persuade Ms. Woods to speak to them, it's the Rialto Report. I hope they can make it happen!

I would love to hear her story. She made only two movies - "Debbie Does Dallas" and "Debbie Does Dallas II" - became a huge sensation in the late 1970s, then literally disappeared off the face of the earth. I hope she ultimately decides to speak to the Rialto Report. She's got to be around 60 years old now and must have some good perspective around it all.

by Anonymousreply 1October 11, 2016 2:02 PM

Some guy found out her real name years ago (Colleen something) and wrote a bad written E-book about it on Amazon. It had a recent photo of her too. He tried selling it to National Enquirer but they didn't wanna pay much, so he just put out the ebook. They confirmed his finding were legit.

The Rialto Report people are very good at finding porn people nearly everyone else couldn't. They've found Woods, Lisa De Leeuw (long rumored to be dead), and Desiree Cousteau but they're currently not willing to give interviews. They talked the very elusive Jennifer Welles into an interview. She cut off all contact with people in porn and had even changed her name and they still managed to track her down.

by Anonymousreply 2October 11, 2016 2:12 PM

R2 I love the Rialto Report. I don't know how they manage to find so many of these people, but they do a great job and their interviews are always in-depth and really fascinating. I read that they've also located Leslie Bovee, who's become very religious and doesn't want to talk about her past career, but they're still working on convincing her to speak with them. They're also apparently working on a big piece about the late "straight for pay" star, Wade Nichols. They managed to find his brother, who's provided them with a lot of information on Wade's life.

I'd love to hear more about Nichols - a gay man who found fame in straight porn and who eventually ended up with a hit disco song and a major role on The Edge of Night soap opera! Talk about an unusual career trajectory!

I remember reading an article where she did a telephone interview and was a married suburban mom. The interview read as very friendly and her story was not a complicated one. She did two movies and moved on.

I think Kristine Debelle
from the x-rated Alice in Wonderland is a sought after one hit phenom also.

by Anonymousreply 4October 11, 2016 2:25 PM

R4 They actually have an interview with Kristine DeBell in a piece about the making of Alice in Wonderland. It's not an audio interview, unfortunately. It's a written interview, but she does talk about how she came to be cast in the movie and her experiences making it.

by Anonymousreply 5October 11, 2016 2:41 PM

Bovee is probably a long shot. I've seen her facebook and she is very religious it seems (and republican - ugh). She's been battling cancer (first breast and then bone cancer) for a while now and in her most recent photos looks like she's had major facial reconstruction surgery. Her husband also died a few years back. She hasn't had an easy life in recent years.

It would be great for them do a write up on Wade Nichols life. He was a great actor and by all accounts a very nice guy too.

by Anonymousreply 6October 11, 2016 2:43 PM

R6 Leslie Bovee has a Facebook page? Is it under the Leslie Bovee name?

by Anonymousreply 7October 11, 2016 2:45 PM

R7 It's under her married name.

by Anonymousreply 8October 11, 2016 2:47 PM

R8 Can you reveal it?

by Anonymousreply 9October 11, 2016 2:57 PM

I remember watching one of those movies long ago and the guy that played the sporting goods store owner, Mr. Green? Seemed incredibly hot to me.

by Anonymousreply 10October 11, 2016 2:58 PM

Well, she's done Dallas, twice. What is there left for her to do?

by Anonymousreply 11October 11, 2016 2:59 PM

R6 April Hall of The Rialto Report has had a long-time fascination with Wade Nichols, so I know she'll put together a great report on him.

I remember seeing an interview with Erik Edwards, another major star of the golden age, where he talked about making the movie "Love You" with Annette Haven, Leslie Bovee, and Wade Nichols. John Derek, the director and write of the movie (yes, Bo's husband), wrote a scene that required Eric and Wade to wrestle each other in the nude. Erik said both he and Wade were uncomfortable about doing the scene, and he said that he felt Wade was especially uncomfortable, since he was gay and worried about how Erik would feel about doing the scene with him.

Erik said he and Wade discussed how they would approach the scene and they ultimately decided to go all in and make the scene as realistic as possible, which helped them get over their unease with it. Erik said Wade was completey respectful and never stepped over any lines during the scene. Erik had a lot of respect for Wade as a person and as an actor.

by Anonymousreply 12October 11, 2016 3:08 PM

R10 Richard Bolla (aka Robert Kerman) played Mr. Greenfield, the only guy Bambi Woods has sex with in the movie. He was actually a "legitimate" actor. He was in the Goodbye Girl, albeit in a small role.

by Anonymousreply 13October 11, 2016 3:11 PM

R4 Do you remember where you saw that interview? How long ago was it?

by Anonymousreply 14October 11, 2016 3:17 PM

Oh the porn days of yore, when the pictures were big and the names were not so stupid.

by Anonymousreply 15October 11, 2016 3:31 PM

R2 The Rialto Report also interviewed Jeff Stryker a couple of years ago. He didn't seem all that bright, but he did seem to be a genuinely nice guy. I like the way the Rialto Report manages to bring out the "real" people behind these stars' porn personas.

The interview with Jennifer Welles was great.

by Anonymousreply 16October 11, 2016 3:38 PM

R9 I'd rather not post it because she's tried her best to stay out of the spotlight and has had lots of troubles like I mention earlier. Who knows who might see this posting and start bugging her which she doesn't need. I'll post a photo or two from it of what she looks like now if you want though.

Bolla is a very good actor. Mainstream good. He hasn't had the easiest time of it either. He's been ill (diabetic) and has been in a nursing home for the last 6 months.

by Anonymousreply 17October 11, 2016 7:26 PM

R9 I get that. She deserves her privacy. I would love to see recent pictures of her, though.

There were some truly good actors from that era - Kerman, Wade Nichols, John Leslie, Richard Pacheco, Jamie Gillis, Eric Edwards. They were making real films back then.

by Anonymousreply 18October 11, 2016 8:57 PM

Here is one of her from not long ago.

by Anonymousreply 22October 11, 2016 9:08 PM

R20 The Candy Samples interview was kind of sad.

by Anonymousreply 23October 11, 2016 9:09 PM

Yeah, but it's nice to know she's being cared for by a friend instead of being in a nursing home or on the street.

by Anonymousreply 24October 11, 2016 9:13 PM

R24 This is true. It's just sad to witness the virtual disappearance of a person, though. That's what's really great about the Rialto Report interviews, actually - they're very bittersweet in a lot of cases.

by Anonymousreply 25October 11, 2016 9:15 PM

R19 Do you have any other Leslie Bovee pictures? I was surprised at how good she looks in that one. It's sad that she's suffering from cancer now.

by Anonymousreply 26October 11, 2016 9:16 PM

After her first interview with The Rialto Report, Jennifer Welles agreed to share some recent photos. She seems like cool people.

by Anonymousreply 27October 11, 2016 9:23 PM

R27 I loved Jennifer Welles' interview. She was charming and completely proud and appreciative of her adult film career - no shame, no apologies. A real straight-up gal!

by Anonymousreply 28October 11, 2016 9:27 PM

Candy's interview was sad. Alzheimer's is a brutal, evil disease. It's good that she's in good spirits despite everything. Makes things easier for both her and her caregiver. It's good that she has someone looking after her after being taken advantage of by loser boyfriends and husbands.

Jennifer Welles seems like a very fun person. She seems to regret stepping out of the spotlight but she did what she thought would be best for her by marrying the wealthy fan.

by Anonymousreply 29October 11, 2016 9:34 PM

She looks great! The way a 60 year old woman should look. I aspire to that sort of "old hippie/fun gal" look when the times comes.

by Anonymousreply 30October 11, 2016 9:39 PM

^ She's 79. :)

Desirée Cousteau, another big name in the late '70s, got out of porn, went back to school, and became a psychologist. She'd make for another good RR interview, although I can understand why she wouldn't want to.

Houston? San Antonio? Austin? El Paso?

by Anonymousreply 32October 11, 2016 9:45 PM

Desiree was very pretty but kinda nutty back then. She had a fued with Annette Haven (who also kinda nutty) because she thought Annette Haven was after her husband. Her husband was actually after Annette and she wanted nothing to do them. A jealous Desiree punched out her husband at a wrap party for one of their movies for either looking or speaking to Annette at the party.

by Anonymousreply 33October 11, 2016 9:47 PM

Annette Haven still looks good too.

R33 I had heard Desiree was a bit of a nutter. There was a rumor for a time that she was institutionalized after her porn career ended. Annette Haven is on Facebook and posts frequently. She still looks terrific!

by Anonymousreply 35October 11, 2016 9:53 PM

Georgina Spelvin is another fun old gal with interesting stories. She danced on Broadway before getting into porn.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 36October 11, 2016 9:55 PM

R36 Georgina - another great actress. She was actually hired to do the catering for the film "The Devil in Miss Jones," and the director asked if she'd like to play the lead in the film. "In addition to cooking," she asked? Love her.

by Anonymousreply 37October 11, 2016 9:57 PM

Follow Annette on facebook to see nearly constant drama. She's smart, but is offended very easily and often goes off on fans. She's dished about a lot of her co-stars and movies also.

I think some Desiree had some major hang-ups with her religious, southern upbringing. She likened having sex with a black man to bestiality!

Georgina is wonderful. Everyone who worked with/knows her seems to love her.

by Anonymousreply 38October 11, 2016 10:01 PM

Georgina loves the gays too. She had a small part in gay themed movie "Next Year in Jerusalem" and is great in it.

by Anonymousreply 39October 11, 2016 10:05 PM

I have some Facebook friends in common with Shannon, who was one of the first big stars of trans porn in the early '80s. She did only a few movies to finance her surgery, and she has a very ordinary life and career (she's actually widely rumored to be dead).

whores......they're all whores.......

by Anonymousreply 52October 11, 2016 11:09 PM

R52 Lots of people are whores. Just because they did porn doesn't mean they don't have other talents or abilities.

by Anonymousreply 53October 11, 2016 11:33 PM

Both Eric Edwards and Paul Thomas were signed to the William Morris Agency before they were in porn. Thomas came from a wealthy family, so he didn't really need to do porn, he just wanted to. Guess he didn't have the patience to pursue a mainstream career. He did get to appear in Jesus Chris Superstar.

Here is Eric Edwards William Morris Agency headshot, courtesy of the Rialto Report.

R56 I love Erik Edwards, His Rialto Report interview is so fascinating and he's so articulate and intelligent. The interview is also a bit a bit sad, though. He's been through some very difficult times personally, and he had a crazy ex-wife who pretty much ruined his life. To his great credit, he raised his two sons completely on his own.

by Anonymousreply 57October 12, 2016 12:02 AM

R51 The Dolly Sharpe article was excellent. I had no idea she had a successful dance and legitimate film career prior to Deep Throat. Another woman with a tragic ending.

by Anonymousreply 58October 12, 2016 12:03 AM

R50 Georgina Spelvin was so cute back then. She was an understudy for Shirley MacLaine in Sweet Charity. She definitely resembles her in that picture.

by Anonymousreply 59October 12, 2016 12:05 AM

R38 I have a friend who knows Annette Haven. He once described her as a "self-important coked out diva."

by Anonymousreply 60October 12, 2016 12:07 AM

R54 Paul Thomas had a major role in the Jesus Christ Superstar film - he played Judas. Very talented singer and actor.,

by Anonymousreply 61October 12, 2016 12:09 AM

R42 Georgina was excellent in that scene! I love how her son suggested in the scene that she go into catering - which is how Georgina got into adult movies in the first place. :-)

by Anonymousreply 62October 12, 2016 12:14 AM

R54 Eric Edwards was gorgeous. He truly had matinee idol looks. He could've easily been a mainstream star,

by Anonymousreply 63October 12, 2016 12:15 AM

R60 That sounds like her, not sure she's coked out though, she does talk very fast sometimes. She could be a huge pain on sets. There were times where she would demand a full body make-up job and once had a big meltdown when she had a small blemish on her face and only Kay Parker could calm her down. But she knew she could get away with it, her movies always sold well.

by Anonymousreply 64October 12, 2016 12:16 AM

Why are we wasting thread space posting photos? Post Video Clips of the hot male porn stars! Especially that R. Bolla!!!!

by Anonymousreply 65October 12, 2016 12:18 AM

R60 I think it may have been an interview with Eric Edwards who said he couldn't stand working with her, because she was always covered head to toe in makeup and powder, which made sex scenes really difficult.

by Anonymousreply 66October 12, 2016 12:18 AM

Haven became ill during one scene with Eric Edwards (according to her, she has some digestive disorder since she was child where she has to be on antibiotics all the time to keep from dying) and Veronica Hart was nice enough to fill in for the close up shots and a rude Haven had to point out you could tell it wasn't her because Hart had cellulite.

by Anonymousreply 67October 12, 2016 12:33 AM

Eric Edwards is one of the hottest classic porn stars. Such a shame he never did anything gay onscreen.

by Anonymousreply 68October 12, 2016 12:36 AM

R67 Haven sounds like a bit of a bitch, huh? Well, Veronica Hart may not have been as beautiful as Annette Haven, but she could act circles around her!

by Anonymousreply 69October 12, 2016 12:36 AM

R68 The closest to anything gay on film for Eric Edwards was his nude wrestling scene with Wade Nichols in "Love You." Although it's more homoerotic than actually gay.

by Anonymousreply 70October 12, 2016 12:37 AM

R69 Haven posted that on Facebook when talking about that movie. I'm blanking on which one it was. Veronica said she wasn't rude to her because she wasn't threatened by her like she by some others like Desiree Cousteau. And yes, Hart is a much better actress than Haven. I don't know why people often name her as one of the best actresses in porn, she almost always played the same type of roles and scenes, a variance of an classy, ice princess.

I have to admit I'd like to hear a Rialto Report with her though, I don't think she'd hold anything back and it certainly would be interesting. I kinda doubt it will happen since she demands to be paid for everything what she feels she's worth. I'm not sure if they pay their interview subjects or not.

by Anonymousreply 71October 12, 2016 12:50 AM

R71 Haven was an okay actress - probably a cut above many of the actresses of that era - but she wasn't great. It was her beauty that made her iconic. I agree - a Rialto Report interview with her would be fun. I have to imagine they've reached out to her, since she's not hiding, but she probably had diva-like demands. I do believe the Rialto Report pays the stars for their interviews, but I don't think it's a lot of money, and I'm sure whatever they would offer would be way too low for Haven.

by Anonymousreply 72October 12, 2016 1:02 AM

Seriously, Annette, take it to your Facebook page.

We need vintage porn cock here!

by Anonymousreply 73October 12, 2016 1:04 AM

Kandi Barbour was one of prettier porn actresses back then but had a very sad ending. She was found dead in the streets in San Francisco after being homeless for several years. The blog isn't as well written as The Rialto Report, but a interesting, sad read.

R73 LOL. I think Annette would have a fit if she seen these posts about her. She's very thin-skinned.

by Anonymousreply 79October 12, 2016 1:12 AM

by Anonymousreply 80October 12, 2016 1:14 AM

I saw a part of a John Leslie movie (I think) once and it was incredibly hot. I've tried to find the video but don't know the title. All I know is that the story had something to do with him messing around with a woman, a widow, I think, who kept a diary of it. I think he was using the woman for her money, etc. I just remember there was a really hot scene where he DP'd his friend's girlfriend (with his friend) and the camera spent a lot of time focused on their two cocks rubbing against each other.

by Anonymousreply 81October 12, 2016 1:17 AM

Some of her co-stars have trashed her on facebook. She had a funny feud with Jon Martin on Facebook. She said he had rancid breath and he called her lots of names and talk about how her house reeked of cat piss from the cats she has. She threated to post some not so flattering stories about him if he kept it up.

by Anonymousreply 82October 12, 2016 1:19 AM

R82 here I was talking about Annette once again above.

by Anonymousreply 83October 12, 2016 1:21 AM

R80 you're just hitting them all tonight, ha. Kevin James was incredibly hot. I remember seeing him in one of those Taboo movies recently. He looks exactly like a friend of mine so that's a little disturbing, ha.

by Anonymousreply 84October 12, 2016 1:21 AM

R79 Eric Edwards felt that director John Derek was bisexual and that the movie "Love You" was a way for Derek to get his own personal sexual fantasies on film. Edwards thought the nude wrestling scene was a particular male-male fantasy of John Derek's.

by Anonymousreply 85October 12, 2016 1:23 AM

R82 I'm gonna have to start following Annette Haven on Facebook! Sounds like a lot of delicious dish and drama!

by Anonymousreply 86October 12, 2016 1:25 AM

by Anonymousreply 87October 12, 2016 1:25 AM

by Anonymousreply 88October 12, 2016 1:27 AM

Another hot golden age star - George Payne! Damn, he was hot. And a decent actor, too. Even better, Payne also did gay movies early in his career!

Here something you didn't see often in vintage straight porn, like you do these days. Kevin James getting rimmed by Loni Sanders. Loni was married to Kevin James' good friend Mike Ranger back then. Think she kissed Mike after she got home from shooting this loop?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 90October 12, 2016 1:28 AM

R88 I think she was in dire financial straits - she had a young son to support, and she didn't know how to do anything else but dance and act. She may have seen this as her only option for the money she needed for herself and her son.

by Anonymousreply 91October 12, 2016 1:29 AM

R80 There are rumors that Kevin James is still alive and faked his death like Lisa De Leeuw did so he could exit the industry and start a new life.

by Anonymousreply 92October 12, 2016 1:32 AM

Dolly was also a great violinist and could've taught that too. But apparently was turning tricks at that time too and you make quick easy money doing that and porn. Her last boyfriend who they talked to said she was also bipolar and that probably also played a part.

by Anonymousreply 93October 12, 2016 1:33 AM

R93 Yes; the Rialto Report piece also alludes to Dolly's mental issues. I'm sure that played a role in her decision to do porn,

by Anonymousreply 94October 12, 2016 1:34 AM

I think Kevin is really dead sadly. There is a Kevin James Gibson listed as dying in California Death Records. Plus people had seen him after he started taking chemotherapy and lost all his hair and a lot of weight. He became a real estate agent shortly before he left porn and was diagnosed with cancer and did that until he became too ill to do so.

by Anonymousreply 95October 12, 2016 1:37 AM

A good scene that gay Eric Edwards fans might like is one of scenes from "Arcadia Lake's Fantasies. In the scene set in the hospital with Arcadia and Eric she gives him a rim job and there is a very close view of it, although relatively short. The scene stars 13 minutes in.

by Anonymousreply 102October 12, 2016 2:22 AM

R102 Possibly. Her boyfriend in The Rialto Report article said she went on about her business as usual even when she was very ill. Her strong will power probably played a big part in her surviving with it for as long as she did. It had to have been horrific to go through.

by Anonymousreply 103October 12, 2016 2:28 AM

R102 I'd like to know where her son is now. I think he'd be in his late 40s or early 50s by now.

by Anonymousreply 104October 12, 2016 2:29 AM

Someone in the comments that knew her and her son said that he looked like actor Eric Stoltz. I wonder if her son knows about the Dolly Sharp part of her past?

by Anonymousreply 105October 12, 2016 2:33 AM

Helen/Dolly's story sounds like a downbeat sequel to Gypsy ("Whatever Happened to Agnes/Amanda?").

It's very sad to see her very real talents on display in the teailer for "Give a Girl a Break" with Marge Champion and Debbie Reynolds. Some twenty years later, she was offering her ass for $25.

It probably would have upset her greatly that her imdb name is Dolly Sharp, with her legit credits are follwed by "as Helen Wood". One would laugh at her naivete today but her bad wigs and unremarkable stag films might have kept the two careers separate if she'd never appeared in Deep Throat.

by Anonymousreply 109October 12, 2016 2:44 AM

R106 Yes, I don't think she'd be happy about it being known. I doubt she would've consented to an interview for The Rialto Report if she was still alive. She tried to distance herself from "Dolly Sharp" as much as possible.

by Anonymousreply 110October 12, 2016 2:48 AM

Why was Debbie Does Dallas even popular? I was so disappointed. She hardly did anyone.

Annette Haven may be the Brenda Dickson of pr0n.

by Anonymousreply 112October 12, 2016 2:55 AM

It is kinda overrated. Debbie/Bambi seemed to be high on something too. Look how her eyes are bulging out when she first starts taking to R. Bolla. Dave Atell brought that up on his show "Dave's Old Porn" and Bolla (who looked unwell then also) was guest along with DL favorite Amy Schumer who completed Bolla's balls.

by Anonymousreply 113October 12, 2016 2:56 AM

LOL R112 that's a good comparison. I think Annette's more sane, though.

by Anonymousreply 114October 12, 2016 2:57 AM

And I don't think Annette would ever vote for Donald Trump.

by Anonymousreply 115October 12, 2016 2:59 AM

I think George Payne is a conflicted bisexual. In some of his straight movies you can catch him sometimes checking out other guys in the scenes.

by Anonymousreply 116October 12, 2016 3:08 AM

R116 I definitely think George Payne is bisexual, and I don't think he's ever really denied it, either. He spoke very highly of his co-star Jack Wrangler in his Rialto Report interview. And it's not like he's tried to hide or deny his gay porn past like someone else we know - **cough** Peter North **cough**.

by Anonymousreply 117October 12, 2016 3:13 AM

I hope they release video versions of the interviews they've done. I think nearly all the interviews they've done were video taped for the documentary they're working on. Or do a then and now post with how they looked then and how the looked at the time of being interviewed. They've interviewed many lesser known stars who's interviews will probably be released, unfortually.

by Anonymousreply 118October 12, 2016 3:22 AM

Ooops, that should be: They've interviewed many lesser known stars who's interviews will probably never be released, unfortually.

by Anonymousreply 119October 12, 2016 3:26 AM

R111 Debbie Does Dallas was released at the height of the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders craze, so it capitalized on the fantasies of many horny straight dudes who lusted after those jiggling girls on Sunday afternoons. Also, the film was brilliant in that the title implied its nubile blonde star would be doing everything and everybody in sight, which got a ton of people to plunk down their cash. But it was actually a big tease, because Debbie doesn't even have sex until the end of the movie. So horny guys with cheerleader fantasies went to the theater and stayed through the whole movie just so they could finally see cute little Debbie get nailed.

Brilliant marketing and brilliant timing for an otherwise run of the mill porn movie.

by Anonymousreply 120October 12, 2016 3:30 AM

R108 Love the green shag carpet and the cheesy Bolero music. George had one hot body, though!

R59, minor correction, it was "The Pajama Game." There was a revue of porn stars in SoCal in the early 70s and she was the star and she did "Steam Heat".

by Anonymousreply 123October 12, 2016 3:46 AM

R59 I stand corrected. :-)

by Anonymousreply 124October 12, 2016 3:47 AM

So what name did Helen Lawson use in her porn career?

by Anonymousreply 125October 12, 2016 6:01 AM

That story of Dolly Sharp is all at once terrifying, sad, touching, fascinating and fabulous..... How amazing that she was so close, and actually near the crème of the crop in the two distinct genres (a bona fide golden age star, and 70's porn starlet) and is now nearly forgotten in both!

by Anonymousreply 126October 12, 2016 6:42 AM

R126 Great observation. Her life story would make a terrific movie, don't you think?

by Anonymousreply 127October 12, 2016 11:20 AM

R47 One of my favorite adult movies featuring Georgina Spelvin is the 1978 movie "Take Off." In fact, the movie features a number of the biggest names from that era - Georgina, Wade Nichols, Annette Haven, Leslie Bovee, Erik Edwards. Georgina Spelvin and Wade Nichols are especially great in the movie, and even though it's a comedy, the ending is very touching, thanks to Georgina's and Nichols' excellent portrayals.

by Anonymousreply 128October 12, 2016 12:24 PM

Please, OP, do not pollute DL with stories about disgusting smelly stinkfish!

by Anonymousreply 129October 12, 2016 12:26 PM
Eric Edwards is one of the hottest classic porn stars. Such a shame he never did anything gay onscreen.

He did a scene in Midnight Desire where he takes a strap on. Rialto actually asked if it was stunt butt since you don't really see his face in the shots and he said it was him and almost seemed surprised they would ask. He said he did it because the actress he was with was such a turn on. They also asked if he was ever asked to do gay porn and he said no.

When Dolly Sharp started doing one day "Loops" porn was really underground. The loops were shown in 25 cent machines in sex stores. The so called movies were shown on sheets in back of porn stores. She thought no one would ever see them or if they did would never admit to be a pervert in a porn shop.. She didn't pay attention to the industry and just showed up and did her job. When "Deep Throat" hit was was horrified and humiliated.

Jamie Gillis was bi and fucked anything that moved but made more money in the straight films. He made another gay one called "Manhold" in 3D! It's considered a lost film. They don't strike hundreds of prints of these films so the few made were probably thrown away when the porn theaters started closing. It played for two months at the Adonis In NY in Jan of '78

by Anonymousreply 130October 12, 2016 12:30 PM

R130 Jamie Gillis also gets a blow job from a man in the straight movie "The Story of Joanna."

For Dolly Sharp, it seems the release of Deep Throat was really the beginning of the end for her. She moved away from New York to try and protect her anonymity, and things seemed to go downhill for her from there.

by Anonymousreply 131October 12, 2016 12:37 PM

Do we think the porn star of the 70's, the true beginning of the genre were less damaged or more than the one today? The porn today is so much raunchier and abusive. Seems like it would be a difficult to survive and stay sane today but there is less of a stigma.

by Anonymousreply 132October 12, 2016 3:41 PM

R126/R127

Debi Mazar played Dolly in [italic]Lovelace,[/italic] the biopic from 2013 starring Amanda Seyfried as Linda Lovelace. The Rialto Report says a Dolly Sharp documentary is in the works.

R131 what was the context or story of him getting blown by a dude?

by Anonymousreply 134October 12, 2016 3:57 PM

R133 The Dolly Sharp character in "Lovelace" was a complete fabrication. The movie made it look like Dolly Sharp not only acted in Deep Throat, but was Linda Lovelace's makeup artist and confidante, which couldn't have been further from reality.

by Anonymousreply 142October 12, 2016 4:19 PM

That was Zebedy Colt blowing Jamie. He was gay in his person life but would sometimes work with women in the movies he did. He also directed some movie. R142 "The Erotic Adventures of Candy" with Carol Connors, Paul Thomas, and John Holmes features an orgy scene where two of the guys in the group are having sex together. Not Paul Thomas or John Holmes. However, both Paul Thomas and John Holmes did perform in gay porn.

by Anonymousreply 144October 12, 2016 4:24 PM

R143 - Yes, Zebedy Colt. He had a lot of mainstream acting credits to his name. He had a good reputation in the business, and both the men and women liked working with him.

by Anonymousreply 145October 12, 2016 4:26 PM

Now Carol Connors would be an interesting interview subject. But she seems to have no interest in talking about her porn career these days. Her daughter, mainstream actress Thora Birch is not impressed with her parents porn career. Some interviewer asked her about it a few years ago and she didn't want to talk about it. Jack Birch was one of the guys who did Dolly Sharp in Deep Throat during the orgy scene. He had a great body, but a smallish dick for porn and an although not really bad looking face, had very craggy facial skin. He was a control freak over Thora and her career and played a big part in ruining her career.

R148 That wouldn't be too surprising. Thora seems a bit out there too.

by Anonymousreply 149October 12, 2016 4:53 PM

R132 There were many damaged porn stars back in the "golden age." A lot had problems with drugs and/or alcohol, and many of them are no longer with us. The major stars, however, like Veronica Hart, Annette Haven, John Leslie, Richard Pacheco, seemed to be more grounded and professional in their approach to the industry. These were real actors with roles to perform, unlike the "stars" of today who simply take off their clothes and fuck while the video cameras run.

by Anonymousreply 150October 12, 2016 4:58 PM

R81 After retiring from acting, John Leslie directed a series of films called "The Voyeur." A lot of the scenes often featured male-male-female threesomes that were extremely homoerotic. I remember seeing one where the guys were all entwined in each other and I swear they were gonna end up kissing! Leslie definitely knew what turned men and women on and he captured the sexual tension and eroticism expertly.

by Anonymousreply 151October 12, 2016 5:04 PM

R151 After Eric Edwards retired from acting, he also directed some very hot films. I once saw an interview with him about a movie he made in the 1980s called "Mirage," and the interviewer noted how good Edwards was at photographing and highlighting the beauty of both male and female bodies. Edwards noted that the movies he directed were meant to appeal to couples, so he made sure to cast actors that would turn on both men and women.

I think he's been the only person to visit him since he's been in there since this past spring.

by Anonymousreply 155October 12, 2016 7:17 PM

The interview with Jennifer Welles is fascinating. She seems like such a normal and decent woman. It sounds like she got into porn because she wanted to be a star in some capacity, and porn was the only way for her to achieve that.

What's interesting is that she lives somewhere in rural Texas, goes to church every Sunday, and no one has any idea about her porn past. She's asked God for forgiveness, yet she talks about her past with such glowing pride, and only has the best memories of doing porn.

by Anonymousreply 156October 12, 2016 7:30 PM

R156 What I found really interesting about Jennifer Welles' interview is that she said she was treated with more respect on porn sets than she was on mainstream film sets. I love her - very real and down to earth. I'd love to hang out with her.

by Anonymousreply 157October 12, 2016 7:33 PM

Other female stars back then like Veronica Hart, Georgina Spelvin and Marlene Willoughby have also talked (In their Rialto Reports and elsewhere) about some of the scumbags in the legit world wanting them to sleep with them for parts yet were treated like humans by the people in porn. On Al Goldstein's Midnight Blue show, Jennifer Welles said she slept with Dean Martin when she was a dancer in Las Vegas long before she did porn.

by Anonymousreply 166October 12, 2016 9:02 PM

R166 I'm sure Jennifer Welles was very popular among the big male stars of the era. So was Colleen Brennan. She had affairs with Warren Beatty and Burt Reynolds.

by Anonymousreply 167October 12, 2016 9:29 PM

R166 Jennifer Welles had a small part in the movie "The Groove Tube." She played Chevy Chase's topless, horny wife in a parody of a Geritol commercial.

I did porn in 1976.

by Anonymousreply 169October 12, 2016 9:40 PM

R166 I liked Colleen Brennan Rialto Report interview, she's very blunt but also funny. Sharon Mitchell also said she slept with Warren Beatty. Apparently to sleep with him you only had to be somewhat attractive and have a willing vagina.

R169 What was your porn name?

by Anonymousreply 170October 12, 2016 9:51 PM

R164 How old is that Huster interview? That exec sounds like a true degenerate. I can imagine it would have been nearly impossible for Annette Haven or other actresses in her genre to have been thought of us anything else but a "sure thing."

Veronica Hart almost became "the Meryl of Porn" with her fantastic performance in the underrated, artfully made thriller DERANGED from 1987.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 190October 13, 2016 6:01 AM

R190 "Deranged" was a valiant mainstream effort by Chuck Vincent - a variation on Roman Polanski's "Repulsion." It's not a great movie, but the performances are fantastic, especially by Veronica Hart, who masterfully handled a role that would be a tremendous challenge for any actress. Jamie Gillis and Jerry Butler were also excellent in their parts. I loved that Chuck Vincent used his best adult genre actors for his mainstream efforts.

Veronica Hart is a terrific actress. "Amanda by Night" and "Wand Whips Wall Street" are two of my favorites. And I was happily surprised to see her show up as a family court judge in "Boogie Nights." A true talent.

by Anonymousreply 191October 13, 2016 12:22 PM

I wasn't a big fan of Deranged. I like both Veronica (who was great in it) and Chuck's work, but didn't like the way the movie was constructed and the pacing. It seemed to drag on.

My favorite movie of Chuck and Veronica's is Cleo/Leo. Veronica gets to show off her comedic chops with a little bit drama in there too. It's much better than the similar Ellen Barkin/Jimmy Smits movie Switch that came out a few years afterwards.

I love Amanda By Night. Veronica, R. Bolla, Jamie Gillis, and Lisa De Leeuw are great in it. Samantha Fox is ok too, but preferred her more in some of her others works.

by Anonymousreply 192October 13, 2016 1:27 PM

R192 "Cleo/Leo" was pretty funny. I loved watching Veronica Hart lumber along like a Jersey guido and smoke a cigar. She really is a gifted actress. Ginger Lynn was good in that one, too.

Too bad Chuck Vincent passed away so young. He could've successfully brought Hart and other adult stars into the mainstream permanently.

by Anonymousreply 193October 13, 2016 1:32 PM

Yes, Chuck would hire the more competent adult stars that could do a good job for his R-rated fims opposed to more expensive SAG actors that sometimes weren't all the great to begin with and had attitudes. He had a bad experience with a largely SAG cast on Preppies, also had various SAG fines, he mostly used the adult stars and other non-SAG actors he was familiar with without the drama from then on.

He was really bad at the business side of film making though. He ended up losing the rights to all of his R-rated movies, and sometimes sold them to more than one distributor, so it's hard to tell who legally owns them these days. That's why most of them have never had restored DVD releases.

by Anonymousreply 194October 13, 2016 2:07 PM

R194 A lot of adult film directors weren't great when it came to business. I just watched a documentary about sexploitation filmmaker Joe Sarno, who wrote and directed hundreds of softcore and hardcore films from the 1960s through the 1990s. But at the end of his life, he and his wife were practically broke, and his wife explained it's because Joe never negotiated any rights to his films. So he'd get paid as a writer and director, but that was it. The producers and distributors would make all the money from the sales and rentals of the films, and all Joe basically had was his writing and directing fees. Had he owned any rights to his films, he'd have been a multi-millionaire. Such a shame.

by Anonymousreply 195October 13, 2016 3:09 PM

R195 Mostly the producers and distributors got rich. Directors and the Actors just got flat fees for their work. It's sad seeing so many barely getting by in their older years, many not good enough health to work or turned down for jobs due to their ages.

by Anonymousreply 196October 13, 2016 3:42 PM

Sarno put out a lot of good movies in the 70s. It's too bad his movies were so bad or mediocre after that though. One star who worked on some of his shot on video movies said that he didn't seem to care about the quality of them and didn't have the best attitude at that time.

by Anonymousreply 197October 13, 2016 3:48 PM

Not true. watch the documentary "A Life in Dirty Movies ", he cared very much. He always considered himself a film maker. He grew up in Amityville Long Island but he went to Sweden to make "Inga" in a more sexually progressive place and he ended up with a huge hit in the states. His wife's family was loaded and they kept them afloat. She is a great broad and reminded me of Suzanne Pleshette. He also directed Jennifer Welles last movie "Inside Jennifer Welles" although the distributor credited Jennifer as director.

by Anonymousreply 198October 13, 2016 4:05 PM

Speaking of Zebedy Colt, he gave one of the most frightening and realistic performances in "Sex Wish", a porn take off on "Death Wish." He played the (gay) rapist in love with Harry Reems and his babbling during the rape scenes are completely unnerving.

So then who is "the Glenn of Porn?"

by Anonymousreply 200October 13, 2016 4:25 PM

Watch some of Sarno's movies from the 80s, the latter half especially. They were movies shot in a day or two and weren't as nearly as good as the ones he made in the 70s. But you can't put the full blame on him because most of the good actors had either retired or moved to California to make movies at that point. So did many of the good directors. Watching most NY made movies after say 1985 isn't an easy task.

R199 I'll have to check out Sex Wish. Sounds intriguing. Harry Reems - another unsung hero of the era.

by Anonymousreply 202October 13, 2016 4:33 PM

Harry could be pretty good in certain types of roles. He once said he learned to stay within in his acting range after he did a play where he took a complex role he wasn't suited for while he was on hiatus from porn. I think he would've been good Grease if he had been cast in role of the Coach as was originally planned.

by Anonymousreply 203October 13, 2016 4:40 PM

Is Zebedy Colt the guy who stared in that porn with Spalding Gray where he makes the farmer fuck his own daughters?

by Anonymousreply 204October 13, 2016 4:45 PM

R204 Yes, "The Farmer's Daughters." Written and directed by Zebedy Colt.

by Anonymousreply 205October 13, 2016 4:49 PM

R204 Yes, he played the father. That set was a mess, due to the creep producer Leonard Kirtman, who you'd be hard pressed to find anyone to say something good about.

by Anonymousreply 206October 13, 2016 4:49 PM

R203 I'd have liked to have seen Reems in "Grease." The Hollywood establishment just wasn't ready for the guy from Deep Throat to be in a mainstream mass appeal film. Today, I don't think it would be such a big deal.

by Anonymousreply 207October 13, 2016 4:51 PM

Sounds like all of them were fucked up.

by Anonymousreply 208October 13, 2016 4:53 PM

The story Veronica Hart told about Kirtman fucking her on set was awful.

He'd also require aspiring male talent audition to jerk off to competition, telling them it was prove they could cum under pressure while he recorded them. He would use this footage in his movies. And he often wouldn't hire the men who did this. He got this cumshot footage for free.

by Anonymousreply 209October 13, 2016 5:05 PM

R209 Who was the guy who did that to Veronica Hart? Kirtman? He was a director?

by Anonymousreply 210October 13, 2016 5:07 PM
The Hollywood establishment just wasn't ready for the guy from Deep Throat to be in a mainstream mass appeal film. Today, I don't think it would be such a big deal.

Of course not, today they get their own reality show and empire.
He'd also require aspiring male talent audition to jerk off to competition, telling them it was prove they could cum under pressure while he recorded them. He would use this footage in his movies. And he often wouldn't hire the men who did this. He got this cumshot footage for free.

It's standard behavior to jerk off to competition when auditioning so they don't spend the time and money on set during production. If you can't do it in an office in front of a stranger, chances are you will waste everyone's time in front of a whole crew on set. I know the World Modeling Agency would pay the audtioner $25.

by Anonymousreply 211October 13, 2016 5:16 PM

R210 He was a director and producer. He was directing that particular movie with Veronica (Seka was the star of those movies, the footage from that shoot was made into 3 or 4 movies). She was brand new to making porn, and was doing a scene with Zebedy Colt, who was having performance issues since he is pretty much totally gay. Kirtman asked Veronica if she's like the scene to finish and she said "I don't know, I guess" and he proceeded without saying anything else, bent her over and fucked her briefly and pulled out and came on her. She said she felt like total shit after that and it was the only time she felt abused during her time as a performer.

by Anonymousreply 212October 13, 2016 5:18 PM

After my divorce 15 years ago, I moved to Irvine with the idea of trying my luck at porn, I had been oppressed and married young and was totally traumatized by my divorce, but after a lot of therapy, I decided to reinvent myself. I was told people would be open to someone like me, but I couldn't find them.

by Anonymousreply 213October 13, 2016 5:51 PM

by Anonymousreply 214October 13, 2016 5:52 PM

by Anonymousreply 215October 13, 2016 5:57 PM

In the comments on that latest piece on DDD, they said they're currently interviewing one of the other Cheerleaders. I'm guessing it's Merle Michaels (the cheerleader spanked in the library by the old guy) since she apparently kept in touch with the late Candida Royalle and was said to have positive feelings about her career in porn. She also did a lot of other movies, including several for Chuck Vincent. She wasn't the prettiest, but had some acting skills and seemed to enjoy the sex.

They also confirmed old guy in the movie, Jake Teague, is still alive despite IMDb saying he died in 1983. He's currently 89 years old and possibly the oldest living porn star. He's one year older than Candy Samples.

by Anonymousreply 216October 13, 2016 7:43 PM
She said she felt like total shit after that and it was the only time she felt abused during her time as a performer.

Well, that's saying something from someone who performed live sex shows on a dirty mattress two feet from a group of strangers five times a day on 42nd street. But hey, it's a living.

by Anonymousreply 217October 13, 2016 10:01 PM

R217 I beg your pardon. The mattress was cleaned after each show and was six feet away from the audience, not all of whom were strangers. - Veronica Hart

by Anonymousreply 218October 13, 2016 10:50 PM

I hope they do an article on the late David Morris. He was in Debbie Does Dallas also as one of the Football Jocks and was very good looking back then. He looked a bit like Tony Danza, especially in his infamous pool table scene with Marilyn Chambers in Insatiable. That led to the rumor Danza did porn. He was one that fell in to drug addiction, and contracted Hep C from his heroin use. He did a few gay movies and loops earlier in his career when he looked good, but did several after he got out of shape and always looked tired and sweaty near the end of his career. He ended up dying in Florida in 1999 of a overdose.

Write to them and suggest it R219

by Anonymousreply 220October 14, 2016 12:15 AM

I actually exchanged some messages on twitter with them, but have never suggested anything for their websites. They seem up to suggestions. It can't be easy to come up with something to write about when they don't have the interview podcasts, which seem to be slowing down a bit.

They said they interviewed the late Andrea True before she died and that they will be putting up eventually. It would be interesting to hear that one, she avoided talking about her porn career after she achieved some success in the music industry. Although More, More, More was the only real hit she had. She was on one of those VH1 one shows about one hit wonders back in 2002 and said she wanted to be remembered as a person who "gave people pleasure - with my music."

R219 David Morris did have a sexy look about him. He had a sad downward spiral, which was sad.

by Anonymousreply 223October 14, 2016 1:05 AM

R223 And even sadder he didn't die right away after overdosing, I heard he lingered on in a nursing home before dying. I didn't hear how long it was though.

Nina Hartley looks exactly the same.
This star had a very long career in porn (although his endowment was not!)

It wasn't a priority in those days. Almost all the guys were average or a little above. That's why John Holmes was such a superstar.

by Anonymousreply 244October 14, 2016 11:34 AM

R244 Randy West was one of the few male stars of the era who was 1) good looking, 2) had a good body, and 3) could act. These three factors were more important than a giant schlong. Same goes for Eric Edwards - gorgeous, hot body, and a great actor, but average endowment.

by Anonymousreply 245October 14, 2016 11:43 AM

Excuse the interruption, but I checked out this thread because I couldn't fathom who'd be interested in posting (247 total replies!) about some flash-in-the-pan straight porn actress. As far as I can tell from skimming through the posts, most of the discussion is about female porn actresses, with a smattering of old timey gay porn dudes. I have no idea who any of these people were/are.

Obviously, this thread appeals to some of the older folks here on DL, and surprisingly, many of the posters are female. Considering that this is a gay forum, I'm sincerely curious to know what was your fascination with straight porn of the 70s, and even moreso, your desire to know the life stories of some of these porn actors who seem to be rather obscure and unknown by most people nowadays. Does it stem from a sense of nostalgia for the era? Are some (most) of you the same crowd that hangs around in the soap threads, possibly for the same reason? I'm not being snarky, I'm genuinely curious.

One thing I did glean from this thread is the existence of the "Rialto Report." I'll have to check it out. Thanks.

R240 LOL

R241 A long time ago her real name was online for a time. I copied it down and later looked her up and found her the yearbook site and on facebook (although since she married her last name is different now).

R242 No I don't. I just enjoy their site. And I don't think they would be sharing this stuff other than on their own website.

R248 I'm not technically a DL eldergay yet (not even 40 yet). But you'd be surprised at the number of younger people into retro porn. Most who were in grade school or not even born yet when they originally released that have discovered these movies online and enjoy them. Some turned out way better than should have considering the limited budget and time they had to film them. Many of the stars back then were interesting back then too. I bet you won't see very many modern porn stars being discussed decades from now.

A lot of '70s porn performers were genuinely sexually adventurous and did it because it was fun, not because they were desperate to fund their next drug fix.

Juliet Anderson at R254 filled the bill -- she got into porn at 39 because she wanted to see what it was like and she just really loved sex in a positive way.

I'm a gay guy and when I was growing up in NY. I was a movie freak and as a ten year would scour the Daily News or Post movie sections daily. That's how I learned about it. But I was a good decade away from ever seeing them. In those days it was no one under 21 allowed to see hard core. But I was way before puberty so I had no interest in the sex,. They were just movies, playing on the big screen and in every town's Main Street Theater. I remember so innocently looking at the "All Male Cast" ads and wondering if they were war movies where most of the cast were guys. Clueless, I know.

by Anonymousreply 290October 14, 2016 6:41 PM

I didn't think Constance Money came off well at times in her interview, either. I didn't believe her allegations against Radley Metzger, they were too far fetched, and his had a good rep except for being cheap with what he payed the actors.

Interestingly the one anti-porn star they interviewed, Michelle Maren (who had a very short career in porn) came off pretty well for the most part. But she couldn't even give an example where she was abused in porn. The worst thing she could say was the sludgy beef stew they fed them on one set. I felt bad for her and the other real abuse she had growing up and mental illness she suffered with.

I also don't think Sharon Mitchell and Hyapatia Lee were the most honest in their interviews. Both have been accused of being dishonest in the past, and people who were connected to Hyapatia said she not only knew about the faking her death scheme to bilk fans out of money, she came up with the idea herself. Her ex husband Bud Lee got the word out that it was all a hoax pretty fast.

by Anonymousreply 292October 14, 2016 7:03 PM

John Seeman was a cute nerd, too. In the Rialto Report tape of the interview Howie Gordon did with John Seeman, Seeman came off as such a nice and genuine guy who was very conflicted about his career and where he was going next. I was happy to hear from Howie that John is doing very well these days. And in Lisa DeLeeuw's interview with Howie, she specifically talked about how wonderful John Seeman was to work with.

Ron Jeremy was kind of "ugly sexy" back in the day. He wasn't bad looking, but that cheesy moustache and that hair did nothing for him. Thank goodness he had a huge penis AND could act.

by Anonymousreply 293October 14, 2016 7:05 PM

I think Ron totally let himself go after his girlfriend Tanya Lawson dumped him in the mid 80s. But he wasn't too bad looking before that. But many of the women refused to work with him because he smelled sometimes and got fat. Ginger Lynn and a few other stars also claimed he raped them off set.

by Anonymousreply 294October 14, 2016 7:18 PM

After Mike retired and married Loni Sanders, they had to write out his character out of the Taboo series and cast Kevin as the new young stud being seduced by his mother, played by Honey Wilder starting in part 2.

No love for Amber Lynn's brother, Buck Adams?

How about the STILL active Sean Michaels?

by Anonymousreply 318October 15, 2016 6:22 AM

R307 I'm loving all these pictures and memories of Wade Nichols! For the longest time, information about his life was so sparse. It's nice to see all this information surfacing through the Interenet.

As far as the rumors of him killing himself, I think someone on the Rialto Report dispelled that rumor, and it may have been Nichols' brother who confirmed that he was hospitalized at the time of his death. The suicide story may have been concocted to cover up his AIDS death, since AIDS was such a taboo subject to discuss back in 1985.

by Anonymousreply 319October 15, 2016 12:28 PM

R316 Oh, so sexy! Years ago, the Playboy Channel had a game show that was a kind of a cross between Hollywood Squares and strip poker. There was a panel of celebrities, and two contestants (one male and one female) would answer questions posed by the celebrities. Each time a contestant got a question wrong, they would have to remove an article of clothing. Whoever had the most clothes remaining at the end of the show would win.

One episode of the show featured Ginger Lynn and Kevin James as the contestants. Thankfully, Kevin James lost and ended up in nothing but a silver thong. I think I fell in love with him when I saw him on that show. He was so hot!

by Anonymousreply 320October 15, 2016 12:33 PM

R318 I don't know much about Buck Adams, other than that he died unexpectedly of a heart attack at a young age. As far as Sean Michaels, I think I read once that he's bisexual and has a preference for threesome scenes that feature two men and one woman.

by Anonymousreply 321October 15, 2016 12:38 PM

R309 Wade Nichols' life would make an incredible move. Think about it - a gay goes to New York to be an actor. Does some nude modeling photo shoots, does some gay-oriented layout work, does a gay porn movie (Boynapped), but becomes a straight porn movie star. Has a romance with Jacques Morali, gets a record deal and puts out an album with a couple of minor disco hits (Like an Eagle, New York by Night), gets a major role on a popular soap opera and goes "legit," then dies tragically at just 38 years of age.

by Anonymousreply 322October 15, 2016 12:43 PM

Here's Wade walking around Times Square in 1979 in his cheesy video for "Like An Eagle." I love this video - such a great time capsule.

R322 Make that "movie," not "move." And I didn't mean to write "a gay goes to New York." I meant, "a gay guy goes to New York." That's what I get for not re-reading my content before I click "post."

Some more Wade Nichols info

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 325October 15, 2016 2:08 PM

R325 Thanks for the additional information. I can't wait for the Rialto Report to finish and publish the piece on Wade Nichols so all the mysteries can be cleared up.

I'm inclined to believe Wade Nichols didn't commit suicide. He died in 1985, when AIDS was still a "new" disease and wasn't fully understood. Back then, obituaries never mentioned that anyone died of AIDS - it was either "after a long illness" or there was no mention of a cause of death at all. Being as Wade Nichols was so young when he died and had achieved a certain degree of celebrity, it wouldn't surprise me that the suicide story would be the explanation for his death.

by Anonymousreply 326October 15, 2016 2:15 PM

R320 Kevin was also a very nice guy by all accounts. Nina Hartley said he was very sweet and sensitive and wasn't jaded at all like some male stars get after being in the business awhile. .

by Anonymousreply 327October 15, 2016 2:56 PM

A Wade Nichols story would make a great movie. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't die he would've continued to get legit acting roles. He was that good as an actor. Plus the male stars were given more opportunity for roles in legit than the women, even if they weren't that good as actors (see Sonny Landham and Roger Caine). The women would often have to settle or bit parts or have to be nude or playing roles like hookers or strippers.

by Anonymousreply 328October 15, 2016 3:07 PM

R328 I agree that Wade Nichols would have gone on to more mainstream roles (provided his porn past didn't catch up with him). He was superb in the movie "Take Off," playing a character from the 1920s through the 1970s - that would be a challenging role for any accomplished actor. It's so sad that he died so young. 38 years old. God, that's like a kid!

by Anonymousreply 329October 15, 2016 3:33 PM

Here's another video of "Like an Eagle" featuring Wade in a shiny gold jumpsuit doing some Travolta-esque Saturday Night Fever moves. I love this song, especially when he hits that high note!

R328 They could call the movie "Like an Eagle!" I can see Christian Bale playing Wade Nichols - put a porn stache on Bale and you've got an uncanny resemblance!

by Anonymousreply 331October 15, 2016 3:48 PM

Christian Bale is older now than Wade Nichols was when he died, no?

by Anonymousreply 332October 15, 2016 4:36 PM

R318 Buck had a nice body and was well-liked by his peers in porn. It seemed like the women also liked him a lot also, because he was frequently dating women in the business. Unfortually, I heard he was not the most open minded about gay people. His years of drug abuse led to the heart attack (the last of several) that killed him. His sister Amber Lynn can be a nasty bitch a lot of the time. Most people in the biz only put up with her because her stuff sold well. She looks like a transsexual these days since she's had so much plastic surgery on her face.

Sean Michaels has aged well. I'm guessing his work is getting sparse since he's been doing cuckold movies.

by Anonymousreply 333October 15, 2016 4:42 PM

R332. Yes; Bale is 42, so not too much older than Nichols when he died. But they'd have to make the movie, like, right now!

by Anonymousreply 334October 15, 2016 4:47 PM

R333 I barely recognize Amber Lynn these days. She has completely altered her appearance.

by Anonymousreply 336October 15, 2016 4:53 PM

Wade Nichols absolutely would NOT have not gone on to more mainstream success. That was the '70s. Soaps are actually a success story for a porn actor at the time.

by Anonymousreply 337October 15, 2016 4:57 PM

R338 I disagree, but it's a moot point. I could easily see him having success on the stage if not in TV or film.

by Anonymousreply 338October 15, 2016 5:03 PM

I think Amber must be massively insecure. She and Buck both battled addiction issues for a long time. Buck kept using coke, and heavily, for years after most of the others mostly or totally gave it up.

by Anonymousreply 339October 15, 2016 5:09 PM

No one was saying Wade was going to be a massive superstar, but he very well could've continued to be a working actor. Another soap, theater, or supporting roles in Film and TV. He was a solid actor and easy to work with.

by Anonymousreply 340October 15, 2016 5:14 PM

R339 I wonder if there was abuse in their family when they were growing up. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say "yes."

by Anonymousreply 341October 15, 2016 5:16 PM

R333 In one interview, Eric Edwards, who normally speaks so kindly and respectfully of his co-stars in the industry, said he did not enjoy working with Amber Lynn. He said she was rude and demanding. Her arrival on the scene, for him, signaled the beginning of the end of the "golden age." Starlets like her with no talent, big, fake body parts, and diva attitudes were taken the industry in a different direction.

by Anonymousreply 342October 15, 2016 5:21 PM

Amber has talked about the trauma she suffered as a child. It's on her Wikipedia article.

R343 Sounds horrific. That explains a lot. Interesting that her father died of heart failure, just like her brother. I hope she's keeping an eye on her own heart health.

by Anonymousreply 344October 15, 2016 5:28 PM

R342 Yes, she was often a total diva on sets. She also sabotaged the benefit movie they were making for director Henri Pachard, who was dying of a horrific bout of cancer because she wanted all the credit for it (and treated others who were working for free like total shit on the set). That totally turned me against her (wasn't a fan of hers before that, though).

Today Amber looks more or less indistinguishable from Jenna Jameson.

by Anonymousreply 347October 15, 2016 5:56 PM

Wade Nichols said in a interview he did with one of porn magazines that he chose his porn name because his middle name was Wade and his fathers name was Nicholas. I wonder if his father ever found out about that and if he did, what he thought about it.

by Anonymousreply 348October 15, 2016 5:57 PM

Jenna looked like she had an eating disorder at one point and had lots of bad plastic surgery. Unlike Amber though, she was naturally pretty.

by Anonymousreply 349October 15, 2016 5:58 PM

I think Jenna had issues with drinking and drugs on and off too. It must've been pretty bad, since she lost custody of her kids. Add to that the father, MMA fighter Tito Ortiz doesn't exactly seem like father of the year material himself.

by Anonymousreply 350October 15, 2016 6:06 PM

The Wade Nichols motherload is on this blog. This person is a real collector of material related to him. It has some of the interviews he gave while in porn, where he talks about his life before porn. Since it was for straight magazines he "played it straight" when it came to his claimed sexual tastes.

by Anonymousreply 352October 15, 2016 7:10 PM

R351 Really great stuff on Wade in this collection - thanks! The one interview where he supposedly has sex with the female interviewer was pretty hilarious. And the interview where he cops to doing the gay porn movie, but says he prefers women - okay, Wade, okay.

Still some really great stuff here - getting a really good picture of his short, eventful life.

by Anonymousreply 353October 15, 2016 7:16 PM

R346 The comment from Wade's friend does seem to dispel the suicide myth. He seemed to be very fond of his motorcycle and liked to take guys home on it.

by Anonymousreply 354October 15, 2016 7:17 PM

Chuck Vincent tried to play it straight also in the porn press to the fans. Everyone in the business knew he was gay, and didn't try to hide it from them. Candida Royalle said Chuck got very mad at her when she outed him as being gay in an interview she did and he wouldn't hire her for any of his movies after that.

by Anonymousreply 357October 15, 2016 7:49 PM

Yes, she looks very different without the long blonde hair and made-up.

Here is an interview she did on the Midnight Blue show while she was dancing at the Melody Burlesk. She had the short brunette hair then too. By the time they lured her into doing Debbie Does Dallas 2 few years later, she had grew her hair back out and dyed it back blonde. She seemed be under the influence of something in the interview or is really ditzy.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 358October 15, 2016 8:03 PM

porn is so different nowadays. A girl with a face like Bambi Woods' wouldn't even be allowed to be a caterer on a porn set today.

by Anonymousreply 359October 15, 2016 8:40 PM

R358 This interview is uncomfortable to watch. She definitely looks strung out, and she has a kind of drug-induced twitch that she keeps making with her head. And if you watch at the 4:40 point, after she says she paid her friend back, she kind of zones out for a few seconds like she's remembering something bad or sad. Then she says she wasn't very comfortable in her sex scene. Seems like it was a very traumatic experience for her.

I'm glad to know she's still alive. After watching this interview, I wouldn't have been surprised to have found out drugs had killed her.

by Anonymousreply 360October 15, 2016 8:44 PM

R359 You are right about porn being so different these days, but you'd be surprised how plain or rough looking many of the female porn stars from today look without a through make-up job. There was a porn make-up artist that took a bunch of before and after shots of many of them. The porn stars were very mad about them ending up online because the make-up artist told them it was for her portfolio and didn't think it was going to be published online.

If you google porn stars no make-up you should find it.

by Anonymousreply 361October 15, 2016 8:58 PM

R360 I wondered if she owed the friend money for drugs or something. She's probably one of the people who should've never done porn, but couldn't turn down the quick, easy money. After she did Debbie Does Dallas part 2 in 1981, she was supposed to have agreed to help promote it, make appearances and such, but she backed out and disappeared so had to have one of the other women in the movie do it instead.

by Anonymousreply 362October 15, 2016 9:05 PM

R362 I recently watched Debbie Does online; I hadn't seen it in ages. Bambi Woods is absolutely dreadful in it. Poor girl couldn't act to save her life, and it's obvious she wasn't enthusiastic about being in the film. Her one sex scene is indeed uncomfortable. I wouldn't be surprised if she owed her friend money for drugs and doing the movie was an easy way for her to get the cash she needed.

That's part of the reason why I hope the Rialto Report can get her to consent to an interview. I'd love to know just what motivated her to do the movie, how she felt about it, how she got out of the business without leaving a trace, and how she reinvented herself. Then again, I can understand her not wanting to revisit what was probably a very dark period in her life.

by Anonymousreply 363October 15, 2016 9:17 PM

To those who believe Wade Nichols could have broken through to more legit acting, how many male porn performers have ever done that?

by Anonymousreply 364October 15, 2016 10:07 PM

Wade was also in the "lost" 3D gay porn epic "Manhold" with Jamie Gillis. Music by Zebedy Colt. Wade/Dennis was one of the rare uncut actors.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 365October 15, 2016 10:09 PM

R364 Jamie Gillis in mainstream movies and had a small role in "Nighthawks" with Sylvester Stallone. Robert Kerman appeared in a series of mainstream horror films and had small roles in "The Goodbye Girl" and "Spider-Man." Harry Reems had a role in the TV film "A Night to Remember." Ron Jeremy has appeared in several mainstream films. Herschel Savage appeared in an episode of "Just Shoot Me" in the 1990s. Paul Thomas played Judas in the film version of "Jesus Christ Superstar."

by Anonymousreply 366October 15, 2016 10:28 PM

R365 I wish I could find a copy of Manhold. It also starred DeVeren Bookwalter, who went on to be a mainstream theater, TV, and film actor. He had a big role in Clint Eastwood's "The Enforcer."

by Anonymousreply 367October 15, 2016 10:31 PM

It's very hard to do but some have had some success. Sonny Landham did several legit movies and TV shows. So has Jeffrey Hurst, Roger Caine, Tony Erickson, and Brad Benton.

To touch on the women, Traci Lords has done more legit work than most of the members of SAG.

by Anonymousreply 368October 15, 2016 10:38 PM

R368 I forgot about Sonny Landham - 48 Hours and Predator. And don't forget - Wade Nichols had already achieved mainstream success at the time of his death. He had a leading role on a major daytime drama.

by Anonymousreply 369October 15, 2016 10:47 PM

R368 Ginger Lynn also left porn behind and had a mainstream career for a long period of time, with several film and TV roles. Still not sure why she went back to porn, unless the mainstream roles weren't coming as frequently as they used to.

by Anonymousreply 370October 15, 2016 10:48 PM

R365 DeVeren Bookwalter was also in the iconic Warhol short film, "Blow Job." He's the guy getting the blow job.

by Anonymousreply 371October 15, 2016 10:50 PM

But it's likely he would have gone no further in the mainstream. As mass media grew, his porn work would have come back to haunt him.

Porn had a certain daring in the 70s and early 80s. But videotape and AIDS changed that. It became merely sordid.

Traci Lords was able to move on somewhat because she was underage when she did porn. She could be "forgiven".

by Anonymousreply 372October 15, 2016 10:53 PM

He, meaning Dennis Parker. That said, he had a helluva lot of success.

by Anonymousreply 373October 15, 2016 10:55 PM

Traci was very shrewd and ambitious. The underage porn star thing got her foot in the door and she took it and ran with it. I've never thought she was particularly talented (as an actress or singer) but she has worked consistently for decades now. Granted her stuff after the 90s isn't great or high profile, it's still work and pays the bills.

by Anonymousreply 374October 15, 2016 11:04 PM

Daytime drama is a hell of a lot different than movies or prime time, especially during the '70s. He could have had some small parts. It's rumored that Kip Noll had an uncredited part in a Burt Reynolds movie. But the porn stigma would have proven a dead end. As for Traci Lords, women are different. Even Kardashian achieved fame when she got pissed on.

by Anonymousreply 375October 15, 2016 11:26 PM

Paul Thomas played Peter in JEEUS CHRIST, SUPERSTAR . Carl Anderson was Judas.

I recall seeing Dennis Parker on Dinah Shore's talk show plugging his single. Dinah was so turned on by him, I wouldn't be surprised if they'd had to mop the floor and air out the studio after to get rid of the fish smell.

by Anonymousreply 376October 15, 2016 11:32 PM

R376 LOL Too bad that's not on youtube, sounds amusing.

Dennis managed to get some mentions in Variety when he had some success with his music career. In one mention, it said he screen tested for a lead role in a movie with Valerie Perrine. And he got an obituary in Variety as well. It said he toured in Europe to promote his disco album.

by Anonymousreply 377October 15, 2016 11:47 PM

He probably tested for Jenner's role in the Village People movie.

by Anonymousreply 378October 15, 2016 11:50 PM

Here is the full obit for those interested:

Dennis Parker, 38, actor, who for the last five years played Police Chief Derek Mallory on the ABCTV soap opera "Edge Of Night," died Jan. 28 in New York after a brief illness. t Born in Manhattan, Parker grew up in Freeport, Long Island. He attended the Philadelphia Museum College of Art, where he concentrated on pottery and furniture design and had his first taste of acting when, while still a student, he won a role in a touring company production of "The Trojan Women." After graduating, he returned to his native New York and studied acting at New York U. and the H. B. Studio. t Parker was also an accomplished singer and instrumentalist, and several years ago toured Europe on behalf of an album he made for the Casablanca label. t He was an avid animal lover, and devoted a great deal of time working in their behalf. t Survivors include his mother and brother.

by Anonymousreply 379October 15, 2016 11:50 PM

Variety used to review porn so the obit isn't a huge thing.

Wasn't there a fairly big scandal when one of the publications made it cover news that he was in porn?

by Anonymousreply 380October 15, 2016 11:52 PM

Damn, that didn't post right. Oh well, it's still readable I guess.

Not surprisingly, no mention of his porn career.

by Anonymousreply 381October 15, 2016 11:53 PM

Variety did do some reviews of porn in the 70s, but mostly ignored it after that. They would also sometimes cover some of the porn award shows. This was also in the 70s and early 80s mostly.

by Anonymousreply 382October 15, 2016 11:57 PM

R370 Ginger had a child to support as well. I think that's also why Marilyn Chambers also returned to porn.

by Anonymousreply 388October 16, 2016 1:12 AM

Other then bit parts and a few small gigs none of them did anything memorable, certainly not enough to pay the bills. Dennis Parker's soap opera is hardly a leading role. He was a supporting player on a second tier soap. Parker gave up his ass to Jacques Morali for that disco album.

by Anonymousreply 389October 16, 2016 1:35 AM

R375 Don't know why you're so intent on trying to prove a point that no one can prove. Does it bother you that a porn star achieved some success outside the genre? I think it's been demonstrated that Nichols, as well as a good number of other actors and actresses from the adult industry, had crossover success. Why don't we just leave it that?

by Anonymousreply 390October 16, 2016 1:36 AM

R388 Marilyn Chambers - another porn star who achieved some mainstream success - "Rabid," directed by David Cronenberg.

by Anonymousreply 391October 16, 2016 1:38 AM

R389 Were you rejected by Wade Nichols once? Is that the reason for your bitterness?

by Anonymousreply 392October 16, 2016 1:39 AM

R388 It's the TV show "Nashville" 32 years before "Nashville!"

by Anonymousreply 393October 16, 2016 1:43 AM

R391 Yes, Marilyn gave mainstream a good shot, but couldn't get it going like she had hoped. She had some success in theater, music and did a string of softcore movies.

Sadly she ended up nearly broke before she died (in a trailer park). I her brother claimed she gave up everything she had so that scumbag Chuck Traynor would divorce her and let her move on with her life. She did make sure her daughter had a college fund and something to start her adult life off with, though. Her daughter seems to smart and well adjusted.

by Anonymousreply 394October 16, 2016 1:57 AM

R392 it's called reality dear. Bit parts and a walk on or two doesn't pay the bills. You have some delusion that some of these people could have actually had or had a successful mainstream acting career. They didn't and don't. Porn for the most part has always been a last resort for people.

by Anonymousreply 395October 16, 2016 2:09 AM

R395 Enjoy your bitterness. Sorry you were rejected by Nichols and never got your own acting career off the ground.

by Anonymousreply 396October 16, 2016 2:15 AM

OP, thank you for starting this thread. I am shocked Lisa deLeuww is still alive!

by Anonymousreply 397October 16, 2016 2:18 AM

I don't think someone who had a 5 year contract role on a soap would have any problems paying the bills, as long as they didn't go crazy with the money they made. Soap actors made more back than they do now.

by Anonymousreply 398October 16, 2016 2:19 AM

R397 I was happily surprised to find out she's alive, too. I hope the Rialto Report can convince both she and Bambi Woods to talk to them!

R396 sorry I'm not an eldergay and you seem a tad obsessed with an obscure porn actor who died over 30 years ago that had some very minor acting success, playing a unmemorable recurring small part on a long forgotten soap opera. No one in porn has ever had lasting success in mainstream entertainment and that success for the most part was based on them doing porn, they were/are a novelty.

Jennifer Welles says she's a normal, church-going lady nowadays, and then you scroll down and see her posing in some ugly Walmart holding up bras and panties. It just seems so sad.

Judging by her frequent crying in the interview, she's still got a lot of demons that haunt her. She regrets marrying that guy for his money and leaving her career and independence in NYC. I felt sorry for her after listening to the interview.

by Anonymousreply 408October 16, 2016 4:04 AM

R408 She was having some fun in the pictures taken at Walmart. She probably lives in a small town where nothing much happens.

I think much of the crying she did during the interview was from remembering good things and sadness at people that were no longer around (some of the people she worked with, her ex husband Marry Duran). It was the first time she had talked about this stuff in decades. She does seem to regret leaving the spotlight to marry the wealthy guy, but at that time she was in her mid 40s, so who knows how much of a career she might have had in the future. Plus the guy dumped her not long after for a younger model and she doesn't seem to have much money anymore. Reflecting on stuff like that would probably make most people emotional.

by Anonymousreply 409October 16, 2016 4:31 AM

R409 I agree; I think Jennifer Welles is happy in her life right now, but sometimes remembering past experiences and friends who are no longer here can be an emotional experience.

by Anonymousreply 410October 16, 2016 1:00 PM

R391 Chuck Traynor was a horrific person. How many lives did this guy ruin? I saw him interviewed in an E! documentary about Linda Lovelace. He just oozed slime.

by Anonymousreply 411October 16, 2016 1:57 PM

Traynor moved on to another woman to use called "Bo" who was mainly a stripper and did some nude modeling. She never came close to the fame Lovelace and Chambers achieved though. She was still married to him when he died.

While Traynor is undoubtedly a scumbag, and I don't doubt he beat her, Lovelace lied about a lot of things. She was not forced to at gunpoint to do Deep Throat and she did do several loops before that (including a few with a DOG!). She changed her stories several times over the years. Funny she ended up posing for a porn magazine and signing porn merchandise at conventions shortly before she died after decrying it for so long.

by Anonymousreply 412October 16, 2016 5:02 PM

R412 I never believed Linda Lovelace was "forced" to do porn, and I never believed Traynor held a gun to her head while she performed. Eric Edwards, who was her first loop partner (and who was there for the infamous "dog" scene), has said in many interviews that she enjoyed doing the loops and that it was Linda herself who contacted Eric and asked him to do additional loops with her.

I do think Traynor had some control over her, and I do believe there was an abusive relationship, but I don't think she was held captive or that she couldn't get away. I think she was very young and troubled when she did porn and over the years came to regret her early decisions. When feminist groups and Gloria Steinem rallied around her in the 1980s, I think she was influenced to tell the tale of the victimized woman and to denounce the porn industry. It definitely sold books. In a way, the feminist movement used Linda the same way Chuck Traynor did. The fact that she returned to posing semi-nude and re-embracing her Linda Lovelace persona in her later years was very telling.

I do feel bad that Linda Lovelace had such a difficult life and tragic end, but she I think if she had been honest and owned her choices, she would have had more respect from the public in her later years. The movie "Lovelace" got most everything wrong about her life. I hope one day the real story can be told.

That said, I think Chuck Traynor was indeed scum who used women and saw them nothing more than meat to be sold to a mass audience for his own financial gratification.

by Anonymousreply 413October 16, 2016 5:18 PM

Anyone remember Ron Hudd? He had an enormous porn-stache and was a terrible actor, but was sexy in a 1970s kind of way. He was pretty prolific from the late 70s to the late 80s, then completely disappeared off the face of the earth after 1985. Would love to know if he's still alive and what became of him.

by Anonymousreply 414October 16, 2016 5:41 PM

The anti-porn feminist threw Linda to the side once they got all they needed from her. They exploited her more than porn did.

I think she was a lost soul, so shifted shape to fit in where ever she could. I think she was bitter she couldn't parlay her fame from Deep Throat. She did a play after Deep Throat that bombed and her performance was panned. She had a hard life and had several health issues over the years, including from silicone injections into her breasts after Deep Throat.

by Anonymousreply 415October 16, 2016 5:44 PM

I think her second husband was abusive as well.

I remember right before she died when she did the non-nude shoot for that cheesy "leg art" magazine and defended it because it was "tasteful."

R414 He's still alive. I believe The Rialto Report people have interviewed him. He's on facebook also.

by Anonymousreply 417October 16, 2016 5:50 PM

R415 - That's a good description of Linda Lovelace - a lost soul who shape-shifted. I don't think she ever really grew up and longed to be accepted. She was only 53 when she died, but looked much older.

by Anonymousreply 418October 16, 2016 6:02 PM

R417 Is he on Facebook as Ron Hudd. I looked at the Rialto Report, and there are passing mentions of him in several pieces, but I didn't find any interviews.

by Anonymousreply 419October 16, 2016 6:05 PM

R416 She looks pretty good in that picture - lots of good lighting and lots of Photoshop-style touching up.

by Anonymousreply 420October 16, 2016 6:06 PM

R419 He was on there under his real name. I can't find his page at the moment. I found his page initially because he was friends with Ashley West, but he's no longer on his friends list. He looked older naturally, although not bad, so I didn't recognize him right off. He had an old pic from high school probably playing in a marching band as looked pretty much the same as he did in porn. I'll see if I can find it again later. I remember his real name.

by Anonymousreply 421October 16, 2016 6:15 PM

The new podcast with screen writer Raven Touchstone should be good. I'm friends with her on Facebook. She's a smart and interesting lady. I hope she talks about working for Eva Gabor!

by Anonymousreply 422October 16, 2016 6:20 PM

R422 I just saw they had that interview up. Looks like a good one!

by Anonymousreply 426October 16, 2016 6:45 PM

R426 There isn't any mention of what he does now for a living. No indication of his porn career. He has a grown son who was engaged to woman a few years ago. It looks like he has a good life and is happy.

Here's another recent pic of him. He still wears a more maintained mustache sometimes.

R427 I recognize a little of the Ron Hudd I know in this picture. How did you verify this guy is the real Ron Hudd?

by Anonymousreply 428October 16, 2016 7:03 PM

He was credited under his real name (not the most common name) in a movie or two and Annie Sprinkle called him by his real name once in an interview she did. That and with them saying they interviewed and him being friends with Ashley on facebook have me convinced its him.

by Anonymousreply 429October 16, 2016 7:20 PM

Here's one where he looks more Ron Huddish. Had to crop his son out.

Looking at his IMDB page, I never realized how many aliases he used in the movies. Hard to know which one is his real name.

by Anonymousreply 432October 16, 2016 8:29 PM

The Raven Touchstone interview was good. She didn't tell her working for Eva Gabor story though, damn! Although, I'm sure if she worked for DL favorite Zsa Zsa it would've been an even worse!

by Anonymousreply 433October 16, 2016 8:31 PM

R433 I listened to a bit of it. She was definitely devoted to her craft.

by Anonymousreply 434October 16, 2016 9:15 PM

R430 Just watched a scene from one of his movies where he doesn't have a moustache, and I do see the resemblance between him in that movie and this picture- mainly the smile.

by Anonymousreply 435October 16, 2016 9:16 PM

R432 There were many stars over the years that have been mistakenly credited under their real names in the movies they did. I'm sure sometimes it was someone reading the model releases wrong. Jerry Butler talked about he wasn't happy when they credited him under his real name in one movie. That was before he came up the Jerry Butler name to use as his full time porn name.

by Anonymousreply 436October 16, 2016 9:50 PM

R436 Eric Edwards is credited under his real name, Rob Everett, in the movie "Love You." Edwards thinks John Derek did that on purpose to "out" his identity, since Derek didn't like him.

by Anonymousreply 437October 16, 2016 9:55 PM

R437 Interesting that Derek didn't like Edwards (who is seemingly universally liked by everyone who knew/knows him personally) yet was friends with Annette Haven (who it was usually the other way around).

by Anonymousreply 438October 16, 2016 10:04 PM

R438 Edwards and Derek had disagreements about how the movie should be shot; Edwards talks about it in is Rialto Report interview. In addition, Derek was very mean to Leslie Bovee and told her to keep her top on because he thought she had ugly breasts (if you watch the movie, you'll see she keeps her top on in most scenes). This upset Leslie Bovee very much, so Edwards cozied up and had sex with her in his sleeping bag that night. Derek was upset that this happened, since he wanted Edwards to save the sex for the cameras. They bumped heads for the remainder of the filming.

by Anonymousreply 439October 16, 2016 10:09 PM

R439 Derek sounds like a jerk. I remember him saying it was a long, uncomfortable shoot.

by Anonymousreply 440October 16, 2016 10:17 PM

R439 Edwards also said that he thought one reason Derek made the movie was so that he could have a threesome with Bo and Annette Haven. Edwards never knew if that actually happened, though. Edwards also suspected Derek included the nude wrestling scene with Edwards and Nichols because that was also a homoerotic fantasy of Derek's.

by Anonymousreply 441October 16, 2016 10:37 PM

Maybe Derek had a thing for Edwards.

by Anonymousreply 442October 16, 2016 10:56 PM

Eric is working on an autobiography with a female writer now. His memory isn't as great as it once was though (he is 70 after all), but is trying to get it finished up. He wasn't happy with the one he did with Linda Williams that came out long ago, but didn't really get a wide release.

by Anonymousreply 443October 16, 2016 11:16 PM

R442 Edwards thinks Derek chose he and Nichols for the roles primarily for their acting abilities, but he also knew Derek was looking for people with good bodies, and Edwards and Nichols fit the bill. There may have been subliminal physical attraction on the part of Derek, which may have added to the tension.

To Edwards' credit, he said that in spite of his conflicts with Derek, he thought the movie turned out very beautifully and that once he saw the finished product, he finally understood what Derek was trying to achieve.

by Anonymousreply 444October 16, 2016 11:24 PM

Also, Edwards said the nude wrestling scene he did with Wade Nichols was very lengthy, and that he and Nichols really did get into the wrestling. Derek significantly edited the scene for the final print of the film because it got a little "too edgy." So what you see in the movie has been cut down tremendously. Would love to see the unedited footage!

by Anonymousreply 445October 16, 2016 11:34 PM

R443 I hope he finishes the book. His life story would be a fascinating read.

by Anonymousreply 446October 17, 2016 12:07 AM

It's kind of weird to say but it almost seems like porn in the 60's and 70's was more wholesome.

by Anonymousreply 447October 17, 2016 12:14 AM

R447 Porn in the 70s and 80s had actors, stories, scripts - they were "real" movies.

by Anonymousreply 448October 17, 2016 12:23 AM

Seems like porn started to go down hill in the 90's.

by Anonymousreply 449October 17, 2016 12:25 AM

When porn moved out of the theaters and onto VHS and DVD, it was no longer about trying to create something that would draw people to the movies. Now that porn could be viewed at home, it just became about the sex. Film production died, video production took over, budgets were slashed. It no longer took a lot of money and production to simply video people having sex. Nowadays, porn is more like the early days of the "loops." The "golden age" is gone.

by Anonymousreply 450October 17, 2016 12:31 AM

She has BDF.

by Anonymousreply 451October 17, 2016 12:32 AM

Porn is going downhill even more precipitously thanks to the various tube sites. You spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars to make a porno and some dink uploads it to Pornhub and soon thousands of people have downloaded it for free.

The tube sites, mostly notably Pornhub, have 48 hours to remove the video after the copyright notice is sent. That 48 hours is the reason sites like Pornhub survive.

Porn is dying as a result.

by Anonymousreply 452October 17, 2016 12:36 AM

That's why I love the Rialto Report. They're really trying to preserve the "golden age" and honor those who were the pioneers of the era. They have great respect and reverence for the people and the films they cover.

by Anonymousreply 453October 17, 2016 12:43 AM

They do a lot of research too. More than some regular "news" outlets these days. I think the main reason many of the stars from back then will speak to them, is that will absolutely not give their contact information to anyone. One director from back then was looking for an actress (who they had interviewed) he directed is several movies and knew her very well and they wouldn't give him her contact info.

by Anonymousreply 454October 17, 2016 1:13 AM

I would agree that video killed the porn machine. Having the VCRs in the home created more demand and the quality suffered.

by Anonymousreply 455October 17, 2016 1:39 AM

Porn HAD to have stories an "redeeming social value" due to the Supreme Court decisions that allowed it at the time.

by Anonymousreply 456October 17, 2016 1:53 AM

It wasn't even VCR's that killed porn. They killed them being shown in theaters. It was the emergence of the vidcams that did it. Now you could hand hold a video camera, where they used to be big machines. Now you popin a cassette and anyone could be a movie maker. No film costs , processing, costs.

by Anonymousreply 457October 17, 2016 10:34 AM

It's not just the video cameras, there was a period after Deep Throat when these movies were as much sex ed movies for adults as anything. People went to them to see how to do oral sex on a woman, give a blowjob, or see people fucking in something besides the missionary position. It was really no different than a generation of teenagers going to the Beach Party movies or watching American Bandstand to learn how to dance the twist.

It couldn't last though. After half a dozen porn movies they lost that mainstream audience and never got it back.

by Anonymousreply 458October 17, 2016 11:33 AM

R458 I don't think porn really ever went "mainstream," although there was that brief period with movies like Deep Throat and The Devil in Miss Jones when the curiosity factor was high and audiences beyond the "raincoat crowd" went to the theaters to see these movies. I think this actually energized the adult industry; production values got better, actual actors were cast in roles, and skilled directors began making films (including mainstream directors working under aliases). Though the ultimate goal for some in the industry may have been to bring adult entertainment into the mainstream, I think most realized the industry would remain on the fringe. But with the advent of home video and inexpensive camera equipment, the "sophisticated" adult industry died. We'll never know what it could have been.

by Anonymousreply 459October 17, 2016 1:40 PM

R430 Whoever you are, you are a super sleuth! Can't believe you've been able to find all these old pictures and track down these old stars like Leslie Bovee and Ron Hudd! In the words of the late Andrea True, more, more, more!

R462 Jeffrey Hurst looks great, too! His Rialto Report interview was one of my favorites. He was so articulate and intelligent and really looked back fondly on his years in the industry, with only nice things to say about the people he worked with. I loved the story he told about his mom taking all of her friends to see one of his movies! :-)

by Anonymousreply 463October 18, 2016 12:35 AM

How about Ras Kean?

by Anonymousreply 464October 18, 2016 12:37 AM

R463 He did come off very well. The Glenn Close story he told was funny yet sad at same time.

R464 Ashley West did commentary for the Opening of Misty Beethoven DVD/Bluray that came out a few years back and said he couldn't track down Ras Kean. Not sure if he has been able to since then.

by Anonymousreply 465October 18, 2016 12:49 AM

R465 I forgot the details of the Glenn Close story. Did she not remember him or did she just ignore him because she was now a "star?"

by Anonymousreply 466October 18, 2016 1:03 AM

R466 She definitely remembered him and the film. He brought up that he worked with and named the short film. And she snootily replied "oh, and you're the ac-tor" and turn around and walked away.

by Anonymousreply 467October 18, 2016 1:19 AM

R467 That's right. She was a real bitch.

by Anonymousreply 468October 18, 2016 1:22 AM

Is Jeffrey Hurst his real name? His IMDB profile page doesn't include any of the mainstream work he did.

by Anonymousreply 469October 18, 2016 1:40 AM

R469 No, it's not. His mainstream work is listed under Jeff Eagle.

by Anonymousreply 470October 18, 2016 1:45 AM

Ah, now I see. IMDB should combine his profiles. It's not like he's hiding his adult career past any longer.

by Anonymousreply 471October 18, 2016 1:51 AM

I saw a documentary on Deep Throat a few years ago, and they said that the number of people who went to see it in theaters was enormous. I think it made as much money as the top mainstream films of that year. You had normal everyday people going to see it because it was such an event. They said NY socialites were going to Times Square to watch it.

by Anonymousreply 472October 18, 2016 1:57 AM

R472 That's true. Jackie Kennedy went to see it! I was just a kid when it came out, and I didn't understand anything about it except that it was a "dirty movie." But I do remember the sensation it caused, and I remember everyone talking about Linda Lovelace.

by Anonymousreply 473October 18, 2016 1:59 AM

Is there a link to that nude wrestling scene from the John Derek movie?

by Anonymousreply 474October 18, 2016 2:05 AM

R474 Here's a link to the movie. The wrestling scene is at about the 21:00 mark.

by Anonymousreply 475October 18, 2016 2:18 AM

I never did get to see Love You. Wade looks good in it (he could look gaunt in the face sometimes) and this was around the time Eric Edwards was at his best looking.

by Anonymousreply 476October 18, 2016 2:34 AM

Wish that wrestling scene had been hotter.

by Anonymousreply 477October 18, 2016 2:48 AM

R477 Erik Edwards said that he and Wade actually wrestled for a while and that the original scene was lengthier. Derek edited the scene for the final release of the film because he thought it was "too edgy." I take that to mean a little too homoerotic for straight audiences at the time.

by Anonymousreply 478October 18, 2016 2:51 AM

R476 I agree that Erik Edwards was at the top of his game physically in this one. He was so sexy in this one.

by Anonymousreply 479October 18, 2016 2:52 AM

R475 Also note that Leslie Bovee has her top on in most every scene in the movie. That's because John Derek told her she had ugly breasts and insist they be covered. What a guy.

by Anonymousreply 480October 18, 2016 2:53 AM

Annette was just gorgeous, she could have had a straight modeling career. Heard alot through The Rialto she was bit off kilter

No it made more. It was only an hour in length. They had shows every hour an fifteen minutes. In NY first run films were $3.50 and "Deep Throat" was an unheard of at the time $5.00 for an non roadshow extravaganza.

by Anonymousreply 482October 18, 2016 3:01 AM

R482 Eric Edwards said she was very upset and cried about it and he "comforted" her, which pissed Derek off even more.

by Anonymousreply 484October 18, 2016 3:05 AM

The Devil in Miss Jones was a bit hit the box office too. It along with Deep Throat and Behind the Green Door made more money than many legit films at the time.

R34 OMG. I just checked out Annette Haven's Facebook page. She's having a feud with some woman she took in and who now apparently owes Annette money. Dave Ruby was another one of my favorite vintage male stars. He was hot in goofy, nerdy way. R492 There are times were she's not having some type of drama, but she seems to make a big deal about small things often. It's like a train wreck. She often complains about her estranged husband in various ways, like how he won't be certain bills he agreed on, how he just wanted to be "Mr. Haven", about how tried running her over with his car, and so on. She complains that people are not to pm her again, she's not going to blow out her shoulder again. And then there are the times when she goes berserk on fans. Don't dare call her work porn. She doesn't like the porn industry and the nearly all the people in it, she considers them trash.

R493 The probably did record it, but they just didn't post it in audio form because he wasn't one of the well known stars and they also has quite a bit of photos of his to present to accompany it. I think they record all of the full length interviews they do.

by Anonymousreply 495October 19, 2016 3:29 PM

How about Bobby Astyr?

by Anonymousreply 496October 19, 2016 3:52 PM

Bobby died in 2002 after a long bout with cancer. I don't believe The Rialto Report folks got to interview him before that. He was a strange looking little guy. But didn't mind seeing him naked on screen for some reason.

by Anonymousreply 497October 19, 2016 5:23 PM

Bobby did manage to get into Playgirl's photo layout on the straight male porn stars back in 1983.

by Anonymousreply 498October 19, 2016 5:27 PM

In her day she was a true standout cut blonde. Nowadays with the thousands and thousands of girls who have invaded the pron industry seeking fame and fortune, some super attractive, others, not so much, Bambi Woods would hardly stand out today against the many of the hotties a viewer has to choose from.

by Anonymousreply 499October 19, 2016 5:35 PM

by Anonymousreply 500October 19, 2016 5:36 PM

R501 Bobby Astyr actually had a pretty tight, lean body. Kinda sexy. He was in a long-term relationship with porn actress Samantha Fox, and she was his caregiver when he got ill. She said she became a recluse after his death. No one's heard much from her in a while.

by Anonymousreply 502October 20, 2016 1:00 AM

Bobby played the kooky, off beat characters well.

I don't think Samantha was all that much in touch with others even before Bobby died. She stayed in contact with a few people from the porn industry over the years. I used to exchange with one person who kept in touch with her, and they said that Samantha was more bitter about the lack of money she made, in contrast to all the money people in the biz had made off of her. She's not as bitter otherwise as some claim she is. The people who made the Jack Wrangler doc convinced her to give an on-screen in interview. She looked pretty good still, older of course, but still like herself. You can see more of the interview on youtube.

Don't know if she granted The Rialto Report folks an interview or not. If it happened, I'm surprised it hasn't been posted yet. She was a big star and has an interesting story to tell.

After the show, Veronica Hart talked to her and told her she had no idea she had been hurting so much and asked her why she never opened up about it. Samantha Fox didn't really answer, and the two have rarely spoken since.

by Anonymousreply 505October 20, 2016 11:27 AM

R504 Constance Money did not age well. She's another one who seems to blame others for her choices. I don't think she takes much responsibility for her decisions.

A cute picture of Bobby and Samantha.

R505 I have heard about that talk show appearance. It was around 20 years ago it aired. Veronica felt ambushed and had no idea of Samantha's feelings. I think she had a lot of stressful stuff going on in her life and that time and Bobby had been ill, so she was very miserable at that time. She did grant AVN an interview in 2001 when she was inducted into their hall of fame and wrote them a letter after Bobby died along with the Wrangler doc interview. But she did not participate in the Roommates interview intended for the remastered DVD release that Veronica and Kelly Nichols did do. Here's a link to the outtakes from the Jack Wrangler dog were she is mostly positive in her interview. She credits porn for saving her from potentially life on the streets and maybe even death. However she doesn't seem to like the direction the industry took. She first appears at 11 minutes in and can be seen a few different times throughout the rest.

R506 I would've never guessed that was her if she wasn't identified. She looks much older than her age and very hard. I can't help but wonder how that happened. Lots of drugs or maybe was seriously ill?

She appeared on an episode of Donahue where she and Zak Spears...using his real name trashed the industry and a lot of the people in it, obviously old Zak changed his mind at some point.

by Anonymousreply 509October 20, 2016 3:08 PM

R509 Yes, several porn stars have trashed it and returned to it afterwards. People often change their minds and of course porn is a fast and easy paycheck.

by Anonymousreply 510October 20, 2016 3:20 PM

When he came back to porn Zak got into some super nasty and kinky stuff, seemed like he was having issues.

by Anonymousreply 511October 20, 2016 5:14 PM

R511 I liked Zak early in his career, but lost interest pretty quickly. He seemed to have very big fanbase when he was active however.

by Anonymousreply 512October 20, 2016 9:53 PM

R505 She looks great in that interview - very healthy! And based on the interview, it sounds like her time away from the industry gave her an opportunity to reflect on her experience. She does come across very positive, and I like that she spoke especially nicely of Chuck Vincent; I've read nothing but wonderful things about him from everyone who worked with him. Hell, even that cuckoo Jerry Butler wrote in his autobiography that he loved Chuck so much he wished he could have given himself to Chuck sexually.

Samantha sounds very level headed and seems to have come out of everything a better person. I'm glad I saw this. Thanks for sharing!

by Anonymousreply 513October 21, 2016 2:14 AM

R514 Yes, she seems to be at peace with that part of her life now. She's stayed in shape because after leaving porn, she became an aerobics instructor for seniors and did that for some time. It's great she spoke well of Chuck. He really helped her career, gave her a lot of great roles that could show what she could do and her career really took off.

by Anonymousreply 514October 21, 2016 2:31 PM

Gloria Leonard was interviewed on a '80s talk show, not a big one. She talked about her job, she was proud of it, etc. The host asked her if she wanted her daughter to go into porn. She said absolutely not because of what she'd seen and experienced and also, she did this so her daughter could have a better life. She didn't want her daughter to follow in her footsteps.

by Anonymousreply 515October 21, 2016 5:00 PM

R515 Marilyn Chambers also said in an interview after being asked, that she didn't want her daughter to do porn. After Marilyn died, Vivid remade Behind the Green Door and had Marilyn's daughter McKenna appear, although in a non-sex capacity.

by Anonymousreply 516October 21, 2016 5:25 PM

R515 I can't see how any mother could encourage a daughter to go into porn. It's not a career path most people seek out.

by Anonymousreply 517October 22, 2016 12:58 AM

Yeah, but many of these mothers aren't stable to begin with. I've heard some who say they want their daughters or sons to be happy and if going into porn made them happy, great. That's why I thought Leonard's statement was interesting. Her look-a-like daughter was in the audience.

by Anonymousreply 518October 22, 2016 4:02 AM

I think you'd have to have your head on completely straight before tackling a career in porn today. It's not like the golden age when porn told stories and had scripts, professional productions, crews, and actors. It's a completely different industry today.

by Anonymousreply 519October 22, 2016 12:32 PM

Then you've got Chance Caldwell, a big 1980s and 1990s gay porn performer, who these days does straight porn with his son, Jerry Kovacs. Awkward!

Gloria and Marilyn's daughters seem to have turned out very well adjusted. Veronica Hart, Kelly Nichols and Eric Edwards kids seem to be "normal" as well. Contrast to that, Linda Lovelace's kids seem to be troubled. One of the tabloids several years ago did a article on their arrests and various other troubles.

by Anonymousreply 528October 22, 2016 2:55 PM

R528 I haven't read anything about Linda Lovelace's kids. That's sad. I know that Eric Edwards raised his sons as a single father and that one of his sons still lives with him, so it sounds like they're close.

by Anonymousreply 529October 22, 2016 3:01 PM

R533 Damn, Ron Jeremy was actually sexy back then! I always thought crazy Jerry Butler was hot, too - he had those power thighs! Out of all of 'em in this layout, though, Eric Edwards is still the sexiest. I'm not familiar with this David Sandler guy at all.

by Anonymousreply 534October 22, 2016 3:24 PM

R534 A few years after the layout, Ron started letting himself go. Funny enough, the more overweight he became, the more famous he became.

by Anonymousreply 535October 22, 2016 3:39 PM

R534, it was the concept of the ordinary guy fucking the hot chick. Jeremy benefited from the big duck and overall sleaziness. DYK he made his debut in one of Kip Noll's first directorial projects. It was a solo, thankfully.

by Anonymousreply 536October 22, 2016 3:41 PM

R534 Give me lean, sexy Ron Jeremy. I absolutely can't watch any of his recent porn.

by Anonymousreply 537October 22, 2016 3:44 PM

R537, but you're a gay guy. Straight guys were thinking that was them, fat Ron, up there fucking Christy Canyon.

by Anonymousreply 538October 22, 2016 3:46 PM

R538 I get that. I think that's one reason why "Debbie Does Dallas" was so popular. The average older dude, Mr. Greenfeld, is the only guy in the movie who gets to nail Debbie. Still, when I'm watching my porn, prefer aesthetically pleasing bodies, regardless of gender.

by Anonymousreply 539October 22, 2016 3:49 PM

One of the grossest things I've seen was Ron Jeremy (then in his mid 40s) having sex with an 87-year-old granny. Then there was the time he did a woman who must've weighed at least 500 lbs.

by Anonymousreply 550October 29, 2016 1:53 AM

R549 Oh, Annette - "I had never realized how beautiful I am." I do want to see this movie, mainly for the true golden age performers, not for the new crop.

by Anonymousreply 551October 29, 2016 1:56 AM

R550 Karen Summers wasn't very pretty, but she could act pretty well and seemed to like sex. Her work for Kirdy Stevens in particular was good. Think that made up for the lack of prettiness for some. There were uglier stars around the same time like Tantala Ray (Jerry Butler called her Tarantula in his book) and Viper come to mind.

R551 There was another documentary that came out last year on Showtime called "X-Rated: The Greatest Adult Movies of All Time" that had some questionable choices in there, and started getting unwatchable when they got to the post 90s stuff.

by Anonymousreply 552October 29, 2016 2:13 AM

Karen Summer sometimes had a bigger treasure trail than most guys! It went all the way up to her belly button. Seems like there is a fetish for that out there,

by Anonymousreply 553October 29, 2016 2:28 AM

R552 Yes; I agree with you on X-Rated: The Greatest Adult Movies of All Time." It was definitely tilted toward 90s porn and beyond and they short-shrifted the 70s and 80s. I wouldn't classify anything created in the 90s as "the greatest of all time."

by Anonymousreply 554October 29, 2016 1:31 PM

R554 There were some decent movies in the 90s, but nothing too great. Most of the stars couldn't act very well and the directors from this time (up until now) usually weren't good enough to get a good or even decent acting performances out of them. Most of the women just cared about building a name and credits for their stripping careers and most of the men were just meat puppets. The Parody's put out today are mostly horrible. One clip from a Star Trek parody with Seth Gamble attempting to act was cringe worthy. I stopped watching at that point.

by Anonymousreply 555October 29, 2016 3:32 PM

R555 Yeah, I can't watch the parody porn. The porn of the 70s and 80s is what I watch to see acting, plot, and direction.

by Anonymousreply 556October 29, 2016 4:31 PM

I found this clip a couple of days ago - it's from last year, when a bunch of "golden age" stars reunited to promote an art collection featuring vintage adult movie posters. It's brief and really focuses on Long Jeanne Silver, but you do get so see a lot of the legends - Kelly Nichols, Herschel Savage, Erik Edwards, Annie Sprinkle, Kitten Natividad...

by Anonymousreply 558October 30, 2016 2:00 PM

R557 It's cool seeing the golden ager's having reunions. They have been several smallish ones at events, and sadly at memorials for those who died.

R558 Bella is far from conventionally beautiful, but I can see why she was popular (well, besides the extremes she went to on camera) she had a certain it factor to her and had a nice body.

I think the ugliest porn star I have ever seen was Bisexual Britni. She was brutal looking, and looked like "Hatchetface" from Crybaby. (with apologies to Hatchetface for the comparison).

553, it's true, a lot of straight men love a treasure trail on a woman. I used to shave mine, but my ex-husband wouldn't let me and then had me using a eyebrow pencil to darken it. I'm pretty hairy and I used to be ashamed of it, but now I find there is a lot of straight men who are really into hair.

by Anonymousreply 561October 30, 2016 9:31 PM

What about Seka? She was doing anal, facials, DPs, etc., long before they were in vogue, yet it somehow wasn't as trashy then as it is today. I saw one clip where the guy went from her pussy to her ass, back to her pussy (unwashed!) and finished in her mouth. I hope she got paid extra for that!

by Anonymousreply 562November 3, 2016 11:21 AM

Seka's still around. I've seen her do some interviews. She looks okay. She was never one of my favorites.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 563November 3, 2016 11:28 AM

I remember seeing an interview with Seka in the 80s on the Playboy Channel. She was at the height of her popularity, and I thought she came across so arrogant and diva-like, treating the interviewer as if he was holding court with Meryl Streep herself. I also clearly recall her saying she got "six figures plus" per film, which I knew even then was a pile of BS.

I dunno. She's just never been my favorite.

by Anonymousreply 564November 3, 2016 1:16 PM

R562, good gravy OP that's so dangerous. My ex-husband did that with me once and I wound up with a nasty case of giardia!

by Anonymousreply 565November 3, 2016 1:34 PM

Seka was very pretty, but I always thought she came across as being somewhat could. Yes, she did do facials, anals and dps before it was the norm and didn't come across as trashy like when more modern stars did it. Still, I have the feeling she did all for the extra money. It didn't seem like she was really into it like say Vanessa Del Rio was.

Seka had a bad habit of lying about stuff and being called out on it. On Morton Downey Jr's show back in the 80s, she claimed she owned 10 adult book stores at age 25. She claimed in earlier interviews to owning one and she started in porn prior to turning 25 and sold the book stores. She got mad and walked out. Downey was being an asshole, but he was right in calling her out on that obvious lie. Here's a link to that. Jerry Butler also called her out on lies in his book about her working with him when she hadn't (and he had a big dick) and how she claimed to be in porn only because she enjoyed it and money was no object, despite her commanding some of the highest salaries back then.

by Anonymousreply 566November 3, 2016 2:13 PM

R566 Morton Downey Jr. was a pig, especially in this segment. I probably would've walked off, too. I highly doubt Seka owned 10, let alone 1, bookstore, though. I did like Gloria Leonard in that segment. She was a smart woman and could debate the blowhards like nobody's business.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 570December 23, 2016 12:24 AM

R570 This isn't really her, is it? I know it's been many years, but I see absolutely no resemblance to the woman at the top of the page.

by Anonymousreply 571December 23, 2016 4:45 PM

I'm not R570 but that is probably her.

The guy that wrote the ebook on Amazon exposed her real identity awhile back tried selling the story to The National Enquirer and they investigated it and it apparently checked out. They didn't offer the guy as much money as he thought it was worth so he put the ebook together. There was another older picture of her in it, which looked more like her, with short dark hair like in that school photo and youtube interview from the late 70s posted earlier.

He not only exposed her identity but her (grown) kids and immediate families as well. I thought it was a crappy thing to do. It doesn't look like she's had the easiest life since her time in porn. Her husband was shot and killed, she had to raise two kids on her own, most likely without much money.

by Anonymousreply 572December 23, 2016 5:27 PM

I remember reading in Hustler magazine that Francis Ford Coppola directed a porn movie under an alias. Does anyone know what movie that could be?

He was a huge adult film fan and went to the porn awards one year back in the '70s.

by Anonymousreply 573December 23, 2016 5:38 PM

R569 I heard that about Morris from a few other performers who worked with him and from a guy who is writing a book on the history of porn who has interviewed a lot of people from back then who are still alive and willing to talk. He was apparently a relatively intelligent guy also, so it's a shame his life ended the way it did. From the sleuth work you've done, it sounds like a few of his brothers have their share of issues too.

by Anonymousreply 574December 23, 2016 6:27 PM

Her maiden name was Colleen Marlis and she attended Our Lady of Mercy Academy in Syosset, Long Island, graduating 1978. She got into drugs, borrowed money from a friend, then did Debbie Does Dallas to earn money to pay the friend back. But she DIDN'T pay the friend. So the friend took her to a strip club to work for the money to pay back. More drugs, more whoring. Rinse and repeat.

Eventually she married a cop surnamed Hageman in NJ or update NY somewhere, who was killed in the late 90s apparently. Wanna bet he was one of her johns?

No kids.

She had a younger brother, Christopher Marlis, who died in 2008. Then her mom died in 2009.

Anyway, yes that's her in the picture, taken in 2012. Yes, that's her face. Look at the movie poster of Debbie Does Dallas and you'll see that same smile.

Greetings: Written in 2011 and published in 2014 Porn Dead:Whatever Happened to Bambi Woods? is available on Amazon e book. It provides her real name and identity along with a bunch of other correct information. A fairly recent photo is provided towards the end. The information in the book is correct and legally verified.

I would also like to note in all fairness to myself that the people at TRR were able to uncover her true identity and such as a direct result of reading my story. We talked via email a couple years ago. While I am a huge fan of TRR I think in all fairness they should acknowledge they tracked her down via my e book and not some huge investigation. I also shared with them that Lisa Dee Leeuw is still alive. Regards, Charlie Imus

R583 Does Bambi have a Facebook presence at all?

by Anonymousreply 584January 12, 2018 2:22 AM

She did at one point if she does its hard to find. I will say after I released a photo of her in my e book released in 2014 (obtained in 2011) that her son released a photo of him and his mom in 2015 (she is not namedin picture but its her) and as I previously stated her sister released an old family picture on FB in June 2015.

There is also an online article in late 2012 with a picture of her in it clear as day and she was interviewed. The article was not about who she was or her former career. I already knew what she looked like at that point as I had my unreleased photo but it was the first official public photo in ages she must have been nervous. Regards, Charlie Imus

by Anonymousreply 585January 12, 2018 7:09 PM

I would also like to note that despite the subject matter I made a point of keeping the book clean. I also kept some information out of the story to purposely avoid taking it down the dark path. That would have been way too easy and in my opinion irresponsible. I am proud that I kept the story above board and clean.

Regards, Charlie Imus

R588 I don't see any resemblance whatsoever between the woman in that picture and Bambi Woods. I'm not saying it couldn't be her; I just don't see anything that looks remotely like the girl in Debbie Does Dallas.

by Anonymousreply 589January 13, 2018 12:12 PM

That is her in the picture believe it or do not. Fast forward from 1978 to 2012 and children (34 years) lol. If you see what she looked like even shortly after her porn life in the 1980's she was already heavier and growing her hair out to its natural brown color. As to the question her post porn life is discussed in my story.

by Anonymousreply 590January 13, 2018 1:19 PM

R590 There is nothing in her face that harkens back even the slightest bit to Bambi Woods. Even as people age, you see hints of their younger selves. There's nothing here at all. How can you be sure this is her?

by Anonymousreply 591January 13, 2018 1:23 PM

R588 Look at the nose of the woman in that picture, then look at the nose in the picture of Bambi Woods at the top of the thread. Not even close. I don't think this is her.

by Anonymousreply 592January 13, 2018 1:24 PM

To the comments in 575 there are more siblings and there are children. I always wondered if he was in fact her John. I will tell the continue Debbie Doubters that the information in my book is legally verified and if you look at the then and now photo at the end of my story and compare you will see that lthough she is heavier her facial features (eyebrows/cheeks/etc are in fact quite similiar even her voice is the same and yes I know this for certain) Like I stated already her sister posted up an old family photo.

If you think she should look like she did in 1978 well you may be disappointed. If you choose not to believe it no matter what proof is presented well nothing I can do. Much of the information about her online is incorrect. My story is a detailed investigation that I wrote for the love of the game. If you choose to read it cool if not thats ok.

by Anonymousreply 593January 13, 2018 1:39 PM

I can definitely buy that it's her. It's not obvious compared to most of the old pics and screenshots but when she was smiling, yes.

In fact, even in the poster art I think her features match up with the picture of Colleen Hageman, same eyes

R593 Look, I wouldn't expect her to look the same as she did in 1978, but I just don't see anything matching up in the facial features. I recently saw a current picture of Lesllie Bovee, and although she's nearly 70 years old now, I could immediately tell it was her - the eyes, the nose, the smile.

I'm not doubting you did your homework and your research - I'm just questioning that photo. If you've verified that Bambi Woods' real name is Colleen Hageman, is the Collen Hageman in that picture the same Colleen Hageman that was once Bambi Woods? How do you know her voice? Did you speak with her? Did she acknowledge that she is indeed Bambi Woods? She had a very distinctive voice in the film, so that might be one way to verify if this is really her.

I don't have a Kindle, so I can't download the book and read all about it, unfortunately.

R595 How do you know this? Do you have access to a Facebook page for her?

Greetings: As I discuss in The National Enquirer section in my story the information is was legally verified. Additionally there were lawyers and NDA's signed among other things so please understand I can be free about most things but some specifics I can not discuss. I am sure if you think about it their are multiple legal non threatening ways to achieve one's goals. As someone else stated yes her eyes are the same.

There are also many topics that many people like to discuss or ask me questions after they read my story. So much more information and stories in stories. The daughter is a Dom yes and she hates to discuss or acknowledge her mom to strangers. If you know her alter ego name you can find some interesting things. Additionally photo bucket has some interesting pictures. Colleen and her daughter outed themselves with teasers on the fake but clever Yesbutnobutyes interview. Of course I discuss in detail all this in my book. The son is an interesting detail as well. Regards and thanks for keeping everything civil. Charlie Imus (my book is nonfiction and that is def 1000 percent her under oath on the record)

Yes that Colleen Hageman is the lady that starred as Bambi Woods in the 1978 xxx film Debbie Does Dallas and parts 2&3. There are other Colleen Hagemans but that is the one that is her. I know because way before that article in 2012 came out with her picture, I already wrote Porn Dead. Additionally, I already obtained a picture of her and heard her voice. This was after The National Enquirer and I could not come to an agreement financially after they verified all my information and made me an offer. She has confirmed who she is but does not want to be bothered by it this late in life because of all the shame and such associated with it. Regards, Charlie

I have to laugh at you signing off with "regards" after typing that sentence.
