Has anybody ever used Lipton Onion Soup Mix for soup?

I asked this on my FB page and nobody has except one person who said it was awful.

I was impressed at how many different uses there are for it.

Anybody here use it for soup?

by Anonymousreply 4208/17/2013

No one ever has. It's a wonder they haven't discontinued the product.

by Anonymousreply 108/15/2013

I use it in spinach dip for the Superbowl and I also mix a little of the dry mix in with my hamburgers. yummy!

by Anonymousreply 208/15/2013

Fuck you, frau. take your stupid thread elsewhere.

by Anonymousreply 308/15/2013

Try the Kosher version - much nicer, great dip. Fresh onion soup is so simple and tasty and easy that the instant doesn't compare,

But it is a quick flavor base for other dishes

by Anonymousreply 408/15/2013

It's saltier than Joan Rivers.

by Anonymousreply 508/15/2013

I mix it with unflavored lube for those 'extra special' nights.

by Anonymousreply 608/15/2013

I've made it into soup, but then I douche with it.

by Anonymousreply 708/15/2013

Meat loaf. French onion dip.

by Anonymousreply 808/16/2013

Actually, soup is the only reason I'd use it. It's been a while. I loved having a couple of mugs of the onion soup and plain white rice when I was in college.

by Anonymousreply 908/16/2013

r5 I agree,it's inedible. Just like Joan. r8 Quicky meatloaf: 1.5 lbs ground beef; 1 envelope of the dry onion soup mix; one small can(5oz) evaporated milk. Mush it all up, shape into a free-form loaf. Bake for an hour. Good hot, and makes great sandwiches.

by Anonymousreply 1008/16/2013

That meatloaf recipe sounds delish!

by Anonymousreply 1108/16/2013

When I was a young, poor, literally starving college student I mooched (stole) a couple of packs from a housemate and made cups of soup. It replenished my body with sodium and made me feel 100% better. Gave me awful-smelling gas, though.

by Anonymousreply 1208/16/2013

(r2) What's the spinach dip recipe (that also sounds delish!)?

by Anonymousreply 1308/16/2013

The spinach dip recipe is on the box. Its heavy but good for special occasions!

by Anonymousreply 1408/16/2013

R12, you mean you farted a lot?

by Anonymousreply 1508/16/2013

I used it once for cabbage soup.

by Anonymousreply 1608/16/2013

The Knorr's spinach dip recipe using vegetable soup mix is much better.

Lipton onion soup mix + 16 oz sour cream = onion dip.

Lipton onion soup mix + ground turkey = turkey burgers.

by Anonymousreply 1708/16/2013

Only the trashiest tackpot would still use dry onion soup packets to make onion dip.

by Anonymousreply 1808/16/2013

I use it for deep fried hot dog nuggets - it's to die for! And it's so simple. Y'all just need to get a tube of crescent rolls, cut up hot dogs into quarters. Pour the onion soup mix on the quartered hot dogs, seal in crescent dough and drop in the deep fryer until golden brown.

Serve with mayo with a little bit of the dry onion soup mix for flavor.

As long as you got the deep fryer going, cut up some twinkies and deep fry those little fuckers while you're at it. It's a perfect congruent pairing.

by Anonymousreply 1908/16/2013

Well smell you, R18.

by Anonymousreply 2008/16/2013

Cheryl's pussy smells like Onyums.

by Anonymousreply 2108/16/2013

R3 must not have slept well -- maybe ate onion dip just before going to bed?

by Anonymousreply 2208/16/2013

I can't believe anyone would put this toxic, nasty shit in their bodies.

by Anonymousreply 2308/16/2013

r18 Mary, get to know what good is.

Knorr's is a good product too. The vegetable soup is my favorite, but not for soup.... Use it in cream cheese, for an easy cracker or bagel spread.

*Important tip* only use a tiny amount of the product, it's an overwhelmingly potent taste. I get six to eight uses out of one packet.

by Anonymousreply 2608/16/2013

There are many, many copycat recipes for onion soup mix. Most call for spices, dried onions, and beef bouillon cubes. I would substitute homemade, extremely concentrated beef broth, or use the following MSG-free recipe. Please excuse the fact that the author is a fundie health nut.

by Anonymousreply 2708/16/2013

Ann Landers' meatloaf recipe. Uses one packet of Lipton's. My mom made it, and so do I. (It's really good cold in a sandwich with ketchup and mayo.)

by Anonymousreply 2808/16/2013

Spinach dip for special occasions?? Really?

Do you have enough counter space in your trailer to mix up all this shit?

by Anonymousreply 2908/16/2013

I use it to get the hard water stains out of the toilet bowl.

by Anonymousreply 3008/16/2013

Dear R29, fuck right off.

by Anonymousreply 3108/16/2013

R29 Special occasion is changing Tallulah's litterbox.

by Anonymousreply 3208/16/2013

Does anyone have a bitchin' recipe for onion soup mix in the crockpot? Lord knows I need sumpin for the office pot luck Friday. They're tired of my twinkie casserole.

by Anonymousreply 3308/17/2013

R33 On today's "America's Test Kitchen" (a repeat) they demonstrated their recipe for slow-cooker French onion soup. Some odd ingredients like apple butter and soy sauce, but it did look good.

by Anonymousreply 3408/17/2013

r34 I saw that show too. I don't see how you can make any sort of decent onion soup without carmelizing the onions on the stovetop? It may have LOOKED good, but I'm willing to bet it lacked the depth of flavor any good French onion soup is supposed to have.

by Anonymousreply 3508/17/2013

The creamed broccoli makes a great replacement for a bukkake party. Just open the can and splash your face....... Saves time and wear and tear on the carpeting

by Anonymousreply 3608/17/2013

It makes for a nice enema. Warm and tingly, and really cleans your insides out.

by Anonymousreply 3708/17/2013

I think you meant Cream of Broccoli (soup) as opposed to creamed broccoli. And anyway, Campbell's Cream of Potato used to be used for fake cum shots in porn movies back in the day.

by Anonymousreply 3808/17/2013

r38 I thought they used Cornhusker's Lotion, or Ivory Liquid?

by Anonymousreply 3908/17/2013

I make a circle around my house with just a thin layer of the powder. With the right prayers, it will keep out dark sided people.

by Anonymousreply 4008/17/2013

Once. Never again. Love the dip though.

by Anonymousreply 4108/17/2013

It's great in meatloaf, mixed into ground beef/turkey and cooked as burger patties, and as a marinade for chicken breasts.
