They played Rhythm Nation tonight at the gym and it gave me enough energy to do an extra 20 minutes on the stair climber

What are some songs that just get you going and pump you up? Or songs that always get you out on the dance floor?

Old upbeat Disco songs like "September" by Earth, Wind and Fire always make me want to dance, but I'll work out harder to any crappy pop-dance song with a thumping bass, even if I hate it. They just trigger something in my brain.

Play - Jennifer Lopez

I rarely dance but some songs always make me want to, here's one oldie that works for me and is good to work out to. MFSB-Soul Train Theme

by Anonymousreply 1509/19/2013

R14, you haven't heard this brilliant track? Prepare for a treat:

I love how Britney always sounds like she's having sex, the way she sings a lyric. It really helps you exert your capabilities in the gym, trust me! Wonderful!

r17 sucks cocks in hell, too.

Love it so much.

It needs to be

a. very good and one that I love

b. very dance and fast tempo, usually not old. Mostly current EDM chart shit or remixes.

I get why "Rhythm Nation" would work but it's too old for me. I was thinking of putting the 12" mix of "Vogue" on there. I've tried stuff like disco and uptempo rock but it usually doesn't work, needs to have that pounding beat. 90s Eurodance is really good, very fast.

Sadly I keep running out of songs since I've hammered most into the ground and they're so embedded in my brain I can't stand it.

All time best is probably "Only Girl in the World". Ones like that don't get old.

by Anonymousreply 2009/19/2013

I don't have any hard and fast favorites, but for the past week or two my "above and beyond" songs are:

The Death Set, Negative Thinking

Sasha, Xpander

Liars, Brats

If only Janet could spend 20 minutes on the stair climber.

by Anonymousreply 2209/19/2013

The Hairspray movie soundtrack is great for running over 8 MPH on the treadmill.

by Anonymousreply 2309/19/2013

With Rythym Nation, the beat is so strong that you don't have to focus on Janet's weak vocals.

by Anonymousreply 2409/19/2013

Janet who?
