Why did The Golden Girls never do a Halloween episode?

This troubles me.

by Anonymousreply 2511/01/2013

They did the golden showers episode

It would be like drag queens going as drag queens. Redundant ... and nobody would know the difference.

by Anonymousreply 210/31/2013

Oh please, if they had, it would have just been another flashback episode where they remember past Halloweens. One poignant, one silly and one set in Brooklyn in the 1940s with Lynnie Green as Dorothy.

Someone at NBC needs to explain. I'm furious about this.

by Anonymousreply 410/31/2013

Honey, EVERY episode was a Halloween episode.

by Anonymousreply 510/31/2013

Because it was a show about senior citizens and Halloween was primarily a children's holiday back then.

by Anonymousreply 610/31/2013

Dorothy did reference that one Halloween when half the kids in the neighborhood wore Freida Claxton masks.

Let's dig them up and have them do a zombie-themed episode right now.

by Anonymousreply 810/31/2013

They tried it once, but the neighbors weren't pleased that their children came home with samples of Metamucil instead of candy. (And Blanche's costumes were pretty risqué, too.)

by Anonymousreply 910/31/2013

You apparently don't remember the one where Bea Arthur's cock was the "trick" used to scare the neighborhood children away.

R10, Dorothy and Miles kissed on the lanai; they didn't have an affair.

GET IT RIGHT!!!

by Anonymousreply 1110/31/2013

Oh, god, shut up about the goddamn Golden Girls!

by Anonymousreply 1210/31/2013

Fuck you, R17.

by Anonymousreply 1310/31/2013

I agree, fuck R17.

by Anonymousreply 1410/31/2013

Great video, r19. I wonder if Dakota will grow up to be gay?

by Anonymousreply 1510/31/2013

Remember the episode when Dorothy fights the woman for the Ninja Turtle mask? It was a present for her grandson. That should count. Plus, they've dressed up as cats and that one time Dorothy was suppose to be the other half of the costume (but she threw Rose aside to hang with her writer friend). Not exactly Halloween but still dressing up.

by Anonymousreply 1610/31/2013

Gonna come off like a frau, but I loved that video R19 posted.

A Halloween episode?

How gauche.

by Anonymousreply 1810/31/2013

Since Halloween is the time for Frieda Claxton costumes, can I ask a question: are there very few big old trees in Florida or something? I'm from the Northeast and I truly never remember any discussion of the age of any tree in our neighborhood, nor of anybody caring if a neighbor wanted to tear a tree on their property down. Does the girls' obsession with Mrs. Claxton's tree make sense because the Florida ecosystem doesn't include many 200-year-old oaks so wanting to tear one down really would cause neighborhood controversy? Or is it just a far-fetched hook to hang a flimsy sitcom episode on?

Dorothy's wedding dress was all the Halloween costume we needed.
