James Woods: 'I Don't Expect to Work Again' in Hollywood
James Woods: 'I Don't Expect to Work Again' in Hollywood
1:28 PM PDT 10/9/2013 by Paul Bond
The actor has been critical of Democrats and the president and presumes his political opinions will cost him jobs.
After repeatedly criticizing President Barack Obama, actor James Woods suggested in a tweet late Tuesday that his politics may cost him work in Hollywood.
Woods has been critical of Obama before but in the past few days seems particularly incensed at the president’s handling of the partial government shutdown. He tweeted, for example: “This President is a true abomination. To have barricaded the WW2 vets, but allow illegal aliens privilege...” The tweet linked to a USA Today article.
On other occasions, Woods retweeted photos, articles and more about the shutdown, the attack on the American embassy in Benghazi, Libya, problems with Obamacare and the growing national debt. When linking to a New York Times story about a plan to allow noncitizens to monitor polling places in California, he joked that “dead democrats can vote multilingually now.”
Last night a follower -- apparently noting the discrepancy between Hollywood’s famously progressive politics and the actor's hostility toward the president -- tweeted to Woods: “dude, aren’t u worried about...u know...ever working again??”
Woods responded: “I don’t expect to work again. I think Barack Obama is a threat to the integrity and future of the Republic. My country first.”
On Wednesday, Woods’ tweet became a cause celebre among conservatives, some tweeting that he was their new favorite actor, and Twitchy, a website run by conservative columnist Michelle Malkin, posted a collection of the tweets.

I hope this old bitch rots.
|by Anonymous||reply 2||10/09/2013|
Woods is a dumb POS that believes everything Faux News tells him.
|by Anonymous||reply 4||10/09/2013|
Ugh, he's playing the victim early to re-invent himself as someone who can get on a lecture circuit for wingnuts.
|by Anonymous||reply 5||10/09/2013|
Oh please, this douchebag has always been a goddamn douchebag and his politics have always been pure right wing fuckery. He still got hired - FOR DECADES - in Hollywood.
Whining, blaming, spoiled, raging, ignorant, unable to take responsibility for himself and the demise of his career, he's just a douchebag with (ugly) legs.
It's a pity that crazy-ass Sean Young didn't take him out when she had the chance.
|by Anonymous||reply 6||10/09/2013|
This bitch is also an Ayn Rand disciple.
|by Anonymous||reply 7||10/09/2013|
Yes, R9, James has a brilliant mind and bores easily without a great deal of intellectual stimulation.
|by Anonymous||reply 10||10/09/2013|
I've heard he's a genius for years yet I've never heard him say anything remotely intelligent. Weird.
|by Anonymous||reply 11||10/09/2013|
He just had a plum role on Ray Donovan. He's working.
|by Anonymous||reply 12||10/09/2013|
What brings on this whining? He works. Other conservative actors work.
|by Anonymous||reply 14||10/09/2013|
He's obviously taking the Donald Trump route. If people stop paying attention to you and/or you become irrelevant turn yourself into a rabid conservative.
|by Anonymous||reply 15||10/09/2013|
He's old and ugly and a skank. Good excuse, James!
|by Anonymous||reply 17||10/09/2013|
Maybe Patricia Heaton can get him a guest starring role on "The Middle." They can sit around during breaks and complain to each other about all those bad "libtards" giving them a hard time in Hollywood.
|by Anonymous||reply 18||10/09/2013|
Ted Cruz is also brilliant in terms of education, but then, so was Ted Kazinsky.
There are lots of people who are very book smart, they just also happen to be sociopaths.
|by Anonymous||reply 19||10/09/2013|
He dropped out of MIT and he's the main source for his perfect SAT scores and 180 IQ. He works that into every interview.
|by Anonymous||reply 21||10/09/2013|
You're too old for him, Paris.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||10/09/2013|
I don't believe that he has a genius IQ or a college degree. If I recall correctly, his much publicized "genius" is because he had some killer SAT scores and, perhaps, was accepted at M.I.T. - where he either never graduated or never even attended.
Bottom line - he's smarter than Sharon Stone but is just as much of a Hollywood fucktard with a grossly exaggerated sense of his own intelligence.
|by Anonymous||reply 23||10/09/2013|
He used to run around with a camera taking pictures of photographers taking pictures of him. It was amusing for him.
|by Anonymous||reply 24||10/09/2013|
The MIT thing he keeps harping about is embarassing. Geez...he got in but didn't graduate. Who cares. Loser!
|by Anonymous||reply 25||10/09/2013|
James Woods has a genius I.Q. and has a degree in engineering, or physics, or something of that order.
|by Anonymous||reply 26||10/09/2013|
I like this thread better.
|by Anonymous||reply 27||10/09/2013|
He invented Post-its, you know.
|by Anonymous||reply 28||10/09/2013|
It's just like what happened to me!
|by Anonymous||reply 29||10/09/2013|
Does he really have a 184 IQ? It's been stated a couple of times (& once by himself during a poker tournament with Johnny "Chan the man" Chan), but sometimes actors make these things up. Like when Sharon Stone claimed to have a 163 IQ, and to be a member of MENSA. MENSA later issued a statement saying that she was never a member (and that was the end of her public chess spectacles in restaurants - which really was as much a demand for attention as it was a nuisance).
|by Anonymous||reply 30||10/09/2013|
I remember an interview with Jodie Foster years ago where she said he was the smartest man she ever met.
|by Anonymous||reply 31||10/09/2013|
Wish I didn't like his acting so much, as in every other he seems horrible.
|by Anonymous||reply 32||10/09/2013|
I saw him in person and was surprised at how small and thin he is. But, I have to admit I respect him as an actor, ever since I first saw him in the tv mini-series, "Holocaust". Also have to admit I found him very sexy, indeed. But, my taste is not popular in the gay community, as I also feel Sean Penn is sexy.
|by Anonymous||reply 33||10/09/2013|
I know lots of MIT graduates from the sixties. And they had a great time and they GRADUATED. Never heard of an MIT dropout until Woods.
He's not that smart. My guess is he couldn't cut it even with MIT's liberally famous pass/fail system.
|by Anonymous||reply 34||10/09/2013|
You have terrible taste, R33.
|by Anonymous||reply 35||10/09/2013|
Wasn't he on a flight a week before 9/11 and told authorities he was suspicious of a particular passenger who turned out to be Mohammed Atta?
|by Anonymous||reply 36||10/09/2013|
So did he get Ray Donovan because of Voight?
|by Anonymous||reply 37||10/09/2013|
Jodie should get out more.
His insane politics aside, Woods always struck me as very Lady Catherine de Bourgh -
There are few people in England, I suppose, who have more true enjoyment of music than myself, or a better natural taste. If I had ever learnt, I should have been a great proficient.
|by Anonymous||reply 38||10/09/2013|
Repulsive piece of shit. No one will miss this fool.
|by Anonymous||reply 40||10/09/2013|
Wasn't he on a flight a week before 9/11 and told authorities he was suspicious of a particular passenger who turned out to be Mohammed Atta?
Oh for fuck sake. And you believe this shit?
|by Anonymous||reply 41||10/09/2013|
I had the unfortunate ordeal of seeing him and his youngster in Ralph's on Third and La Brea.
Grandpa Woods and his young thing were tweekng on something, roving up and down the aisles slobbering all over each other and groping each other like two high-schoolers under the bleachers.
It's gross enough to have anyone doing that in the supermarket, but seeing the Crypt-keeper itself... Blech.
|by Anonymous||reply 42||10/09/2013|
R14 is so right. They just both worked in " Ray Donovan" - Voight (who's kept working continuously, even while he complains of being 'blackballed', for being conservative) all season and Woods, in the last few episodes.
|by Anonymous||reply 43||10/09/2013|
slobbering all over each other and groping each other like two high-schoolers under the bleachers.
I wouldn't have had the stomach to even continue shopping for food if I witnessed that. I'd leave.
|by Anonymous||reply 44||10/09/2013|
You should hear him cipher.
|by Anonymous||reply 45||10/09/2013|
That'll do pig. That'll do.
|by Anonymous||reply 46||10/09/2013|
R21 - Yes - the genius crap is all from him. He also majored in political science at MIT - not a hard science or engineering.
THAT's what MIT is known for - not its liberal arts programs.
Just because you talk fast doesn't make you a genius.
I call bullshit.
|by Anonymous||reply 47||10/09/2013|
Good actor, banal fucktard.
More often hand-in-hand than not.
Actors are better onstage.
|by Anonymous||reply 49||10/09/2013|
He must be a good actor bc dear christ is he hard to look at. He tried to get his face de-pineappled and it just looks weirder now.
|by Anonymous||reply 50||10/09/2013|
He and Sharon were great playing a couple in "Casino".
|by Anonymous||reply 51||10/09/2013|
What a fucking moron.
Anyone blaming Obama for closing the WW2 memorial is a fucking ignorant asshole.
Family Guy killed off his character.
I hope the moron never works again.
|by Anonymous||reply 52||10/09/2013|
He will always have work donating "swimmers" to Jodie Foster. Boys, if you're listening, I'm sorry you had to find out this way.
|by Anonymous||reply 53||10/09/2013|
This is the same actor who called George Bush his hero and Rudy Giuliani an American hero.
|by Anonymous||reply 54||10/10/2013|
Decent actor. Terrible person.
|by Anonymous||reply 55||10/10/2013|
With that huge cock between his thighs, he could always do porn.
|by Anonymous||reply 56||10/10/2013|
Well, the male lead in Fifty Shades of Grey is now again available.
Go for it Jimmy!
|by Anonymous||reply 57||10/12/2013|
Well, the male lead in Fifty Shades of Grey is now again available.
What happened to Charlie Human?
|by Anonymous||reply 59||10/12/2013|
No, R58, this bears no resemblance to your scenario.
For Woods to claim he never expects to work in Hollywood again when he's working NOW and has worked consistently for decades, is more akin to the hysterical "sky is falling" bullshit you referenced.
Face it, R58, he's a cunt.
|by Anonymous||reply 60||10/12/2013|
I love the smell of freeper meltdowns in the morning!
|by Anonymous||reply 61||10/12/2013|
The fact that he was dating shady youngstuff and has a face like The Sea Of Tranquility doesn't have to do anything with it either. He should joing an "Angry Has-Been White Man" comedy team with Dennis Miller and Rob Schneider.
|by Anonymous||reply 62||10/12/2013|
Lots of Republicans work in Hollywood.
Get over it, Asshole.
|by Anonymous||reply 63||10/12/2013|
Lots of Republicans work in Hollywood.
And they can't even act
|by Anonymous||reply 64||10/12/2013|
He used to win emmys for Best Actor, but his last series didn't win him anything. Wonder if Kelsey Grammer explained the reason to him.
|by Anonymous||reply 66||10/13/2013|
Bruce Willis is a Republican. That awful Heaton woman is a Republican.
|by Anonymous||reply 67||10/13/2013|
I hate his guts and I hope he never works again. He's disgusting in every way.
|by Anonymous||reply 68||10/13/2013|
Fair enough, R60; I don't have a dog in this fight either way. It has been presumed more than once, however, that a degree of blacklisting does go on once a person starts denouncing people on the left. I remember Kevin Aucoin (God rest his soul) stating that he would never dress or make up a Republican-- something folks on the left never have to worry about. I'm a pretty liberal person but even I can notice the bias.
|by Anonymous||reply 69||10/13/2013|
It sounds like a preemptive strike. He says something like that to guarantee he'll be hired again so people won't be accused of political bias.
To the person who saw him at Ralphs, for God's sake, video it on your cell and sell it to TMZ. You'll get a check and humiliate him as well. Win/Win/Win as Woods also gets some publicity.
|by Anonymous||reply 70||10/13/2013|
Why do conservatives believe things that are so obviously untrue?
|by Anonymous||reply 72||10/13/2013|
He's too old and disgusting to work again. Everyone wants a puppy, no one wants a dog, right James?
|by Anonymous||reply 73||10/13/2013|
When people like Woods don't get work, it's always the fault of something else or someone else, never their own fault.
To paraphrase Shakespeare: the fault is in ourselves, not the stars/others.
|by Anonymous||reply 74||10/13/2013|
Shit, that motherfucker could accuse me of anything...I would never want to see his ugly mug again and I certainly would not hire him.
|by Anonymous||reply 75||10/13/2013|
With that huge cock between his thighs, he could always do porn
Urban myth. He did a frontal in one of his first films, "The onion Field" and no one's head turned.
|by Anonymous||reply 76||10/13/2013|
He's lucky he got work at all considering how physically-repulsive he is.
|by Anonymous||reply 77||10/13/2013|
Nice to see Kevin Aucoin's name coming up on the DL. I can't believe he is dead some 11 years now.
Kevin is in the "Will and Grace" episode where Cher confronts Jack about his Cher obsession. Kevin is sitting in the booth, talking to another man, before Cher sits in it for a brief second. Kevin was Cher's makeup man.
On topic....fuck James Woods.
|by Anonymous||reply 78||10/13/2013|
Somebody call him a waaaaaambulance.
|by Anonymous||reply 80||10/13/2013|
he doesn't have much of a career. And he really crapped all over the agencies in a very public rant some years ago, about why he was going with an agency that was less well known and "smaller." LOL!
He spins everything to either make himself look like a victim, or to ennoble himself or both. He is a crazy, perverse, POS asshole. No one likes him, that's why he doesn't work.
John Voigt is also a reactionary, racist POS who hates Obama, and he works. Of course he seems to have toned down his rants, but Voigt hasn't really changed.
|by Anonymous||reply 81||10/13/2013|
Voight once campaigned for McGovern for President.
Saw him once at our college. In mid-speech he'd take extra long pauses. He didn't make much sense to me. What had my attention was a young student who was standing just a few feet away from him and stared and stared. Voight didn't react to him. It went on for the duration of his speech.
Voight also supported Brando's act of sending a Filipina/German actress, using the name, Sacheen Littlefeather, and dressed in an "Indian" outfit, to refuse his oscar as Best Actor, for "The Godfather".
|by Anonymous||reply 82||11/10/2013|
Voight is a racist. He had huge problems with Angelina adopting Z, Pax and Maddox, but especially Z, the little girl from Ethiopia. He said so publically often enough that for a while Angie banned him from being around the kids. he said some rotten shit after Shiloh was born about her being their "real" daughter. He went around the bend to the Right when Obama got elected. He's garbage.
|by Anonymous||reply 83||11/10/2013|
I remember when I was a kid hearing Voight, then a leftie who was dating Waldo Salt's daughter, talking about dropping in at the Chicago Seven trial and being intimidated by an armed cop for not sitting rapt at attention. Even then, he was a whiny bitch.
|by Anonymous||reply 84||11/10/2013|
Oh brother! These Hollywood Republicans are such whiny little paranoid victims, all of them! Using their political stripe to throw the first punch, and then accusing the "industry" of bullying them, and denying them work, pre-emptively of course! All Republicans are such backwards children at heart, aren't they?
|by Anonymous||reply 85||11/11/2013|
