Should I be insulted?

I saw my brother earlier today at my mom's. I could tell he was down, so I asked him what the matter was. He replied that "it's a guy wouldn't understand." I didn't respond to him, but my heart fell into my stomach. I was really hurt by that statement.

My brother was homophobic in the past, and I thought he got through all of that. We're not the closest of brothers, but I thought he was more accepting than to make such a homophobic comment. I probably shouldn't care what he thinks, but still he's my brother. Am I being too sensitive?

What the Hell did he mean by that!? You're a guy, aren't you? Punch him and throw him down the basement stairs. He'll get out of his li'l funk right quick!

OP, maybe you should work on feeling more confident. The correct response is, "well, I'm a guy."

Why didn't you say, "I'm a guy." Damn, people like you get on my nerves.

What r6 & r7 said. He doesn't respect you because you're obviously a doormat.

You should be insulted. Fuck him. God I hate family.

No, you're not overthinking it, OP - that was a jerk comment.

Subtle homophobia - he might as well have called you a faggot.

What does your heart tell you?

Hell, I have straight friends talk to me about girl trouble. Be insulted, OP. But he sounds like he's inherently an ass, so don't be too insulted. Just stand up for yourself next time if you really care.
