It freaks me out when kids post their purity rings and thank their parents

Should sex really be that intertwined with their parents?

And by 'kids', I mean teenagers and above.

How about those Father and Daughter "Purity Balls"? Cah-reepy! These people give new meaning to "perversity".

by Anonymous reply 109/25/2013

I don't know of those balls.

Now I'm thoroughly depressed.

by Anonymous reply 209/25/2013

It is creeoy, because incest is very common in fundamentalist housholds, regardless of what the relgion is (christian, muslim, hindu, etc.)

by Anonymous reply 309/25/2013

It's gross OP.

I know, tell me about it! Those can really fuck you up.

by Anonymous reply 509/25/2013

The Daily Mail had a real creepy feature on this some time ago. It's like an Americana version of 'The Wicker Man'.

[quote]Should sex really be that intertwined with their parents?

Don't judge.

by Anonymous reply 709/25/2013

I should have killed myself the day he put it in me.

by Anonymous reply 809/25/2013

Does anyone remember that X-file episode called 'Home'? That family was also very much into maintaining 'purity'.

by Anonymous reply 909/25/2013

Those purity balls are disgusting. Seriously. Having a party/dance with your dad based on holding off on sexual relations? Isn't anything private anymore?

by Anonymous reply 1009/25/2013

Purity balls = incest-fests

by Anonymous reply 1109/25/2013

I watched this documentary not too long ago. The dad who organizes the ball is uber-creepy.

by Anonymous reply 1209/25/2013

It's really gross. Why they don't see it as gross? Probably because they are damn stupid.

by Anonymous reply 1309/25/2013

I think the mothers and sons should hold "purity baths" where they get into a hot-tub together naked.

by Anonymous reply 1409/25/2013

R6 That is creepy! Those pictures with the cross *are* just like The Wicker Man in the American Heartland! Lol. Shudder!

by Anonymous reply 1509/25/2013

[quote]According to the film, 25per cent of Americans are Evangelical Christians

Oh, bull-fucking-shit! I refuse to believe that.

Maybe in the South, but overall? No fuckin' way.

by Anonymous reply 1609/25/2013

Didn't Joe Simpson do this with Jessica Simpson?

That shit backfired big time.

by Anonymous reply 1709/26/2013

Yep, R3, and the reason the fathers insist on "purity" is because they want the daughters to themselves.

by Anonymous reply 1809/26/2013

Well, R16, according to a Pew study, 26% of Americans identify as Evangelical. Which explains a lot, and is the biggest reason why we need to tax churches. The amount of utter bullshit that these people -- all religious people -- pump into our daily lives is damaging to our collective psyche, the well-being of our nation, and frankly, a threat to our lives and the well-being of the world. We should tax all religions heavily and use that money to fund education because the greatest antidote to fantasy is, in fact, reality.

by Anonymous reply 1909/26/2013

Very creepy and the pic of the guy in uniform is scary. I'm not sure I'm comfortable with a fundie being in the military.

by Anonymous reply 2009/26/2013

You should be concerned about religion in the US armed forces, R20. The fundies have quietly gone about making the military an Xtian institution, and there are some real problems with proselytizing. Recruits are being forced to convert and go to church. Non-believers are discriminated against. And non-Xtians in particular are really hated.

We'll never learn, and we'll never progress past being slightly evolved mammals if the religionists have anything to say about it. It confounds me that in the 21st century, we still cling to pagan beliefs, un-enlightened ideology, and fantastical folderol. We're doomed to repeating the same mistakes over and over so long as religion remains the force that it is today.

by Anonymous reply 2109/26/2013

I think of my purity ring as my throat sphincter; tonsil play is ok but there has to be real mutual commitment to take it further.

by Anonymous reply 2209/26/2013

R18. Exactly. Where are the Purity Balls for the sons? Maybe because the mothers are not incestuous wanna-be rapists like these fundie men are.

by Anonymous reply 2309/26/2013

I wish there was a way to ban these things. The fathers/parents seem like pedophiles and into incest. So creepy. Any parent that is too involved in their children's virginity status/sex life is a creep.
