How many countries have you visited?

I just did the poll at the link-

27 countries, which puts me in the top .01%!

Woo hoo!

by Anonymousreply 3508/24/2013

I was going to say 18, but since they're counting Vatican City as its own country, it's actually 19.

by Anonymousreply 107/31/2013

28 here, and all in the Northern Hemisphere.

by Anonymousreply 207/31/2013

What are you credit scores, retirement savings and credit card balances.

International vacations are not an entitlement.

by Anonymousreply 307/31/2013

8, but I've done lots of multiples to a couple of them.

by Anonymousreply 407/31/2013

r1, I'm the same, well, except I was going to say 17 but as they are counting Puerto Rico and Vatican City as countries, it's 19.

by Anonymousreply 507/31/2013

16. I've never added it up before so I had no idea. That did make me want to travel more though. There are so many places I haven't been.

by Anonymousreply 607/31/2013

I've been to Georgia and California.

by Anonymousreply 707/31/2013

I've got 38 but a bunch of those are just an airport. Still, not bad.

by Anonymousreply 807/31/2013

Good GOD- if they included airports it would over 35!

by Anonymousreply 907/31/2013

67 countries - I could count 68 if Antarctica was listed as a country.

by Anonymousreply 1007/31/2013

Only 9. I'm depressed.

by Anonymousreply 1107/31/2013

According to that map it's 50.

However, in the Caribbean they left out U.S. Virgin Islands, British Virgin Islands, and Netherlands Antilles. In the Indian Ocean, they left out Chagos Archipelago (Diego Garcia). With those, it puts me at 54.

I'm jealous of R10 who got to Antarctica. I only got down as far south as the Str. of Magellan.

by Anonymousreply 1207/31/2013

35 but they are missing some in the Caribbean. I did not include airports, just those where I've had an overnighter...

Only 2 right now. But ask again in October and it will be 8. Going to Europe for a month in September.

by Anonymousreply 1507/31/2013

20, but it's really easy to pick up a lot if you've cruised through the carribean or traveled around central Europe. Multiple visits to the same countries.

by Anonymousreply 1607/31/2013

7 (or 9, if I'm stretching it a bit). Don't suppose flying over different airspaces counts ...

by Anonymousreply 1707/31/2013

Visired 11 and lived in 3

by Anonymousreply 1807/31/2013

11 in Asia, 8 in Europe, 1 each for the Middle East and North America. I too omitted airport stopovers.

by Anonymousreply 1907/31/2013

I've always wanted to go to all of the world's microstates; Lichtenstein, Navurro, Tuvalu, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, Andorra, The Vatican City and Luxembourg. Has anyone been to them? Maybe you could post about them.

by Anonymousreply 2007/31/2013

34 countries here. Strange Antarctica wasnt on the list. Never been anywhere in Africa yet. Gotta start planning that!

by Anonymousreply 2108/01/2013

72 but that is only a third of the possibilities!

by Anonymousreply 2208/01/2013

by Anonymousreply 2308/01/2013

I'm an American. I've visited Canada, US BVI, British BVI, Japan, China, Indonesia Bali, S. Korea, and Mexico.

53 yr. gay man.

by Anonymousreply 2408/01/2013

I think it's like 10 or something.. all in Europe though. Never been outside of Europe.

by Anonymousreply 2508/01/2013

[quote]27 countries, which puts me in the top .01%!

46. Yawn. (I'm including Antarctica, even if it's not on the map, as it's an internationally recognized continent.)

by Anonymousreply 2608/01/2013

40. I'm not a big Europhile which would rack up a lot of countries.

by Anonymousreply 2708/01/2013

Not military. A few for biz, most for pleasure

Don't! I was in a number of African countries for my work. I'm glad I experienced them but would never want to go back and would tell people they'll have a more enjoyable vacation in other parts of the world. I'd happily return to most places I visited in Europe, South America, and Australia.

I agree. JoBurg is the scariest place on earth (well, at least in my travels) and I would never go back until things change.

That said, the Saxon hotel in JoBurg (which is behind heavy gates and protected by armed guards) is in the top ten of hotels I've ever visited. The complimentary breakfast had caviar and fresh sushi and a chef fixing omelettes that would make you cry. I saw Oprah walk in as we were leaving.

If you DO want to do S. Africa, go to Londolozi on the Sabi preserve. It is amazing.

A friend and I were walking past an outdoor market in Freetown, Sierra Leone, when the locals started throwing vegetables at us because we're white. I never cared for broccoli to begin with, but after that event, I've added garbanzo beans to the list of veggies that I don't like.

by Anonymousreply 3108/20/2013

Sierra Leone was amazing in "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" and I always wondered why her face changed so much before "Deep Throat 3".

by Anonymousreply 3308/24/2013

19. (I only counted countries I spent at least two nights in.)

:-( I'm 30-years-old and I've been trying to travel more but find it hard. I'm even European. My family didn't travel when I was a kid though.

by Anonymousreply 3408/24/2013

Africa:2 3.57%

Europe:14 29.17%

Middle East:1 4.76%

North America:1 25%

Total Visited:18 8.33%
