Who was Judy Garland's Black Lover

People at AGC are saying this blinds item is Judy Garland. If so who was the black man?

"Old Hollywood: To see this woman in the last few years of her life was to see a shadow. A pasty shadow who looked as if she would crumble at any time. I guess in a way she was the original coke mom but her drug of choice was heroin. Introduced to her by some musicians she met at a recording studio they showed her what to do and how to inject it. One of them also became her lover and that would have been a scandal still reverberating if it had been discovered at the time. For her there could be no crossing any racial lines like that. The last year or two of her life the forever A+ lister would wear long sleeves to cover the tracks on her arm. Is it any wonder her kids had such huge addiction problems?"

Entertainment Lawyer is a fraud. Especially when he is talking about Old Hollywood.

Lena Horne!

Fred G Sanford period.

I feel like Judy Garland's life and scandals have been so raked over by reporters and biographers that it's hard for me to believe there could still be any big bombshells we don't know about.

Has heroin use been reported in any of the biographies?

{quote}"....Is it any wonder her kids had such huge addiction problems?"

Did Judy's other kids have addiction problems? I thought Liza was the only one.

R6, I like blue - a lot.

Lorna was an addict, too, r6 - coke, I think. Can't remember if it was alcohol too, or any other drug. She talks about it in her book. My impression is that she's had more success staying sober than Liza.

Lorna was into coke for a lonnnnng time. She sorted herself out, though.

Joey's addiction to blue isn't really an addiction per se.

Why do a blind item about a dead person? You can't libel the dead. You can write anything about a dead celebrity with no fear of a lawsuit. Tyrone Power's daughters sued an author for writing that their father was gay. They lost because libel laws do not apply to dead people in the U.S.

Yes, R10. Unless the African American gentleman (or woman - it's not specified, although it seems to be that Judy's alleged bisexuality has been exaggerated) is still alive.

by Anonymousreply 1110/27/2013

Is it Harry Bellafonee?

by Anonymousreply 1210/27/2013

Hattie MacDaniel?

by Anonymousreply 1310/27/2013

Judy Garland did not always wear long sleeves in her last years.

by Anonymousreply 1410/27/2013

It was in Ray Charles' autobiography.

by Anonymousreply 1510/27/2013

What is scandalous about having a black lover?

by Anonymousreply 1610/27/2013

Well, it's scandalous if you're a KKK member.

by Anonymousreply 1710/27/2013

Knowing Judy, it was probably Johnny Mathis!

by Anonymousreply 1810/27/2013

R14, that's right. Her sad, skinny, ugly arms often were on view.

And did anyone else ever hear that she was shooting? That was news to me. I mean, didn't she have other choices already well in place?

Maybe it's not Judy!

This "Judy was doing heroin" meme pops up from time to time to explain her especially rapid diminishment from early 1967 to mid 1969. It was really nothing more than the typical end of the road for any speed addict, but people are aghast at the seemingly rapid decline, and feel obliged to create their own narrative.
