DL icon JENNIFER LAWRENCE to star in epic two-film "East of Eden"!

No, she is not playing the Julie Harris role! She is playing the Jo Van Fleet role!

Who would you like to see in the iconic James Dean role?

by Anonymousreply 1809/26/2013

Either the revitalized Hayden Christensen or Justin Bieber. Nah, make that Louis Tomlinson of One Direction.

by Anonymousreply 109/25/2013

Well, the Jo van Fleet role is the much better role--she's basically playing evil incarnate. Van Fleet won an Oscar for that film; Harris did not.

Jane Seymour played the Cathy role in the 80s miniseries. I'd love to see Jennifer play a dark character.

Why do I feel JL lacks facial mobility? Is it injections or something?

by Anonymousreply 409/25/2013

$100 says Lawrence has never read the book or seen the movie.

by Anonymousreply 509/25/2013

Thank god they didn't hire Kristen Stewart.

by Anonymousreply 609/25/2013

Kristen will be playing a very important part. She will play one of the spoiled cabbages rotting in a railway freight car.

by Anonymousreply 709/25/2013

She's not a very good actress. Her face was much more interesting when she was younger, before the nose job.

Just recently watched the mini-series with Jane Seymour. She was fantastic, really surprised me. Never knew she could play evil so well

by Anonymousreply 909/25/2013

Crap. I love Steinbeck. I've read the novel. Jennifer Lawrence is the worst possible choice for that role. The two part mini series on TV did a better job of adhering to the storyline of the novel. That book is a tour de force, a masterpiece. People should read the book. It is awesome.

by Anonymousreply 1009/25/2013

YES Jane Seymour was wonderful in the mini-series! Jane seems to play evil really well. Watch her in "Frankenstein The True Story" She is amazing.

R9 that's the version with the delicious Hart Bochner. There's no need for another version, especially with Jennifer Lawrence.

Timberlake

Someone in their early 20's.

by Anonymousreply 1409/25/2013

DL fave James Franco owns this role!

by Anonymousreply 1509/25/2013

R14, someone in his early 20's.

First off, it's someONE. Second, we know the gender.

by Anonymousreply 1609/25/2013

Although I greatly enjoyed the book and earlier film... I have to say that Cathy is a badly written character. She's supposed to be the personification of evil, but apparently Steinbeck didn't really understand evil because all he has her do is fuck around. What she really represents is a male author's fear of female sexuality.

The book manages to be good in spite of her, but I can't say a film will be. And I doubt that Lawrence is the kind of actress who can overcome weak material.

As I recall, we only see Cathy through Adam's eyes.
