Who do you think should be the new Christian Grey since Charlie Hunnam backed out of the role. Between Henry Cavill, David Gandy, Matt Bomer, and Ian Somerhalder who would make the best Christian Grey?
Who Should Be The New Christian Grey Between David Gandy, Ian Somerhalder, Henry Cavill, and Matt Bomer?
|by Anonymous||reply 134||10/24/2013|
David Gandy would make an excellent Christian Grey looks wise moreso than Matt, Henry and Ian. Never seen him act though. But his face and look is better for the role imo.
|by Anonymous||reply 1||10/12/2013|
smells like a Razzie in the making!!!
|by Anonymous||reply 2||10/12/2013|
I don't care. But Henry hasn't looked good to me since this picture was taken.
|by Anonymous||reply 3||10/12/2013|
Definitely Matt Bomer!
|by Anonymous||reply 4||10/12/2013|
David Gandy for me. I would be a bottom for him and I've never bottomed for anyone. He wears his suits so nice and his eyes OMG! I can only imagine the passion he speaks through his eyes during sex.
|by Anonymous||reply 5||10/12/2013|
Justin Timberlake please.
|by Anonymous||reply 6||10/12/2013|
R6 womp womp! He's too busy battling Robin Thicke for the blue eyed soul king. He wouldn't have the time or else Robin would take his crown in music.
|by Anonymous||reply 7||10/12/2013|
|by Anonymous||reply 8||10/12/2013|
Maybe nobody since the book and story sucks.
Hunnam must have taken a look at the script.
|by Anonymous||reply 9||10/12/2013|
R9 Hunnam doesn't look like he owns a book.
|by Anonymous||reply 10||10/12/2013|
Put it on Lifetime and cast Tom Welling. Or is he too old now? Recent pic.
|by Anonymous||reply 11||10/12/2013|
This role is the kiss of death for any actor's career. You might as well do a Hallmark Movie of the Week. Let the fans pick the leads. They're the only ones who are going to see this POS anyway.
|by Anonymous||reply 12||10/12/2013|
Aaron O'Connell from Tyler Perry's "The Have & The Have Nots". He's hot
|by Anonymous||reply 13||10/12/2013|
R13 His acting is deplorable and he's not Caucasian with blue eyes, he looks mixed with Latino and Spanish or something.
|by Anonymous||reply 14||10/12/2013|
|by Anonymous||reply 15||10/12/2013|
David Gandy. But can he act?
|by Anonymous||reply 16||10/12/2013|
Does he need to?
|by Anonymous||reply 17||10/12/2013|
David Gandy looks obviously in his 30's, too old for the part. I vote for Alex pettyfur, he's young, hot, and looks like he can play the role without getting campy.
|by Anonymous||reply 18||10/12/2013|
In the book Christian Grey is written as older and more mature than the heroine, Petyfer is too young. I like Tom Welling for this role too, he is sexy and older.
|by Anonymous||reply 19||10/13/2013|
This project seems DOA before it even starts shooting...
|by Anonymous||reply 20||10/13/2013|
It should be James Scott from Days of our Lives. Absolutely. He is Christian Grey the way Vivien Leigh was Scarlett O'Hara.
|by Anonymous||reply 21||10/13/2013|
I agree with R21.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||10/13/2013|
I agree with R21 and R22, and would like to nominate Chandler Massey to play his partner in an all-male version. They absolutely smoke in their scenes together.
|by Anonymous||reply 23||10/13/2013|
Travis Fimmel from Vikings. He looks like Hunnam but is more striking and an excellent actor. My choice from the start.
|by Anonymous||reply 24||10/13/2013|
It doesn't even have to be an all-male version. The public would buy ms Massey as Anastasia without any problems.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||10/13/2013|
He really does seem to be the obvious choice...cruel yet cultivated.
|by Anonymous||reply 26||10/13/2013|
The role is too shitty for a professional actor like Bomer: he would never live it down.
Gandy has that haggard-handsome look that Sean Connery has aged out of. He'd be perfect.
|by Anonymous||reply 27||10/13/2013|
David Gandy! this pic SCREAMS Christian Grey to me!
|by Anonymous||reply 28||10/13/2013|
You delusional fucks.
|by Anonymous||reply 29||10/13/2013|
|by Anonymous||reply 30||10/13/2013|
A friend of mine interns at Universal and told me E.L. James has contacted Matt Bomer and David Gandy's people. Ian Somerhalder was a definite "No" for her for some odd reason.
|by Anonymous||reply 31||10/13/2013|
Bomer would be ill-advised to accept the role. R12 is correct that it's likely to be the kiss of death for its leading actor - the story is crap, interest in the books has fallen off, and many of the fans won't want to share their fantasy with a theater full of yahoos.
But if Bomer takes the role, they'll blame the failure on his being out.
|by Anonymous||reply 32||10/13/2013|
James Scott for this role.
Gandy is a joke.
Ian Somerhalder is too WB 50
Mat Bomer is too much of a "celebrity" though the idea of him going hot and heavy with a chick kinda turns me on. There better be some gratuitous shots of him sucking on her tits.
|by Anonymous||reply 33||10/13/2013|
Bet they offer it to Liam Hemsworth Is that the right brother? The older one from RUSH and THOR?
|by Anonymous||reply 34||10/13/2013|
Liam Hemsworth is the younger brother who was engaged to Miley Cyrus. Chris Hemsworth played Thor and is in Rush.
|by Anonymous||reply 35||10/13/2013|
Face it fellas....Bomer is NEVER going to be Christian Whatever the fuck his name is...he has no gravity,no authority,no danger and WAY too much baggage going in as a domesticated gay man with an older, Alpha daddy boyfriend and kids.
Besides,while very handsome he's far to sanitary, benign looking and vaguely submissive and asexual to ever be a serious contender for the role. Not that it's anything BUT a shitty,silly role.
|by Anonymous||reply 36||10/13/2013|
Chris Hemsworth has the Marvel franchise movies, he doesn't need the work badly enough to do this piece of crap.
|by Anonymous||reply 37||10/13/2013|
Why is everyone so obsessed with this warmed over,tired ass, played out book and it's soft-core, cliche characters that belong on Playboy TV.
|by Anonymous||reply 38||10/13/2013|
Isn't the character supposed to be in his twenties? Most of the actors mentioned have been too old.
|by Anonymous||reply 39||10/13/2013|
They should give this to an unknown since any established actor's career will only be damaged by it.
|by Anonymous||reply 40||10/13/2013|
This movie would only work if Adrian Lyne directed it 80's style.
|by Anonymous||reply 41||10/13/2013|
If not Matt Bomer or Henry Cavill, then why not David Gandy?
|by Anonymous||reply 42||10/13/2013|
Well I am glad Charlie Hunnan backed out. I mean I know I am not the only one annoyed all of these British actors are taking American roles.
|by Anonymous||reply 43||10/13/2013|
R41. "This movie would only work if Adrian Lyne directed it 80's style."
I agree...except it would have had to been made IN in the 80s.
The genre is just too trite now.
|by Anonymous||reply 44||10/13/2013|
Gandy definitely has the brutally handsome "look" down and a project THIS cheesy doesn't really need a thespian so I say why not?
And we know he's not afraid to show off his well-proportioned cock.
Let's make this happen!
|by Anonymous||reply 45||10/13/2013|
|by Anonymous||reply 46||10/14/2013|
David Gandy or Matt Bomer. Henry Cavill would be a fool to do this.
|by Anonymous||reply 47||10/15/2013|
Cavill would be doing this if he didn't get Superman, but now, he doesn't have to do it.
Like Joe... schedule.
|by Anonymous||reply 48||10/15/2013|
Mr Gandy would look convincing -and HOT - with a riding crop in hand...
|by Anonymous||reply 49||10/15/2013|
Mark Ruffalo or Live Schreiber should be the new Christian Grey. Seriously. Or Paul Bettany. I think they'd do something wonderful with the roles and elevate the entire experience. Oh, and if Live gets the role I'd insist on full frontal nudity.
|by Anonymous||reply 50||10/15/2013|
Bomer would apparently chew on rusty nails:
|by Anonymous||reply 51||10/15/2013|
Goddammit. Bomer would apparently [italic]rather[/italic] chew on rusty nails:
[quote]Yesterday a source close to Bomer confirmed to Yahoo Movies that the blue-eyed thesp has absolutely no interest in the role. As in, none. As in, it's not happening."
|by Anonymous||reply 52||10/15/2013|
Somerhalder can't act. He mugs.
|by Anonymous||reply 53||10/15/2013|
See? We tried to give you 'mos a chance to be taken seriously as actors by offering you a hetero role and you spit in our faces!
|by Anonymous||reply 54||10/15/2013|
Bomer is an idiot if he turns this down!
|by Anonymous||reply 55||10/15/2013|
Ha, as long as we're throwing around the names of out gay men, how about Adam Lambert? He's got Christian's gorgeous blue eyes. Plus, he's sexy, young and toppy......and he doesn't have an acting rep to ruin. Would have to work on keeping his voice in the lower register though. LOL.
|by Anonymous||reply 56||10/15/2013|
I read 50 Shades for a book group and could barely get through it. It SUCKED. It was like reading a teen girl's diary. But, I CAN say that if you want to be true to the character (caricature, actually) of the gorgeous, filthy rich, uber-confident, sexy Christian Grey, then Gandy is not your man. Christian is so handsome, people are stunned when they gaze upon his visage. Women swoon and men are intimidated. His looks are so striking that people practically start speaking in tongues when they interact with him (I know, puke).
Anyway, yes, Christian is sexy, but his face is more super-model stunning than Gandy, who is too rugged for the role. I see someone with a Bomer-like face, but a bulkier body. Bomer doesn't have enough swagger. If you took the best of Gandy and Bomer together----THAT would be the perfect Christian Grey.
|by Anonymous||reply 57||10/15/2013|
C'mon R57, he has swagger. Have you actually watched White Collar?
Matt is the perfect description of CG from what I've heard from fan girls of that book. Otherwise Cavill would be a favourite since he's the bulkier version of Matt.
|by Anonymous||reply 58||10/15/2013|
Yeah, Cavill would work. Has he turned it down?
|by Anonymous||reply 59||10/15/2013|
Are you insane? Cavill is no Olivier, but he wouldn't do this shit when he's already got a busy schedule.
He'd only be doing it if they paid him enough.
|by Anonymous||reply 60||10/15/2013|
Drew Van Acker (PLL, Devious Maids), Rob Wilson (AMC, Price is Right), Travis Van Winkle (Hart of Dixie, Friday the 13th).
No one who is lead in a TV show or has a superhero franchise will do this.
|by Anonymous||reply 61||10/15/2013|
Ian Somerhalder plays best as villans. I agree a guy with the lopks of Matt Bomer mixed with David Gandy and bulk of Henry Cavill should play Christian Grey.
|by Anonymous||reply 62||10/15/2013|
|by Anonymous||reply 63||10/15/2013|
"Stop trying to make David Gandy happen! It's not going to happen!"
|by Anonymous||reply 64||10/15/2013|
r61 Rob Wilson is pretty, no doubt about that. But he's only 23 and has a hard time being convincing as a powerful internet mogul on AMC. He also has an extremely had time being convincing as heterosexual.
|by Anonymous||reply 65||10/15/2013|
Some random article mentioned Justin Timberlake... ARE THEY FUCKING HIGH?
|by Anonymous||reply 66||10/15/2013|
Why not Liam Hemsworth? Blue eyes, dark and brooding, born 1990, masculine, sort of famous for being a heartthrob, but hasn't made it big yet.
|by Anonymous||reply 67||10/15/2013|
According to Lainey Gossip, the front runner is now Jamie Dornan.
|by Anonymous||reply 68||10/15/2013|
Jamie Dornan please
|by Anonymous||reply 69||10/15/2013|
Among, not between.
Between only refers to a choice BETWEEN two options.
Any more, it's among.
|by Anonymous||reply 70||10/15/2013|
Actually, Adam Lambert could be excellent in the role. He has so many "looks", he has modeled for a number of high-end fashion magazines in the UK...that I can't help thinking he could fit the role of Christian.
Here in a pap photo of him attending a party last week, he reminds me of JFK Jr. (certainly one of the better looking men of our time).
As far as voice, don't forget the guy has a multi-octave range. He can do "lower register".
Straight men play "gay". Why, for God's sake, can't an uncloseted gay man play "straight"? I actually think that a gay man playing the role would make the plot more interesting.
|by Anonymous||reply 71||10/15/2013|
R71, you are too gay to live.
|by Anonymous||reply 72||10/15/2013|
Any gay man who took the role would probably feel obligated to talk about the women he's fucked in the past.
|by Anonymous||reply 73||10/15/2013|
R72, I don't get what you are saying, except to think you are a self-hating mo.
|by Anonymous||reply 74||10/15/2013|
R71, Adam has a beautiful face and he's a fashion plate who looks great in clothes. But he's not buff enough to carry off the nudity that will certainly be required, even if he was willing to "go there."
That's why this role is so hard to cast. Christian Grey is a perfect physical specimen. Beautiful face AND amazing body.
Actually, a blue eyed JFK Jr. would be right on the mark.
|by Anonymous||reply 75||10/15/2013|
Adam Lambert.... I would rent that movie.
|by Anonymous||reply 76||10/15/2013|
I would lose ALL and I mean ALL interest if Adam Lambert got the role. Christian Grey is straight man that is gorgeous and Adam Lambert is a more attractive Clay Aiken queen. No thanks I will pass, never have and never will feature Adam Lambert.
|by Anonymous||reply 77||10/15/2013|
poor r77 seems a little slow.
|by Anonymous||reply 78||10/15/2013|
David Gandy is the hottest man on earth and I'm a Lesbian.
|by Anonymous||reply 79||10/15/2013|
Straight or gay doesn't matter when it comes to sexy. Lambert has twice won the "sexiest man in music" Billboard poll (with Brittany winning sexiest woman).
|by Anonymous||reply 80||10/15/2013|
Ew David Gandy looks too OLD
|by Anonymous||reply 81||10/15/2013|
[all posts by tedious troll removed.]
|by Anonymous||reply 82||10/15/2013|
R82, then I really wish gay men on DL would stop expecting gay actors to come out of the closet. If being "open" means you are limited in the roles you can play, then clinging to the closet is completely understandable.
|by Anonymous||reply 83||10/15/2013|
Is there anyone as sexless as Matt Bomer?
|by Anonymous||reply 84||10/15/2013|
R84, I doubt that Bomer is "sexless". Maybe he just is not a good actor, or maybe he just hasn't had a role that calls for total sexiness.
|by Anonymous||reply 85||10/15/2013|
R85, he's drop-dead gorgeous but he has ZERO sex appeal. If you can't see that, you're utterly blind.
|by Anonymous||reply 86||10/15/2013|
The gays should not be paying attention to this movie. It is a frau topic.
|by Anonymous||reply 87||10/15/2013|
[quote]If not Matt Bomer or Henry Cavill, then why not David Gandy?
Uh, because he looks like he's in his fucking 40s?
|by Anonymous||reply 88||10/16/2013|
Bomer comes across as sexless because he has Asperger's Syndrome. Like the fellow Aspergic beauties January Jones or Daryl Hannah, he combines ferocious beauty with an otherworldly, childlike quality.
He would make a very good Replicant.
|by Anonymous||reply 89||10/16/2013|
Ian Somerhalder isn't aging well. He would NOT be a good choice for this.
|by Anonymous||reply 90||10/16/2013|
Tilda Swinton in drag.
|by Anonymous||reply 91||10/16/2013|
Gandy is way hot. Boomer is cute, but dull.
|by Anonymous||reply 92||10/16/2013|
A British black guy.
|by Anonymous||reply 93||10/16/2013|
DANNY PINO should play "Christian Grey" and, in the process unveil his spicy uncut Cuban pinga to his eager fans.
|by Anonymous||reply 94||10/16/2013|
I am going to assume everyone in this thread who gives a shit about this movie is a thread because there is no valid reason that gays should be participating in a thread about this nonsense.
|by Anonymous||reply 95||10/16/2013|
R95 = worse writer than EL James!
|by Anonymous||reply 96||10/16/2013|
|by Anonymous||reply 97||10/16/2013|
I beg to differ with David Gandy being too old for the role.
|by Anonymous||reply 98||10/16/2013|
For fuck's sake, James Scott IS Christian Grey.
|by Anonymous||reply 99||10/16/2013|
R99 Nope! His eyes are weak and he's too old! Icy blue eyes all the guys mentioned (Henry Cavil, Ian Somerhalder, Matt Bomer, David Gandy) have icy blue eyes.
|by Anonymous||reply 100||10/16/2013|
Gandy is still way hot!
|by Anonymous||reply 101||10/16/2013|
R83, r82 is an idiot. He doesn't speak for all of us.
|by Anonymous||reply 102||10/16/2013|
Why not Jonathan Rhys Meyers?
|by Anonymous||reply 103||10/17/2013|
Theo James is now committed to Divergent.
Billy Magnusson is now a strong candidate. I thought not being able to be convincingly straight was a problem?
Drew Van Acker declined screen testing because he'd rather be in two cable (non-prestige) dramas than do this.
Jamie Dornan has said no, but is being pressured because the studio thinks it's their last chance at anyone remotely credible.
No names from Australia are being brought in. Truly, they are desperate.
|by Anonymous||reply 104||10/17/2013|
Where are you getting your info R104?
|by Anonymous||reply 105||10/17/2013|
R105, mostly assistants at managers/agencies
|by Anonymous||reply 106||10/17/2013|
According to Wikipedia, the character is supposed to be 26 or 27 so why are names of much older actors being bandied about?
|by Anonymous||reply 107||10/17/2013|
How is "no names from Australia" relevant?
Are people in Hollywood really that deluded about Aussies?
|by Anonymous||reply 108||10/17/2013|
Mostly because actors can play a little younger/older, and the older you are the more credibility you can have in your body of work. Also, EL James is a terrible writer, and wrote the character more like someone late 20s/early 30s.
|by Anonymous||reply 109||10/17/2013|
|by Anonymous||reply 110||10/17/2013|
R108, I think as a general matter, casting directors believe familiarity breeds contempt. When Americans hear someone from Days of Our Lives has been cast, it raises hackles. When it's Home and Away (which they don't know) it has no negative impact.
Risk aversion is key in Hollywood.
|by Anonymous||reply 111||10/17/2013|
Just googled Billy Mugnusson. He has gay face the movie would bomb if he is selected i wouldn't go see that. Of the lesser I guess Jamie Dornan. I would go on tumblr and watch the mini clip sex scenes and gifs, but would not be interested in seeing the movie.
|by Anonymous||reply 112||10/17/2013|
Why can't David Gandy just get some botox to smooth out the roughness and rugged lines a bit? Pluck those eyebrows a little, give him a sophisticated haircut, put him in a $1000 suit. Hmmmm. I think he might be our man. He comes closest anyway.
Gandy is a little old at 33 y/o, but R109 is correct. The author sucks and she wrote a character at 27 y/o who is far to sophisticated, worldly and accomplished to be anywhere near believable. So I think casting someone who looks older is fine.
I know why James made Christian so young. She had to because the character of Bella is supposed to be an innocent virgin. She already made Bella way too old at 21 y/o to have never even kissed a guy or had an orgasm (so fucking ridiculous), but then she couldn't make the male character too much older or it would be creepy (well....even more creepy than it already is).
|by Anonymous||reply 113||10/17/2013|
I love Matt Bomer and I think this project could sink a career. So let Ian Somerhalder do it.
|by Anonymous||reply 114||10/18/2013|
How about Jake Silbermann? He's straight and so hung that he can do full frontal.
Although Billy Magnussen is straight too - not sure why anyone's saying he has gayface?
|by Anonymous||reply 115||10/18/2013|
Gandy looks 43, not 33.
|by Anonymous||reply 116||10/18/2013|
and the Razzie goes to:
whoever is dofus enough to sign for this role.
|by Anonymous||reply 117||10/18/2013|
They're now saying Clint Eastwood's son is a contender.
|by Anonymous||reply 118||10/18/2013|
R118 that is totally PR by Clint Eastwoods people sent to blogs. I bet the Christian Grey chosen will be a barely recognized UK actor. Someone who does not have any obligation to another project. Clint Eastwoods son would ruin all credibility to Fifty Shades of Grey.
|by Anonymous||reply 119||10/18/2013|
|by Anonymous||reply 120||10/18/2013|
r119 Wait...you actually believe Fifty Shades of Grey has credibility NOW?
|by Anonymous||reply 121||10/18/2013|
Off topic, but is anyone else having trouble with this site? Only the old threads in my Thread Watcher are showing up. Nothing new. Although, I can post in those threads. The postst are not rejected. Am I being punished for posting in the DL killed my thread thread? It is sort of weirding me out. Any help, feedback, will be appreciated.
|by Anonymous||reply 122||10/18/2013|
I'm noticing the same thing 122. It's got my caftans in a bunch!
|by Anonymous||reply 123||10/18/2013|
If Scott Eastwood gets the role this movie will bomb at the box office.
|by Anonymous||reply 124||10/19/2013|
This project wouldn't have credibility if the ghost of Olivier played Christian Grey.
If they aren't able to pressure Dornan into taking the role, there are studio forces that will want some kind of "name" in the role, that's why Eastwood is in play.
As bad as Eastwood is, he can't be worse than Christian Cooke who was outacted by Steven Strait.
|by Anonymous||reply 125||10/19/2013|
James Scott would be perfect for the role.
Got looks and acting ability. Can play cruel and sadistic as well as romantic.
He's practically playing Christian Grey already on Days.
|by Anonymous||reply 126||10/19/2013|
Matt Bomer is kinda sexy/hot. He can pull it off.
|by Anonymous||reply 127||10/19/2013|
|by Anonymous||reply 128||10/21/2013|
|by Anonymous||reply 129||10/21/2013|
Matt Bomer would be the best in the role, but he is too good for it.
Actually everybody already mentioned in this thread is too good for it.
Actually I'm not sure if someone not too good for that role even exists.
|by Anonymous||reply 130||10/22/2013|
If the latest rumor that Paul Telfer auditioned is true, then you are absolutely right, R130. Pretty to look at but I cannot think of a single worse actor, including daytime TV.
|by Anonymous||reply 131||10/22/2013|
Bomer has already stated he won't do this shit movie.
|by Anonymous||reply 132||10/22/2013|
I have already lost interest in this move. Please let me know when it releases and the gif's and sex scenes hit the nets. I will look at those, but I no longer am interested in seeing this movie on the silver screen. The casting directors and everyone involved in selecting Christian Grey have ruined this.
|by Anonymous||reply 133||10/22/2013|
They cast Jamie Dornan. It seems that casting saga is over.
I think that movie is doomed anyway.
|by Anonymous||reply 134||10/24/2013|
