‘Top Gun 2’: Jerry Bruckheimer Generates Excitement With Tom Cruise Tweet

Jerry Bruckheimer amped up the excitement for the production of “Top Gun 2” Tuesday when he tweeted a photo with Tom Cruise.
“Just got back from a weekend in New Orleans to see my old friend @TomCruise and discuss a little Top Gun 2,” the producer‘s tweet read.
Bruckheimer produced “Top Gun,” the Oscar-winning 1986 action drama that starred Cruise as young Navy pilot Lt. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell.
Development of “Top Gun 2” was confirmed last year by Skydance CEO David Ellison, who also shared some details about the plot.
“It is very much a world we live in today where it’s drone technology and fifth generation fighters… It’s really exploring the end of an era of dogfighting and fighter pilots and what that culture is today,” said Ellison at a “Terminator Genisys” press junket last June. The exec also hinted that Cruise would be returning to reprise his role as Maverick. “There is an amazing role for Maverick in the movie, and there is no ‘Top Gun’ without Maverick, and it is going to be Maverick playing Maverick,” Ellison said.
Val Kilmer, who played Lt. Tom “Iceman” Kazanski in the original, announced on Facebook in November that he was offered a role in the sequel as well, adding, “not often you get to say ‘yes’ without reading the script.”

Is Jerry Bruckheimer still a Republican?

Don't tell me Tammy is going to still be a fighter pilot. He's much too old for that.

Top Gun was from 1986. Maverick and Iceman would almost certainly be retired by now if now outright forced out of the service in one of the several intervening fleet reductions in force.

Trump tweeted:
[quote]It was the childishly written & taunting PR statement by Fox that made me not do the debate, more so than lightweight reporter, @megynkelly.

I think military pilots are done by the time they're 40, if not earlier.

Whoops.
Meant to post those on the Trump vs. Fox debate thread.

What excitement, even the idiots who loved the original aren't going to care decades later.

Plus mannish Kelly won't even need no make up to play Tammy's transexual lover.

And 30+ years later, I expect some of the original viewers are now deceased.

Plot: Tom is shot down behind enemy lines and is subjected to 30 yrs of brainwashing by a sadistic, greedy cult before being inserted back into American culture as a photogenic hero. Wait...

I'm going to assume Val Kilmer is now a drone pilot, seeing as how he's too fat to fit in a fighter cockpit.

So is Jerry Bruckheimer still a Republican?
That's a turnoff as far as I'm concerned.

Does Tom even have fans here ?

If Tom is actually going to play a fighter pilot in his 50s, this will be an unintentional comedy.

I knew Kelly McGillis was a lesbian the moment I saw her in Top Gun. Kelly McGillis herself apparently didn't figure it out until many years later.

Recent photo of "Wolfman" Barry Tubb (who also dated Kelly McGillis back in the day).

I think the first one should remain untouched, no sequels.

That's just great. Top Gun: The Old Farts Strike Back.
I wonder if the widow Bride of Frankenstein I mean Meg Ryan will be in this one.
She could play a burn victim.

Will there be actual gay pilot characters this time?
