Art Gallery to display photos send by men via telephone

Received on Scruff etc.

One of the men has tried to get a judge to stop the show or remove his photo, he is a man of influence, but the judge said once you send a photo to another person via electronic means it becomes their property to do with what they will.

It's funny to hear that people are too stupid to realize that everything they send out electronically can end up in front of a world-wide audence.

So, if I text someone a picture I took of a copyrighted photo in an art gallery, the recipient can use it in advertising based upon the mere fact of my method of transmittal?

I'd call myself an advanced amateur photographer and think this is just wrong.

I'm all for artistic expression etc,, but the person putting the show together does not hold the copyright to these photos. Just because somebody sent you a photo does not mean you have the right to do anything you want with it.

And the judge's ruling is completely wrong. Sending a photo by text does not reassign the copyright to anybody else.

Glad I do mostly landscapes.

Sorry, but I'm all for stupidity on full display. Wy can't they also add the names/ screen names? That would make it even better.

by Anonymousreply 408/24/2013

No. Sending a photo of art is a copyright violation, but sending a photo of yourself seems to be seen as a gift and the copyright is lying with the recipient.

I am not saying the judge is right or it might not eventually be overturned, but in the meantime this poor man is going to be stiff, naked and cumming in a gallery without his consent.

Mr. Weiner. Will you never learn?

R5, in order to reassign copyright you have to sign away the copyright in a contract, The sending of a text in no way a contract.

I've given prints that I have done to friends and family members, my giving people my work does not reassign the copyright to them. The copyright remains with me.

I'm in the process of trying to pick 3 images to send to be considered for a show at a local gallery. This afternoon, I e-mailed several friends the photos asking them for their impressions. If your idea that sending a photo to somebody give it to them, then I've now given the copyright to 5 different people.

It doesn't work that way. Despite all the new methods of transmitting and sending images, when it comes to assigning right, you still need to sign your name to a contract.

I'd love to see a bunch of these men sue these bitches.

The other issue is that these women have no idea if any of these dick pics belong to minors. They could be distributing child porn if some 17 year old's dick is in this exhibit.

It's just dick shots.

Rule #1 of online hookup sites...your face and your dick are never together. Ever. Not even within a chat session. It's either all dick and body shots or all face and clothed body shots.

by Anonymousreply 808/24/2013

I went to the show, it is not JUST dick shots. All of the shots include a penis but most are fully attached to a body and face, only a few are dick close ups.
