Should the tops of picture frames line up on the wall?

Or is the opposite true? I'm hopeless about decorating.

If it's just a few framed items, their midpoints should match up. If there are many, strive for an equal number of top and bottoms of the frames lined up.

What R1 said: "centered."

I've seen tops line up before, but not in the way you think.

by Anonymousreply 310/12/2013

The midpoints should be eye level.

We're revoking your gay card.

You * should * revoke my gay card. I have a fabulous apartment but it is barely decorated. Is there a way I can post photos of the problem areas and you guys give me free advice? Can I link to Photobucket from DL?

by Anonymousreply 610/12/2013

You could, but I'd still hate you.

by Anonymousreply 710/12/2013

I like the tops lined up.

by Anonymousreply 810/12/2013

An option I have often used with success: the points 2/5 of the way down from the tops of the frames (called the Visual Center of the image) should be aligned.

[R8} - who doesn't?

by Anonymousreply 1010/13/2013

Here you go, OP.

by Anonymousreply 1110/13/2013

That's excellent R11. Thanks.

How many? Arrangements look better in odd numbered displays and placed at different heights. Just lining them up in a line is boring.

by Anonymousreply 1310/13/2013

I have three, so I think it will be pleasing to the eye. They are prints of paintings of Paris by an artist named Renaux.

I was told to make a shape in your mind, oval, round, square and then place your pictures into that shape. It works for me but I have more than three on a wall. I usually line up three in a horizontal straight line. I guess that makes a rectangle.
