"Ben-Hur" to be remade by... wait for it...

...the director of "Wanted" and "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter"!

I was expecting Baz Luhrmann for some reason.

Good, because the world is clamoring for a video game-styled remake of "Ben-Hur".

What the hell is left of the story, if you take away the epic scope and dopey religiosity of the original?

Bringing the gay content into the forefront won't be enough to make a cheap modern remake interesting.

They're going to parallel the Ben Hur story with the Christ story?!?

"Bringing the gay content into the forefront won't be enough to make a cheap modern remake interesting."

But what if they title the remake "Been Her"?

by Simon Halls's Raised Open Palmreply 508/19/2013

Why would they do this?

Ben-Hur was just remade as a three hour miniseries in 2010.

by Simon Halls's Raised Open Palmreply 608/19/2013

I thought it said Valerie Harper was going to remake it!

From my cold, dead hands.

R8, YOUR cold, dead hands?? MY cold, dead hands!

The 2010 miniseries was dreadful, amusing enough if tedious on its own level - but not a re-telling of the epic story, in fact the epic elements were downplayed, so it was quite ordinary.

If it is being made again, now is the time to ramp up the gay elements - Ben with admiral Quintus Arrius, who adopts him, and all that Massala stuff. That would be a selling point.
