Hillary Clinton Email Scandal Crumbles As Justice Department Says No Laws Were Broken
Reality has bitten Republicans in the backsides again as the Justice Department is saying that Hillary Clinton’s emails broke no laws.
Justice Department lawyers argued before a federal court that Hillary Clinton’s handling of her emails broke no laws.
The Washington Times reported:
In the most complete legal defense of Mrs. Clinton, Justice Department lawyers insisted they not only have no obligation, but no power, to go back and demand the former top diplomat turn over any documents she hasn’t already given — and neither, they said, can the court order that.
The defense came as part of a legal filing telling a judge why the administration shouldn’t be required to order Mrs. Clinton and her top aides to preserve all of their emails.
“There is no question that Secretary Clinton had authority to delete personal emails without agency supervision — she appropriately could have done so even if she were working on a government server,” the administration lawyers argued. “Under policies issued by both the National Archives and Records Administration (‘NARA’) and the State Department, individual officers and employees are permitted and expected to exercise judgment to determine what constitutes a federal record.”
Republicans like Donald Trump love to compare Hillary Clinton’s emails to the crimes that were committed by David Petraeus, but the difference is that Petraeus broke the law by giving classified materials to his mistress.
The Republican email scandal is falling apart. If Clinton didn’t break any laws, why are Republicans wasting time and millions of taxpayer dollars investigating he emails? There is a reason Republicans would not allow Clinton’s aides to testify in public. Information is the enemy of the GOP’s bogus email scandal. The more information that is available to the public, the sooner the email scandal will fade away.
The email scandal is a media fueled time killer that only serves to distract attention from the real issues. Republicans don’t want to talk about their positions on the issues. They would rather try to distract the electorate with meaningless scandals.
Republicans can’t hide from the truth. There is nothing to the Hillary Clinton email scandal.

A lot of people owe Hillary an apology for slandering her over the past few months.

The NY Times Washington Bureau Chief just got the ax for her shitty pack of lies "reporting" on Hillary Clinton. Really, enough is enough with the double standards.

A lot of people owe Hillary an apology period R1.
It's stunning how she's able to withstand so much hatred and criticism and go about doing her job helping people. For that alone, she's miles ahead of every other democratic candidate running this year. None of them have had to endure what she's gone through. She's got balls.

Yes, poor little Hillary who apparently never does anything really wrong, just appears to exercise poor judgement at every turn. You can't get around the fact that this wouldn't have been an issue had she not set up the server in the first place (and with a little mom & pop operation out of a home, yet). Even if not technically illegal, it is discouraged and extremely insecure and unwise, given that she or her staff had to know she was one of the top intelligence targets for foreign spying.
I want someone with better judgement in making decisions and choosing advisors.

I don't understand why you would use your own email server. Wouldn't it be easier to use the one that comes with your job?

Right, let's get Biden in there, who can't get through a speech without putting his foot in his mouth and saying something stupid. Or Bernie, who runs off even at his own rallies when questioned on issues.
MUCH better choices than someone who has proven to be an effective leader, who can answer questions and speak eloquently on issues. And has never run out of her own rallies to boot.

Those aren't the only choices. Draft Howard Dean.

This all goes back to Day 1 when she wouldn't put out her cookie recipe as First Lady. She didn't know her place as far as America was concerned. People forget where this shit started from. They called her a dyke because she was a working woman who didn't stay home and bake cookies for her husband. Keep in mind that they also said that she had her MALE lover, Vince Foster murdered. The Right never understood the gay thing.

No one recalls when all of the Bush White House emails went missing?
Colin Powell used his own email server too. There were no rules against using your own email until after she left. This was known from the very beginning. It's unbelievably how the Right gets away with this garbage. I can't believe she took the fall for Benghazi when it was Republicans who wouldn't give her the security she requested for the embassy.

All the gays who work at the NY Times need to resign in protest for how the paper has slandered Hillary. I'm looking at you Josh Barro, Jeremy Peters, Frank Bruni, Frank Rich.

The Republicans need something to complain about. Seriously. If it wasn't Benghazii, it's email, or its something else, The media needs to fill up news time with something. There will be more issues raised.p, meaningless or not.

R13 Good idea. The NY times also needs to make a front page apology to Clinton for its malicious reporting.

R5, I suspect Hillary tired of the endless investigations by the Republicans, and wanted to avoid them. In the 1990s, the Republicans spent tens of millions of taxpayer dollars investigating the Clintons. They moved from one non-scandal to another, finally discovering that Bill lied about affairs he had, for which they impeached him. The top 3 Republicans who led the impeachment quickly resigned because of corruption, or their own hypocrisies because they had their own affairs. They finally made Dennis Hasteric House leader. It was only in 2014 that he was discovered to be a pedophile.
Anyway, I imagine she wanted control of her corespondence to avoid more partisan investigations, though it backfired on her.

I don't understand why Republicans hate her so much. Didn't she used to be a Republican herself?

So is this brilliant analysis why you resurrected a thread from 2015, Svetlana? Your trolling efforts are really quite pathetic.

Yes, we know. It was determined no laws were broken 20 or 30 investigations, inquiries, and hearings ago.
So, of course, they needed to bring this up again - just as cheeto's campaign is running out of money.
NOTHING raises money like hinting to deplorables that HRC is a crook and has gotten away with breaking the law or is somehow in the pocket of a foreign government.

Why do people think that Hilary's emails, which she produced as a part of her job as a government employee, hers to destroy, but Trump's tax returns, which he produced as a private citizen, must be turned over to the government?
This doesn't make sense.
