Customer Writers "N--ger" On Waitress's Receipt, Internet Goes Crazy

Pic of said receipt at link.

Toni Christina Jenkins is a waitress at Red Lobster in Franklin, TN. Today she posted a copy of a receipt she says she received from one of her customers. The receipt clearly says "Devin Barnes" on it. The internet has gone crazy about it as some commenters have called it a "false flag" and saying that she did it herself. Naturally, there is no way of knowing for sure. I searched for Devin Barnes online; however while there are several Devin Barnes there does not appear to be any on Facebook (or anywhere else) in Tennessee. That doesn't make it false.

In these situations, there is really no way of knowing for sure. There have been incidents where people have lied about these sorts of things, of course. However, there have been MANY situations where people casually throw around the word n--ger like they're going to win a prize for saying it enough. And for those who believe that a person would not be that openly racist, you can see proof otherwise HERE.

She has now taken down the post saying on her FB page, "I'm not reading anymore post or answering anyone else direct messages.. I'm now getting harassed about the validity of the receipt. If u know me u know how to reach me."

On her Facebook page, she unknowingly has a picture of her studies including a handwriting sample. The e has a very similar feel but I'm not a handwriting expert. You can see more comments and arguments about whether or not this is real HERE.

This didn't happen

by Anonymousreply 209/10/2013

I don't think this happened. If so, that customer would not be coming back to that restaurant any time soon!

I think the waitress didn't get left a tip and decided to get some revenge.

This comes across to me as being very "Tawana Brawley."

by Anonymousreply 609/10/2013

r5 nailed it.

Besides, the correct way to handle this would've been to immediately let the manager know.

by Anonymousreply 709/10/2013

It's a fake.

Although given the waitress' English skills evident from her "statement," one is surprised she didn't write "none" as "nun" and leave out a "g" in the offensive self-directed slur.

I saw that it was found to be a hoax and she was fired. Of course THAT isn't in the national news.

R9 can go lick Tawana Brawley's "special sauce" if she thinks this is not the rule rather than the exception. Crackers don't leave evidence with credit card payments except when they're using a stolen card.

She should get together with the "euthanize my autistic son" mom.

Is it irony that this makes waves, yet barely an update seen anywhere on the racist attacks on non-black people in New York lately?

Or, perhaps it's just racism.?.

r18 rocks

by Anonymousreply 1909/11/2013

I totally bet she did it herself for attention.

by Anonymousreply 2009/11/2013

duh

by Anonymousreply 2109/11/2013

Was she fired? She posted it with the customer's name, right?
