Local news, R1.

If she'd sold that giant house, she could've afforded to care for her cats properly. It still looks great from the outside anyway.

by Anonymousreply 311/02/2013

A shame it could not have just stayed in the Kelly family.

In November 2012 the home was being prepared for sale. Cat lady's still there.

by Anonymousreply 511/02/2013

It was probably like that when Grace lived there.

r1 It is, for Philly. The Kelly's are still viewed as god-like. Even a shitty story like this gets air time. Too bad there weren't big pools of blood, it might have led.

"Is that considered an actual news story in the US? Holy shit."

You could always go back to the oh so sophisticated European Daily Maily if your so appalled.

Clearly the family thought differently, otherwise they never would have sold it.

Aren't most hovels...I mean homes in Philadelphia overrun with feces and vermin?

The family really plummeted from High Society after Grace died. Her hot brother started drinking and dating trannies and was arrested in South Florida. Her sister - who always looked a bit trashy - married down. There's no there there.

The Kellys and the Grimaldis were well-matched as both were arriviste variations of High Society Carneys.

According the the news story, the current resident has owned the house since 1973, long before Kelly died.

Perhaps the Kellys simply thought like MOST families, that the big old "family house" was too much for aging parents and none of the children wanted it. So they sold it. When did Grace's father die?

Why would anyone idolize Grace Kelly ? She was an actress that married a stooge of a prince and lived a miserable life by choice.

R14, that rather plebian synopsis of the life of Princess Grace of Monaco did not become a part of the zeitgeist until after her passing. Most people wondered if she was, perhaps, frustrated by not making any more movies or if she missed Hollywood. And perhaps some jealous folks wondered (hoped?) if she were "miserable." She made her own decisions, though. And got the life she chose. Good or bad.

Her wedding, her marriage was the stuff of fairy tales by all accounts. She did not get her happily ever after, no, but no one does. For what she DID accomplish in her life, it was a life elevated far above the banal lives of most people who looked to her for inspiration. No, she didn't cure cancer but she was iconic in many ways. It also was a different time, a different era. Movie stars were considered gods and goddesses back then, our American royalty. Really, Grace just traded in her Hollywood crown for a REAL one.
