It's weird that this issue is even being pressed. I don't think I really have a racial preference. I tend to avoid dating black men, but that's not because I find them less attractive, it's because black straight people are proportionally more violently homophobic which makes the whole "meeting the family" thing a very real fear. There's the same issue with hispanic people but most homophobic hispanic families just kick the gay kid out of the house if they don't accept them, so they don't have a relationship with the family in the first place and thus no fear of getting literally murdered at Thanksgiving by a father angry at you for "turning his boy into a faggot".

Apart from the trolling and overt racist crap here, it's all rather a matter of people needing, for simple humanity, to be kind and polite when negotiating for anything with another, including sex. And if people have strong feeling against entire groups of people, it's good for them to try to understand why. That includes size, age, ethnicity, educational level and the rest. And sometimes the people who racist gay men assert are the least desirable for a relationship are precisely the people they want to be savaged by, and that is objectification at its worst.

It often just comes down to individual responses to individuals. I like black, Hispanics, whites, East Asians and Indians. That doesn't mean I am attracted to everyone. And I don't have sex with people to whom I am not attracted. And telling myself I OUGHT to be attracted to everyone would not get me anywhere, except maybe into trouble.

I don't get the obsession with making people remove the race preferences from dating profiles. It's not like that preference goes away once it's taken out of the bio, and it's not like you can force people to swipe right on a race they don't want to swipe right on. Leaving the preferences up is just a more honest version of the alternative.
