It's sad that what happens to the people in these shows has become predictable. Every season the edits portrays someone as the mean bitchy "housewife" and someone else as the saint. As with anything in this social media age, everyone has an opinion and now also a forum to express it. Most of the audience is swayed by the edit and starts pouring their love on the saint and their hate on the bitch. The saint starts believing the myth which is reinforced by all the anonymous love professed on blogs and Facebook and message board. If so many people say you are awesome, it must be true!
The next season they feel empowered by their belief in the myth and start letting down their guards, and not only do they show us another side, but also go way overboard. The editors are only too happy to join the ride and start showing us everything they can in the underbelly. Not many can survive.
Jill from NYC for example, believed it so much, in one of those Watch What's Happening she told a caller to call HER for some information about the show instead of Andy who was right there interviewing her. Andy was none too pleased. She even came back for an interview AFTER she was fired claiming she was important because she had so many twitter followers.
The more professional ones learned or know how to start controlling their image. After a few seasons they realize that everything can be on the show. Kyle learned the hard way after the melt down with Kim in the limo. She is very guarded this year. People call her a bitch still, but if you look carefully it's not anything she has done, but what the audience think is really behind what she does or says. By the way, that Jeep commercial? Shivers….
Lisa is also a professional and everything that comes out of her mouth or is portrayed, is very calculated.
Betheny really knew what she was doing every inch of the way. She had an agenda and she focused on it. Jill must be having a hard time with Bethenny's new talk show. Remember how Jill thought she could give advice about love, family and friends? She really believed the myth!
Now Brandi is spiraling into the same sink hole. She got so much praise for saying it like it is, and being bluntly honest, she doesn't know when to stop. Lisa is quickly realizing that she needs to put the breaks on this friendship, as will/does Yolanda. Brandi doesn't realize that the more face time she gets, the more hate will follow.
I don't get the love for Kim either. She has not become a wise old soul. She is still pretty dumb and uneducated (unrelated attributes in her case). But it was touching to see graduation. I understand her and Kyle's deep need to see their kids educated.
This is what happens when you visit a sick friend who records the show! I didn't watch since the beginning of the season, and now I have opinions!
