22 Tons Of Fake Beef Seized In China
This week, police in Xi’an province reported that they had found and seized more than 22 tons of fake beef at a local factory. Get this: the “beef” was actually made from pork (which is considerably cheaper than beef) that had been treated with chemicals including paraffin wax and industrial salts to make it look like it came from a cow. Shanghiist reports that the factory sold more than 1,500 kilos (3,000 pounds) of the fake beef to local markets at around 25 to 33 yuan ($4 or $5) per kilo. Six workshops that were producing the fake beef have been discovered and shut down.
This isn’t the first instance of fake meat being sold in China. In May of this year, Medical Daily reported that 904 people were arrested in China for “meat-related offenses” over three months at the beginning of 2013. Included in these arrests was one gang of meat crooks who made over 10 million yuan ($1.6 million) by selling rat, fox, and mink meat at markets. This makes us wonder what impostor foods we might be eating, which in turn makes us very, very uncomfortable.

Meat augmentation in China. Is anyone surprised?

And as of last month, the USDA has just approved meat imported from China to be sold in the US!

Aren't they due to start supplying "chicken" "nuggets" to the U.S.

Solylent Green is only a matter of time.

China wants to process our meat.

This thread is useless without recipes.

R8 you think you're kidding.

This is where our CEOs want this country to go. Not for THEIR food, of course but for yours.

My beef curtains are real. Wanna smell them?

China can now export processed chicken food products to the U.S. without country-of-origin labels. The next time you wolf down a chicken nugget from a fast food restaurant or open that can of chicken noodle soup, there's no telling what you're actually eating.

worry about chicken nuggets? how dumb you guys are! the chicken nuggets are already full of chemicals. Here is the list of the ingredients
Chicken, water, salt, sodium phosphates. Battered and breaded with bleached wheat flour, water, wheat flour, modified food starch, salt, spices, wheat gluten, paprika, dextrose (sugar), yeast, garlic powder, rosemary, partially hydrogenated soybean oil and cottonseed oil with mono- and diglycerides, leavening (sodium acid pyrophosphate, baking soda, ammonium bicarbonate, monocalcium phosphate), natural flavor (plant source) with extractives of paprika. Fried in vegetable oil (Canola oil, corn oil, soybean oil, hydrogenated soybean oil with TBHQ and citric acid). Dimethylpolysiloxane is added as an antifoaming agent.

We really wanted to authentically revive the slogan: Where's The Beef?
|by Anonymous||reply 19||09/19/2013|
R17 If it's from China that first ingredient might not even be chicken.

This is why the Food and Drug Administration was created, before it existed much of the food for sale in this country was contaminated, toxic, or fraudulent.
Of course TPTB want to undo all that, and take us back to the days when people got tuberculosis from eating diseased beef.

This is exactly why we need effective government oversight and regulations.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||09/20/2013|
Even with regulations here in the USA we have problems. Plus the purchasing of politicians that allows for corporations to make their own rules.

R23, fuck conservatives for gutting the FDA and promoting profits over people
|by Anonymous||reply 25||09/20/2013|
Chicken? This is about fake beef.

Rats (aka Nutria) have been illegally exported from Louisiana to China for decades. Allegedly.
|by Anonymous||reply 29||09/20/2013|
I'm just shocked they didn't find any lead in the fake beef.
|by Anonymous||reply 31||09/21/2013|
Fake beef-I thought this was a thread about steroids.
