What would you do in this situation?
I'm 22 and am in my last year of college, I live with my parents to save money.
Anyway, I have three roommates, two of them pays their rent on a monthly basis; I've witnessed with my eyes that they pay rent.
The third roommate, though, I suspect does not pay rent. I've never seen her pay rent before. Plus, the way she acts around my mother is weird. She's so ingratiating, and my mom can order her around like asking her to go to the groceries with her even though she's studying. Also, she compliments my mother non-stop even when my mom's making fun of her.
I've asked my mom repeatedly if she pays the rent or not. And she replies, oh ya, she pays 600 dollars a month which, in my opinion, is absolute bullshit, since the girl is poor. And my mom also insists that she pays by cheque and that's why I've never seen her pay the rent. Anyway, I hate this roommate so much, I feel like she's a free rider and I hate the fact that she's taking a chunk out of our money.
What would you do in this situation. Would you feel the same way?

Not your house. Not your business.
Move out on your own if you don't like it.

You live with your parents AND you have roommates? I've never heard of that before. Are you allowed to have guys stay over? (Yes, I'm assuming you're a guy.)
|by Anonymous||reply 3||11/07/2013|
Can't you see what's in front of you, OP? your mother and the roommate are bumpin' pussies.
|by Anonymous||reply 4||11/07/2013|
What R1 said. There may have been confidential conversations between her and your mother you don't know about.

I pray English is not the primary language of your university.
|by Anonymous||reply 6||11/07/2013|
I couldn't understand what the OP wrote. Your mother, however, sounds like a real bitch.
|by Anonymous||reply 7||11/07/2013|
It's none of your business OP.

What do you mean "our" money?
|by Anonymous||reply 9||11/07/2013|
You're dreaming if you think you're in your last year of college at age 22 in this economy.
|by Anonymous||reply 10||11/07/2013|

no doubt. Where does the OP live? China?
|by Anonymous||reply 11||11/07/2013|
OP, it's not your house. You are not the landlord. It's none of your business if your parents choose to let the girl live there without paying rent.
|by Anonymous||reply 13||11/07/2013|
Why on earth do your parents have all of these people living with them?
|by Anonymous||reply 15||11/07/2013|
R15 = some people do this in order to make ends meet and pay their bills.
|by Anonymous||reply 16||11/07/2013|
I'm just glad he witnessed this with his eyes and not his nose or ass
|by Anonymous||reply 17||11/07/2013|
OP , you're mother hasn't told you that the roommate you hate is actually your secret illegitimate half sister ..... so, I'll tell you ..... your mother is a whore, darlin' ...
|by Anonymous||reply 18||11/07/2013|
I suspect she's seething over your free ride, OP.
|by Anonymous||reply 20||11/07/2013|
What would I do? I'd go look for a mirror, sit by my bedroom window as the sun sets, hold the mirror up and whisper "Am I not my mother's child, and not wretched Gretchen? Is this... jealousy... I feel?"
|by Anonymous||reply 21||11/07/2013|
Is this like one of those Big Brother or Real World houses? Well then just gain Immunity/HOH and vote the bitch out.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||11/07/2013|
Have you considered murdering your parents ??
|by Anonymous||reply 23||11/07/2013|
Wait, you are living with your parents to "save money" so that means YOU aren't paying any rent either.
And wtf are your parents running a college dormitory? Weird.
|by Anonymous||reply 24||11/07/2013|
Do your parents have a permit to run a boarding house? Are they reporting that income on their tax forms?
I'm trying to envision the kind of house one would need to make this scenario not disgusting. Dorm rooms for three people are usually pretty large--larger than most bedrooms in a normal house. Yet, your parents are trying to eke out all the money they can by taking in lodgers, so they probably aren't living in a McMansion with expansive master bedrooms or a guest house.
Are you three living in a garage or something?
|by Anonymous||reply 25||11/07/2013|
Unless you are named on your parents' mortgage paperwork, this girl's rent payments are none of your business.
Weird set-up though.
|by Anonymous||reply 26||11/07/2013|
OP, please try to write like a college...oh wait.
|by Anonymous||reply 27||11/08/2013|
I think this may very well have jumped to the top of my list of all time most bizarre threads on the DL.... oh my.
|by Anonymous||reply 28||11/08/2013|

It's true! I seen it wif my own two peepers! My peepers don't lie!

1. Where the hell are you from, OP? I suspect a Canadian, because of "cheque," but your scenario sounds very low-class latin. (Latins have that same sort of ingratiating, sugary sweet rapport with people they consider servants. And because the poorer ones come from countries where they've seen the wealthy European latins employ the poorer "native" ones in just that same way, they try to imitate that type of behavior here.)
2. Who the hell would pay $600 per month to share a bedroom with 3 other adults? I suppose you're all sleeping in double-stacked hammocks, like pirates. I imagine the hygiene is at the same level.
3. How did your mom meet this roommate of yours? What is their relationship? It very much sounds like your mother and this roommate are both immigrants from somewhere else.
4. She's not stealing your money. She has indentured herself to your mother to repay the rent. Now, why is that a secret from you?
|by Anonymous||reply 30||11/08/2013|
It's not a boarding house; it's a WHORE house!
|by Anonymous||reply 31||11/08/2013|
So you're living at home, with roommates. Sounds like the worst of both worlds!
I've whethered a lot of unfortunate living circumstances, but thankfully none came with mom/roommate tension.
|by Anonymous||reply 32||11/08/2013|
OP is writing this from Moscow, circa 1986.
|by Anonymous||reply 33||11/08/2013|
OP is the girl who kicked over the hornet's nest.
|by Anonymous||reply 35||11/08/2013|
I would really just focus on my OWN wretched life, OP, and try to make some changes accordingly. You are living with your parents AND roommates, as others have noted, which is the WORST of all possible scenarios. The whole thing makes no sense. What kind of parents DO something like this? Take in borders like that? Do you live in a big orphanage house or something. What.The.Fuck? Honey, the fact that one of those borders might not be paying rent (which is between the border and your parents, n'est pas?) is the LEAST of your worries. In fact, it is not YOUR worry at all.
I would start with the question "Why does MY life SUCK so bad?"
|by Anonymous||reply 38||11/10/2013|
The OP's spelling of "mom" would indicate USA but his/her spelling of "cheque" says Britain/Ireland/Australia/NZ/Canada, no?
|by Anonymous||reply 39||11/10/2013|
Where the hell did OP go? HEY OP, you have a bunch of questions to answer.
|by Anonymous||reply 40||11/10/2013|
It's got to be a troll post. There's been no explanation for why the parents have taken in 3 boarders and where they all sleep.
|by Anonymous||reply 42||11/10/2013|
I suspect OP with the details about how the other girl seems subservient to his mother and is living there mysteriously for free is trying to Establish Sufficient Tendencies that point to the idea that the other girl is his parents' "submissive" or something.
It was just too poorly written to make it obvious. C- for effort. Better luck next time.
|by Anonymous||reply 46||11/10/2013|
OP, don't murder your parents like omw poster said. Just do us all a favor and kill yourself. :)
|by Anonymous||reply 47||11/11/2013|
Who cleans the toilet? The submissive non-paying boarder or your mom? Know this and you know the real dynamic of what's going on. And what's your dad doing while a house of strangers are running around him? The fact you say nothing at all about him leads me to think you have far, far more serious issues with your dad.
|by Anonymous||reply 48||11/11/2013|
The roommate is in love with your mother. They are bumping nasties when you are not home.
