David Geffen has parked his boat in Charleston Harbor

What now, y'all?

by Anonymousreply 4510/23/2013

Nobody? What do think Southerners would find unusual inside Geffen's yacht?

by Anonymousreply 110/19/2013

R1 A young man over 25

by Anonymousreply 210/19/2013

$200 million dollar yacht and still miserable.

by Anonymousreply 310/19/2013

The taxidermied corpse of Bobbie Gentry.

by Anonymousreply 410/19/2013

Don't you mean under 25, R2?

by Anonymousreply 510/19/2013

by Anonymousreply 610/19/2013

Lock up your sons!

by Anonymousreply 710/19/2013

This is how we Charlestonians say/spell ya'll. YA'll, Ya'll!

by Anonymousreply 810/19/2013

It was Risky Business and Tom Cruise that made Geffen a billionaire.

by Anonymousreply 910/20/2013

Billionaire?

by Anonymousreply 1010/20/2013

“That is easily the biggest one I have ever seen,” said Rutledge Webb.

Explains everything doesn't it?

by Anonymousreply 1110/20/2013

Seems appropriate that there's two twinks walking by in the picture.

by Anonymousreply 1210/20/2013

His estimated net worth is $5.5 billion, r10.

by Anonymousreply 1310/20/2013

Does he really mess around with twinks or underage boys?

by Anonymousreply 1410/20/2013

How did he get that rich?

by Anonymousreply 1510/20/2013

Behind every great fortune is a great crime.

by Anonymousreply 1610/20/2013

I didn't know he was in the mega-yacht club.

Costs approx 10% of purchase price to run a year, and 350K plus to fill up the tank.

Must be quite the twink magnet. Hand over your iphone and sign this Non-disclosure agreement before you step on board.

Wonder if he hires ex-Seals like some other billionaire yacht owners.

by Anonymousreply 1710/20/2013

It also belongs to Larry Ellison of Oracle. They share it. Cuts down on the cost.

by Anonymousreply 1810/20/2013

I guess he's going shopping for trade at USC and The Citadel!!!

by Anonymousreply 1910/20/2013

He bought out Ellison. He owns the boat by himself. Ellison found it was too big for most port. It can't get into any yacht harbors and must use commercial ports.

by Anonymousreply 2110/20/2013

It is the first time in his life David was told anything about him was 'too big'- other than his ego, and bank account.

by Anonymousreply 2210/20/2013

R20 Geffen's house, & property is a mind blower. He bought the home in 1990 for $47.5 million -including all furnishings (which included many antiques). It was the highest price paid at that time for any home in the U.S. He spent another $45 million on renovations, including moving the swimming pool & cabana (cabana boys extra) from the front of the property, to the back, so pool gatherers would not see cars arriving ,via the driveway - which he had covered with antique pavers brought over from Europe, and cut to exact measurements. Lanscaping alone cost almost $15,000,000. And for the lighting & watering of said landscaping, it was all computerized. Probably the only misstep that happened in the purchase & reno, was that Geffen put all the contents up for sale at auction , and, since timing is everything, all the wonderful custom made Billy Haines furniture, went for a relative song. It was very soon after that Hollywood, indeed, all designers, rediscovered Haines pieces, and their price has probably quadrupled since the Geffen sale. I recently saw 2 very ordinary bedside tables (from the Jack Warner Palm Springs estate) online for $6,000 each. And those are considered on the low end.

Warner/Geffen Estate - 1801 Angelo Dr., BH

Warner/Palm Springs home - 285 W. Via Lola, P

^^^^

$15,000,000 for the landscaping alone ??? Good God! The landscaping of the Beverly Hills estate is beyond anything I've ever seen.

It boggles the mind how someone who came from nothing now lives like Midas. The Warner estate, the Malibu house, the gigantic yacht...

by Anonymousreply 2410/22/2013

Here are highly informative tidbits in The Real Estalker about Geffen residences, starting with the Angelo Dr. property. Don't forget the readers' comments which are just as interesting.

R19 - sorry but USC is in Columbia, SC. But he can check out the gorgeous guys at College of Charleston. Also, we Charlestonians do not spell it "YA'LL" we spell it "y'all" and the plural of that is "all y'all".

The yacht is indeed the talk of Charleston and not in a good way!

by Anonymousreply 2710/22/2013

He's hoping to get gang-fisted.

by Anonymousreply 2810/22/2013

He was a free man in Paris.

by Anonymousreply 2910/22/2013

Parked? Aren't boats docked?

by Anonymousreply 3010/22/2013

Who cares about this evil man's wealth. Too bad all that money can't buy him a soul or better plastic surgery.

by Anonymousreply 3110/22/2013

No, R5.

R2 is correct.

by Anonymousreply 3210/22/2013

David is a top.

by Anonymousreply 3410/22/2013

Why do you think he's evil, Courtney?

by Anonymousreply 3510/22/2013

Well, disgusting old men with more money than God need sex also, and variety. I bet that he is sampling some Southern hospitality every night, and paying VERY generously for the "guests" not to vomit at the sight of his naked body.

by Anonymousreply 3610/22/2013

Does anyone else notice that he looks less ethnic as he got older? It seems like he had extensive surgery to wipe out his dark eastern european looks. I think he even wears blue contacts.

by Anonymousreply 3710/22/2013

I imagine his body is OK, for a man his age. If I were getting fucked by David Geffen, I'd worry more about my body and then I'd wonder how much he was going to pay me. Who cares about the body...it's about the money.

by Anonymousreply 3810/22/2013

So Mr. Hollywood likes to talk about Geffen?

Is Gallin still David's best friend?

by Anonymousreply 3910/22/2013

I don't think Geffen looks horrible. I also think his plastic surgery has been tasteful.

Even as a young man he wasn't handsome but he's far from revolting to look at.

Evil ? I think that's also stretching it.

by Anonymousreply 4010/22/2013

Well, I'm sure some of Geffen's business enemies call him evil, probably with good reason but I just don't believe he's evil, evil.

by Anonymousreply 4110/22/2013

[quote]Don't you mean under 25, [R2]?

Now, what would be unusual about that?

I wouldn't be surprised if even the crew is replaced when they turn 25. All but the captain, who isn't allowed to be seen.

by Anonymousreply 4210/22/2013

"Behind every great fortune is a great crime."

Only one?

by Anonymousreply 4310/22/2013

R25 The Real Estalker article, from several years ago, is almost right - with a few mistakes. For instance, the home mentioned on RE - 1896 Rising Glen Rd. was owned by Geffen, back in the late 80's. But the home songwriter Dianne Warren bought from Geffen, in 1995, was at the end of Tanager Way - not far away. ( A good friend lives next door).Tanager's another pedigreed street, re big names, both behind the scenes, and in front.

Keanu Reeves - 9024 Thrasher Ave. (It becomes Tanager)

(former) Tobey Maguire- 9000 Thrasher /sold for $10.7 mil., in '07

(former) Meghan Mullaly- 1435 Tanager Way / sold in May, for $9,970,000(next door to Tobey)

Winklevoss Twins- 1423 / Bought in '12, for $18,000,000

Francis Verber- 1415 / Director of original "La Cage Aux Follies"

(Wal-Mart heiress/niece) Sybil Robson Orr - 1407 / Bought from Simon Fuller, Producer/Mgr. (Am. Idol, Spice Girls,etc.)in '08 for $8.5 mil.

Dianne Warren - 1400 /Bought from Geffen in '95 - best view on street (end of cul de sac)

My friend - 1410 Tanager Way

by Anonymousreply 4410/23/2013

R39 Best friend may be stretching it, but very good friends - absolutely. Do I like to talk about Geffen ? I didn't start this thread - but for all the ego, and BS he spews out, and considering he's treated a lot of people terribly- no abysmally, over the years, I still find him a fascinating guy, albeit soulless.
