by Count Dork-u-lareply 1309/18/2013

R5! Is that the mix that has some woman saying "The music just turns me on" in it??!!! That mix is awesome!! My song would be the cheesetastic "One for Sorrow" by Steps.

by Count Dork-u-lareply 1409/18/2013

Funky Town.

by Count Dork-u-lareply 1509/18/2013

[quote]s that the mix that has some woman saying "The music just turns me on" in it??!!! That mix is awesome!!

Haha, yes, that's the one.

Also "Marcia Baila" by Les RIta Mitsouko. I'm wondering if I really think the songs themselves are dorky or if they remind me of a time when I was a dorky kid.

I wouldn't consider any of these songs "dorky."

The theme to "One Day At A Time"? Now that's dorky.

'Kites Are Fun' by the Free Design and 'Tonight You Belong To Me' by Patience & Prudence.

by Count Dork-u-lareply 2509/18/2013

Well, I only have this thread to blame for the fact that I just downloaded the "Good Night, Sleep Tight" song from the Lawrence Welk Show ("Adios, Au Revoir, Aufwiedersehn") .

Let's all do it and send it to #1 on the Billboard charts!

by Count Dork-u-lareply 2609/18/2013

[quote]Also "Marcia Baila" by Les RIta Mitsouko. I'm wondering if I really think the songs themselves are dorky or if they remind me of a time when I was a dorky kid.

That hits a nerve. That song came out when I was a senior in high school deep in flyover country, desperate to escape. I loved the song and the stylish music video (still do), but mostly my friends and I thought ourselves so cosmopolitan for knowing the words to a song in French. Whereas we were just dorks.

by Count Dork-u-lareply 3309/18/2013

[quote] 'Tonight You Belong To Me' by Patience & Prudence.

Love this.

by Count Dork-u-lareply 3409/18/2013

I don't allow any dorky songs on my iPod, however the BEST song on my iPod is the extended version of the 70's disco song "Push Push In The Bush" by Musique. I just love it to death.

[quote]"Teenage Dream" by Katy Perry

The Gay Men's Chorus sang that (or rather marched to a recording of themselves singing it) in our recently held pride parade. Peculiar choice for a bunch of 50 year old men.

I saw several mentions of Bee Gees songs. There IS NOTHING dorky about the Bee Gees. Believe it or not, I'm an old school '70s hard rocker/metal-head guy and I loved the Bee Gees (even their disco stuff). No shame in loving the Bee Gees. I still think they were fantastic. Carry on.

by Count Dork-u-lareply 7810/21/2013

"Eres Tu"--Mocedades

I downloaded a bunch of old K-tel records and it's on one of those.

by Count Dork-u-lareply 8410/22/2013

Oh, I still love "Erus Tu" after all these years. Looooove it.

I have tons of Archies songs from my childhood. Dorky but good memories attached. Tommy Roe's "Dizzy:" too.

by Count Dork-u-lareply 8510/22/2013

Shut Up And Let Me Go - The Ting Tings

I love it, a fun and simple song but has that dork factor going on in there.

Filthy Gorgeous - Scissor Sisters

Love the music, not so much the lyrics.

by Count Dork-u-lareply 8610/22/2013

Gordon Lightfoot - The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

Oh, the shame... I even turn the volume way down if I'm listening with my headphones on and there's someone around who might hear.

by Count Dork-u-lareply 9110/22/2013

Please r81, the Bee Gees and their shrill, near Chipmunks harmonies define "dorky." Overrating the annoying Bee Gees is what doomed disco to an early death.

by Count Dork-u-lareply 9210/22/2013

You Take My Breath Away - Rex Smith

Theme to Dance Fever - Triple S Connection

C is for Cookie & Telephone Rock from Sesame Street

by Count Dork-u-lareply 9410/22/2013

"Dorkiest"? Probably They Might Be Giants "Why Does The Sun Really Shine? (The Sun is a Miasma of Incandescent Plasma)"

by Count Dork-u-lareply 9510/22/2013

I just uploaded Aretha's complete Atlantic Singles. Her disco single "Ladies Only" is bloody awful (and I like good disco). She speaks French at one point. Her pronunciation has to be heard to be believed.

I also have pretty much everything Lulu ever released, which includes more than a fair share of dorky tracks. Special mention for: I'm A Tiger and My Boy Lollipop. No Champagne for Lulu in those cases.

by Count Dork-u-lareply 9610/22/2013

I've slowly come to realise that my ipod is stocked with dorky songs. Thank Jeebus for password-protection. This one is from the Dutch Eurovision entry of 1970: 'Hearts of Soul' with 'Waterman' ("Aquarius" in Dutch).

by Count Dork-u-lareply 9710/22/2013

... And, oh yeah, "Ding-A-Dong" by Teach-In (Eurovision winner of 1975). *hangs head in shame*

by Count Dork-u-lareply 9810/22/2013

Ooh, I'm getting some good songs from this thread. I love that "Name Game" song. Both versions.
