Can't believe he had the balls to compare us and others to the mafia. What does he think the Christian Right is? He's a big crybaby. If he had just gone ahead and made the cake, he'd still be in business. Do I have to state the obligatory two words for him? GAY PORN!

by Anonymousreply 209/05/2013

What "mafia-style tactics"? There are no details in the report. As we often say on DL, "link, please".

This don't appear to be [italic]sleeping with the fishes[/italic] yet - though they're probably [italic]driving[/italic] with them (i.e, bumper stickers).

The only fact information in the report is their claim that their wedding cake business shrivelled up almost overnight - but how can that be due to gay [italic]mafiosi[/italic]? This couple never (knowingly) sold 'em wedding cakes in the first place!

Oh I see...it's the fault of the gays that young, straight couples were disgusted by their homophobia!

by Anonymousreply 309/05/2013

cry me a river, haters.

by Anonymousreply 409/05/2013

They had the freedom to refuse to make that cake, and everyone else had the freedom to take their business elsewhere. If they'd had any sense at all they would have marketed to the burgeoning gay marriage industry and reaped a healthy profit. This is what hate gets you.

by Anonymousreply 609/05/2013

Shit, that Huffington site is sticky as hell. Wonder why.

by Anonymousreply 709/05/2013

If that dude said "I have faith in the Lord," then he is too fucking stupid to maybe think that what has happened to his business might be a result of his hateful actions and judgemental thoughts. Maybe "God" is SHOWING him that his thoughts and his actions have been, oh, I don't know, WRONG??? You know, if you DO believe in God, then there is the saying that God will thump you in the head to get a message. If that doesn't work, he will hit you with a brick. You have to keep getting those messages over and over until you GET the message. This douche and his stupid cow of a wife (yeah, I sound judgmental, of course! LOL) will continue their anti-gay beliefs and will continue to get the results they get in life. Unless and until they learn that love and compassion and inclusion are the way. THOSE are the lessons of Jesus. "God won't support hate, douchebages! I know, I know, the irony of my post and all....

by Anonymousreply 909/05/2013

I do, R5. That's the free market these people favor. Furthermore, if they weren't shitting all over their customers, they'd still be in business.

by Anonymousreply 1009/05/2013

Bitter Cakes

by Anonymousreply 1109/05/2013

More about this charming, "Christian" couple...

by Anonymousreply 1209/05/2013

It's nice to see how the people in Gresham, Oregon stood up against the hatred and bigotry of the ignorant couple by taking their business elsewhere.

by Anonymousreply 1309/05/2013

Part of "God's plan," R9.

by Anonymousreply 1409/05/2013

If you make a good product that people want to buy, no amount of negative publicity from gay people will make a difference.

by Anonymousreply 1609/05/2013

r16, it will if you live in a liberal area or where your demographic won't support that product.

by Anonymousreply 1709/05/2013

The indecent with the gay couple came to light back in February. Shortly after the story broke, they bragged that supporters were driving hundreds of miles to patronize them and business was booming. Now, some seven months later they are closing and blaming it on the boycott? I smell bullshit. What is more likely their business has been circling the bowl for some time. Anyone who would turn customers away and post racist and hateful remarks on social media sites deserves to lose what they have.

by Anonymousreply 1809/05/2013

Exactly what is inappropriate, R5? If I have the choice between supporting a business who has beliefs that I find to be hateful and bigoted or one that is open and accepting of all people regardless of orientation, gender, race, etc., I will use the the business that is more in line with my beliefs - similar to the way xtians support Chik-fillet. Or, are you saying we should also eat that crap, too?

by Anonymousreply 1909/05/2013

death to crappy fast food in general.

by Anonymousreply 2109/05/2013

Their business took a swan dive because of bad business practices and ethics.

The customers responded angrily, their business failed as a result.

Sounds like they're angry that the Big Bad Government didn't support them...but since most KKKristians hate the Big Bad Government, why should they expect help?

What could possibly be more American? God bless the Free Market! God bless capitalism!

by Anonymousreply 2209/05/2013

You cannot run a successful business in the modern US and still let your religious beliefs run your business making decisions. Unless, of course, your business is specifically catering towards a niche religious market.

What did they think would happen when they decided, as a wedding cake company, to discriminate against LGBT? Don't they realize that many wedding planners are gay or gay-friendly? Didn't they realize the backlash this would cause?

If they would have just kept their religion to themselves they would have a thriving business instead of a shuttered one.

by Anonymousreply 2309/05/2013

This is one of those rare examples were the concept of a free market actually works for the greater good.

by Anonymousreply 2409/05/2013

Hey, they wanted to be bigoted jerks, so they got what they ask for.

by Anonymousreply 2509/05/2013

[quote]Shortly after the story broke, they bragged that supporters were driving hundreds of miles to patronize them and business was booming.

KKKristians are liars.

by Anonymousreply 2709/05/2013

It's a hilarious but persistent logical fallacy that the religious right always makes: they stupidly hold that to be truly tolerant, liberals must be tolerant of the religious right's own intolerance and discriminatory tactics.

by Anonymousreply 2809/05/2013

by Anonymousreply 2909/05/2013

No R19, you misread what I wrote. I would NOT support these idiots, but I also don't think that people should protest outside their shop etc.Just take your business elsewhere. As I said, I think their business was not doing well prior to this incident.

by Anonymousreply 3009/05/2013

They need cupcakes jammed up their cunts

by Anonymousreply 3109/05/2013

That looks like the work of hackers, R12.

by Anonymousreply 3209/05/2013

Like all ignorant bigots, they blame their victims for the repercussions of their own ignorant bigotry.

Blaming the victim is what conservatives and religious nuts DO.

by Anonymousreply 3309/05/2013

[quote]but I also don't think that people should protest outside their shop etc. Just take your business elsewhere.

I know too many people who say stupid shit like this that would be out side their shop protesting if they had this same policy against Christians, or against Jews, or against black people, or against Hispanics...

Seriously. Gays are always just supposed to "suck it up" and not complain. Why is that, I wonder?

by Anonymousreply 3409/05/2013

You ask why gays are supposed to suck it up? We don't waste protein.

by Anonymousreply 3509/05/2013

People are going to send them money.

by Anonymousreply 3609/05/2013

Fools and their money are soon parted.

Rush Limbaugh and Pat Robertson are two people that have gotten very wealthy off that principle.

by Anonymousreply 3709/05/2013

On a previous tread about these pukes I interjected the only logical response to their decision not to serve us gay folk-- STOP GIVING THEM AND OTHERS LIKE THEM OUR MONEY! People like these bakers don't care if people like us disagree with them, and laws on the books they can always be gotten around. It's comical to them how righteous we think we are in our positions against them. The only true way to show them the score is to shut the fuck up and encourage those who support us not to support them. Having to tell your shops's patrons to ignore the picketers outside is one thing. No money coming in to keep the lights on is quite another. So, to those who chose to speak with the wallets, job well done. Let's continue to be as prudent.

by Anonymousreply 3809/06/2013

[quote]I also don't think that people should protest outside their shop etc.

So how long have free speech, and peaceful assembly been bugging you?

by Anonymousreply 3909/06/2013

Nothing wrong with free speech. But it falls upon deaf ears if they're attached to a fundamentalist. Sometimes actions speak louder than words.

by Anonymousreply 4009/06/2013

Dear R16 ,

That's definitely not true.

Now that they're out of business, they won't have to pay the rate increases for their employees' health insurance under Obamacare. So this has worked out pretty well for them.
