Actually, it is a shame that Janet's last albums didn't sell at all and she went from one recording company to another, finally getting fired by all three.
Again, your cluelessness is highly embarrassing. All three? There were only two, doofus. After the multiplatinum-selling DAMITA JO, she had one last album left on her landmark Virgin Records contract. 20 YO, a platinum album, was that last album in that contract, and she left the company after that ON HER OWN ACCORD (no firing involved). She then went to Island Def Jam, and gave them a #1 album before bailing (again, on her own accord) because they were not giving her record the proper promotion.
I guess she just didn't keep up with the changes in style and music like Madonna
Well, if you mean she didn't blatantly rip people off for songs, or change a word or two in the lyrics to call a song her own, then I guess you're correct.
the same old bouncy music sung in that little girl voice until millions of those of us who once listened to her
Bitch, please. [italic]Once[/italic] listened to her? You know you still have two copies of the "janet." CD--one in your rinky-dink efficiency apartment and the other in your broke-down hoopty.
She had her day in the sun and has followed Sade, Anita, Jody and many other of her peers into "remember who" land.
Are you insane? Artists still not only sample Janet's music, but they also often cite her as one of their major influences. Various celebs are always Tweeting about her, and you can see her mark on pop music whenever one of these young pop tarts release new music or videos.
It's really a shame that she couldn't keep up with Madonna and create for 30+ years
As I said before, Janet is in the process of CREATING a new album overseas. She's been recording over the past several months. Her first album was released in 1982, so that would also be 30-plus years. But keep thinking otherwise if it helps you sleep at night.
