Falcon Crest Reboot In The Works!
Following TNT's successful Dallas relaunch, stars of the 1981-1990 CBS primetime soap Falcon Crest have been approached by one of the original show's writers about their interest in appearing in a reboot.
"There's not much I can say, for reasons that go beyond myself," original star William Moses said
"Warner Bros. owns the rights and so it's a discussion between them and the writers. There is a pitch and an idea germinating that has some traction. The producers contacted me to ask if I'd be interested, and I said yes. Where it goes on the producing side, I don't know."
"David Selby (Richard) and I speak periodically and are old friends and it would be fascinating for me to work with him again," says Moses, whose character exited the series after six seasons. "Life was too small for Cole in the vineyards, so he went to Australia to form a new life. Because the character was left open-ended, I would be curious to see what that boy became as a man. I can see him coming back to the valley with a chip on his shoulder."
So how would this work?

I liked Selby better on Flamingo Road.
|by Anonymous||reply 2||10/10/2013|
All the good characters were killed off!
Chase, Maggie, Terry, Melissa, Angela (well not killed off, but Jane Wyman is longer with us)
|by Anonymous||reply 3||10/10/2013|
Kristian Alfonso replaced Ana Alicia, while Wendy Phillips replaced Susan Sullivan. Strictly because both actresses were cheaper than the ones they replaced.
|by Anonymous||reply 4||10/10/2013|
Oh please. Nobody cares about Falcon Crest. If they can't bring back Dynasty, then let it end with Dallas, which has been a decent reboot.
|by Anonymous||reply 5||10/10/2013|
[quote] If they can't bring back Dynasty
The problem with that is Linda and Joan. They both want to do the show, but not with each other.
|by Anonymous||reply 6||10/10/2013|
What? No one wants to bring back Knot's Landing?
|by Anonymous||reply 7||10/10/2013|
Why bother? Jane Wyman has passed away, Susan Sullivan is doing Castle.
|by Anonymous||reply 8||10/10/2013|
[quote] Susan Sullivan is doing Castle.
But her replacement, Wendy Phillips, is available.
|by Anonymous||reply 9||10/10/2013|
R6 is right, Linda and Joan did Legends and it was a problematic production with Joan's rather nasty notes afterwards. Linda also has done good investments, so I guess she doesn't need the money.
|by Anonymous||reply 10||10/10/2013|
Linda has pretty much retired and is pursuing spirituality and cooking. She doesn't need to act anymore.
But you can't do Dynasty right without Linda and Joan.
|by Anonymous||reply 11||10/10/2013|
R9 Yes, but she did like half season and was her character really interesting? I think the series needs some of the stars from the original like Lamas, Alicia, Sullivan.
|by Anonymous||reply 12||10/10/2013|
[quote] she did like half season and was her character really interesting?
She was playing Maggie's part. Wendy Phillips is just as good as Sullivan.
|by Anonymous||reply 13||10/10/2013|
This is by far the best opening of Falcon Crest
|by Anonymous||reply 14||10/10/2013|
R13 Actually she played Maggie's second cousin, Wendy is a fine actress, but Susan is a real deal in FC.
|by Anonymous||reply 15||10/10/2013|
Wendy was Susan's replacement on FC

Now that SVU is winding down, will Mariska Hargitay reprise her role as Carly Fixx?
|by Anonymous||reply 19||10/10/2013|
Weird, I had a huge crush to Lamas, but also to Susan Sullivan. When it was aired originally I was too young to watch it, but remember seeing the opening credits with Lamas' hairy chest. The same happened with Nader in Dynasty.
|by Anonymous||reply 20||10/10/2013|
On "The Big Valley," it was MISS Barbara Stanwyck. Why no similar respect for Ms. Wyman?
|by Anonymous||reply 21||10/10/2013|
Maybe they could just ignore the final season, so Maggie is still alive. The last season was such a disaster, anyway. If they shoot from March - July, Susan could do both. There was a double of Melissa that Ana-Alicia played for a few episodes, after the producers realized what a mistake they had made in killing her off.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||10/10/2013|
Was Chase's body ever found? He went over the side of the boat, but was he ever found?
|by Anonymous||reply 23||10/10/2013|
who says SVU is "winding down"? It's almost guaranteed for renewal.
|by Anonymous||reply 24||10/10/2013|
Ugh, r14. That's from the awful final season. Hardly any of the good people are in it.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||10/10/2013|
[quote] Was Chase's body ever found? He went over the side of the boat, but was he ever found?
He HATED doing the show. Every year they had a cliffhanger where his character was in peril. Because he was always threatening to quit the show. His contract actually expired at the end of season 5. But TPTB convinced him to return for one more year so they could write out his character properly. The sixth season they split up Chase and Maggie, and put Maggie with Richard.
[quote] On "The Big Valley," it was MISS Barbara Stanwyck. Why no similar respect for Ms. Wyman?
As long as she got top billing, she was fine with Starring Jane Wyman. Her top billing was in her contract.
|by Anonymous||reply 26||10/10/2013|
That last season of Dynasty without Krystle was pretty damn good, so they could to it without Linda.
Kristian Alfonso ruined the last 2 seasons of FC. They rebuilt the entire show around her awful character, Pilar. Alfonso had to have been fucking one of the producers.
|by Anonymous||reply 27||10/10/2013|
[quote] That last season of Dynasty without Krystle was pretty damn good, so they could to it without Linda.
They lured David Paulsen from Dallas to do a rejig on the final season of Dynasty. To shake things up.
[quote] Kristian Alfonso ruined the last 2 seasons of FC. They rebuilt the entire show around her awful character, Pilar.
The feeling was her DAYS popularity would translate into ratings.
[quote] Hardly any of the good people are in it.
The opening is good and Wendy Phillips is a superb actress.
|by Anonymous||reply 28||10/10/2013|
I hated that cunt Chaoh Li. Apparently Jane Wyman thought very fondly of him and left him a BIG bundle in her will!
|by Anonymous||reply 29||10/10/2013|
Oh, great, another stupid show old people will try to make themselves like.
|by Anonymous||reply 30||10/10/2013|
Why did Ann Alicia leave?
|by Anonymous||reply 31||10/10/2013|
So, is Lorenzo Lamas coming back.
I'm not aware of him doing anything else these days, so he should be available.
He's the only person who was on for the entire run of the series.
|by Anonymous||reply 32||10/10/2013|
This is the best news EVER!
|by Anonymous||reply 33||10/10/2013|
Joan and Linda would come back to a Dynasty reboot if it was a few episodes a season...but 13 episodes a year isn't for them. Joan is 80.
|by Anonymous||reply 34||10/10/2013|
Funny, I regularly tuned this show in, but never watched Dallas. I just didn't like any of the characters on Dallas (even Pam and Bobby, the most likeable, worked my nerves).
Both Dynasty and Falcon Crest were campy and fun.
|by Anonymous||reply 35||10/10/2013|
Maybe Kim Novak can make a cameo as Kit Marlowe? Too bad Lana is no longer with us...Jacqueline could return from the dead.
|by Anonymous||reply 36||10/10/2013|
For me, the Season 1 titles remain the most effective if only just for the extended Bill Conti score and Knot's Landing/Dallas style multiple insert graphics for each cast member...it's just feels better branded.
|by Anonymous||reply 37||10/10/2013|
[quote] Why did Ann Alicia leave?
The new producers felt her character ran its course and gave her the boot.
|by Anonymous||reply 38||10/10/2013|
Dynasty could work with just Linda or Joan.
Billy Campbell is still hot. They could have him come back as Luke's identical twin also gay brother who fucks anything that moves.
|by Anonymous||reply 39||10/10/2013|
Mariaks was on FC. I found this clip of her character singing Heat Wave.
|by Anonymous||reply 40||10/10/2013|
[quote] Dynasty could work
It is all up to the Shapiros
|by Anonymous||reply 41||10/10/2013|
Anne Archer was also on FC as a Maggie type character.
She quit in the middle of season 5.
|by Anonymous||reply 42||10/10/2013|
Wendy Phillips was better than Susan Sullivan
|by Anonymous||reply 43||10/13/2013|
Based on the last season of Dynasty, you don't need Linda Evans -- as long as you have both Joan Collins and Stephanie Beacham, who was the best thing ever to happen to that show in its later years. She and Joan are friends, too.
|by Anonymous||reply 44||10/13/2013|
Wendy Phillips is hugely FAT now. It was a shock to see her in that Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip show. And it doesn't matter how good she was, the final season stank, and the opening credits from that season are just a sad reminder of how bad it was,
|by Anonymous||reply 45||10/13/2013|
Loved Laura Johnson's snark as Terry. They could say Terry never died in the earthquake, that Richard had her spirited away so he could gain control of her fortune. She could be living somewhere with amnesia.
Hell these are soaps, any of them could come back and we'd buy it.
|by Anonymous||reply 46||10/13/2013|
[quote]Based on the last season of Dynasty, you don't need Linda Evans -- as long as you have both Joan Collins and Stephanie Beacham, who was the best thing ever to happen to that show in its later years. She and Joan are friends, too.
Not to mention Beacham is a better actress than Evans.
Also a plus is that the final episode had Beacham pregnant with Dex's baby which would make that child an adult now and perfect for casting along side LB, Kristina, Danny, etc...
Bring back Collins, Beacham, Gordon Thomson and have appearances by Oxenberg, Locklear...
Just no Kirby or Emma Samms/Fallon.
|by Anonymous||reply 47||10/13/2013|
Evans didn't really bring much to Dynasty. Except maybe shoulder pads. Joanie C doesn't need her to make Alexis work.
Lamas would, of course, return to Falcon. He's not doing much anyway.
As far as the rest of the cast goes, I'd love to see Selby come back. And Ana Alicia.
William Moses? Nice body but not much else.
|by Anonymous||reply 48||10/13/2013|
WHET William Moses' brother Rick who played Hutch, the hitman with a heart of gold, on General Hospital?
|by Anonymous||reply 49||10/13/2013|
Why not do a remake with Joan Collins as Angela?
|by Anonymous||reply 50||10/13/2013|
A FC reboot has to have Susan Sullivan, and especially Margaret Ladd as crazy Emma!
|by Anonymous||reply 51||10/13/2013|
That credit clip you posted, R18 was the REAL "Falcon Crest." Not that credit sequence from the last and least season. Even the hotness of Gregory Harrison couldn't salvage the shit sandwich that was the final season.
Maggie can always be brought back as having staged her death and Chase's death was left open ended in the event that Foxworth decided to return.
If they could find a way to bring back Terry and recapture her chemistry with Richard that would be wonderful! She was the best wife/partner in crime he ever had. The two of them were a riot! FC really screwed up when they let Laura Johnson go.
Likewise when they let Ana-Alicia go. That sucked some of the life out of the show. She could come back as Samantha or Melissa who had been masquerading as Samantha after her breakdown(LOVED that storyline, but not her dying).
The big problem---what to do without Jane Wyman? Her appearance on the last few eps of that final season made it FC again.
|by Anonymous||reply 52||10/13/2013|
When I was 10 I was obsessed with everything "Purple Rain" and Falcon Crest was my favorite show....can you imagine how my little gay brain exploded during THIS episode?!
|by Anonymous||reply 53||10/13/2013|
It's that Babylonia person.
|by Anonymous||reply 55||10/13/2013|
I can certainly see a Dynasty reboot being easier to pull off, than one of FC.
I gather Collins and Beecham actually are on good terms so that would solve a lot of problems. And Season 9 was one of the best seasons of the entire show.
R10 Linda may have invested well but perhaps could make the occasional visit for the right price. Didn't she make some cheesy infomercial for a face-lifting machine?
|by Anonymous||reply 56||10/14/2013|
R54 See R7
And Joan, your face has been rebooted one too many times already. No one wants to see it in HD.
|by Anonymous||reply 57||10/14/2013|
You need a new bitch for a FC reboot? I can play it! As long as no sex is involved.
|by Anonymous||reply 58||10/14/2013|
I don't see how an FC reboot would work withou Jane Wyman and Susan Sullivan. Would Kristian Alfonso be willing to come back and head up the project?
|by Anonymous||reply 59||10/14/2013|
I always thought Dallas v Dynasty should have a been a mini series with John Ross and Christopher in a love triangle with Krystina Carrington. Krystina would be about 29 now? The show could revolve around her, not Krystal. And there are tons of Carrington cousins, Little Blake, Danny, etc who can get in the mix. Didn't Fallon have a daughter while on the Colbys? Oh, and please NO Emma Samms this time. Pamela Sue Martin shows up at a ton of Dynasty fan events and she would definitely play Fallon.
|by Anonymous||reply 60||10/14/2013|
Well they are in talks with David Selby to head up the project. You can't do Richard, without his new wife Lauren (Wendy Phillips).
She was good, and I would say even better than Sullivan as the female lead. You can only do so much with crap material.
The last season of FC was produced by the team that created and produced 24
|by Anonymous||reply 61||10/14/2013|
R54 Have you ever considered a beauty surgery? It could get you starring role in FC.
|by Anonymous||reply 62||10/14/2013|
How do we get Susan Sullivan back?
|by Anonymous||reply 63||10/14/2013|
[quote] How do we get Susan Sullivan back?
The character is dead. Wendy Phillips replaced her.
Deal with it.
|by Anonymous||reply 64||10/14/2013|
R64 Sullivan is easy to write back. They just give her lines. Deal with it.
|by Anonymous||reply 65||10/14/2013|
Wendy Phillips replaced her as David Selby's new leading lady.
|by Anonymous||reply 66||10/14/2013|
R66 Then David will get back her first leading lady with Sullivan.
|by Anonymous||reply 67||10/14/2013|
[quote] David will get back her first leading lady with Sullivan.
But his first leading lady was Shannon Tweed.
|by Anonymous||reply 68||10/14/2013|
Lorenzo now looks like shit.
1 of his sons would be a better fit.
|by Anonymous||reply 69||10/14/2013|
One of his ex-wives would agree with you, R69.
|by Anonymous||reply 70||10/14/2013|
Pamela Sue Martin looks good at 60, but Susan Sullivan looks REALLY good at 70.
Jane Wyman isn't looking to great these days, though.
|by Anonymous||reply 71||10/14/2013|
Re a "Dynasty" reboot: Krystina should be a bitch. Much like St. Marlena on DOL, saintly Krystle birthed a trollop.
|by Anonymous||reply 72||10/14/2013|
The best looking nighttime soap diva is Donna Mills. Whoever did her surgery deserves an award.
And you don't know how it pains me to admit that.
|by Anonymous||reply 73||10/14/2013|
Face it....without Jane Wyman there IS no Falcon Crest. Not then. Not now.
|by Anonymous||reply 74||10/14/2013|
Oh, Con, how...sweet. But you don't have to worry about bad surgery, dear. You were never the attractive one anyway. I envy you, I truly do!

|by Anonymous||reply 77||10/14/2013|
I used to jerk off to Moses.
|by Anonymous||reply 78||10/14/2013|
OMG! Here it is!
The first 10 minutes of THE VINTAGE YEARS, the unaired Falcon Crest pilot that started it all. Fortunately the roles of Maggie and Chase were recast. This one is HORRIFIC!!!
|by Anonymous||reply 79||10/14/2013|
Battle of the Network Stars + William Moses + speedo + baby oil = semen.
|by Anonymous||reply 81||10/14/2013|
In addition to being too old, Jane Wyman is also too dead.
|by Anonymous||reply 83||10/14/2013|
I'll do it! I was hoping to take over the role after my story arc, but Jane wasn't ready to let it go. Oh, shit, I can't. I'm dead too.
|by Anonymous||reply 84||10/15/2013|
Fuck this being dead shit! Are you bitches ACTRESSES or not! I never let anything stop me!
|by Anonymous||reply 85||10/15/2013|
Interesting how Samantha Eggar has the same And Samantha Eggar as "Maggie" billing at the end that Susan Sullivan got. I wonder if she'd kept the role, if she would have done the "turnaround" or if that was Susan's own unique contribution?
|by Anonymous||reply 86||10/15/2013|
Wendy Phillips did a better head turn.
|by Anonymous||reply 87||10/15/2013|
Not sure a reboot works with Falcon Crest. The show has a lot less followers than Dallas so they would have to try harder finding brand new viewers. I am also not sure a show about the wine business can be done again. Even back then they had a hard time making it look interesting.
Maybe they should start with a 6 episode mini-series to test the waters and hopefully maintain the spirit of the original show.
|by Anonymous||reply 88||10/15/2013|
I agree with R88
Dallas has a brilliant premise and the blue-print of the show allows it to be generational.
With Dynasty and FC, less so. Evidenced by the fact that they had to constantly create new siblings (Adam, Amanda Dynasty) and male characters to be connected to the main family
On FC it was Richard Channing. Not an original cast member first he was the bastard child of Douglas Channing. Then he was Angela's son.
On FC they do have sibling/cousins next generation.
They have Michael Channing and Kevin Gioberti. Growing up as brothers, but are actually cousins.
You can set up the old Channing/Gioberti conflict. Both of them fighting for the land. With Richard as the patriarch overseeing everything.
|by Anonymous||reply 89||10/15/2013|
This will never happen for many reasons. FC doesn't have the brand recognition that Dallas has. The audience advertisers try to reach never heard of it. Selby and Moses are too old and aren't household names. I could go on and on.
|by Anonymous||reply 90||10/15/2013|
R79 It looks horrible. They surely did right, when casting new Chase and Maggie / Foxworth and Sullivan. Chase was played here by Clu Gulager? What? Perfect name for porn.
|by Anonymous||reply 91||10/15/2013|
R87 Where? Nobody does it better than Susan.
|by Anonymous||reply 92||10/15/2013|
Ok if you queens insist on Susan Sullivan maybe she can replace Wendy Phillips and play the new Lauren.
Richard and Lauren can be the head of the family, with Kevin Gioberti and Michael Channing battling each other for control of the land.
|by Anonymous||reply 93||10/15/2013|
Don't forget crazy, homicidal Julia.
|by Anonymous||reply 94||10/18/2013|
This scene between Wyman and Turner is beautifully staged. It's almost like watching "Gone with the Wind" in its sheer spectacle of characterisation:
*fade to black*
