Are grape tomatoes okay to substitute for cherry tomatoes?

by Anonymousreply 3509/22/2013

Sure, but they are a third the size so use three times as many! Even throw in a few extra. Bam!

by Anonymousreply 109/22/2013

What is the dish?

Grape tomatoes have a higher sugar content than cherry and this time of year will be especially sweet.

In a salad yes.

by Anonymousreply 209/22/2013

Not if you're a size queen.

by Anonymousreply 309/22/2013

Grape tomatoes have about 30% grape in them, whereas cherry tomatoes have only about 20% cherry. So if you are allergic to either, keep this in mind.

by Anonymousreply 409/22/2013

Yes, but never after Labor Day.

by Anonymousreply 509/22/2013

Yes, and you can tell your guests that the cherries are long gone.

Here's what R5 says about the poor:

[quote]Actually, many of us ARE better than these parasites.

by Anonymousreply 709/22/2013

Get a life, R7 Trolldar-Troll! What a loser!

by Anonymousreply 809/22/2013

It's people like R7 who ruin these forums.

by Anonymousreply 909/22/2013

R9, no, it's awful, elderly racists like R5 who do.

by Anonymousreply 1009/22/2013

Why, R9? R5 R8 said that, just last night.

by Anonymousreply 1109/22/2013

R5 R9's latest spooge:

[quote]Maybe the poor people deserve a little punishing instead of the coddling they've been receiving since the 1950s.

by Anonymousreply 1209/22/2013

R12, don't stop. We love to see a trolldar fool turn his insides out for the world to see.

by Anonymousreply 1309/22/2013

What does any of this have to do with my tomatoes?

by Anonymousreply 1409/22/2013

With apologies to R9, here's R5 R8's latest spooge:

[quote]Maybe the poor people deserve a little punishing instead of the coddling they've been receiving since the 1950s.

by Anonymousreply 1509/22/2013

Sorry, R14. Your thread has become a casualty of war and there is nothing anyone can do about it.

by Anonymousreply 1609/22/2013

R7 R12's recent post:

[quote]I am proud I am a racist. World would be better if more were.

by Anonymousreply 1709/22/2013

Which R5 is R7 talking about?

by Anonymousreply 1809/22/2013

Ignore R7, he has obviously blown his tubes like an old bad radio.

by Anonymousreply 1909/22/2013

R17, I never said any such thing, here or anywhere else.

by Anonymousreply 2009/22/2013

[quote]I am proud I am a racist. World would be better if more were.

If you really wrote this, then you're no better than some scumbag who talk about AIDS being the cure for homosexuality. It's pretty appalling that we have gay people who lack introspection when they express hate for others.

by Anonymousreply 2109/22/2013

R21, again, not me.

by Anonymousreply 2209/22/2013

R5/R8 is the one who wrote the quotes at R15 and R17. He really is an awful person.

by Anonymousreply 2309/22/2013

R21, you are getting caught up in a web of misinformation and misattributed quotes. No one here ever said such a horrible thing. The guy who is posting that is nuts.

by Anonymousreply 2409/22/2013

R24, Troll-dar doesn't lie.

by Anonymousreply 2509/22/2013

R25, pathetic loser typing in his underwear in his mother's basement.

by Anonymousreply 2609/22/2013

The most pressing thing on your mind today is what tomato can be subbed in which dish? Take a step back and realize this is what your life has been reduced to.

Tomorrow's thread preview: Can I sub Viva for Bounty Basic?

by Anonymousreply 2709/22/2013

Back to tomatoes - I think it would depend on the recipe.

Cherry tomatoes are juicier than grape tomatoes. So your dish might turn out drier if grape is substituted and no other changes are made.

by Anonymousreply 2809/22/2013

I'd like to hear more about the pros and cons of the paper towels.

by Anonymousreply 2909/22/2013

No. You must substitute pearl onions.

by Anonymousreply 3009/22/2013

Well, OP, you have your answer. Tomato substitutions are only for fascist, racist, parasites.

by Anonymousreply 3109/22/2013

...and tomato Nazis!

by Anonymousreply 3209/22/2013

Oh, good heavens.

Yes, OP, of course. Unless you are using a recipe for stuffed cherry tomatoes.

by Anonymousreply 3309/22/2013

First they came for the grape tomatoes...

by Anonymousreply 3409/22/2013

Grape tomatoes taste like home grown summer tomatoes, even in the winter. I love grape tomatoes!
