This thread will end in tears.

It started in tears, R12. Some ranting Mary upset about minorities again. But instead of coming out and saying that, he uses the term "ghetto", which for some reason, everyone likes to stick onto black people. It is an Italian word aimed at Jews.

If you're looking for drugs and poverty ( and crime to be honest) I suggest you look at Appalachia and the suburbs. Poverty is increasing much faster in the suburbs than in the cities and/or ghettos. People are dropping like flies from meth and prescription drugs and those people aren't in ghettos. But everyone wants to ignore it and pretend that drugs are an inner city problem when in fact people in the ghetto make up a small percentage of drug users and they definitely aren't dying from overdoses at anywhere near the same rate. So people will continue to die in large numbers ( in larger numbers than the heroin epidemic of the 70s and the crack epidemic of the 80s and early 90s) and we will continue to ignore it. It's ridiculous and dangerous.

Drove through East St Louis this summer, the part closest to the river. I couldn't tell if there was grass in the yard because it was covered in so much garbage.

In modern American vernacular, "ghetto" means poor, urban and black. When you say the word "ghetto" to an American, they immediately get a specific picture in their mind of what you're talking about. The same is true when you say "white trash." Instant recognition of what you mean.

Kiryas Joel, New York. It has the highest poverty rate in the nation, over 2/3 live below the poverty level and more than 40% of the population is on food stamps.

I suspect an Indian Reservation would be high on the list.
Pine Ridge Reservation (population 28,000) in South Dakota has the lowest per capita income in the country, and the little town of Whiteclay, Nebraska (the closest liquor stores) sell 5 million cans of beer per year.

That town is all Orthodox Jews, who have established their own town, with their own Jewish "Sharia Laws", who all have a million kids. Because of the very limited gene pool they have tons of wonky kids with various disabilities, and generally have far more children than they can afford anyway, that's why they're poor. That, and because they have to walk to work which limits employment opportunities.
It's basically a 21st century shtetl..They are experts at working the social services system, and are all on Food Stamps and every kind of government aid imaginable, but because they are Jewish, and stay separate...well, you know how that goes.

Too bad the new app Ghetto Tracker-- a service seeking to help people identify safe areas in unfamiliar cities--has already garnered enough backlash to prompt an immediate shut down and a name change to Good Part of Town.

That's because no one who lives there wants to work. It's an Orthodox Jewish community and most of the men only want to sit around studying religion all day and want the government to support them. They all have gigantic families too
