"Chozen" is about a gay white rapper who gets out of prison and embarks on a quest for redemption and success with a new message and new skills. It will begin airing in January 2014.
FXX to air CHOZEN - animated series about a gay white rapper
|by Anonymous||reply 192||06/24/2014|
I'll be checking this out but it'll be on FX on Mondays along with Archer. FXX will be offering Legit and repackaged episodes of Da Ali G Show instead.
|by Anonymous||reply 1||11/10/2013|
It's an "R-Rated" cartoon. Archer is great too.
|by Anonymous||reply 2||11/10/2013|
Anybody watch tonight? I had trouble with the lead character when I realized it was being voiced by Bobby Moynihan from SNL. To me, it almost sounds like the voice is different from the one in the promos they were playing over the past few months. Bobby's voice is too light weight for the character.
Not a fan of Moynihan, so I don't think I'll watch it much.
|by Anonymous||reply 3||01/14/2014|
He's not that hot.
|by Anonymous||reply 4||01/14/2014|
A weird show but strangely hot. He drops all these gay references and things into his conversations and raps, but no one has yet commented on it.
I will keep watching and see where this goes.
|by Anonymous||reply 5||01/14/2014|
Is he fit fat, or just fat?
|by Anonymous||reply 6||01/14/2014|
Fit fat, I think. He got toned up a bit in prison.
Strange language for basic cable -- I had the closed captions on and they used the word cunt in one of his raps. Plus a few others but not fuck.
|by Anonymous||reply 7||01/14/2014|
I want CHOZEN to be my husbear.
|by Anonymous||reply 8||01/14/2014|
I thought the character was supposed to be Hispanic.
|by Anonymous||reply 9||01/14/2014|
I loved this show.
|by Anonymous||reply 10||01/14/2014|
|by Anonymous||reply 11||01/14/2014|
The marketing of this show confuses me. Who is the intended audience?
|by Anonymous||reply 12||01/14/2014|
Chozen is a white American but there are plenty of other races and nationalities included.
|by Anonymous||reply 13||01/14/2014|
TERRIBLE! Worst show I've seen in a long time. I can't believe you are supporting it. The main character is exactly what heterosexuals fantasize/think/believe gay men are like in that their sexuality is out there, totally unfiltered and always about sex. It's supposed to be gross out humor.
|by Anonymous||reply 14||01/15/2014|
I knew from the promos that we were just being used for comedic exploitation. Can't believe gay people support this garbage.
|by Anonymous||reply 15||01/15/2014|
Is the creator gay? Why would a straight guy make his main character gay? That seems weird.
|by Anonymous||reply 16||01/15/2014|
Tom Brady is an executive producer and does one of the voices.
|by Anonymous||reply 17||01/15/2014|
I missed it,was it as terrible as it looked like it could be?
|by Anonymous||reply 18||01/15/2014|
What were the reviews like?
|by Anonymous||reply 19||01/15/2014|
Are there any actual gay people involved in this show?
|by Anonymous||reply 22||01/15/2014|
I am glad that CHOZEN is bearish, and not some skinny twink.
|by Anonymous||reply 23||01/15/2014|
R21, my take was that even HE doesn't really know he's gay... he's never really thought about it much.
He just is.
|by Anonymous||reply 24||01/15/2014|
r24, I just don't think he takes on a separate gay identity. He doesn't identify as gay or with gay culture, while being overtly interested and involved with dudes. That is not rare nor unusual in the real world, especially in the urban world, amongst the "bruhs," and among people of color.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||01/15/2014|
I think it's more than that. I don't think he thinks he's unusual or different. He doesn't really grasp that he's gay. He just goes about his business, unfiltered. And most other people just assume he's straight so his comments mostly just puzzle them, when they notice at all.
|by Anonymous||reply 26||01/15/2014|
I think it's more than that. I don't think he thinks he's unusual or different. He doesn't really grasp that he's gay.
I sort of agree with you, R26, but then there's the part about prison, which kind of implies it was just a prison thing.
The explanation of his jail time was strange because he said at first he was the "bitch," but then later when he found out how it worked, then he made other guys his bitch.
And when he was at the Student Union, he told the nerdy guy, "you're mine now."
So the whole gay thing is muddled because I'm not sure if he's just transferring his prison life to the outside world because it's what he's used to, or if he really is gay.
I guess we'll find out more as we watch more episodes, but I don't know if we can really call him gay yet.
However, his disinterest in girls pretty much implies that he's gay.
|by Anonymous||reply 27||01/15/2014|
r28, but a huge percentage of same-sex oriented guys never embrace or adopt "gay" identity at all. Never.
|by Anonymous||reply 29||01/15/2014|
I think they chose to make him gay because:
A. It's a novelty gimmick, and
B. it avoids a lot of teeth gnashing about sexism and racism.
|by Anonymous||reply 30||01/15/2014|
Not a single solid laugh in 30 minutes.
The rap scene was LAME and the fake cheering even worse.
|by Anonymous||reply 31||01/15/2014|
Not a single solid laugh in 30 minutes.
It's like Archer. You either love it or hate it. I actually think it's a novelty.
|by Anonymous||reply 32||01/15/2014|
r32, it's nothing like Archer.
|by Anonymous||reply 33||01/15/2014|
He's like a gay sex machine but the other characters, including his sister, seem oblivious to it.
I think he gets a lover in an upcoming episode. A jock, not the nerdy computer guy.
|by Anonymous||reply 34||01/16/2014|
He already said to that porn website guy that pussy wasn't really his shit.
|by Anonymous||reply 35||01/16/2014|
To me Chozen in obviously gay, and he knows it himself, too. I'm not quite sure why people think his gayness is somehow kept in the dark in the series. Yes it wasn't said out loud, but that doesn't mean that Chozen himself is in some sort of denial. If you've ever watched Archer you know that there's nothing subtle about the way the treat gay stuff.
But who knows, it was only the first episode. Maybe him being gay is one of the gags in the show. We'll see.
|by Anonymous||reply 37||01/16/2014|
Why did he drop his pants? Are there any pics of him without the black bar across his junk?
|by Anonymous||reply 39||01/16/2014|
It might be a different Tom Brady.
|by Anonymous||reply 42||01/16/2014|
No, it's the same Tom Brady. He did an interview about it.
|by Anonymous||reply 43||01/17/2014|
He doesn't really grasp that he's gay. He just goes about his business, unfiltered. And most other people just assume he's straight so his comments mostly just puzzle them, when they notice at all.
This has been done before, the Tobias character Arrested Development. I don't think it's supposed to depict a real person, after all it's a cartoon. I don't think real people are allowed to get away with acting very gay without anyone commenting on it and labeling them as such. Being an unlabeled gay person is just a fantasy, unless you're on the down-low.
|by Anonymous||reply 44||01/17/2014|
"I like it that he and others don't label his sexuality, he just lives out who he is."
How about a few jokes while you're changing the world?
It is a cartoon, right?
|by Anonymous||reply 47||01/17/2014|
|by Anonymous||reply 48||01/20/2014|
Can't stand anything to do with hip-crap, so I tuned in for 5 minutes & then shut it off. I won't be watching again.
|by Anonymous||reply 49||01/20/2014|
R53 is completely missing the point of what's being said #DumbAss
|by Anonymous||reply 55||01/21/2014|
R57, and what would lead you to think otherwise? Still seems perfectly true to me.
I don't think he thinks in the same terms you do.
It doesn't even occur to him that he's "different". He seems particularly oblivious.
That's the point. It just is.
|by Anonymous||reply 59||01/21/2014|
R60, you're STILL not getting what I'm saying. I'm trying to figure out if you're willfully not getting it, or are just dense.
|by Anonymous||reply 63||01/21/2014|
No, just someone apparently more intelligent than you.
|by Anonymous||reply 65||01/21/2014|
But I will say, once again, that the Chozen character is gay.
Nobody is denying this, dipshit.
He knows it, everyone else knows it. It seems ridiculous to me that you can't grasp such a simple fact.
It seems ridiculous that after explaining it several times, you still don't understand what I'm saying. How you can be so clueless is beyond me. I don't know how to explain it any more clearly.
You're missing the whole fucking point.
So far there is ZERO evidence that he labels himself or thinks of rainbow flags and gay bars and such. He just does it, clueless that there's anything 'different' about it. Just as the straight people just shrug off some of the things he says with respect to same-sex stuff, he equally shrugs off what other guys say about opposite sex stuff.
He gives confused looks (or bored look) just as other guys give HIM confused looks (or bored looks).
He doesn't think in terms of those labels. He doesnt' think he's unusual. He doesn't "get" that it's not what most guys do.
And R68? How so? I'd love to hear you try to justify that.
|by Anonymous||reply 69||01/21/2014|
First: Nobody likes a trolldar troll stalker
Second: Perhaps your reading comprehension is different than mine, but that post doesn't describe someone who is a "closet case".
|by Anonymous||reply 71||01/21/2014|
Yeah, not really. I think you're projecting.
|by Anonymous||reply 73||01/21/2014|
|by Anonymous||reply 79||01/22/2014|
it would be a funny running joke if his sexuality is never brought up [bold]buy[/bold] his friends and family even as he constantly talks about and fucks guys in front of them
|by Anonymous||reply 82||01/22/2014|
Still can't get into it, and that seems to be the general consensus. It's godawful.
|by Anonymous||reply 88||01/23/2014|
R87, I think it's mostly one closeted creep doing most of the squawking.
|by Anonymous||reply 89||01/25/2014|
All you people debating whether Chozen is gay or not are dumb as fuck.
The fact that you seem to think anyone is debating whether he's homosexual or not makes YOU dumb as fuck. Nobody is arguing that. Of course he's homosexual. That's not the point being made.
It's like this thread is over-run with complete idiots who can't even comprehend the simplest of statements.
|by Anonymous||reply 90||01/25/2014|
r69, r73 etc. please read this interview with the creator. it answers all your questions.
|by Anonymous||reply 91||01/25/2014|
R90 is fucking crazy.
Dude, come out of the closet already.
|by Anonymous||reply 92||01/25/2014|
Focus on the show, dude
|by Anonymous||reply 93||01/25/2014|
Get Glue is now known as tvtag
|by Anonymous||reply 94||01/25/2014|
R92, I'm neither closeted nor crazy. I'm just not as stupid as apparently some of you morons are. Jesus.
Reading that article makes my point for me in several places:
He's a gay man, but if you met him on the street, that would be the least interesting thing about him. He's very much, "I am what I am."
Chozen is completely comfortable about his sexuality; he doesn’t have any shame about liking “dudes with smooth skin,” but he’s a lone wolf. He doesn't have any kind of gay community.
So when he gets out, he doesn't really feel the need to search out any other culture. He's very confident, very sure of himself.
In the third episode [when he goes to a college LGBT group], those meetings might not be for him, but he gets it. He’s just not invested in it that way.
He's not capital-G "Gay", rainbow-flag-waving, protesting for rights, blah blah blah. To him, he just is. It is what it is, and he neither thinks about nor obsesses about it. It doesn't occur to him that he should.
And that's kind of refreshing... in that you don't often see that on TV anywhere. You see lots of over-the-the-top stereotypes, and you see a lot of people who are "GAY" first and foremost, and other things secondarily.
I really can't understand why you can't grasp something so painfully obvious... or why you think acknowledging this painfully obvious thing makes me somehow closeted (rolling my eyes), let alone insane.
Probably the closest thing you see to this is Teen Wolf, and even there, there's a lot of gay/straight talk, even if it's more matter of fact. Here, he's just behaving like any straight rapper would, only he's not straight. Straight people don't obsess over their straightness... they don't even think about it. It just IS.
And that's the point.
|by Anonymous||reply 95||01/25/2014|
He is openly, unapologetically into dudes. But he is ostensibly not identified with gay culture or gay identity. He just is who he is independent of a group identity surrounding his sexual orientation. He is just a dude into dudes. There a millions of males like him.
|by Anonymous||reply 96||01/25/2014|
R95 wrote this:
He doesn't really grasp that he's gay.
Which is 100 percent incorrect.
|by Anonymous||reply 97||01/25/2014|
No, R97, your comprehension of what I said is incorrect. I stand by that statement. It was made clear in the premiere episode that he doesn't really think of himself as 'gay', imho. He just does what he does, with no apologies or even cares or thoughts. He doesn't "identify" as a member of that sub-culture... and as the interview explains, it's mostly because he's never been a member of that subculture to identify with it. He instead identifies as a prison inmate & rapper. The fact that he has sex with dudes instead of chicks is purely incidental. He doesn't THINK about it enough to even consciously realize it's unusual. He's not that self-aware.
|by Anonymous||reply 98||01/25/2014|
It was made clear in the premiere episode that he doesn't really think of himself as 'gay', imho
Yes, he does think of himself as gay, you moron. Do you think he doesn't know that he's sucking cocks? Do you think he's confused? It's just the opposite, he's unabashedly gay.
|by Anonymous||reply 99||01/25/2014|
Yes, he does think of himself as gay, you moron. Do you think he doesn't know that he's sucking cocks?
You continue to misunderstand. I'm not sure why.
Yes, he knows he sucks dick and fucks ass and has sex with guys.
But no, he doesn't think of himself as "gay". He doesn't really think in those terms. Why is this so hard for you to grasp?
No, I don't think he's confused. Jesus, seriously, are you really this thick in real life? You have NO capacity for understanding any nuance? Seriously? I'm not sure if I should type more slowly when talking to you...
|by Anonymous||reply 100||01/25/2014|
So he does gay stuff but doesn't know he's gay or think of himself as gay. Gotcha, brain trust.
|by Anonymous||reply 101||01/25/2014|
R100, you seem to have very rigid meaning for 'gay'. Why can't people like Chozen be gay even if they don't identify belonging in the "gay culture"? Yes there are loads of men who don't like to live in the gay culture but that doesn't mean they aren't gay. And really, what is gay culture? There are gay people in all the walks of life, living a life of their own, even if that life is not straight from Looking. Chozen lives his own gay life, just like I do, surrounded only by straight people at the moment.
I think that we all here understand pretty well what we all mean.
|by Anonymous||reply 102||01/25/2014|
R101, you realize the term "Gay" has more connotations than "has sex with dudes", right?
And R102, People like Choszen can be gay. I'm not talking about your definition of the word or even mine. HE doesn't seem to think of himself in those terms. He just is, he doesn't think it's unusual, he's just himself, and doesn't even get that others might find it weird or wrong or different. He seems to be clueless to the whole of the politics surrounding it.. he's pure ID in that regard. He wants it and goes for it. And I think that's just really cool.
Gozen doesn't live a "gay life", he lives a "thug life", the life of a rapper and ex-con. Being "gay" is not his focus. He isn't going out and buying rainbow stickers, or marching in parades, or attending LGBT meetings. He's cool with all that, but it isn't him, and he doesn't seem to think in those terms at all... again, he doesn't obsess over his sexuality, he just lives it. LIke straight people do. He doesn't THINK about it I the way you obviously do.
Again, this isn't rocket science, and I have no idea why you're having such a difficult time understanding this.
You DO realize there are a lot of homosexual men who reject the label "Gay", right? That "gay" is not always synonymous with having sex with members of the same sex? I'm not one of those by any means, but I can recognize that others have different perceptions on both the word and the "community", etc.
Like a lot of black rappers who have sex with en "on the down low" don't identify as gay, reject the label, and perceive the word as being something defined solely by WHITE out homosexuals who are more feminen than masculine. That's THEIR perception (not saying I agree with it).
The point is, Chozen doesn't seem to think of himself as 'gay' in the same way that a homosexual black rapper wouldn't... even if he was totally cool with having sex with other guys and everyone knowing about it.
Are you getting it yet? Are are you guys going to still inssit I'm somehow not only insisting he's not gay, but that I'm also somehow closeted? (rolling my eyes)
Whatever. Your minds are obviously extremely closed, rigid, and unwilling to see anything from anyone else's perspective, especially if that perspective is different than yours.
|by Anonymous||reply 103||01/25/2014|
All this analysis over two 22 minute episodes.
We may learn more as the season progresses.
|by Anonymous||reply 104||01/25/2014|
R103, I think all you are talking about is your definition of what you think 'gay' is. It's billion different things and Chozen just happens to be one of those, just like each of us gay men are gay in our way in our own lives. You seem to say that being gay is the defining factor in the lives of people talking here, and that Chozen somehow transcends that into being something else.
I don't think the series has given us yet that much info about his life but from what I've seen Chozen loves and beds men. You don't in this case need anything else to make him gay. He doesn't need to be part of some 'gay culture' of gay bars and such. He is part of the gay culture just being what he is and that is a man who loves and has sex with other men.
|by Anonymous||reply 105||01/25/2014|
I think all you are talking about is your definition of what you think 'gay' is
For the thousandth time, no.
I'm talking about HIS self-perception. The way HE thinks about it (or doesn't think about it).
I know he's a gay man. I don't know how many times I can repeat that before you'll actually hear it.
I'm talking about how he defines himself, not how YOU define him, or *I* define him.
|by Anonymous||reply 106||01/25/2014|
but from what I've seen Chozen loves and beds men.
No shit Sherlock. Why do you think ANYONE is saying otherwise?
He is part of the gay culture just being what he is and that is a man who loves and has sex with other men.
I assure you that is utterly false. There are many men who have sex with men who aren't part of "gay culture" at all.
|by Anonymous||reply 107||01/25/2014|
R106, well he knows that he likes dudes and has sex with them all the time. What on earth more should he do to make him define himself as gay? Being gay just tells that a guy loves men and has sex with them. You seem to think that being gay changes man into some other species that can't do 'straight' stuff.
|by Anonymous||reply 108||01/25/2014|
There are many men who have sex with men who aren't part of "gay culture" at all.
Ok, now we've reached something.
Every gay man is part of the gay culture. There is not one kind of gay culture because there are as many kinds of gay culture as there are bi and gay men. Chozen's is just one kind.
|by Anonymous||reply 109||01/25/2014|
well he knows that he likes dudes and has sex with them all the time.
Why do you feel compelled to repeat the obvious. We all know this.
What on earth more should he do to make him define himself as gay?
Goddamn, you're thick. I don't know how to be any more clear. It has nothing to do with what he DOES, but how *HE* thinks of himself. He just does what he does. He doesn't label it. He doesn't worry about it. He doesn't perceive himself to be unusual.
Being gay just tells that a guy loves men and has sex with them.
That's YOUR perception and definition, and that's fine. It's mine too. But we're not talking about you, or me. We're talking about HIM.
You seem to think that being gay changes man into some other species that can't do 'straight' stuff.
I think no such thing, and I've never said or implied anything to make you think that.
Seriously, is your IQ over room temperature? I feel like I'm talking to a wall here.
Pull your head out of your ass please.
|by Anonymous||reply 110||01/25/2014|
Every gay man is part of the gay culture.
Gay culture encompasses gay bars, pride parades, fighting for gay rights, drag, and a host of other things.
Many men who have sex with men don't identify or participate in that at all... and not only reject that "gay culture", but are rejected BY it.
You're being very, very myopic here.
There is not one kind of gay culture because there are as many kinds of gay culture as there are bi and gay men.
And then you immediately contradict yourself. "Gay Culture" is a thing, and then you claim that everyone has their own... which is meaningless.
Sorry, you don't get to make up and then mash up, and then unmake definitions like that.
|by Anonymous||reply 111||01/25/2014|
So ... Hunter. Is he going to come back?
|by Anonymous||reply 112||01/25/2014|
Hunter's going to be a recurring guy:
Slate interviews the show's creator, Grant Dekernion:
Hunter"Slate: Do you think Chozen’s relationship with Hunter [the hot frat jock lacrosse-player, voiced by Ike Barinholtz the doofus of The Mindy Project] is a healthy one?
"Dekernion: Oh, I don't know if I'd say that. I think his relationship with Hunter begins in the way Chozen begins many relationships, but we tried to build in some subtlety. As we see them throughout the season, Chozen tries to find a way to have a relationship. It may not begin where it's a very loving, equitable situation, but I think Hunter will make it known that he'd like something more real, and Chozen will try to see if he's willing and/or able to do that. And you'll also see changes in Hunter. So, it's not healthy, but I think it's a dynamic that exists."
|by Anonymous||reply 113||01/25/2014|
Here's the Slate interview.
|by Anonymous||reply 114||01/25/2014|
You DO realize there are a lot of homosexual men who reject the label "Gay", right?
I'm not one of those by any means,
Oh, of course not.
|by Anonymous||reply 115||01/26/2014|
He is just a dude into dudes. He is not into the subculture identity or separate lifestyle.
|by Anonymous||reply 116||01/27/2014|
R115 apparently knows completely anonymous individuals he's never met better than the individual person himself (rolling eyes)
You're an idiot and an asshole. Seriously.
|by Anonymous||reply 117||01/27/2014|
On last night's episode, Chozen had sex with a trans man so who the hell knows with this show.
|by Anonymous||reply 118||01/28/2014|
I watched last night's episode too. It's 90% hip hop, 10% gay, at most.
Wont' be watching again.
|by Anonymous||reply 119||01/28/2014|
Biggest problem with this series is that it's just not funny
|by Anonymous||reply 120||01/28/2014|
It's plenty funny, as long you're not the kind of idiot that requires a BAZINGA! cue to laugh.
|by Anonymous||reply 121||01/28/2014|
Gay culture encompasses gay bars, pride parades, fighting for gay rights, drag, and a host of other things.
|by Anonymous||reply 122||01/28/2014|
R122 Tell us what does gay culture encompass if not those things listed?
|by Anonymous||reply 123||01/28/2014|
Gay culture isn't a bar. Gay culture IS Pride Parade because those are a celebration of courage, freedom, honesty, and life which is essentially fighting for gay rights post-Stone Wall.
Gay culture is also those openly gay men and women who have made their mark the arts, music, medicine and research, business, you name it. Gay culture are openly LGBT people who have made their mark on society in some way.
Gay culture isn't a "host of other things" as you dismissively state, which I'm sure to you, they are negative to you.
But, I'm curious, what are these "host of others things"? Be honest.
|by Anonymous||reply 124||01/28/2014|
Ok R124 So with the exception of the gay bar part, everything you called pure ignorance in R122 is actually examples of gay culture? How do you know that the "host of other things" dont include the things you listed?
|by Anonymous||reply 125||01/28/2014|
I have feeling the "host of other things" were not on my list, R125. That's why I asked him to be honest. I'm sure "glory holes" was on his list. Of course, now that I said that, I'm sure he'll deny that, but please. I know his agenda.
|by Anonymous||reply 126||01/28/2014|
Oh, I see, R126. The "pure ignorance" are things you imagined, not something that actually exists.
|by Anonymous||reply 127||01/28/2014|
No, his list was ignorant, R127. His list meant to mock and demean. You know that. Stop pretending like you don't.
|by Anonymous||reply 128||01/28/2014|
R128 Fighting for gay rights is mocking and demeaning? Gay pride parades (which you included in your list) is mocking and demeaning?
|by Anonymous||reply 129||01/28/2014|
I think a "host of other things" could include gay community centers, gay-straight student alliances, gay channels on YouTube, gay restaurants, gay coffee houses, gay movies and theater, gay bookstores, gay newspapers and magazines, gay TV programs, gay sports leagues, gay churches, gay cruises, gay vacation spots, circles of friends that include mostly other gays, gay celebrations in addition to pride (Halloween parades, street fairs.)
You can be gay (attracted to the same sex) yet never participate in the myriad of gay cultural experiences. Chozen seems to fall into this category.

R130: Which is exactly why the gay community shouldn't watch this crappy show.
It's about hip hop culture (I use that term extremely loosely), not about gay culture.
|by Anonymous||reply 131||01/28/2014|
It's about hip hop culture (I use that term extremely loosely), not about gay culture.
It's about neither. It's about a gay rapper.
|by Anonymous||reply 132||01/28/2014|
R132: Don't be deliberately obtuse. It's not attractive.
|by Anonymous||reply 133||01/28/2014|
R134: Grown men, posting trivial nastiness on an anonymous web forum. Pathetic.
|by Anonymous||reply 135||01/28/2014|
Chozen is not for kids
|by Anonymous||reply 136||01/29/2014|
Jesus, R103. Do you really think the straight men creators of Chozen even gave two seconds thought to the gay politics of Chozen or how he transcends gay identity? They would laugh at you for writing a thesis analyzing the identity politics of a character they just made up because they thought it was funny.
|by Anonymous||reply 137||01/29/2014|
R111, bitches like you never know when to quit!
|by Anonymous||reply 138||01/29/2014|
Wtf is wrong with people here with this stupid arguing? Anyway just watched the third episode and I have decided this show is amusing.
The beginning scene with his nemesis had me laughing my ass off and the show is definitely completely unique and like that.
|by Anonymous||reply 139||01/29/2014|
Andy Cohen had Bobby Moynihan on WWHL Tuesday night, and didn't ask him ANYTHING about Chozen or his character. What a missed opportunity.
|by Anonymous||reply 140||01/29/2014|
What was Moynihan doing on the show if not to promote his own new project?
|by Anonymous||reply 141||01/29/2014|
Andy didn't ask Moynihan any Chozen questions but he did mention the show several times, and a caller asked a him a question.
|by Anonymous||reply 142||01/29/2014|
This has to be the dumbest argument I've heard about a gay character. Obviously the character is gay, he's just not some typical urban white guy who immerses himself in the bar scene or goes to the community center or whatever. Chozen is just living his life, screwing men, trying to get back at his nemesis, etc.
The funniest part of the show isn't even the gay stuff, it's his whole fight with the dude who stole his career. I also like the other two friends.
All their characters are fully formed even with the stereotypes (hispanic guy with lots of siblings, black guy being supported by a girlfriend, hippie pervert who smokes weed, responsible sister who dates idiots), etc. The Hunter sequence was also very funny and so was the thing with the transgendered woman AND transgendered man. I've actually heard of transgendered 'gay men' who seek gay men even when they haven't had the full surgery.
|by Anonymous||reply 143||01/30/2014|
R143, of course it's a stupid argument. It's just one idiot who keeps arguing the same thing over and over. To him, Chozen isn't gay.
|by Anonymous||reply 144||01/30/2014|
I don't have all the gay genes (fashion sense and hairstyling are missing) but I do have the importants one -- cocksucking and old movie trivia.
|by Anonymous||reply 145||01/30/2014|
[quote I don't have all the gay genes (fashion sense and hairstyling are missing) but I do have the importants one -- cocksucking and old movie trivia.
LOL. The question is -- do you consider yourself to be gay, or do you not think about it at all?
BTW, What a bizarre set of posts . . .
|by Anonymous||reply 146||01/30/2014|
No surprise there are no actual gay guys involved in the show.
|by Anonymous||reply 147||01/31/2014|
Nick Swardson isn't queer? Surprise surprise surprise.
|by Anonymous||reply 148||01/31/2014|
Third episode was the best thus far.
|by Anonymous||reply 149||01/31/2014|
r131, it reflects the reality of many same-sex attracted men in that there are many bi/gay men who don't identify with or even pay attention to gay culture. CHOZEN is not rare.
|by Anonymous||reply 150||01/31/2014|
So, if Chozen doesn't think of himself as "gay", what was he doing in a Lesbian Gay Bacon Tomato center? (I mean, other than to score manass -- he did return with a message about self-acceptance.) Is he gay enough now?
|by Anonymous||reply 151||01/31/2014|
He thought it was a restaurant that served BLTs. He didn't know it was about gays or he wouldn't have gone. He doesn't identify as gay. He thinks of himself as straight and straight men love BLTs.
|by Anonymous||reply 152||02/01/2014|
Grown men watching cartoons. Pathetic.
Not sure who is worse, the "grown men don't" troll or the pathetic closet case who just won't let go in this thread.
|by Anonymous||reply 153||02/01/2014|
The "grown men watching cartoons" troll is just as big a pretentious douche as the "I don't own a TV" trolls.
|by Anonymous||reply 154||02/02/2014|
I don't watch television -- I have a fireplace.
|by Anonymous||reply 155||02/03/2014|
|by Anonymous||reply 156||02/04/2014|
Is anyone still watching? I'm still enjoying the show though I'm somewhat bored by the storylines that aren't centered around Chozen. I don't really care about the sister or the friends.
|by Anonymous||reply 157||02/04/2014|
I watch this every week and IMO the show is getting better every week. I though last night's episode was hilarious. They also get through a lot of things I would think the censors would stop such as the 'DP' comment (Chozen doesn't roll that way, besides, she's his sister so it's a gray area). My mother was watching it with me and she looked at me funny for laughing at the DP joke.
I didn't care for Chozen being all sensitive and shit but overall, hilarious episode and I can't wait to see the one where his old cell mate/lover gets out of jail.
|by Anonymous||reply 158||02/04/2014|
More Hunter, please.
|by Anonymous||reply 159||02/04/2014|
Unfunny show already cancelled like "Looking". Next.
|by Anonymous||reply 160||02/04/2014|
R160, neither show has been canceled. Stop making shit up.
|by Anonymous||reply 161||02/05/2014|
Loving the show.
|by Anonymous||reply 162||02/09/2014|
I always thought Nick Swardson was gay but apparently he's not.
|by Anonymous||reply 163||02/10/2014|
How come there are no new episodes of Archer, but there are new episodes of Chozen? They don't care about the Olympics hitting their ratings?
|by Anonymous||reply 164||02/10/2014|
My does not show any episodes for the next two weeks...
|by Anonymous||reply 165||02/10/2014|
Next episodes 2/24 and 3/3.
|by Anonymous||reply 166||02/10/2014|
|by Anonymous||reply 168||02/11/2014|
|by Anonymous||reply 170||02/17/2014|
Nice try, r169, but Michael actually said the words I'm Gay, so there goes that theory...
|by Anonymous||reply 171||02/18/2014|
Chozen returns with a new episode tonight, 2/24
|by Anonymous||reply 172||02/24/2014|
Am I the only one still watching?
|by Anonymous||reply 173||03/04/2014|
The last episode was especially gay.
|by Anonymous||reply 174||03/06/2014|
Has it been canceled?
|by Anonymous||reply 175||03/12/2014|
Hope not, I think Chozen's hilarious. I'd like to see more of his boy toy too.
|by Anonymous||reply 176||03/12/2014|
The episode with his mom and dad was really good.
|by Anonymous||reply 177||03/13/2014|
This episode points out that CHOZEN was gay all his life, not just after he went to jail.
|by Anonymous||reply 178||03/13/2014|
Just had a weird thought, but too lazy to check the rest of the thread to see if it's been brought up before.
You may have heard about some crazy grandmother talking about how 'Frozen' was going to turn kids gay.
Is it possible she got 'Chozen' confused with 'Frozen'?
|by Anonymous||reply 179||03/13/2014|
That's hilarious... but no :-)
|by Anonymous||reply 180||03/13/2014|
Fox, FX, FXX--so avant gay. Cosmos, too. So avant atheist. Fox, always in the vanguard of entertainment. NBC, MSNBC, CBS, CNN etc. Always so retrograde, pretending to be soooo liberal. Thank you Fox and all your channels==edgiest entertainment in last 20 years.
|by Anonymous||reply 181||03/13/2014|
I still watch this show & I don't know why. It's like a train derailment mixed with a fiery explosion I can't look away.
But J.K. Simmons played Chozen's dad this week. He's hot & so is his voice.
|by Anonymous||reply 182||03/13/2014|
I still really like this show.
|by Anonymous||reply 183||03/18/2014|
Last night's episode really hit the looks-ism, cliquishness, etc., of the gay community. Hard.
|by Anonymous||reply 184||03/18/2014|
This show is hilarious even with a deluded and unlikable protagonist. Glad Hunter is getting appreciation from others. Love how Chozen and friends are all whipped.
|by Anonymous||reply 185||03/18/2014|
CHOZEN needs a new boy friend.
|by Anonymous||reply 186||03/18/2014|
is it going to be renewed?
|by Anonymous||reply 187||04/14/2014|
FX announced today that Chozen has been cancelled. That's a bummer.
|by Anonymous||reply 188||05/15/2014|
|by Anonymous||reply 189||05/15/2014|
Too bad, although I'm not too surprised.
|by Anonymous||reply 190||05/15/2014|
The show was god-awful.
