Benedict Cumberbatch is Empire Magazine's Sexiest Male Star

Here's where some DL favorites ranked:

#2 - Tom Hiddleston

#3 - Henry Cavill

#8 - Michael Fassbender

#14- Zachary Quinto

#18 - Richard Armitage

#32 - Lee Pace

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 5810/04/2013

Michael Fassbender belongs on the top of the list. Benedict is a troll.

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 110/02/2013

My friend calls Benedict Cumberbatch "fetus face." She's right, really. There's something about his face that is totally unformed.

His chin, maybe?

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 210/02/2013

He's hideous. How does this nonsense happen?

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 310/02/2013

R3, might be publicist pushed for. I don't get it either. He's just not sexy. Ok, maybe for some but not for most, surely.

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 410/02/2013

He's a hit with fraus and frau-ish fangirls, r3. They call themselves "Cumberbitches." But I agree, he's hideous.

And gangly Tom Hiddleston at #2? Definitely a fangirl vote.

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 510/02/2013

Well, there's definitely someone for everyone's taste on that list, since it covers every single Hollywood actor under the age of 70.

I did notice that unless I missed it, Matt Damon wasn't among the top 50, which seems unfair when Tom Cruise (Tom Cruise!) is at 46.

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 610/02/2013

He is so fucking ugly!

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 710/02/2013

He's a great actor.

I don't find him sexy at all.

But if others do, great.

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 810/02/2013

Handsome men on the list, but top 10 would be different, if I had to choose.

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 910/02/2013

Is Empire the official magazine for the blind community?

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 1010/02/2013

I like him.

I wish he'd stop putting his foot in his mouth in interviews.

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 1110/02/2013

He's got that ugly/handsome thing going on, and why didn't he change his weird name?

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 1210/02/2013

[quote]Michael Fassbender belongs on the top of the list. Benedict is a troll.

Yet, Fassbender is as sexy as hell! Didn't you see him in "Shame"?

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 1310/02/2013

Benedict is great in the new Star Trek film.

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 1410/02/2013

Is Empire magazine a freebie only available in Montgomery County, in Upstate New York? It's the only reason Cumbersnatch could even qualify.

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 1510/02/2013

There's a difference between sexy and handsome. Some who are sexy aren't necessarily handsome and some who are handsome aren't sexy. And some are blessed with being both.

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 1610/02/2013

And Bandersnatch is blessed with neither. He's really laide-laide, as the French might say.

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 1710/02/2013

R17, as someone who thinks he looks like that alien from Close Encounters, even I have to admit the guy is kind of sexy; I think it's his voice.

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 1810/02/2013

I think the attraction to Cumberbatch and Hiddleston must be largely based on their characters, because otherwise their looks are very average IMO. I've never watched Sherlock, but I'll admit the Loki character is very sexy.

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 1910/02/2013

You're welcome, all!

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 2010/02/2013

Yeah, his voice is a big part of his sexiness. And his Asperger personality as Sherlock.

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 2110/02/2013

He's got a characterful face, not a handsome one.

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 2210/02/2013

I don't understand how anyone thinks Loki is sexy with that horrible long, dark, dyed hair. Hiddleston is so fair, it just makes him look washed out. Not to mention he's only average attractive in his normal state.

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 2310/02/2013

I am surprised there is no Matt Damon, it isn't as though he hasn't had films out this year. Then again Elysium wasn't exactly a hit so maybe he has passed his sell-by date.

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 2410/02/2013

[R12] He was going to change it to the name his father uses, but someone told him his name is so strange, it would draw attention, and he should keep it. So he did. They were right. I'm sure he couldn't care less that people make fun of it as he's gotten that his whole life, I imagine, and I heard him on a talk show giving the versions he's heard of his name.

He doesn't understand the sexy thing or the handsome thing at all, from what I've read.

I love him, I don't care what anyone says.

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 2510/02/2013

Ew. I'm glad I have no idea what the fuss is about with this guy. He's one of the ugliest actors that Hollywood has tried to foist on the public.

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 2710/02/2013

Benedict Cumberbatch is probably the greatest actor since Russell Crowe.

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 2810/02/2013

And the scariest since Marty Feldman!

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 2910/02/2013

[quote] Some who are sexy aren't necessarily handsome and some who are handsome aren't sexy. And some are blessed with being both.

Damn straight!

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 3010/02/2013

#1 - Benedict Cumberbatch: fugly

#2 - Tom Hiddleston: spindly, wispy

#3 - Henry Cavill: steroid-ballooned

#8 - Michael Fassbender: big-dicked but fugly

#14- Zachary Quinto: weird-looking

#18 - Richard Armitage: genuinely handsome, but middle-aged

#32 - Lee Pace: weird eyebrows

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 3110/02/2013

Should have been #1.

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 3210/02/2013

#2

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 3310/02/2013

R31 = Joe Manganiello

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 3410/02/2013

#3

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 3510/02/2013

How was this fine ass not number one?

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 3610/02/2013

Someone needs to teach R33/R35 how to count.

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 3710/02/2013

I think Benedict is hot but not as hot as most of the guys he beat out. I definitely would put him ahead Quinto who should have been at least 114.

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 3810/02/2013

Joe Maganiello would have made the list but his shooting schedule for True Blood prevented him from campaigning for it.

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 3910/02/2013

[quote]He's got that ugly/handsome thing going on, and why didn't he change his weird name?

It gets him noticed and is (apparently) part of his appeal

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 4010/02/2013

In all seriousness, why isn't Joe Maganiello even on the list?

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 4110/02/2013

R41, probably because he's dropped under the radar. He hasn't really done much of anything lately and doesn't seem to have any projects lined up. Despite his best efforts, the media hype surrounding him has died down. Also, I think his fucked up personality isn't doing him any favors.

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 4210/02/2013

Rankings for other DL faves:

Ryan Gosling = #4

Robert Pattinson = #7

Bradley Cooper = #10

Jeremy Renner = #21

Gerard Butler = #22

Channing Tatum = #23

Jake Gyllenhaal = #35

Andrew Garfield = #36

Jensen Ackles = #39

James Franco = #42

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 4310/02/2013

It states *movie* stars. What movies has Jensen Ackles been in?

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 4410/03/2013

Like most actors on the CW, Jensen starred in a horror movie, Be My Bloody Valentine.

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 4510/03/2013

R31 = Matt Bomer's "frau of today"

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 4610/03/2013

[quote]Should have been #1.

Not with his ugly tats.

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 4710/03/2013

[quote]Joe Maganiello would have made the list but his shooting schedule for True Blood prevented him from campaigning for it.

Oh, I see.

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 4810/03/2013

Do the crazed internet fangirls of #s 1 and 2 on this list in any way translate into any sort of general box office clout? I remain unconvinced.

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 4910/03/2013

That sort of thing is hard to measure in any tangible way, r49, but both Cumberbatch and Hiddleston have huge and devoted online fanbases and significant social media "play", which does translate into great buzz and publicity for their projects.

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 5010/03/2013

Joe Manganiello isn't on the list because the list was largely voted on by women, and Joe markets himself in a way that appears designed to appeal to gay men. The constant emphasis on vacuous body narcissism and ubermasculinity is reminiscent of Colt or '90s Falcon. In fact, a recent EW Bullseye had a picture of shirtless Joe and recommended he star in the upcoming Tom of Finland movie.

Fangurls don't mind men with great bodies, but a sauntering shirtless male primadonna is not the stuff of their fantasies.

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 5210/03/2013

HAHAHA

ITS A JOKE!

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 5310/03/2013

Jamie Lannister #49????? Fuck you, world.

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 5410/03/2013

Tolkien actors:

1-Benedict Cumberbatch

18-Richard Armitage

28-Orlando Bloom

32-Lee Pace

34-Karl Urban

37-Aidan Turner

38-Martin Freeman

44-Viggo Mortensen

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 5510/03/2013

Da ya think I'm sexy?

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 5610/04/2013

But he's got ferret face, with those pinched features and thin lips.

by Simon Halls's Soap in a Sockreply 5710/04/2013

Relax people, it was based on fangirls votes, so if any of your fave actors are on this stupid list it is very good.
