Computer backup

I know I'm really dumb but help....it keeps saying I don't have enough backup. I don't real store much stuff. Where do I go to delete things. What else should I do?

by Anonymousreply 1910/06/2013

Get an external hard drive for $90. amazon.com, 500 or 750 gig.

by Anonymousreply 110/05/2013

I don't even understand why so much stuff is being saved.

by Anonymousreply 210/05/2013

Download CCleaner. You'd be surprised how much garbage it will clear from your cache.

by Anonymousreply 310/05/2013

OP, you sound like a fucking idiot.

by Anonymousreply 410/05/2013

^ "Pot,kettle,black..." Ignore her,OP.

I did what r3 said (thanks BTW) but when I run norton it still says at risk not enough backup space. What happens if I turn the backup off in Norton.

by Anonymousreply 610/05/2013

If you're suddenly low on space and you don't actually save much, then you might have picked up some sort of malware somewhere. What is your hard drive capacity?

You can find out by clicking the START button, then clicking on Computer, and telling me what your Hard Disk Drive readout says.

Also, you may want to clear some of your older backups off disk but you will need to consult your Norton software for information on how to do that.

I would not turn off the backup altogether.

Delete all your porn.

The NSA is watching you.

by Anonymousreply 910/05/2013

My drives say

OS: 394 GB free of 453 GB

HP Recovery: 1.4 GB free of 11.8 GB

by Anonymousreply 1010/05/2013

You should have PLENTY of disk space available, OP.

Are you sure the Norton alert is genuine?

by Anonymousreply 1110/05/2013

Clear your recycle bin as well, it takes up space to store that. Have you updated your virus definition files in Norton? Did you recently purchase and install a different virus/malware package without removing the previous one? In other words did you previously use McAfee and then installed Norton without uninstalling McAfee etc?

by Anonymousreply 1210/05/2013

I don't know r11. When I hit norton it scans and then comes back with the report with the 4 categories and Backup says "at risk"

by Anonymousreply 1310/05/2013

Okay. Thanks.

Does it specifically say that you don't have enough space? The reason I ask is because it might say you're at risk solely because you haven't performed a back up in awhile.

by Anonymousreply 1410/05/2013

You in danger, girl!

by Anonymousreply 1510/05/2013

It says "there is not enough space in your backup destination." Then a page comes up where I can buy more backup.

by Anonymousreply 1610/06/2013

That's fake, delete it

by Anonymousreply 1710/06/2013

Sounds like a scam. Go to CNet.com and download a fresh copy of malwarebytes anti-malware. It is a free program. Put the icon on your desktop for easy reference. You have malware.
