Cher's "Dressed to Kill"

It seems that the public and the critics are in unison in calling it one of the best songs she's ever done. Cher says it's one of her favorite songs ever, and dubs it the reason she's going back on tour - she wants to perform it live.

She calls it a drag queen anthem which is ironic since singer-songwriter, Preston who wrote and performed it, is anything but. He was actually a Celebrity Big Brother UK contestant. He's going to be rolling in dough now thanks to the royalty checks.

Anyway, your thoughts on the song? Some are pissed that she used so much vocoder. Her vocals are strong enough without it, but she still did a stellar job. They remade it into an Eraser meets Abba track. Her vocals are deep enough to fit Preston's vocal styling actually. She could have just taken his vocals out and placed hers in. No key change would have been necessary. I wonder if she even knows who he is. She didn't even realize she was covering a Miley Cyrus song.

Anyway, Cher's new album is her highest charting solo album ever in the US to date. She's riding the wave again it seems. Good for her. Too bad they chose "Woman's World" as the lead single.

Bar song...made for gay bars.

Not good.

Sounds like the same old shit to me, only worse: dated and voicoded to the point that gargling under water would sound clearer.

She should be prohibited from recording anything else if she thinks this is a "best" anything.

Just dreadful.
