Disappearance of Susan Powell
So DL, what do we think happened to Susan Powell?
She's the woman whose disappearance coincided with a strange midnight camping trip taken by her husband Josh and their two little boys. She's never been found.
Josh's father Steve was later convicted of voyeurism and child porn charges, and one of the subjects of his secret videotapings was his daughter in law, Susan. There was other evidence to indicate Steve was obsessed with Susan.
After Steve's conviction Josh's boys were taken away and custody was granted to Susan's parents. Josh was given visitation rights, which turned out to be a huge mistake -- on one visit he barricaded himself in the house, turned on the gas, and attacked the boys with a hatchet, but before he could finish them off the house exploded, killing them all.
After this there were some questions about how Josh's brother Michael had disposed of a car right after Susan disappeared. Michael committed suicide by jumping from a multistory parking garage.
So what happened to Susan Powell? How were these three men involved and why did one or more of them kill her?

Pretty sure Josh murdered her.
That's why he killed himself and his boys when the cops showed up.

That's definitelyNOT why he killed himself and the boys. He did that to spite Susan's parents -- it's typical behavior. If I can't have them, no one can.

This is actually a bit JonBenet-like, in that you know between 1 and 3 people were involved, but you just can't tell which, or why.

Some thought he killed the boys as well as himself because they were getting old enough to articulate their memories of what happened the night of the "camping trip."

Also they were Mormons so that's an additional level of weirdness layered on. Why those people do what they do is anyone's guess.

It is a bit like JonBenet because all the prime suspects/accomplices are dead or not talking. But there's no body, and Susan Powell was a bit of a frumpy frau, so there's less sizzle.

Is the father-in-law who was convicted of child porn and video stalking still alive? Still free?
Whatever happened, I'd bet he's the root of the problem. If two of a person's sons commit suicide, the odds are that the children of that family had a horrific upbringing.

He's still alive R15 but as far as I know he's incarcerated.
And R14 as he's still alive, and it's quite possible he was somehow involved, there is still a reason to obsess about it. One other reason is that Susan's parents were clearly NOT involved but one day their daughter disappeared and was never seen again.
