Former Redskin Dexter Manley calls Troy Aikman a queer!
|by Anonymous||reply 46||11/02/2013|
I used to think he was hot, but I got tired of the big Nordic types, I prefer a shorter, Mediterranean type.
|by Anonymous||reply 1||10/28/2013|
It's still the worst thing in the world you can call someone apparently.
|by Anonymous||reply 2||10/28/2013|
Good for him. Speak truth to power Dex!
|by Anonymous||reply 3||10/28/2013|
Wow, what an asshole!
He's just bitter and angry that the Redskins were never able to win while Troy was QB.
Has this actually been picked up by national media?
That radio station is only in DC, right?

"I used to think he was hot, but I got tired of the big Nordic types, I prefer a shorter, Mediterranean type."
Sebastian was famished for blondes...
|by Anonymous||reply 5||10/28/2013|
The bro has gayvoice himself.
Interesting that no one said it was not true.
|by Anonymous||reply 6||10/28/2013|
R4: No, not really. Many WTOP reports are syndicated across the country through CBS-owned and -affiliated radio stations.

Dexter Manley struggled for years in silent shame because he couldn't read. Passed along from grade to grade, allowed to graduate from high school, given a scholarship to Okie State, and drafted in the 5th round to the Redskins. I used to have such respect for him, and enjoyed his game. I really loved him when he "came out" as more than functionally illiterate. That took guts.
It's just another case of someone who SHOULD be more accepting of others because they were looked down upon, forgetting just how many people laughed at him during his struggles.
Obviously he's still pissed because his Redskins never could beat Aikman's Cowboys.
|by Anonymous||reply 9||10/28/2013|
The exchange goes something like this:
Host: Was it a big jinx that Troy Aikman was doing the game, the former Cowboy?
Manley: I think Troy Aikman is a queer
Hosts: Uh oh! We don't want to go there.
Then they ask him if he wants to apologize to Troy Aikman and he says no!
Weird that he just dropped that "I think he's queer" comment with NO context. They weren't even talking about his sexuality or personal life at all. Weird.
|by Anonymous||reply 10||10/28/2013|
Well, Dexter Manley is a ****** if anyone wanted to throw vulgar, insulting epithets his way. In 2013 that shit doesn't fly.
|by Anonymous||reply 11||10/28/2013|
I don't know anyone that hasn't been called a queer.
|by Anonymous||reply 12||10/28/2013|
R11, what epithet would you call Alec Baldwin for his homophobic slurs?
|by Anonymous||reply 13||10/28/2013|
Sweet baby Troy.
|by Anonymous||reply 14||10/28/2013|
R12, that doesn't make it okay.
|by Anonymous||reply 15||10/28/2013|
R4, the story is being picked up. Sports Illustrated has an article about the incident on their website
|by Anonymous||reply 16||10/28/2013|
|by Anonymous||reply 17||10/28/2013|
Given Aikman's ten concussions during his career, R17, your joke may be close to truth.
|by Anonymous||reply 18||10/28/2013|
Actually, Troy recently tweeted in regard to Brett Favre's comment about memory loss and Troy wrote that, thankfully, he has not experienced that.
|by Anonymous||reply 19||10/28/2013|
Manley certainly sounds like he's been hit on the head a few too many times
|by Anonymous||reply 20||10/28/2013|
Will Troy respond?
|by Anonymous||reply 21||10/28/2013|
Coaches have occasionally outed Aikman too. I've heard the players generally know who is gay on the team, through the grapevine, and most don't care. So this persistent rumor that Aikman is gay is probably true, smoke, fire and all.
I think Aikman is pretty hot, like a macho version of Barry Manilow.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||10/28/2013|
Yeah, including the nut, Switzer. Nobody paid attention though. The Cowboys were winning and all was good in Cowboy-land.
|by Anonymous||reply 23||10/28/2013|
"Coaches have occasionally outed Aikman too"
When did this happen?!
|by Anonymous||reply 24||10/28/2013|
Well Switzer for one, as r23 said. I thought there were a few more. Regardless, the rumor has been around forever, I'm inclined to believe there's a basis for it.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||10/28/2013|
manley was merely affirming troy's sexuality in a queer positive fashion.
|by Anonymous||reply 26||10/28/2013|
Aikman is actually a queer though. In the homosexual literal definition way. Not the insulty straight way.
|by Anonymous||reply 27||10/29/2013|
Well, with it being 2013 and all, I think it's pretty doggone fine that an excellent, inspiring, DALLAS, winning NFL quarterback turned out to be queer. Take that, you butch fuckface straight players.
|by Anonymous||reply 28||10/29/2013|
Since when is "queer" a slur (as says Sports Illustrated)?
|by Anonymous||reply 29||10/29/2013|
When did Barry Switzer say he was gay? I must have missed that.
|by Anonymous||reply 30||10/29/2013|
[quote]When did Barry Switzer say he was gay?
AFAIK, he never publicly stated that. Several people have claimed that he said or hinted at it, but Switzer's never made any such statements in any public forum.
|by Anonymous||reply 31||10/29/2013|
Skip? or Rick? Bayliss wrote about it in his book. He said that Switzer mentioned it to reporters or personnel as part of conversations he would have. I don't think it went further than those circles. No one in The media wenf near it, though.
Troy despised Switzer so Switzer was trying to get back at him, somehow.

In an email this afternoon, Manley apologized for his comments.
[italic]In an interview with WTOP radio Monday, while intending to be funny, I used a slur to refer to Troy Aikman. It was wrong and insensitive. Anyone that knows me knows that’s not who I am in my heart or mind. I want to apologize to Troy, but I mostly want to apologize to anyone else I offended. Like a lot of people in these times, I have to realize that what I thought was funny years ago doesn’t work now. I’ll do my best to make sure it doesn’t happen again and hope you will accept my apology.[/italic]

"In an interview with WTOP radio Monday, while intending to be funny, I used a slur to refer to Troy Aikman."
Which makes no sense because there was no joke. He just straight up said "I think he's a queer." There was no punchline, no joke.
|by Anonymous||reply 34||10/29/2013|
Its interesting that all these reactions and apologies are being issued while the "insulted" party is in no way, shape, or form recognizing the incident at all.
|by Anonymous||reply 35||10/29/2013|
I like the color of his lipstick.
|by Anonymous||reply 36||10/29/2013|
Dexter Manley, unsurprisingly, displays the knot-headed, hate-and-rage-infused thuggery that clings to his heritage like the stripe on a skunk.
As for the asses who say that shouting "queer" is not a slur, the context and manner declares otherwise. The fact that he's clueless does not absolve him of being typically brutish.
|by Anonymous||reply 37||10/29/2013|
R37? Dear? Your first paragraph tells the world you are no better than Manley.
|by Anonymous||reply 38||10/29/2013|
Oh save it, R37, did you listen to his voice? Dexter couldn't be more gay if he had it tattooed on his forehead. Do you know where he got the idea Troy Aikman was gay? From places like this. Stop tearing down a sister, albeit apparently a closeted one.
|by Anonymous||reply 39||10/29/2013|
Why didn't Manley apologize on the air when they asked him if he wanted to?
|by Anonymous||reply 40||10/29/2013|
"Why didn't Manley apologize on the air when they asked him if he wanted to?"
Because it was a slur that was intended to be hurtful, he only passed it off as a "joke" when he got so much shit for it.
|by Anonymous||reply 41||10/29/2013|
It might have been funny if he had said "...but I ain't one to gossip now, so you ain't heard that from me!" after "I think Troy Aikman is a queer"
|by Anonymous||reply 42||10/29/2013|
Still no response from Troy?!
|by Anonymous||reply 43||10/30/2013|
I like the following response:
[bold]RigmasTFT > Tom Ley 4
Aikman is gay? Manley is the one on W[italic]TOP[/italic] every week.t
|by Anonymous||reply 44||10/30/2013|
[quote]Still no response from Troy?!
Presuming that he's heard the story, I would guess that he's decided that the best course of action is to just ignore it and not add to the controversy, whether he's gay, het, or something in between. It's not like anyone is really paying much attention to Manley.
|by Anonymous||reply 45||10/30/2013|
Come out, come out, wherever you are!
