Isabel Sanford was 19 years older than Sherman Hemsley, btw! That would NEVER happen on TV today.

by Anonymousreply 511/02/2013

Sherm had stretch marks around his lips that aged him badly, R5. They may not have fit chronologically, but Ms. Hemsley had been ridden hard enough to match Ms. Sanford's emotional age.

The A train doesn't go to the east side, R1.

Isn't NYC flat like the earth?

Depends what part of Queens they lived. didn't they live in Maspeth or Middle Village? That's nowhere near Long Island City, where the bridge is.

Most people traveling by car from Queens into Manhattan need to take the the 59th Street Bridge in LIC or the midtown tunnel into Manhattan.

Once off the 59th Street bridge, they need to make a right to get uptown.

The midtown tunnel won't leave you on UES, IIRC, it leaves you on 35th near 2nd Avenue.

They lived next door to the Bunkers.

That's the standard story you hear about the setting of All in the Family: Glendale for the imagery, Corona for the plot.

also, the building they pulled into and walked inside of was in the Wilshire Corridor on the fancy westside of Los Angeles.

by Anonymousreply 1111/02/2013

They lived in Astoria. They could have easily taken the N train.

by Anonymousreply 1211/02/2013

WRONG r11, the building they pull into is, without question, 185 East 85th Street in Manhattan.

by Anonymousreply 1311/03/2013

If you've ever watched the show, you know they took a cab over the 59th Street Bridge.

Was Sherman a "big old queen" privately? I know he was gay but have never heard any stories about his private life ever. Did he have a long term partner, for instance?
