Do you think Trump will be elected?

At times I am overwhelmed with worry that he will be elected, I know Mary! What do you think? I remember feeling so pessimistic that George W would get a second term because out of 12 people in my office I was the only one voting for Kerry. It feels that way again.

by Anonymousreply 450February 7, 2020 1:37 AM

I think Hillary will be elected, unfortunately. Trump would be a refreshing change from the political elites.

by Anonymousreply 1May 27, 2016 11:03 PM

Yes. Hillary is going down like the Hindenburg.

by Anonymousreply 2May 27, 2016 11:06 PM

Yes, he will.

by Anonymousreply 3May 27, 2016 11:08 PM

I think he's going to get bored by August and just make this a joke which will lead to his losing and Madame President winning along with some down ticket Dems. The secret is that HRC will appeal to the moderates in the Republican party and garner their woman vote.

by Anonymousreply 4May 27, 2016 11:08 PM

Honestly, Trump stands a very good chance of actually getting elected.

by Anonymousreply 5May 27, 2016 11:09 PM

No of course not.

by Anonymousreply 6May 27, 2016 11:11 PM

Yes I think Trump will be our next President. I am not sure what he stands for so I have no idea what direction the country will go. It could go well or very badly. A roll of the dice.............

by Anonymousreply 7May 27, 2016 11:14 PM

Despite the Hillbots cult-like insistence, many non-Republicans, though aware Trump is a buffoon, don't like her much better. He won't likely win, but she'll have no coat tails. At this point, there ought to be back channel exploration of ditching her for Biden. The Bernie Bros would deal with it eventually

by Anonymousreply 8May 27, 2016 11:14 PM

No, Amurica's a low-brow, crude country, but there's a limit to it. I'd never defend Amerikkka again if he's elected, but I still believe most of us aren't racist douchebags. Trump's a totally unqualified, orange reality-star, it would be profoundly embarrassing for us to elect the freak. Why doesn't he just wear a wig anyway, the comb-over is bizarre.

by Anonymousreply 9May 27, 2016 11:15 PM

It's not about liking Clinton or not, it's about money and stability. Most republicans want to make sure we don't get into a pissing match with other countries thus they'll vote the status quo bc that keeps their money safe.

by Anonymousreply 10May 27, 2016 11:17 PM

Interesting

Most Republicans just voted for Trump. Where the hell have you been??!

by Anonymousreply 13May 27, 2016 11:31 PM

I'm often known to be incorrect and just wishful thinking.

by Anonymousreply 14May 27, 2016 11:32 PM

Trump was not all bad. He did knock out Lyin' Ted, low energy Jeb, and liddle' Marco.

by Anonymousreply 15May 27, 2016 11:33 PM

If he does we can comfort ourselves knowing it'll age him tremendously.

The map seems to favor Clinton though and there's a lot of passion in the hispanic communities as you can see by the recent spate of violent protests and by the fact that many more are becoming US citizens just to vote in this election. Trump also has the gender gap and historically women come out to vote on a higher rate than men.

I think we'll get an idea where this is going once we get rid of Sanders. He's a definite pain in the ass and maybe he can be that pain in the ass towards Trump.

Who they both pick for VP might also make a difference.

by Anonymousreply 16May 27, 2016 11:36 PM

When Bernie drops out and he throws his support to her, Hillary's numbers will soar. Plus, the electoral college breakdown makes it virtually impossible for Trump to be elected

by Anonymousreply 17May 27, 2016 11:38 PM

If Trump picks a Latino VP, its over for Hillary. He will win in a landslide. Even without a Latino VP, I still think he will win.

by Anonymousreply 18May 27, 2016 11:39 PM

The good people of America will come together and soundly DEFEAT Donald Trump! We didn't work so hard to make this a Great Nation to have a bad game show host represent us to the world!!

by Anonymousreply 19May 27, 2016 11:40 PM

Nor did we work this hard to have a corrupt, entitled sanctimonious cow represent us again.

by Anonymousreply 20May 27, 2016 11:42 PM

R18 If Trump picks a Latino VP -it's over for Trump!

by Anonymousreply 21May 27, 2016 11:42 PM

Why wouldn't Hillary pick Warren? She's already being a terrific attack-dog surrogate for her, and she'd help shore up the Bernie crowd. I wish Warren would've run herself, she probably would've won.

by Anonymousreply 22May 27, 2016 11:43 PM

He won't have the faintest idea what to do, and he will pick all bad people.

by Anonymousreply 23May 27, 2016 11:44 PM

No way he wins after the commericals get started... Hillary will destroy him.

R24 if 14 other GOP candidates couldn't knock him off spending over 1 billion in negative advertising, how do you expect Clinton to do it? He is Teflon/

by Anonymousreply 26May 28, 2016 12:14 AM

Those ridiculous men and woman? They AGREED with him, largely shared his GOP policies of Destruction and hate. How exactly were they going to fight him?? Clinton will make him seem like raging impulsive child he is. He Is so grossly unfit, "I LIKE Conflict! I like keeping people on edge!" He is a destructive, mentally ill lunatic.

"Trump would be a refreshing change from the political elites. "

Ideally, but not actually. Sorry, Millennia van Hipster.

by Anonymousreply 28May 28, 2016 12:34 AM

Trump personnifies the rotten underbelly of American crony capitalism. What part of "His companies exist to launder money for the mob" don't you get?

by Anonymousreply 29May 28, 2016 12:35 AM

Trump's policy positions aren't traditionally Republican, so I wouldn't necessarily say that all of the other Republican candidates agreed with him.

by Anonymousreply 30May 28, 2016 12:38 AM
Why wouldn't Hillary pick Warren?

It's a possibility, but it's not that likely.

For one thing, there's a Republican Governor of MA, so the Democrats would lose a seat in the Senate.

by Anonymousreply 31May 28, 2016 12:48 AM

It's just so hard to believe there are so many people foolish enough to vote for him but W got a second term.

by Anonymousreply 32May 28, 2016 1:06 AM

I agree with R12.

It scares the shit out of me but yes I agree. How have we come to this?

by Anonymousreply 33May 28, 2016 1:15 AM

Right now Hillary is being hurt by Sander supporters. Since so many of them are so young you wonder if they have the maturity to see the damage a Trump presidency would cause. But here's the words of some of those Sander's supporters:

"Jackie Becerra, 28, an executive assistant who lives in Lake Forest, also said she was leaning toward voting for Mr. Trump if Mr. Sanders was not the Democratic nominee. She said that she doubted Mr. Trump would keep his promise to build a wall along the border with Mexico, and that, even though his proposal to bar foreign Muslims from entering the United States made her “nervous,” she did not believe he could stop people from coming into the country based on their religion.

Everyone is like: ‘Trump has these terrible social issues. He hates Muslims and he hates the L.G.B.T. community,’ ” she said. “But our world is big enough that he’s not actually going to implement any of those changes in a realistic way. But what he will do is potentially audit the federal government, and he will try to break up some of the banks and try to at least influence government that way. However, with Hillary, it will just be a complacent, run-of-the-middle-of-the-road presidency."

Here's another opinion that's truly disturbing as it's coming from a middle aged man: '"Victor Vizcarra, 48, of Los Angeles, said he would much prefer Mr. Trump to Mrs. Clinton. Though he said he disagreed with some of Mr. Trump’s policies, he added that he had watched “The Apprentice” and expected that a Trump presidency would be more exciting than a “boring” Clinton administration.

A dark side of me wants to see what happens if Trump is in,” said Mr. Vizcarra, who works in information technology. “There is going to be some kind of change, and even if it’s like a Nazi-type change, people are so drama-filled. They want to see stuff like that happen. It’s like reality TV. You don’t want to just see everybody be happy with each other. You want to see someone fighting somebody.”

Ok there you have it and this is coming from Sander supporters. I can see why you're worried.

A raft of polls in recent days has shown a sharply tighter presidential race, with Hillary Clinton's lead over Donald Trump shrinking to just a couple of points. Those polls have generated a lot of questions: Just how reliable is polling this far in advance of an election? What's causing the polls to shift? Can Trump actually win?

Here are some key questions and answers.

by Anonymousreply 37May 28, 2016 4:28 AM

I just know Hillary will do something totally tone deaf, like getting a knee jerk liberal Hispanic running mate. She needs to pick a moderate white male so that white men will feel less uneasy.

by Anonymousreply 38May 28, 2016 4:38 AM

Hillarys problems have nothing to do with Sanders, and any claim to the contrary is a Hill fan rationalizing away her faults.

Her problem has always been the same. It's why she lost the nomination to Obama. It's why women don't rally to her like you'd think. It's because she always flip flops and people feel they can't trust her, and that's something you can only get away with if you have great charisma, and she doesn't. Before you say Trump also flip flops, yes he does, but his fans don't care because they like him. He's charismatic. An asshole, a born rich silver spoon entitled narcissist, a bully and a boor, but charismatic and often funny. Sorry, but his Pocahontas joke about Warren was funny, and his jokes about Kasich eating like a pig at the trough are funny because they are true. Kasich DOES stuff his face with food and it Is gross!

Hillarys message has been all over the map. sanders is consistent. Call him Crazy Bernie all you want, he knows what he wants to do. There is no confusion about his message. Trump says one thing then another, but he says it all in an amusing way. Hillary has never been honest and forthcoming about who she is. She is really a hawk with a keen interest in and respect for the military (don't forget her father was a military man), she's almost a Thatcher like figure in many ways. Yet then she goes and writes tripe like It Takes a Village, all this gushy, gauzy, vaguely feminist PC gunk that simply isn't who Hillary really is.

Margaret Thatcher owned her shit, she owned the fact that she was The Iron Lady. She didn't pretend she was this soft, feminine, tender flower. It's impossible for voters to get a grip on Hillary because she doesn't reveal anything authentic. She presents this hard, inaccessible mask. This is why she will probably lose to Trump.

by Anonymousreply 39May 28, 2016 4:42 AM

Hillary will be fine, in fact she'll win. we're nuts as a country, but we're not stupid enough to elect trump. ain't happening cunts.

by Anonymousreply 40May 28, 2016 4:46 AM

R39 = typical stupid murican voter

by Anonymousreply 41May 28, 2016 4:49 AM

American needs to hit bottom, realize that it is yet another great power whose glory days are past. Trump's election will reiterate that reality.

by Anonymousreply 42May 28, 2016 4:55 AM

Trump will win. There is nothing that can be said against him that matters anymore. He has shown his colors over and over, and people just don't care. So..no matter how badly he does in the debates against Clinton, no matter how scathing her commercials are, no matter what dirt comes out on him...PEOPLE DON'T CARE. He pushes the right buttons, says what people want to hear .--tighten immigration, destroy terrorists, stop making products offshore -- and people aren't smart enough to know that he has no clue how to do any of that. Just the fact that he says it is enough for them. And those who don't like him and don't like Hillary are just not going to vote. And a lot of people don't like Hillary. We. Are. Fucked.

by Anonymousreply 43May 28, 2016 4:56 AM

oh, like mccain and romney and every other republican cunt won. nobody wins on that side anymore. the angry straight white males have lost. they just don't have the numbers any more. everyone calm the fuck down.

by Anonymousreply 44May 28, 2016 4:58 AM

It looks like the head on a decaying corpse.

by Anonymousreply 45May 28, 2016 5:09 AM

Kerry was a weak candidate.

You have a very strong candidate in Hillary this time who has been picked over and smeared like no other political figure in living memory and has weathered them all. A woman always has to be superlative to be allowed to run alongside mediocre men, so it's par for the course as any woman leader knows.

A NYC real estate guy into gambling casinos who won't show his tax returns has plenty to hide I assure you. When the candidates square off, Trump will implode.

The really tough part for Hillary is therefore not Trump. It is that she will have to continue fighting on two fronts to the bitter end. Bernie will remain a thorn in her side and her task is to make sure his actions don't help the GOP too much.

If she comes through, America will have elected a leader tried and tempered as none before.

by Anonymousreply 46May 28, 2016 5:11 AM

I think Hillary has the slight edge, but only because Trump is so bizarre. In so many ways, Hillary's candidacy is turning out to be a huge dud, riddled with the same mistakes she made in 2008. Her lack of personality, lack of a sense of humor, and lack of zingers and one-liners that gain traction on social media hurt her. She's a lot like Kerry, Gore, Dukakis, and Mondale, who insisted on being dull policy wonks and sticking to the issues. Like it or not, presidential elections are decided more on performance and personality than on policy. And Hillary isn't so great at the performance and personality aspects of campaigning. On top of that, her message (to the degree that she has a message at all) is totally at odds with the mood of electorate. Just like in 2008, she's running as the experienced political insider in a year when voters want outsiders and dramatic change.

by Anonymousreply 47May 28, 2016 5:14 AM

think you are right R47. trump is a dick. it's not happening for trump. it just isn't.

by Anonymousreply 48May 28, 2016 5:16 AM

no way

by Anonymousreply 49May 28, 2016 5:17 AM

I don't trust all this polls tightening storyline. The press loves a good horserace which is why they're propping up Bernie right now even while they know he has no chance to win. The Sanders people love to prop up these polls because obviously it serves their agenda. In fact they're the ones skewing the polls right now.

But let's look at the much discussed Rasmussen Poll that came out May19th that had Trump beating HIllary by 5 percentage points at Trump at 42% vs Hillary at37%. Now look at that same Rasmussen who did a poll Thursday May 26th that showed HIllary beating Trump by 1 percentage point with Hillary 40% vs Trump at 39%.

That's a reversal and gain for Hillary of 6 percentage points in one week. That's how unstable the polling is at this point.

by Anonymousreply 50May 28, 2016 5:17 AM

From the Politico article:

"There is also reason to think Clinton’s enthusiasm with Hispanic voters needs stoking. A new Fox Latino poll shows Clinton leading Trump by an impressive-sounding 39 points: 62 to 23. But there’s a problem: That 39-point spread is actually less than the 44 by which Barack Obama beat Mitt Romney in 2012."

Ummm...Politico's aware that there's a difference between the point spread in an election result and the point spread in a poll where 15% of the vote is taken up by neither/other/I don't know, right? Oh well, guess it wouldn't be Politico without being "balanced" for the sake of "being fair."

by Anonymousreply 51May 28, 2016 5:18 AM

I'm not sure. If it's Sanders vs Trump, I feel confident that Sanders will win. But, with Clinton vs Trump, I feel Trump will win. I like both Clinton and Sanders. But, I feel Clinton vs. Trump will be Gore vs. Bush or Kerry vs. Bush. The buffoon wins.

by Anonymousreply 52May 28, 2016 5:20 AM

R47 You're talking like the Bernie Supporters in that New York Times article who want to vote for Trump because they want the excitement of a Nazi style presidency. I'm hoping that there's enough sane voters out there to counterbalance that.

by Anonymousreply 53May 28, 2016 5:21 AM

European leaders are already scared that a Trump win will give traction to right wing fanatics. German vice chancellor called Trump a 'threat to peace and prosperity'. The only political leader who likes Trump is Putin, another rabid idiot.

I wonder if the German people were so engrossed in whether or not Angela Merkel had personality, charisma, a sense of humor, one liners, zingers, cankles, etc. or if they just fucking voted for her because she was the politician they thought was the best qualified.

by Anonymousreply 56May 28, 2016 5:31 AM

R51 I think that article must have been written by a Bernie supported. He brings up how she lost the youth vote by 80% amount but doesn't bring up that Bernie lost the African American vote by almost that same amount . Does he think African Americans are going to have the enthusiasm for Bernie Sanders and that he'll be able to rally their support? I see nothing to indicate he can do that especially when he picks the universally reviled Cornel West as his delegate. Black twitter had a meltdown when that was announced.

by Anonymousreply 57May 28, 2016 5:32 AM

by Anonymousreply 60May 28, 2016 5:40 AM

R57, African Americans don't even have enthusiasm about Clinton. The majority of AAs vote for anyone with a D by their name, it's not like they wouldn't vote for Sanders if he won the nom. Millennials are completely different because they are much less partisan.

by Anonymousreply 61May 28, 2016 5:43 AM

trump will not win. calm down, bitches.

by Anonymousreply 62May 28, 2016 5:44 AM

My, that's patronizing R61. You should examine yourself why you don't get it that blacks prefer Clinton to Sanders.

And should they vote Democratic even if Sanders is the nominee it says a lot about their fortitude, values and loyalty. Much more than the tantrum tangled entitlement of the white middle class male bitching that stands for socialism in this country.

by Anonymousreply 63May 28, 2016 5:54 AM

R61 How's life in your reality? Hillary Clinton is winning the majority of AA votes not Bernie Sanders and they're not sheep despite what you think. They have been voting for HIllary on average 70 to 80 percent over Bernie Sanders. Sanders loses in any state that has a significant AA population. That means he has a problem attracting AA voters especially the olders ones. And the only way for Sanders to win is to convince the Super Delegates to switch to him and to say all those HIllary wins where she got the large AA voters to vote for her doesn't count because they came from the South==a think Bernie supporters love to say not realizing how insulting that is.

The only way Bernie wins is to disenfranchise the AA votes and maybe just maybe that would give some of them pause and cause a hell of a lot less enthusiasm for voting.

by Anonymousreply 64May 28, 2016 5:56 AM

That's not going to work with me, r63. I know that leftists like to pretend that reality isn't reality because that's the politically correct thing to do, but I don't play that game. If you vote like a monolithic voting bloc in election after election don't be surprised when people say that you vote like a monolithic bloc. Doing so hasn't done them any favors. However, I expect Trump to get more of the black vote than many expect. We've been reading about black voter apathy for the last few years now, so many are ripe for the picking.

R64, your rambling post just shows how far removed from reality you are. Black voters ( mostly old black women) chose Clinton over Sanders due to name recognition and name recognition only. And those same voters would easily fall in line and support Sanders in November if he won the nom without skipping a beat. Since you claim to be in touch with reality, check out this link. Clinton winning the majority of black voters says nothing about black voter enthusiasm.

Hillary will be speaking at the Home of Chicken and Waffles in Oakland tomorrow.

by Anonymousreply 67May 28, 2016 7:44 AM

.t this point it's too early to tell, but I think Trump stands a very good chance of winning. I think he needs to transcend the information being spread out there about him i.e. racist, He doesn't hate Hispanics or Muslims, but he does not want them in here illegally. BTW most of the violence out there is not by real Sanders supporters, but being blamed on Sanders by Clinton and actually being funded by George Soros.

by Anonymousreply 68May 28, 2016 8:26 AM

Meant MISinformation regarding Trump.

by Anonymousreply 69May 28, 2016 8:31 AM

r61's right, AA voters, like minorities in general, are pragmatic and support the most viable candidate. They didn't support Obama either until he started looking viable.

by Anonymousreply 70May 28, 2016 8:34 AM

Unfortunately I think he will be. Rumors has it that he will pick Newt as his running mate.

by Anonymousreply 71May 28, 2016 8:41 AM

2016 will be historical either way. The first female president, hopefully, or the first orange-haired circus clown.

by Anonymousreply 72May 28, 2016 8:47 AM

To the original question, no. This scare tactic is pure media driven. It's gotten ridiculous.

by Anonymousreply 73May 28, 2016 8:57 AM

Hopefully it WON'T be Hillary Clinton who gets elected. With any luck the crook will go down, along with her crooked Clinton Foundation.

by Anonymousreply 74May 28, 2016 9:05 AM

The CF might be a money making scheme, but her policies are way more progressive than Trump's. And like that money-grubber wouldn't stoop to do anything for a buck.

by Anonymousreply 75May 28, 2016 9:14 AM

Hillary Clinton is a criminal and a socialist. Who gives a shit about her "progressive" policies?

by Anonymousreply 76May 28, 2016 9:28 AM

Maybe?

by Anonymousreply 77May 28, 2016 9:29 AM

r76, you obviously don't, freepy.

by Anonymousreply 78May 28, 2016 9:32 AM

Hillary Clinton would only continue the policies of Obama, with immigration out of control and allowing in people who hate gays and would kill them in a heartbeat. I would rather risk the possibility of gay marriage being overturned than the possibility of being murdered for my sexual preferences. Besides, the immigrants/illegal aliens are getting benefits that Americans aren't getting.

by Anonymousreply 79May 28, 2016 9:41 AM

Examples of these benefits r79?

by Anonymousreply 80May 28, 2016 9:49 AM

by Anonymousreply 82May 28, 2016 9:52 AM

Illegal aliens are getting food stamps, free health care, and don't even pay taxes.

by Anonymousreply 83May 28, 2016 9:54 AM

R81 R82 are unfortunately examples of the dismissive mindset that concerned Europeans have been confronted with and silenced by for decades and why they are turning in droves to "right" parties that don't respond with derision to their genuine concerns.

by Anonymousreply 84May 28, 2016 9:58 AM

Trump will change his mind on immigration the minute he benefits financially from it, he is totally unpredictable in which way he will go. He is totally unprincipled und will throw guys off the roof himself if he can gain power and wealth from it.

by Anonymousreply 85May 28, 2016 10:01 AM

I think Clinton is the one who is completely unprincipled. Look up who has donated to the Clinton Foundation. Hillary Clinton would start a war, sending boys off to their deaths, if the right person or countries donated to her "foundation."

by Anonymousreply 86May 28, 2016 10:07 AM

Oh, and R81 and R82, your beloved Queen Bee Hillary was dismissive of both Trump and Sanders a years ago, and right now they are in the process of ripping her a new asshole.

by Anonymousreply 87May 28, 2016 10:15 AM

So he's just like Hillary, r85?

by Anonymousreply 88May 28, 2016 10:44 AM

So you can't give us examples r87 that's basically what you are indicating. I'm shocked.

by Anonymousreply 89May 28, 2016 10:48 AM

Abuela.

by Anonymousreply 90May 28, 2016 10:55 AM

When Trump goes down in flames, I'll be toasting marshmallows on his bloated orange corpse.

by Anonymousreply 91May 28, 2016 11:00 AM

Trump was a registered democrat 10 years ago, he is basically like Reagan

by Anonymousreply 92May 28, 2016 1:13 PM

I think Hillary could easily lose the election. Trump is a horrible person who sounds like a narcissist and a fascist, and as a previous poster suggested, it's possible that his companies are a front to launder mob money. Even so: he has a true genius for fashioning lines that work, for shrewdly assessing the mood of the part of America he needs to appeal to, for grabbing attention. He has no policies. He changes his point of view every other second. He would be a disastrous president.

And he could easily win.

by Anonymousreply 93May 28, 2016 1:49 PM

Trump attracts angry white men. We've learned from Obama that we don't need white men to win an election. Everyone else has more common sense than angry white guys. There are more POC and women who vote Democrat during presidential elections and HRC has those votes.

The media is harping about how Sanders and Clinton are still in a 'race' and yet she's 3 million votes ahead and 275 delegates more than Sanders. I wouldn't trust the main stream media to relay information as to the color of the sky much less pundits tell me who's going to win six months from now.

by Anonymousreply 94May 28, 2016 2:02 PM

God. I love you to death you guys. You're all so stupid. Kiss kiss

by Anonymousreply 95May 28, 2016 2:23 PM

R65 Even if they're fewer AA energized and voting, the fewer that exists and voting voted for Hillary Clinton over Bernie by 80 to 20 percent. That's a problem and they won't just fall in line behind a candidate and supporter who dismiss them as OLD BLACK LADIES. They don't just FALL IN LINE but like any other voter if they see a candidate that will do absolutely nothing for them they stay home or vote for the other guy.

Who Bernie attracts is mainly basement dwelling millennials and disgruntled Clinton haters and that's not enough of a coalition to win an election.

by Anonymousreply 96May 28, 2016 2:29 PM

R96, find a clue, I'm anything but a Sanders supporter. I just enjoy recognizing reality. It's idiotic to compare millennial voters to traditional AA voters given that millennials are FAR less partisan. I know that many think that all millennials are SJWs who can easily be motivated to vote their feelings, but that's not the case. If they don't get the candidate they want they can easily vote for the other guy or vote third party. They aren't going to simply fall in line like the majority of traditional AA voters would.

Romney managed to win 20 percent of the black male millennial vote without even courting them and while running against the first black president, so that should tell you something. And I agree with you, many AAs will either stay home (like they've been doing during the primary) or vote Trump because they can see that Clinton will do no more for them than Obama has. Obama cares more about transgender bathroom rights than the increasing crime rates, poverty rates and unemployment rates in inner city communities. And Clinton has promised to continue that policy.

by Anonymousreply 97May 28, 2016 8:19 PM

I think it is unlikely that Trump will be elected, but it is certainly not impossible. Hillary has a ton of flaws and Trump has done better than almost anyone expected.

by Anonymousreply 98May 28, 2016 8:39 PM

The game is actually much more interesting than that.

by Anonymousreply 99May 28, 2016 10:39 PM

I wouldn't be surprised if neither he, nor Hillary, were on the ballot in NovemberNovember.

by Anonymousreply 100May 28, 2016 10:42 PM

Then who do you think is on the ballot if not them?

by Anonymousreply 101May 28, 2016 10:50 PM

Trump will win. Sad as it is Hill,Bill and Trump's fix job will result in a Trump presidency. Masses of people will hightail it to Canada or France.

by Anonymousreply 102May 28, 2016 11:24 PM

Yes, we had a chance to offer people real change and those like so many on this board blew it. Sanders could beat Trump. Hillary can't. It's as simple as that. This will be Reagan's dream come to fruition. See how happy the Hillary is our Goddess crowd here will be with President Trump. Actually the rich ones here will probably be quite happy. I can't figure out of it love for Hillary here is just the greed of those with money or plain old antisemitism, probably both. Of course the small number here on this board won't make that much of a difference. What really shocks me is the black vote. Obviously they are not out for "free stuff" as people accuse. Their hatred of a Jew overpowers that if such a thing ever existed. With Hillary elected or Trump things will get so much worse in poor black communities and in general so much worse for the poor and the middle class as they continue to tumble into poverty. Get ready for crime to skyrocket as never before. Desperation and hunger will make people who would never have thought of committing a crime go after those with even a little more than they have.

by Anonymousreply 103May 28, 2016 11:59 PM

Sanders had no real national presence prior to this election season, so I don't understand why anyone would be shocked that he isn't winning the black vote. He's losing that vote for the same reasons Obama was initially losing it at the start of campaign season in 07/08.

by Anonymousreply 104May 29, 2016 12:09 AM

After living through the Reagan and George W. Bush presidencies it wouldn't surprise me at all. The American people fall in love with some strange characters, and after eight years of a really smart president they may be ready for another clown.

by Anonymousreply 105May 29, 2016 12:27 AM

the "silent majority " is exactly the opposite. They are the very loud (thanks to the media) minority. Angry white racists don't have the numbers. Hillary will win.

by Anonymousreply 106May 29, 2016 12:28 AM

R106, where were they during Bush's two terms?

by Anonymousreply 107May 29, 2016 12:29 AM

R103, Sanders can't even beat Hillary, how the hell could he beat Trump? America is never going to vote for an elderly openly commie Jew.

by Anonymousreply 108May 29, 2016 12:31 AM

I'm sorry r104, but you're wrong. The left requires that everything be viewed and interpreted through the lens of victimhood. If you don't support Bernie you're anti-semitic. If you don't support Obama you are a racist. If you don't support Hillary you are misogynist. There are no other explanations for such an outrageous displays of blasphemy. Please make a note of it.

by Anonymousreply 109May 29, 2016 12:41 AM
Rumors has it that he will pick Newt as his running mate.

Gingrich is in his 70's.

I don't see how he would help Trump.

by Anonymousreply 110May 29, 2016 2:01 AM

Races always tighten when a nominee emerges and again at the conventions.

However there is no reason to believe that Trump won't fall behind again once Sanders is out of the race. Yes, it is important for Clinton to pick up the Sanders voters but it is equally important for her to strip away support from suburban white women and others who will defect from Trump.

There is also the matter of the tons of opposition research which the Clintons and the DNC have amassed against Trump.

There going to slaughter him - mob ties, even shadier deals, the tax return (he pays little to no tax), etc.

He is fucked.

by Anonymousreply 111May 29, 2016 2:16 AM

If only you actually believed that, r111.

by Anonymousreply 112May 29, 2016 2:19 AM

We'll have to wait & see, R111.

It's important not to get overconfident.

by Anonymousreply 113May 29, 2016 2:20 AM

I do think the democratic pundits are saying that Trump might win, because they dont want people getting confident and NOT voting. Also, I have read that latinos (who are here legally) that didn't bother to register to vote on past election are registering now in droves to vote against Trump. And in the purple states: Florida, Colorado, Nevada, Arizona.

So, all who say Trump can win, please answer this: What´s his path to victory? Which states is he turning?

by Anonymousreply 114May 29, 2016 2:30 AM

I'm not sure if the oppositional research will help as Trump been proven to be insane over and over and people still vote for him. There was an article I read inside the mind of a 22 year old San Francisco Trump supporter. It was kind of scary. It's all about he loves Trump because he's not PC.

"In my first job, I mentioned that I enjoyed Hulk Hogan to a colleague who also liked the WWE. I was not aware at the time, but Hogan had recently made news for his use of some racial or homophobic slur. I was met with a horrified stare. By simply saying I liked his showmanship, I was lumped into saying I too was racist or homophobic. I feel like I have to hide my beliefs. I cannot say openly that I identify with Republicans, lest I see friendships and potential professional connections disappear with those words. When I see Hillary Clinton, I see the world becoming less and less tolerant of right-leaning views. When I see Facebook censoring conservative outlets and then see The Atlantic defending the practice, that worries me. When I see the fear that reddit users have about admins banning subreddits because of political beliefs, that worries me."

This is a war over how dialogue in America will be shaped. If Hillary wins, we're going to see a further tightening of PC culture. But if Trump wins? If Trump wins, we will have a president that overwhelmingly rejects PC rhetoric. Even better, we will show that more than half the country rejects this insane PC regime. If Trump wins, I will personally feel a major burden relieved, and I will feel much more comfortable stating my more right-wing views without fearing total ostracism and shame. Because of this, no matter what Trump says or does, I will keep supporting him.

by Anonymousreply 115May 29, 2016 2:32 AM

Yes OP. Scary.

by Anonymousreply 116May 29, 2016 2:42 AM

Trump is remarkably effective at labeling his opponents and cutting them down to size. There was "low energy" Jeb, "Little" Marco, "Lyin" Ted Cruz, "Crazy" Bernie and now "Crooked" Hillary. I have yet to see much evidence that Hillary is as effective at doing this. Every time Trump refers to her as "Crooked Hillary," she should have an even stronger comeback to fire back at Trump. But the closest thing to a comeback line that her team has been able to come up with so far is "Love trumps hate." If it were Obama or Bill Clinton in his prime running against Trump, you know they would have some great comeback lines that would put Trump in his place. I'm not sure that Hillary and her campaign team are creative and nimble enough to deal with an unconventional candidate like Trump.

by Anonymousreply 117May 29, 2016 2:58 AM

^ Hillary can not stoop to his level. Elizabeth Warren is going to be the primary attack dog for her. He labeled him ¨small, moneygrubber¨ and that´s just her getting started. She will get so under his skin that he may even call her cunt or bitch, and lose more women voters as a result.

by Anonymousreply 118May 29, 2016 3:05 AM

Also that article just shows that California WILL NOT go to Trump. That one little sociopath and his asian gf get shamed a lot by most people for their not wanting to behave in an acceptable social contract way, just proves that Trump supporters are really just dangerous idiots.

by Anonymousreply 119May 29, 2016 3:08 AM
Hillary can not stoop to his level.

She doesn't need to stoop to his level. But she needs to have some sort of a counterpunch. Otherwise, she'll be like Kerry, who refused to dignify the Swiftboat attacks against him because he didn't want to stoop to that level. Didn't help him, did it?
Elizabeth Warren is going to be the primary attack dog for her. He labeled him ¨small, moneygrubber¨ and that´s just her getting started.

I saw that, and as much as I like Elizabeth Warren, I didn't think it was very effective. Everyone already knows that Trump is a selfish, greedy businessman. Unfortunately, for many voters, that seems to be part of his appeal. Calling Trump a "moneygrubber" isn't going to change any minds.

by Anonymousreply 120May 29, 2016 3:15 AM

And that's exactly why opposition research on Trump will not matter, r115. Neither will debate performances or policies. Trump is simply seen by a large number of people as a vehicle to decimate the extremists, PC, SJW culture that we are currently immersed in. He's Teflon because of that fact and he knows it. The silent majority is about to strike back in a big way.

by Anonymousreply 121May 29, 2016 3:20 AM

If the email issue is not pressed too seriously and fair debates are allowed to take place it would be difficult to conceive of a Trump win. Clinton will annihilate Trump in the debates.

Trump's 'I'm hearing that" and "important friends of mine are saying that" bullshit isn't going to fly when he comes face to face with Clinton.

That said Trump may refuse to debate Clinton.

by Anonymousreply 122May 29, 2016 3:32 AM

I look at it this way. The people that voted for Obama in 2012 are not going to vote for Trump. That should assure Clinton of winning all the blue states. I think she can also win Arizona with the large number of Latinos as well as Florida.

by Anonymousreply 123May 29, 2016 3:37 AM

I really hope so. We need someone to rattle some cages and make people - left and right wing - really think about the sort of society they want and act on it,

by Anonymousreply 124May 29, 2016 3:37 AM

R118, R120:

I'm not sure Elizabeth Warren is the kind of person who would stoop so low as to resort to constant name-calling. I believe she is way more clever for that.

A counter-punch should be effective, but there should be something juicy and indefensible that would require Trump to exit the race.

by Anonymousreply 125May 29, 2016 4:07 AM
Clinton will annihilate Trump in the debates.

Maybe she will. I hope so. But I remember hearing in 1988 that Dukakis would annihilate Bush Sr. in the debates. I remember hearing in 2000 that Gore would annihilate George W. Bush in the debates. And I remember hearing in 2004 that Kerry would annihilate W. in the debates. We're always told that the American public will prefer the smarter candidate in the debates who has the stronger command of the issues. But it rarely turns out that way.

by Anonymousreply 126May 29, 2016 4:28 AM

How about "that orange, short fingered vulgarian"? That seems to piss that orange short fingered vulgarian off more than anything.

Liz or Hills needs to drop that bomb a few times. He's fucking ORANGE, people.

Geez, stoop to his level - call him "the orange-u-tang". How can anyone take the short fingered vulgarian seriously when he's fucking ORANGE and has a dead tribble on his head?

by Anonymousreply 127May 29, 2016 4:49 AM

okay, I think he'd be a terrible president, but what are you specifically worried about? what exactly would happen in a Trump presidency that would make your life worse?

by Anonymousreply 128May 29, 2016 5:03 AM

Trump will win the one-on-one debate because he will be honest, and Hillary will be political and we all know what Americans love more. He knows nothing but somehow he is a better campaigner than she is. Hillary will win the townhall debate because she actually knows how to talk to people, she knows how to explain policy, and she can answer questions that voters have.

by Anonymousreply 129May 29, 2016 5:06 AM

Hillary understands things, but honestly this is such a stupid country that might actually be a problem for her. Trump seems to grasp instinctively that generally he is talking to morons and he knows what to say to them. it's actually a problem, and I hope Hillary can figure it out.

by Anonymousreply 130May 29, 2016 5:10 AM
Most Republicans just voted for Trump. Where the hell have you been??!

Nope, wrong. While there was at least one other person in the primaries against him Trump had only a plurality of the R votes.

by Anonymousreply 131May 29, 2016 5:24 AM
So, all who say Trump can win, please answer this: What´s his path to victory? Which states is he turning?

Trump's people claim that he can win some of the Midwestern states, like Ohio, Pennsylvania and Michigan.

by Anonymousreply 132May 29, 2016 5:30 AM

I think it's likely that he'll win.

by Anonymousreply 133May 29, 2016 5:37 AM

i don't think it's likely, but it's definitely possible. so get out there, people, and make it not happen.

by Anonymousreply 134May 29, 2016 5:40 AM

And do what, r34, elect Hillary? No thank you.

by Anonymousreply 135May 29, 2016 5:41 AM

yes, r135, don't be a cunt about this. vote for somebody who actually would be a good president. sulk later.

by Anonymousreply 136May 29, 2016 5:46 AM

There is no good president in the game now, r136. Shillary is the worst option we have

by Anonymousreply 137May 29, 2016 5:50 AM

don't be stupid r137. hillary has been getting ready for this job since 1992. what fantasy are you living in that there are perfect people that will make your dreams come true?

by Anonymousreply 138May 29, 2016 5:52 AM

We don't even know, who will be the Democratic presidential candidate.

by Anonymousreply 139May 29, 2016 6:00 AM

I'm beginning to wonder if the Bernie voters are worth keeping. I just think a certain percentage of them are just not true progressives or democrats and have just latched on to the cult of Bernie and when that's gone they're gone. So people like R127 if you don't care about minorities, immigrants, lgbt rights, gun rights, abortion rights, the free press and even the future of this planet as Trump doesn't believe in global warming and have visions of abolishing the EPA, then by all means keep going on about shillary and join the Trump party.

At some point we just have to write off voters like these as just not worth the effort and concentrate on putting together a winning coalition of supporters.

by Anonymousreply 140May 29, 2016 6:02 AM

it's hillary, R139. i know, i know. but it is. it's not actually bernie.

by Anonymousreply 141May 29, 2016 6:05 AM

If Hillary is the nominee, I'd rather vote Trump. He's the lesser of two evils.

by Anonymousreply 142May 29, 2016 6:06 AM

R141, the Democratic National Convention has not happened yet, and Bernie is fighting the good fight.

by Anonymousreply 143May 29, 2016 6:06 AM

and r140, the bernie voters are absolutely worth keeping. honestly, they did the best job ever. they actually reminded the democratic party what the hell they are supposed to be about. and in a weird way, they won. love the bernie voters.

by Anonymousreply 144May 29, 2016 6:07 AM

R144 Amen. It's nice to be appreciated. We stand for everything the Democrats should be.

by Anonymousreply 145May 29, 2016 6:08 AM

it's hillary, r143, but you are awesome, as explained above.

by Anonymousreply 146May 29, 2016 6:09 AM

Hillary voted to invade Iraq and Trump didn't.

If you want to vote for a war criminal, then fuck you.

by Anonymousreply 147May 29, 2016 6:28 AM

That's a bit of a simplistic analysis, R147.

Trump has never been elected to any office, so he has never voted for anything. Ever.

by Anonymousreply 148May 29, 2016 6:38 AM

oh come on R147? that is it? that is what it comes down to? Trump would be a great president because he was never officially asked what to do about Iraq?

by Anonymousreply 149May 29, 2016 6:39 AM

As a foreign observer it´s fucking rich and kinda funny how the right winger US citizens (specially the Trump voters) absolutely loath populists like Chavez, etc. when they are so dumb that they fail to realize that Trump embodies all the evils of that same kind of populism.

by Anonymousreply 150May 29, 2016 6:44 AM

it's true R190 but you have to get us. we do not give a fucl, ever. we just don't all we know is we are perfect and can do no wrong.

by Anonymousreply 151May 29, 2016 6:47 AM

R148: Voting for Hillary is absolutely morally indefensible. Whether you vote for Trump is another question, but he does not bear responsibility for the criminal destruction of Iraq and Libya like Hillary.

by Anonymousreply 152May 29, 2016 7:00 AM

Hillary would annihilate Trump in the debates. Say what you want about her, but she's a highly intelligent woman, and she's tough as nails. Rachel Maddow did a report about all the fairly recent elections, in the 50s thru early 70s, when there were no debates some elections. There's no rule that there has to be debates. And since he chickened out on the Sanders debate, he could very well chicken-out on debating Hillary too. He's a buffoon who says ridiculous things all the time, that he truly believes. He has street smarts, and had the best education money could buy, but he's still really low-brow and no match for Hillary. Apparently he said he wants to put a man on Jupiter by 2018. That's as stupid as Sherri Shepard saying the earth is flat. And shows a profound lack of curiosity, he was never curious about the planets in our solar system to even notice Jupiter is a gas giant. He's an idiot. I love hearing Obama making fun of his idiocy. That'll be entertaining this fall when he campaigns with Hillary.

by Anonymousreply 153May 29, 2016 7:04 AM

Doesn't matter how "smart" Hillary is. She's part of the political elite that's fucked America over and brought it into so many stupid foreign wars and exported every decent job. The American people want nothing more than to throw all these people out of a window, and all the smart words in the world won't save Hillary.

by Anonymousreply 154May 29, 2016 7:08 AM

I was speaking specifically about the debates. He'll probably chicken out because he knows she'll clean his clock. And her debate performances would give her the edge on election day.

by Anonymousreply 155May 29, 2016 7:19 AM

Hillary can't do anything but splutter and deny the truth. She is a war criminal and she's part of the same group who fucked everything up. Trump will destroy her.

by Anonymousreply 156May 29, 2016 7:24 AM

Pfffft

by Anonymousreply 157May 29, 2016 7:26 AM

Hillary is book smart and common sense stupid. Trump is a boorish blowhard. I hope Bernie runs third party just to shake up this charade of an election. It is such a joke to see two friends, part of The Epstein cabal fix the election. Hopefully the debates would be that more transparent with three participants. I also hope that these lame stream media hosts challenge Trump and Hillary on their bullshit.

From the New York Times:

Hillary Clinton Struggles to Find Footing in Unusual Race

By AMY CHOZICK, ALEXANDER BURNS and JONATHAN MARTIN MAY 28, 2016

Democrats could hardly believe their good fortune last month when it became clear that Hillary Clinton was headed to a general election showdown with Donald J. Trump. Mr. Trump carried so much baggage and had insulted so many voting blocs that some Clinton supporters began to imagine a landslide.

But early optimism that this would be an easy race is evaporating. In the corridors of Congress, on airplane shuttles between New York and Washington, at donor gatherings and on conference calls, anxiety is spreading through the Democratic Party that Mrs. Clinton is struggling to find her footing.

While she enjoys many demographic advantages heading into the fall, key Democrats say they are growing worried that her campaign has not determined how to combat her unpredictable, often wily Republican rival, to whom criticism seldom sticks and rules of decorum seem not to apply.

Mrs. Clinton is pressing ahead with a conventional campaign, echoing the 2012 themes used against the Republican nominee that year, Mitt Romney. But Mr. Trump is running a jarringly different crusade: accusing her husband, former President Bill Clinton, of rape; proposing that the country conduct brutal methods of torture; and suggesting that South Korea and Japan be permitted to develop nuclear arms. Prominent Democrats say a more provocative approach is needed.

What I don't get is why isn't HIllary attacking him on stuff like Trump University. At a rally Trump called out the judge for being a 'Mexican' and the judge ordered the release of all documents related to the case. The Clinton campaign should be jumping up and down on this fraud case against Trump. He certainly didn't hesitate to go after her for the state department report.

Who's advising Hillary because this hands off approach to one of Trump's scandals where he actually scammed money from people is eally strange to me.

by Anonymousreply 162May 29, 2016 2:07 PM

The cheering on the housing bubble meme didn't go over that great, because really he does have an excuse being a business man, and one known for bloviating about it especially. It's just Donald to brag about all the ways he has to get even richer. Surely they've got worse dirt on him, but it's still very early, presumably saving the best for the fall when it'll have the biggest impact. I saw something on MSNBC about a late 80s doc that Donald quashed by threatening lawsuits. The filmmakers dusted it off and thought it was still pretty strong and released it on iTunes last year. I don't know the title, but it'd be interesting to see it.

by Anonymousreply 163May 29, 2016 6:20 PM

He's not going to win Pennsylvania. Look up what areas Obama won in 2012 Philly, Pitts, Erie and Allentown. That was enough to win the state. Obama won 85% of the Philadelphia vote. Yes Trump could win Ohio but I think Michigan holds on for the Dems. The Dems could win Arizona.

by Anonymousreply 164May 29, 2016 9:55 PM

Donald Trump On Gay Marriage: 'It's Not My Thing'

08/02/2013

Donald Trump has finally set the record straight -- he does not support same-sex marriage.

Shocker?

The Republican businessman, who flirted with the idea of running for the GOP presidential candidate nomination last year, called into Howard Stern's Sirius XM show on Wednesday and revealed that marriage equality is not The Donald's thing.

"Donald, go on the record," says Stern. "You're for gay marriage."

"Well, I'm not," responds Trump, surprising both Stern and his co-host Robin Quivers. He continues, "It's never been an argument that's been discussed with me very much. People know that it's not my thing one way or the other."

Don't worry, this time you'll have lots of company. They're working day and night to shovel as many Mexicans across the border. Good thing most dem states refuse to pass voter ID laws.

by Anonymousreply 167May 30, 2016 12:06 AM

""Trump would be a refreshing change from the political elites. "

You sound like the morons who supported Palin.

It's one thing to challenge the elite, it's another to be cheering on an a living, mouth-breathing imbecile. A man facing a lawsuit at his "university" attacking the American-born judge as a "Mexican" is not "refreshing," it's embarrassing. He's a junior high bully. Everything out of his mouth is dumb and I don;t understand how any American who isn't a troglodyte can support him. It's an admittance that you're just a bigot because don't try and convince anyone he has offered any actual solutions. Scapegoating and fear-mongering are not solutions, they're only a revelation of how loathsome his supporters are. There's nothing refreshing about that orange turd mountain.

by Anonymousreply 168May 30, 2016 12:12 AM

I dont Michigan will turn. Remember the Flint water scandal was brought on by the administration of a Republican governor. Plus only the democratic candidates went out of their way to visit and try to show support for the victims. The Republicans didnt even acknowledge it.

Pennsylvania will hold just becuase of Philly and Pitts, but barely like with 1-2.5 % points. Ohio can turn, but if they nominate Brown as the VP, it will hold. Florida, Nevada & Colorado i do think they will hold because of all the latino voters who are registering to vote against Trump. NH, MN, Oregon and Wisconsin will not turn, specially if Trump refuses to debate Hillary, the votoers of that states seem more educated. So which states will give Trump the victory?

by Anonymousreply 169May 30, 2016 12:21 AM

by Anonymousreply 172May 30, 2016 12:50 AM

Thank you R168 and R171. The posters you so rightly go after are the kind of thinkers who have made Trump the nominee, and there are thousands of like-minded people out there, unfortunately.

The whole problem boils down to the fact that there are huge swaths of the bigoted American population that don't like the fact that we've had a black man as president for the last 8 years. When they say, "Make America great again," they mean: Go back to a time when the "coloreds" and women and gays weren't so uppity that they forgot their place. The world has changed since 1950, and now these ignoramuses feel out of place -- so it must be everyone else's fault.

by Anonymousreply 173May 30, 2016 2:46 PM

Well I read the article by a Trump supporter and his Democrat friend. I don't think Obama and racism is the reason. The Trump guy (whose Asian fiance disagrees with him) supports Trump because of the SJW/PC Crowd who has made him feel like he can't say anything for fear of being labeled a racist, a nazi, or a homophobe. Trump supporters are the Tea Party reincarnated after being crushed by 8 years of Obama. Ann Coulter is their natural leader. They always see America as being afraid to flaunt its power and don't understand why centrist Republicans and Democrats aren't as frightened as they are.

Millions of taxpayers' dollars has been spent over the decades investigating Hillary Clinton. Yet Trump won't even release last year's tax returns.

So why the high negatives? My father, a progressive liberal, said if Hillary was the nominee in '08 he'd vote for McCain. She reminds a lot of middle-aged men of their first wives, after the romance has died and they're going for the cash. Women don't like her because she didn't leave Bill, even though they didn't leave their own cheating husbands. It's what she should have done.

Hillary tries but she still comes off calculating and scripted and dishonest. She is hobbled by her inability to articulate her ideas without boring us. She has no personal warmth. Still she's the most qualified nominee we've had in a long time and even though these same Trump voters tried their hardest to impeach Bill Clinton, he's still ranked the top ranked modern American President, followed by Reagan and LBJ.

I'm voting for Hillary.

by Anonymousreply 174May 30, 2016 3:10 PM

Colorado, a purple state, has gone blue twice for Obama but this time I fear the state may vote Trump. I really do.

To those who hate Clinton I would ask you to consider the Supreme Court. At least two Justices are going to be gone from the Court within the next few years.

If Trump were elected his nominees would pull the Court dramatically to the right, something that would negatively impact gay rights for decades to come. Count on it.

FFS vote Clinton if only to protect the Court.

by Anonymousreply 175May 30, 2016 3:14 PM

Once the conventions are over, the political landscape will be clearer. I think both Obama and Sanders will campaign for Hilary. Trump is a truly vile human who continues to attack people even when it makes no political sense. W and Reagan were both affable even if their politics were vile. Trump is just garbage.

I think the Libertarians and possibly another third party Republican will pull enough votes to insure a Trump loss.

Hillary on The View right now, answering Joy's question as to why people don't "like" her.

"Some of it is that I'm perhaps a more serious person, a more reserved person than is kind of in the public arena these days. That's the way I was raised. So there's a disconnect between the way I conduct myself and what goes on in the world today. So people say... 'she's serious and reserved, and I don't like her.'"

by Anonymousreply 178May 30, 2016 3:23 PM

Hillary is not going to hold onto the states Obama won because she's a woman. Sad but true. This is where Trump has the advantage and Democrats don't want to acknowledge the elephant in the room. People are still uncomfortable with a woman in charge.

by Anonymousreply 179May 30, 2016 3:27 PM

When US engineering stopped being world class, there were to reasons very clear to me:

Sales and HR had taken over, leaving science in the unemployment line.

Now the presidential race is between Sales and HR, a lose-lose situation.

by Anonymousreply 180May 30, 2016 3:27 PM

What's all this about illegal people being treated better than vets? My BF is a vet and he gets the best care from the Manhattan Vet Center on 23rd Street. He had a lot of problems and he's been through their medical facilities as well as their psychiatric facilities and in both cases got excellent care. I've met many of the people who have worked with him and the other vest there, and they are top-notch people. I call bullshit on this one.

by Anonymousreply 184May 30, 2016 3:37 PM

The only reason Hillary is losing in some polls is because of those Bernie supporters who're trying to send a message and to force her to 'drop out.' They want to point to polls that Bernie is winning and the only way to do that is to insist that if Hillary is the nominee they won't vote for her. In some cases that's probably not true though.

Trump is a blowhard and that appeals to a certain segment of the population who want to legitimize being able to say asshole things without being called out for it. That's what that 22 year old supporter was all about. He's an insecure guy who thinks that Trump will help him to feel better about himself. But I'm not sure that Trump is all that universally appealing. The way to attack him is to really emphasize his contradictory stances on multiple issues and his instability.

That rambling speech he gave on Friday where he ranted about a judge being Mexican is a case in point. He's so off point sometimes I wonder if he needs to be tested for early dementia.

by Anonymousreply 185May 30, 2016 3:37 PM

Bernie can't win because of the "Socialist" label. He's wasting everyone's time.

by Anonymousreply 186May 30, 2016 3:39 PM

Trump phoned Bob Dole for advise re VP. How out of touch is Trump that he seeks out Dole?

Bob Dole, that fucking demented dinosaur - suggested Newt.

by Anonymousreply 187May 30, 2016 3:48 PM

Shocker! I honestly thought Bob Dole had died years ago.

by Anonymousreply 188May 30, 2016 3:49 PM

by Anonymousreply 189May 30, 2016 7:00 PM

He needs someone younger, serious and preferably female. Womanly will do too

by Anonymousreply 190May 30, 2016 8:31 PM

No. The media wants to make it look like a horse race. But it's not. She leads in the states she needs to lead in.

He has no interest in learning the things he needs to learn. He is also quite insane. Exactly like Palin, read the book or see the movie "Game Change". Some people will vote for that, but the majority will not.

by Anonymousreply 191May 30, 2016 11:07 PM
The choice of VP will matter a lot in this election.

People say that every cycle.

by Anonymousreply 192May 30, 2016 11:09 PM

Yes. As a celebrity with a populist message he has a major advantage. I think he could possibly win big, bigger than most polls would show and bigger than many would like to believe. Many people feel that they can't openly express their support for Trump or right wing policies so we probably won't know just how many people actually support Trump until after election day.

by Anonymousreply 193May 30, 2016 11:36 PM

No chance. His temperament and "message" (to the extent he has one) is too volatile and flighty for independents, who will flee him in droves.

Women detest him and they're half the voters. Latinos loathe him with good reason, and they were pivotal in several states in 08 and 12. He's basically DOA as the party establishment well understands -- it's why they were so desperate to stop him.

by Anonymousreply 194May 31, 2016 12:15 AM

He doesn't even get erected anymore, thank GOD.

by Anonymousreply 195May 31, 2016 1:26 AM

Speaking of Melania, I really find it very odd that her english is still very broken. Its like she hasnt even made the effort to learn to speak it properly, like she doesnt interect with Trump on a daily basis. Even DL Icon Luise Rainer learned English fast and good enough to win 2 Oscars back in the 30s.

by Anonymousreply 196May 31, 2016 2:23 AM

She's like Kissinger.

by Anonymousreply 197May 31, 2016 2:33 AM

R171 Hillary is not going to hold the states Obama won because she is a woman? He is a black man. What state do you think she won't win?

R169 she won't select Sherrod Brown because that means Kasich would select a Republican to replace him. The Democrats have a great shot at getting the Senate back.

by Anonymousreply 198May 31, 2016 2:41 AM
Speaking of Melania, I really find it very odd that her english is still very broken.

I'm surprised Melania hasn't come under more scrutiny.

Will Americans really accept her as First Lady?

by Anonymousreply 199May 31, 2016 5:05 AM

I don’t think Trump will beat Hillary.

I think people who have power behind the scenes prefer a Hillary over a Trump presidency.

I think will start forming a consensus at some point in September. It will be one in which they are not comfortable with … Trump As President.

I think voter participation will be down. But, I think Hillary will win women by close to 15 points — and Trump is not good with the female vote — while men will go for Trumo by about 3 points. In the end, she will win nationally with about a 8-point margin. (That's up for +4, for re-electing Barack Obama, from 2012.)

by Anonymousreply 200May 31, 2016 5:28 AM

Could Sherrod Brown keep his Senate seat while serving as VP? I know it's never been done before, but why not?

by Anonymousreply 201May 31, 2016 6:53 PM

I think Democratic voter participation will be down, but Republican and Independent voter participation will be up.

by Anonymousreply 202May 31, 2016 7:33 PM

by Anonymousreply 204May 31, 2016 8:53 PM

R185 I agree with you on two points. I have been telling friends that I think the only thing that can explain Trump's bizarre rants and lies is early onset dementia. Perhaps even Alzheimers. Both conditions can cause agitation and angry outbursts. The other thing is that yes, I think a certain segment of the population wants to be able to run around using derogatory remarks and inappropriate name calling, without incident. But the thing is, they can already do that in their own homes and with their like minded friends and family until their little hearts are content. Do they want to be able to publicly call people n____rs and f__s? I'm not understanding exactly what they are after.

by Anonymousreply 205May 31, 2016 9:23 PM

I really dont understand why Hillary gets so much hate, but Trump gets a pass. I truly believe nasty ingrained misoginy is really the culprit here. I mean, Im a Hillary supporter by Im into no illusions that she is some angel sent by heaven to deliver us. Im well aware of ALL hes shortcomings, and honetstly I really prefer having a nasty, mean, and manipulative old cunt on MY side (the side of the issues that Im for) than on the other side.... at least you know that she will not suffer Republican shit laying down.

by Anonymousreply 216June 1, 2016 5:01 AM

There's a damn good chance OP

Hillary is an awful candidate. That much has been clear for quite some time now, since 2008.

Running for office is a skill and she is severely lacking. She's a good enough behind-the-scenes person, but not someone you want running the show.

This is common enough in corporate America-- you'll have a very talented COO who gets passed over for CEO because they don't have the right personality to be the leader.

That's Hillary.

I waver between hoping that Trump will just go so off the rails that she will win and hoping that when elected, Trump will turn out to be the liberal Democrat he used to be, the guy who stands up for the T-people in the Great Bathroom Wars

by Anonymousreply 217June 1, 2016 5:14 AM

It's a two-termer if he wins.

by Anonymousreply 218June 1, 2016 5:24 AM

If America wants Trump, I guess it deserves him.

by Anonymousreply 219June 1, 2016 5:27 AM

I think the odds of him being a liberal democrat are slim R217. He's got to satisfy his rabid base. i hope you're not married to your husband b/c that will go to thanks to his SC appointments.

by Anonymousreply 220June 1, 2016 5:33 AM

Might combine some liberalism with pandering to the 1%. Because he's like Arnie and loves to bask in public praise. He'd be slightly controllable because of that. I don't dread a Trump presidency, because we've lived through R reigns before. Other factors will affect the quality of my life more in the coming years. Mostly what I'll do or not do for myself.

by Anonymousreply 221June 1, 2016 5:51 AM

Such nobility, R225. You don't vote for your own interests, but always for the interests of those less privileged than you. You're a rare gem.

by Anonymousreply 227June 1, 2016 6:18 AM

Thanks R227. Sometimes I actually think of other people as well as myself. Not everyone is as self-absorbed as Freepers. Some people actually care about other people. Not that you'd know what that's like.

by Anonymousreply 228June 1, 2016 6:25 AM

PS. you'll never get me to vote for your boy Trump, no matter how many posts you're paid for.

by Anonymousreply 229June 1, 2016 6:26 AM

I'm so angry at the American parties. Since 2012 everyone knew that there will be a new President in 2017.

Both parties had at least 4 years to groom a suitable candidate, and all they could come up is Clinton and Trump. For the most important job in the world.

Are you fucking kidding me? Do you think this is some sort of joke?

by Anonymousreply 230June 1, 2016 6:34 AM

It is true R5, I or even we never thought he would make it this far, however his momentum is undeniable, he is resonating with the lowest common , uneducated , group of voters, and those who never bother to vote will now, it will be real close , he has a clear shot. I do think he will do a 360 if elected and turn much more to the left once in office, just my view.

by Anonymousreply 231June 1, 2016 6:41 AM

He's not so rare R227. You're just too much of a self centered, self absorbed cretin to realize that there are other human beings who're capable of thinking about other people when they vote. For instance, abortion rights would not affect me but I'd still vote for someone who's for that. Gay rights and marriage equality actually required the support of people who were not remotely affected by it caring that someone in the minority was being harmed.

But as you're deficient in empathy and understanding I'm sure this is going right over your head. You'd actually be OK with a supreme narcissist being in charge of this country thinking to yourself what harm could he do. Considering that the last time we had a puppet president, George W Bush, we had the worse terrorist attack in our history, two useless wars that led to death, destruction and left us vulnerable to even more terrorist attacks and the almost total collapse of our economy, you'd think you'd realize that's an incredibly stupid position to take.

This man was just endorsed today by North Korea and is popular with Putin. Maybe because Trump wants to have even more countries get nuclear weapons so they can fight each other. That's all you need to know about how harmful he can be.

by Anonymousreply 232June 1, 2016 6:45 AM

R231 he has stated he will stack the SC with Alitos. He will not do a 360 Freeper. I will not vote for your boy Trump no matter how acceptable you pretend he'll be.

by Anonymousreply 233June 1, 2016 6:52 AM

Nice attempt to 'massage' the message R231. No self respecting out gay person would ever trust Trump to stack the Supreme Court and overturn marriage equality, a woman's right to choose, ACA etc

by Anonymousreply 234June 1, 2016 7:03 AM

Unfortunately I do, but I don't see him lasting too long (before some nut bag assassinates him or he has a stroke.) Then again If Hillary gets elected I can see the same shit happening to her. This is just an ugly election where neither party is deserving of the oval, except Bernie; but our system is flawed and only one party per side/is fucked.

I'm more worried about who the VP on each side will be, he/she will be in power.

If I believed in God, I'd probably pray for our future, but I don't so I will sit back with my popcorn and watch it all burn.

by Anonymousreply 235June 1, 2016 7:13 AM

Bernie isn't all that R235. Any man who'd try to steal an election even though he doesn't have the most votes is supremely arrogantly power hungry.

As for Trump, I think there's something off about him so I wouldn't be surprised if he eventually gets diagnosed with dementia.

by Anonymousreply 236June 1, 2016 7:18 AM

Well since R235 is so short-sighted and unrealistic, I can only. think you should let the Trump campaign know you made your posts so you can get paid. Please let them know though that this trying to slowly and cautiously lure gays to vote against their self interests isn't going to work.

by Anonymousreply 237June 1, 2016 7:25 AM

YOU as low life snake have a better chance at becoming President that Him With Little Hands.

by Anonymousreply 238June 1, 2016 7:34 AM

R233 and R234 I do not support him in anyway, he is volatile and unpredictable, I answered OP's question if he has a chance of winning and the trajectory he is on right now, and gave my opinion as to why I think he might. As to turning to the left I think he is a liar and misleading his party , and will screw them in the end if he is elected. He is saying and doing anything he can right now to be favored by his party, once elected and I will state my point again he will turn more to a liberal side, wait and see, this does not mean I am voting for him or support him in any way. and he is not my boy , read into what iI I am saying and the tactics he and his team has used so far , that are working, if you have the intelligence or insight into political strategies to do so.

by Anonymousreply 239June 1, 2016 7:39 AM

R235 is just a paid Trump shill who is trying to convince gay people to vote against their self interests (no self -respecting gay person would vote for what Trump promised to roll back via the Supreme Court).

by Anonymousreply 240June 1, 2016 7:40 AM

R239 if you were truly gay you would not sell out your brothers and sisters to try make them vote for Trump. He will NOT be a democrat if he's elected no matter how malleable you make him out to be. He vowed to appoint "Alitos" which will roll back marriage equality, a woman's right to choose, ACA etc. Let Corey know you did your job to try lure gays to vote against their self interests but you cannot really try to say Trump will good for gay people when he already said he wouldn't.

by Anonymousreply 241June 1, 2016 7:50 AM

I know a couple of financially sound gays, but most of them have lived beyond their means, and some have stayed with dud partners with depression, laziness etc. for years whom they unwisely chose to support because that person wouldn't go out and get a job...and the partner couldn't bear to be alone and live with his own thoughts. And now they are living in ramen noodle land.

Next week she'll win California and NJ and Sanders will be finished and the process to unite the democrats around Clinton will begin.

by Anonymousreply 260June 1, 2016 2:50 PM

Hillary is the worst of both worlds. She's a warmonger, so she will continue wars abroad. While at home she will appoint more nanny state officials like Julian Castro in high office.

by Anonymousreply 261June 1, 2016 2:53 PM

R160 You don't think Trump will do a bait and switch on the Repubs. He was a Democrat for decades and he has so-called New York values.

by Anonymousreply 262June 1, 2016 3:01 PM

R261 So says the idiot that will vote for that fascist.

You DO know he's sitting around Trump Tower thinking of ways to stab you in the back. Google Trump Baja California. Or Trump University. Or better yet ask him for those pesky tax returns he thinks we seem to have forgotten about.

It's sad so many are willing to accept this fool who will sell them AND their mama out for a profit. Trust me, he will. And THAT you can count on him to do. Nothing else.

Lowly educated?

by Anonymousreply 266June 1, 2016 5:06 PM

R266 I think he's mixing up poorly educated and low information.

by Anonymousreply 267June 1, 2016 5:28 PM

I am Euro. We say lowly educated. We also say highly educated.. and highly closeted like some of you miserable self-loathers.

by Anonymousreply 268June 1, 2016 5:33 PM

R268, you're an American. Nobody from Europe would say "I am Euro".

by Anonymousreply 269June 1, 2016 6:01 PM

r269 = lowly educated.

by Anonymousreply 270June 1, 2016 6:04 PM

If Hillary has a meltdown because the election turns out to be nowhere near as easy as she assumed it would be at the start, he might stand a decent chance. If she performs as well as her fans here insist she will, she'll win big.

by Anonymousreply 271June 1, 2016 6:08 PM

Hillary doesn't have meltdowns..she is a pro and has been taking bullets for years.

by Anonymousreply 272June 1, 2016 7:52 PM

If Trump wins, do you think the GOP will become more humble about holding Democrats to a high standard of morality? They can no longer claim good morals is important if they elect a several-times divorced admitted womanizer.

by Anonymousreply 273June 1, 2016 8:06 PM

Just saw a story about the Trumpster on Inside Edition all about his trump university scam. If it reaches the gossip rags it's reaching America especially as the unqualified teachers are quite willing to talk to the media.

Headlines like this will not help him: "Trump University Told Recruiters to Target Single Parents With Hungry Kids"

And this is not even the only scam Trump is involved in. There's a story that's getting very little play right now about how he's having a golf course built in Dubai and how the migrant workers who're working on it are basically slave workers. Vice did it but the major press hasn't touched it yet. I think stuff like that is just some of the stories the Clintons are keeping in their back pocket until after Sanders is dispensed with.

by Anonymousreply 274June 1, 2016 9:10 PM

r296 shh, there's no "Americans" now... he is a euro, bathed in the sin of his ancestors and yakub

by Anonymousreply 275June 1, 2016 9:17 PM

The press is pretending that Trump and Hillary are in a horserace. They aren't. Trump will lose every demographic except uneducated white men. There isn't that many of them to counteract all the groups that Trump is systematically pissing off. BTW I think Trump is INTENTIONALLY trying to piss off people so that he can lose and not have to really be the president. Trump has no real interest in this, it's one of his transitional interests that he drops when something else shows up.

by Anonymousreply 276June 1, 2016 9:17 PM

isn't=aren't

by Anonymousreply 277June 1, 2016 9:18 PM

Exactly R259. And it bears repeating.

Americans elected George Bush. [bold]Twice[/bold].

by Anonymousreply 278June 1, 2016 10:55 PM

If he doesn't, it will be because of Trump U, not because of Hillary. He doesn't seem to be sweating it so he must have something good on the cankled candidate.

by Anonymousreply 279June 1, 2016 11:09 PM
Hillary doesn't have meltdowns..she is a pro and has been taking bullets for years.

And skillfully dodging them in places like Bosnia.

by Anonymousreply 280June 1, 2016 11:09 PM

Hillary will annihilate him in the debates. Just crush him like a bug. His Republican debate opponents were afraid of him and wanted his voters so they took it easy on him. Hillary doesn't give a fuck about those right-wing loons who were never going to vote for her anyway. She'll destroy Trump - live and in color.

Good times.

by Anonymousreply 281June 1, 2016 11:36 PM

You give Hillary a lot of credit for what are only mediocre oratory skills. She may do well in the debates, depending on who she is that particular night.

by Anonymousreply 282June 1, 2016 11:47 PM

That was addressed to R281.

by Anonymousreply 283June 1, 2016 11:48 PM

This is going to be a very tough election for Hillary because she doesn't posses the necessary charm to overcome her low favorability ratings, while Trump does. I don't think she can count on an Obama like turnout simply because she doesn't inspire the same kind of enthusiasm, so she'd have to hope for low turnout on the Republican side and I wouldn't count on that. To beat Trump you're going to have to match him in the charisma department in order to take that advantage away and then the focus will turn to political experience and policy differences. It's going to be difficult for an uncharismatic candidate to win an election in today's environment.

by Anonymousreply 284June 2, 2016 12:16 AM
he will turn more to a liberal side

Trump will be pressured by the Republican base to appoint right-wing judges.

by Anonymousreply 285June 2, 2016 12:28 AM

R278 To his credit, Bush was born into money just as Trump was, but he didn't make a career out of financial scams and bankruptcies. Bush is not bright, but few believe that he is pure evil. And I don't remember him ever saying he wanted to bang one of his daughters.

by Anonymousreply 286June 2, 2016 1:51 AM

No, R282, I simply recognize the difference between a former First Lady, Senator and Secretary of State and a tv game show host. Hillary's many years of experience, deep knowledge of domestic and foreign policy issues and Big Show political chops mean that she will wipe the floor with him in any debate.

Trump was able to fuck up the Republicans because they were afraid of him and wanted the support of his voters. He's never been in a real debate, certainly not with anyone at her level. Hillary will crush him like a bug.

by Anonymousreply 287June 2, 2016 2:07 AM

R284, please, you funny man. Trump has no charisma nor charm. He's a demagogue. A con man. There's a difference.

by Anonymousreply 289June 2, 2016 2:23 AM

One man's con man R289, is another man's charismatic leader.

Understimate the Donald at your own risk

by Anonymousreply 290June 2, 2016 2:25 AM

We don't have to estimate him nor underestimate him, R290.

He's had his fun with the GOP primaries and screwing them over to a fare thee well. Now he's going to go up against the Clinton machine. They have estimated him, overestimated him, calibrated his every weakness and flaw down to the ground. They have already spent months gathering oppo research on his entire life and they will use it judiciously and with a deadly accurate aim.

Add to that the fact that Hillary Clinton has the person who is widely acknowledged to be the smartest and best politician we've seen in many, many years by her side and we've got a winner on our hands. Trump will be powerless to stop what is coming for him. He is about to be humiliated and beaten in a way that he has never experienced in all of his spoiled-daddy's-boy life.

Good times.

by Anonymousreply 291June 2, 2016 2:34 AM

I love, love posters like R291. Because I met about every one of them 8 years ago, rhapsodizing about how Hillary would wipe the floor with Obama.

Hillary's a proven loser and you lot are so damn stubborn not to see it. What's in it for you? Miss wars like Iraq? Love the current elites so much?

by Anonymousreply 292June 2, 2016 2:38 AM

I'm not defending Trump at all, R291, but I think you're fantasizing. I think Hillary is intelligent, but I doubt she or her handlers will be able to direct her strengths in the way you describe. Our current batch of candidates and their campaigns are disappointing in their lack of depth and substance. And that description includes Hillary, perception wise at least.

by Anonymousreply 293June 2, 2016 2:49 AM

I don't want Trump to win but at this point I think the election results will be so close that we won't know right away.

by Anonymousreply 294June 2, 2016 3:01 AM

Trump is beginning to terrify me.

by Anonymousreply 295June 2, 2016 3:05 AM

Hillary CANNOT win in the current political climate, Obama was a sputtering mess on the stump today, we're in Crazytown 2016 folks.

by Anonymousreply 296June 2, 2016 3:08 AM

The latest National poll by Quinnipiac has her up 45 to 41 for Trump. And that's with her fighting both Trump and Sanders and the state department news on her email. I think she's doing well with all that going on and Obama hasn't even started campaigning for her yet. I see lots of upside for her. Of course, she still has Sanders like an albatross.

The fact that you think that Trump needs to win the majority of those demographic groups in order to win the election tells us all we need to know, r299. We can safely disregard anything else you have to say.

by Anonymousreply 303June 2, 2016 3:31 AM

Those people who want Hillary to deliver killer comebacks are missing the point. Hillary has been chased and pursued by republicans for nearly 25 years on the national stage. She made it through 11+ hours of Benghazi hearings. She won't be wilting like Little Marco. He was pathetic since the day he gave the opposition speech and fumbled with his water bottle. He ruined his own campaign, Trump didn't do it.

Honestly, my only concern is that Bill Clinton could really lose his temper with Trump if Trump comes after Hillary in a very nasty and relentless way. She can take it and keep going. I don't think Bill can. Can you imagine him crossing the stage and decking Trump?

by Anonymousreply 304June 2, 2016 3:34 AM

We already know Trump is loathsome, but so many in this thread seem unaware at how unpopular Hillary is. She and Trump both have very high disapproval ratings. She isn't an innocent, picked-on person of integrity. There are many reasons she isn't well-liked. She really isn't a very good candidate.

Lots of wishful thinking in here.

by Anonymousreply 317June 3, 2016 3:39 AM

After seeing Hillary's foreign policy speech today, Trump doesn't stand a chance.

by Anonymousreply 318June 3, 2016 3:55 AM

I think this election is going to dispel two popular myths propagated by the left and the MSM:

1) That the White vote has been made irrelevant.

2) That American politicians and political parties must pander to foreign nationals in order to win American presidential elections.

by Anonymousreply 319June 3, 2016 4:11 AM

Even if Moore comes out with a documentary in the next few months, the only people who will watch it will be the already anti-Trump supporters, unless he uncovers anything NEW it won't make any difference among the idiots who are voting for him.

I mean, Trump goes on and on and on about how he has the Religious vote. That is pretty funny to begin with but shows just how dumb his religious supporters are. Trump doesn't believe in God, I doubt he ever has. Hell, he is is own God of his own world but he spouts out a few Amens and he gets the God vote.

by Anonymousreply 329June 3, 2016 4:55 PM

OP,

I will be fine if Donald Trump win this year's presidential election.

by Anonymousreply 330June 3, 2016 5:55 PM

And we would be fine if you would learn the English language R330.

Isn't that important to your republican candidate, Donald Trump?

The candidate nominated by the republican party to president of the United States?

by Anonymousreply 331June 3, 2016 5:59 PM

The reason that Hilbots screech about Hillary winning in a landslide and having the presidency locked up is because they don't understand the difference between the popular vote and the Electoral College. Hilbots believe that Trump has no chance and that Hillary will win in a landslide because Trump won't win the majority of nonwhite voters (how sad and uninformed). If they had any real understanding of the electoral process, they'd realize that not only could Trump win pretty easily, he's the one with a real chance of winning in a landslide. Banking on angry, rioting illegal immigrants (and their family members) isn't going to do much for the dems.

by Anonymousreply 332June 3, 2016 6:17 PM

Go ahead, somebody. Go ahead and ask Trump a valid question about policy. Ask him a question about anything that requires an intelligent reply. Just see what kind of response you get. The guy demonstrates on a daily basis that all he can do is rabble-rouse, condescend and insult. He still thinks he's in the fucking boardroom of "The Apprentice". Life is not a TV show, people! Get with the fucking program and recognize this guy for what he is, which is a con man. A snake oil salesman of the highest order.

Except for Benghazi, the Russia re-set button, Libya, Syria and that she ended her speech complimenting Obama's horrible agreement with Iran. The list goes on and on. I doubt Trump will be able to articulate these subjects very well, though. Too bad.

by Anonymousreply 334June 3, 2016 8:27 PM

I think (and hope) this speech will be the beggining of a change of perception of Hillary from a Tracy Flick to a Leslie Knope.

by Anonymousreply 335June 3, 2016 8:45 PM

That speech was meant to convince those suburban, independent or soft Republican fraus in Philly, Pitts, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Denver, etc. to vote for her and not gamble the future of their children in the hands of an unstable person.

PS: in the speech he gave yesterday at his rally, he was sweating like a hog. I do think there is something going on there on his mental health.

by Anonymousreply 336June 3, 2016 9:04 PM

He has symptoms of early dementia. What people see as flip flopping is him not even remembering what he said earlier. That's why CNN put up that graphic:

Trump: Never Said Japan Should have Nukes (He Did)

Also R336 I do believe Hillary was reaching out in part to Republican voters. NPR interviewed a group of them who had written a letter earlier that they wouldn't support Trump based on his nonexistent and/or incoherent foreign policy. They were asked if they were still considering Hillary after her speech and did they see any points of agreement and they said yes to both. .

by Anonymousreply 341June 4, 2016 12:29 AM

Or as Trump might say:

He's not going to get the nomination. There's nothing wrong with being incontinent. Nothing wrong with incontinence, but it's not suitable for the job. Not suitable, folks. We have no choice. We. Have. No. Choice.

by Anonymousreply 342June 4, 2016 12:33 AM

My mom said last fall that she suspected Donald had early onset dementia. She is a nurse. There was also a BI out there about a candidate with dementia which many people believed to be about Bernie Sanders.

by Anonymousreply 352June 4, 2016 1:08 AM

I'd be happy to, r346.

1) One candidate has to reach the magic 270, so starting out with an advantage is irrelevant.

2) The only two (racial/ethnic) demographic groups that are truly relevant to the Electoral College are blacks and whites, since they can be found in high-density in battleground states. Therefore, pandering to illegal immigrants is all for naught. It just turns off more relevant voters. Just to underscore the point, Romney could have won 60+ percent of the Hispanic vote and still would have lost.

3) Even the slightest movement (or turnout) in either direction from black or white voters can change the outcome of an election in a very big way.

4) Black voter margins will return to pre-Obama numbers by November (I suspect black voter numbers for Republicans will actually be higher than normal this election).

5) All else being the same, if Republicans get their normal numbers from black voters (between 10-11%) and about 2.5-2.8 percent increase from Romney's white voter margin, then say hello to President Trump.

6) Turnout has a huge impact on the Electoral College and Republicans have enthusiasm on their side.

7) Hillary would need Obama turnout and Obama margins to fend off Republicans in battleground states and she won't get either.

8) None of this sounds like a lock or a looming landslide in favor of Clinton.

9) Glad to help

by Anonymousreply 353June 4, 2016 1:40 AM

R353 writes,
Just to underscore the point, Romney could have won 60+ percent of the Hispanic vote and still would have lost.

No.

In 2012, Mitt Romney received 27 percent of the vote nationally from Hispanics. They were 10 percent the size of the vote nationally cast for president. That is 2.70 percent of the 47.16 percent Mitt Romney actually received in the U.S. Popular Vote.

Take that 27 up to 60 percent support from Hispanics. 10 x .60 = 6.00. So, instead of 2.70 it would have been 6.00 percent. That's a difference of +3.30. Add that 47.16 and that is 50.46 percent of the U.S. Popular Vote. Because that changes one's campaign, with more aggressive pursuit of the states which make a difference, Mitt Romney would have had enough to win not only with the popular vote but also in the Electoral College.

You have to watch yourself with those numbers.

by Anonymousreply 354June 4, 2016 2:15 AM

R353 thinks African Americans will vote for Trump so he's an idiot just by that statement. Trump scares the hell out of blacks, they will be invested in voting against him as will anyone with common sense.

by Anonymousreply 355June 4, 2016 2:18 AM

Hillary may take Texas because Trump is such a disaster.

by Anonymousreply 356June 4, 2016 2:22 AM

You're right, 354, you do. Once again, the popular vote and the Electoral College are two separate things. I know it's very un-PC to say, but Hispanics have a very limited impact on the Electoral College due to their high-density in non-battleground states. Therefore, trying to pander for Hispanic votes by pandering to illegal immigrants won't do you much good but it can do you a lot of bad.

You can't comprehend what you read, r355, but I'm the idiot.

If the Hispanic vote is enough to give Florida to Hillary, then it is enough.

by Anonymousreply 358June 4, 2016 2:35 AM

And besides an abundance of Cubans in Florida, there are Mexicans and Puerto Ricans and others in FL, too.

by Anonymousreply 359June 4, 2016 2:37 AM

Unlikely, r358. A lot will depend on white and black turnout and margins in Florida.

by Anonymousreply 360June 4, 2016 2:39 AM

Tell that to Al Gore, R360.

by Anonymousreply 361June 4, 2016 2:40 AM

EMAILS? Try MY African American.

Transcripts? Try he's biased because I'm building a wall to keep his people out. That's funny. I thought you said the wall was at Mexican border NOT the Indiana Ohio border.

Vince Foster? Try not only did I SCAM people out of their money with this bogus Trump University, I plan on doing it AGAIN.

Benghazi? Try EVERYONE should have nuclear weapons!

That thing is unfit to walk down the street let alone be President. PERIOD.

by Anonymousreply 362June 4, 2016 3:00 AM

R356 also thought Wendy Davis would win in a Texas landslide.

Let me refresh, she got her ass kicked.

by Anonymousreply 363June 4, 2016 3:03 AM

R281 LOL. You must be joking. Hill and Trump are both cunts. Her debate skills are out of The Election/Reese Witherspoon textbook. She is an annoying candidate. TO be fair Trump will be the guy everyone wants to have a beer with and bully the shit out of his buddy,Hillary. It will be an entertaining mess. Bill Clinton thanks for recruiting your bud, Trump, to run. You have such great taste in friends like Trump and Epstein.

by Anonymousreply 364June 4, 2016 3:11 AM

Well you're obviously wrong R364. She's been getting nothing but rave reviews in how she annihilated Trump in her speech yesterday and his response was weak, weak, weak. She would definitely trounce him in a debate as she's obviously smarter than him, more knowledgeable than him and more coherent than him. What he's got is twitter fame and nicknames. His appeal though is limited just like Sarah Palin's was. There's a certain segment of the population that worships stupidity but hopefully that's not the majority in this country.

There's some indication that bounce he got may just be temporary as well as Hillary is back to double digit lead over him in the latest Reuter poll. The polls will probably fluctuate but I think many are currently overinflating how popular the Orange worm really is.

Talk to me then, when they debate head to head.BTW are you oblivious to the fixjob that is happening? It seems so. Why would Bill Clinton get Trump involved in this mess? This has all been a fixjob to make Hill,President.

by Anonymousreply 367June 4, 2016 3:25 AM

LMAO R365.

Wow, rave reviews from Rachel Maddow. Who would have thunk it!

And, honestly, it's Hillary who has much better odds of stroking out. That's just medical fact.

by Anonymousreply 368June 4, 2016 3:25 AM

Trump didn't seem to remember what nicknames he was using for Hillary today. He seemed flustered and confused. Never mind his incontinence, I don't think he'll live another 4 years. He just looks ill. Maybe if his suits fit better, but then they'd show off his colostomy bag, and he's too vain for that.

by Anonymousreply 369June 4, 2016 3:30 AM

Gay people: who are your biggest defenders?

Secular Jews. Bernie would be the best candidate for a gay person.

by Anonymousreply 370June 4, 2016 3:30 AM

Trump may meet with an unfortunate accident before the convention if the refugs have their way.

by Anonymousreply 371June 4, 2016 3:34 AM

R367 I cannot comprehend the gibberish you just wrote.

And R368 the link I had was to the Reuters poll . She's getting rave reviews from all the major media from NY Times To Washington Post in which they correctly pointed out that Trump has no coherent foreign policy and that she effectively used his own words against him.

Why worry about Hillary's 'stroke' when the man you're lauding show many of the medical symptoms of dementia/alzheimer. HIs confusion, his lack of memory, his erratic behavior and just lashing out randomly at people all point to a medical issue. Listen to one of his rambling speeches and see how he goes off the rails. His brain is flitting from things to things and blurts out whatever it sees with no thought of the consequences--which is why he blurted out that "my African American' comment so randomly.

by Anonymousreply 372June 4, 2016 3:36 AM

Oh, the NYT and Washington Post..

Again, LMAO.

What? No Huffington Post?

by Anonymousreply 373June 4, 2016 3:39 AM

All minorities- Blacks, Latinos, Asians, Muslims, Jews, gays, women- all will vote for Hillary because the Neo-Nazi and misogynistic ways of Trump and his supporters scares the shit out of most of these groups. Only white men will vote for Trump.

by Anonymousreply 374June 4, 2016 3:40 AM

Name me your paper or media of choice R373. They all raved. The only whiny bitch about it has been Bernie Sanders and that's because he knows that Hillary Clinton just showed him up. She did something that he would be incapable of doing--taking on Trump (without boring us to tears talking about the evils of wall street---zzzzzzzzzzzz) and people are buzzing about it. He got flustered in a simple interview with the NY Daily News. Hillary withstood cooly and calmly hours of attacks on Benghazi and made the Republicans look like fools.

It also pointed out a fact that people are just now noticing--Hillary has been extremely easy on Bernie simply because she doesn't want to alienate his followers but she could have knocked him out a while ago.

by Anonymousreply 375June 4, 2016 3:45 AM

Everyone is so preoccupied with November's election, but meanwhile Obama is still allowing in more and more illegal immigrants, and more Syrian refugees. I'm beginning to hate him.

by Anonymousreply 376June 4, 2016 3:45 AM

R370, I can't be the only person sick of Jewish over-representation and nepotism. When your national politics is essentially a conversation between Jews, and politicians have to love Israel more than their own country, we have a problem.

by Anonymousreply 377June 4, 2016 3:56 AM

Hillary will slay Trump in the National Race, the GOP will say one thing on Monday and check that Hillary box on Tuesday. But they are stuck with him now, Trump WILL incite violence if he is not the nominee. Not to mention he is the ultimate creation of the GOP, self made "millionaire," tax dodging social net hating racist. Yes is their dream come true.

It really is clear that Hillary has handled "one note one speech Sanders" with kid gloves. I wish she had knocked that old fakes block off in the first go round. As noted everywhere her speech was lauded across the land - only the shriveled old man whined about it. On Tuesday he is finished - NOT A SINGLE DEM SUPERDELEGATE was voting for him no matter what happens in Calif... But after she fillet Donald so perfectly EVERYONE IS BACK IN LOVE WITH HILLARY - MADAM PRESIDENT!

by Anonymousreply 378June 4, 2016 3:59 AM

Is Sanders for open borders or secure borders? Because that's what I mostly care about this election cycle. Trump is too unreliable, and Hillary will be just four more years of Obama's awful (and illegal) border/immigration policies. If Sanders is for border security, I'm voting for him this Tuesday.

Someone get me caught up on Sanders and immigration.

by Anonymousreply 379June 4, 2016 4:03 AM

The American people want someone completely different..... and that's going to be Bernie or Trump.

by Anonymousreply 380June 4, 2016 4:05 AM

No one is for open borders.

by Anonymousreply 381June 4, 2016 4:05 AM

R379/R381, borders are an evil concept. You're discriminating against human beings over a passport. Any system where an accident of birth determines fate is an evil system. It's essentially racist.

I don't like all the outcomes that might result from an open-borders world, but I can't think of any good justification for our apartheid global system of borders.

by Anonymousreply 382June 4, 2016 4:06 AM

by Anonymousreply 386June 4, 2016 4:15 AM

"the Obama administration has deported a very small number of illegal immigrants from the United States.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement bureau deported nearly 410,000 aliens in 2012 when it received roughly $2.8 billion in taxpayer funds. The agency expelled just 235,413 aliens in 2015 but received around $3.5 billion to fund its deportation programs, according to the DHS statistics.

Deportations have dropped by 174,436 over the past three years despite an increase in funding totaling more than $680 million, according to the statistics.

Separate statistics issued by the Department of Homeland Security reveal that the administration deported less than 1 percent of foreigners who illegally overstayed their travel visas to the United States.

[Representative Brian] Babin compared the situation to a similar controversy over the administration’s plan to bring in more than 10,000 Syrian refugees over the next year. Congressional critics of the plan have warned that federal authorities do not have the capability to properly vet these individuals for ties to terrorism.

“It’s kind of like our refugee situation,” Babin said. “It’s very, very difficult to get information about how these refugees are brought into our country and settled around into localities without the knowledge of the local citizens.”

by Anonymousreply 388June 4, 2016 4:17 AM

"A federal appeals court on Tuesday denied the Obama administration’s request to lift a hold on the president’s executive actions on immigration, which would have granted protection from deportation as well as work permits to millions of immigrants in the country illegally.

Two of three judges on a panel of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, in New Orleans, left in place an injunction by a Federal District Court judge in Brownsville, Tex. The ruling comes in a lawsuit filed by Texas and 25 other states against actions President Obama took in November. Many of the initiatives were scheduled to take effect this month.

The appeals court found that the states had sufficient legal grounds to bring the lawsuit and that the administration had not shown that it would be harmed if the injunction remained in place and the programs were further delayed.

Also denied was a request by the [Obama] administration to limit the injunction to the states bringing the lawsuit. The ruling is a second setback for programs the president hoped would be a major piece of his legacy, raising new uncertainty about whether they will take effect before the end of his term and casting doubts on the confidence of administration lawyers that their case was very strong."

by Anonymousreply 390June 4, 2016 4:25 AM

R386, explain how it's not unjust to treat one human being differently from another over an accident of birth. That is what national borders mean.

Borders are a great evil that cause vast numbers to suffer, just like slavery was. It's that simple.

by Anonymousreply 391June 4, 2016 4:28 AM

The U.S. has always been a generous country and is right now spending billions of dollars on people who have crossed our borders illegally. There must be a limit, and our laws must be respected. Otherwise, everyone ends up suffering in a country with a ruined economy.

Are you upset with Mexico's corrupt government, R391? That hurts people much more than "borders".

by Anonymousreply 392June 4, 2016 6:36 AM

If he is elected he will not finish his first term. He does not know what work is...he will either step down or die before the first tern is finished. He is another Sara Palin, ignorant and ridiculous.

by Anonymousreply 393June 4, 2016 7:13 AM

I still can't believe he beat the other Republican candidates. I keep thinking somehow he won't be nominated at the convention, but that makes little sense now. It still doesn't seem like it's really going to happen.

by Anonymousreply 394June 4, 2016 7:19 AM

R392, the US uses Mexicans as underpaid, bad conditions, virtual slave labor. Utter rubbish that it's some kind of charity for illegal immigrants in the US.

What hurts people is denying them the right to move where they want. Yes, Mexico is a shithole, largely thanks to US demand for drugs fueling narco gangs and an influx of US guns. But the US is another kind of shithole anyway. Everyone in the world should be able to cross borders freely.

by Anonymousreply 395June 4, 2016 8:54 AM

R391 Instead of fleeing your shit hole country why not stay put, start a movement with your people to overthrow your government and fix it, instead of high tailing it to our country which in itself could use a fucking break. We have our own fucking problems.

I'm sorry you were born in a third world country, but hey.. it's (your) God's will, no?

by Anonymousreply 397June 4, 2016 11:22 AM

R372 Wow rave reviews from the mainstream press mean nothing. They are in the tank for Hillary to begin with. Now what you wrote was pure spin/Shillbot talking points. What you wrote is extremely irrelevant. Moving forward Hillary has to put away Bernie first, debate Trump and then we'll have an election. Until then 'receiving praise' is a worthless fact. Especially when Hillary has such a checkered past. We should check your IP to see if you are posting from Hillary's HQ in Brooklyn or not!

by Anonymousreply 398June 4, 2016 11:26 AM

OP, if you're that worried, get out and help Hillary get elected. You could be phone-banking making calls for the California primary right now from whereever you are to help get out the vote. You can make sure you not only get out & vote but get others out to vote! Trust me. Helping out on the campaign, meeting like-minded people will do wonders for your anxieties.

by Anonymousreply 399June 4, 2016 11:48 AM

by Anonymousreply 400June 4, 2016 1:08 PM

Hillary had a good week, and she needs a lot more good weeks. Trump had a bad week -- but most of his weeks should be bad. I loathe him, and I hate his supporters. They're basically aging white people looking for an excuse to use the N-word. The Republicans have made a huge mistake giving them their endorsements, even tepidly.

by Anonymousreply 401June 4, 2016 2:16 PM

by Anonymousreply 402June 4, 2016 4:11 PM

R344, I'm no Trump fan, but I don't believe he has early onset dementia. Now I have no problem believing Ben Carson has it. Trump is actually continuing to run his business and engaging in a variety of activities. I think he is conducting himself as a reality show host, not a politician who is accountable for his remarks. He tells every audience what he thinks they want to hear and then figures he can bluster his way past anyone who raises inconsistencies. Generally, this strategy has worked successfully for him.

Politician after politician and journalist after journalist has been afraid to come after him, because he skewers these people left and right. Even Megyn Kelly, who was insulted and then not supported by others on her network, did a softball interview with him when they had a return interaction on TV. Hillary, though, criticized him strongly with the facts and then had the documentation when he started in on her. She ignored his earlier name-calling and never descended to his level, an approach that killed other politicians. She did an excellent job with this bully and did not back down. She looks like a candidate in criticizing him and he just looks like a tabloid spectacle when he insults people.

by Anonymousreply 403June 4, 2016 5:20 PM

I don't really like Trump. He was horrible about the birther issue with Obama. I didn't like how he wanted to ban all Muslims from coming here. I think it's terrible that Trump University probably did scam the elderly and naive out of thousands of dollars. I don't like most of what he says.

In the end, I'll probably vote for him. I don't like him that much but I really hate Mexicans!

by Anonymousreply 408June 4, 2016 7:18 PM

There are about 6 things that will likely lead to the defeat of Hillary Clinton in November:

1) The anti-white, anti-male sentiment that has become commonplace on the left.

2) Patronizing, complacent, and authoritative attitudes toward blacks and the unending need to tell them what their concerns should be, while ignoring many of their actual concerns because they are politically inconvenient.

3) The left's open embrace and defense of Illegal immigration.

4) The left's embracement of extremists, rioters, and anarchists as well as the left's hypocritical embrace of Islamism.

5) The economy.

6) The rising crime rate.

by Anonymousreply 409June 4, 2016 7:29 PM

People forget Trump's age. He grew up in the 50's-60s. People back in those days were racist, thought women should stay at home and take care of the kids, there was no place for them in the workplace except as beauty queens, maids, nurses, teachers and stewardesses. The difference is, most people that age have moved on. Trump has not. Next time you read about his sexist comments to women employees, or comments about how if dinner wasn't ready when he got home, he would hit the roof, think about the middle to late 1950s and 60s. That's when he was growing up.

He is a product of the era he was raised in. Most people of that time have either learned to shut up about their obsolete social views, or have "evolved" along with the rest of the world. Hillary is from the same generation. She's kept up. He hasn't.

Hillary is also from that generation of women that were the butt of all those "a woman's place is in the home" men. She wants to go clean up the leftover scrapings of the pre-women's lib era, like equal pay for women. Young women think that's an obsolete goal. Just wait until they pass it and you get a raise out of nowhere because you didn't know the men in your office have been secretly making more money than you all these years. You think you're getting equal treatment. You're wrong.

In 2000, the male mailroom clerk where I worked was quitting. He took me aside and told me, an accounting supervisor, that I was making about the same as his entry level pay. After ten years. He'd seen a list of employee salaries.

Women of Hillary's 'women's lib" era have every reason to want more protections for workers. Women are the ones most likely to benefit from family leave, maternity leave, childcare leave, that older women didn't enjoy when their kids were young. Hillary is particularly interested in these issues. More protection for workers hurts wealthy male employers like Trump. Trump's interested in stopping worker benefits, not adding to them.

People keep saying having a woman's perspective in the White House isn't going to make a difference. It's going to make a big difference. Women are family oriented, they don't have that "every man for himself" attitude big corporations have. We need that different perspective to give us some ammunition against corporations that think workers are doormats.

by Anonymousreply 410June 4, 2016 7:38 PM

People don't forget Trump's age, R410, they just expect that in the 60 years since he was a kid, he might have learned something and kept up with the times. Obviously, he and his voters have not. The rest of us have.

And R404, I hope you're kidding. If not, you're an idiot.

by Anonymousreply 411June 4, 2016 7:53 PM

Great post r410. Just a question, feel free to not answer, what did you do after the clerk told you about the pay difference?

by Anonymousreply 412June 4, 2016 7:53 PM

I couldn't do anything. I didn't go to college, I had to quit school after high school to help support my sick mother. I had no leverage. I worked my way up. By the time I was supervisor, I had done every job in my department and some jobs in related departments because I transferred. Didn't matter. No college, no raise.

When I got promoted to the next job up, another person that held a similar job to the one I was being offered, took me aside and told me the salary they were offering me was actually lower than the minimum salary for that (new) grade. With a lot more responsibility. But I was so broke, I had no choice but to take it. I left a few months later for unrelated personal reasons.

by Anonymousreply 413June 4, 2016 7:59 PM

by Anonymousreply 420June 5, 2016 2:56 PM

R413 Everywhere I've worked, from retail to a large insurance/annuity company, talking about salary was grounds for immediate termination. I've never worked anywhere that people so freely discussed pay. I would personally find it very uncomfortable to tell you something embarrassing such as you making less than a mail clerk. Your co-workers have had a lot of nerve.

by Anonymousreply 421June 5, 2016 7:31 PM

The mail clerk was my friend and he was quitting. He already had a new job and was just working out his notice. I think that's why he told me. The other person was a long time, older woman employee that I was friends with. She was getting screwed over herself because the company generally underpaid women employees in management.

by Anonymousreply 431June 7, 2016 11:32 PM

Republican leadership aren't the ones driving this ship, though. And the Republican base isn't all that happy with the establishment. by Anonymousreply 438June 8, 2016 12:31 AM

The thing I hate most about Trump is he thinks this is all another "deal" he wants to ace. Speeches comprised of poll results (the ones where he comes out ahead). Thanking the crowd for helping him WIN. Mugging like a clown.

There are vague promises about what he's going to do (spoken in that East Coast way: "We're gonna do big things for them, they are very, very wonderful people. They've done great things for us. Thank you- whatta crowd- thank you").

Way to piss on the groove r424!

Florida as crazy as it is won't be voting for Orangina.

Even Rick The Hills Have Eyes Scott has rejected him. So there's THAT.

It's a long time until November. Cool down, people. None of the numbers matter that much right now. We go through this every presidential election cycle.

No, I don't believe Trump can actually get elected. He's too divisive, too mean, too, unpresidential.

by Anonymousreply 445June 11, 2016 2:09 PM

I think he'll run out of money. He won't want to spend his own. GOP may want to concentrate on 2020 and restarting the vast rightwing conspiracy against Clinton instead until then.

I saw on another site that the RNC website doesn't mention Trump on its front page.

It's true! Not a word or picture about Trump!

Oh, R444, it isn't enough for you that he's batshit crazy? You go with "unpresidential"? Haha!

Intellectually incurious; thin skinned; vindictive; insecure; in need of validation; admires murderous dictators; chronic liar; seemingly incapable of knowing the difference between lies and truth; incapable of admitting a mistake; racist; mean; power mad; greedy; dangerously mentally ill; megalomaniac; short-fingered vulgarian; roves signal con-man; cheap; does not pay his debts; spiteful; hates woman, lazy, fraudulent businessman.

Is this what you mean by "not presidential"?

Do you think the refugs are sick/sinister enough to take out Trump right before the Convention? You know, take out....
