Joe Manganiello: my schedule from True Blood has prevented me from being cast in Superman/Captain America/Iron Man/Thor/Hercules

Think his agent is just mindfucking him with all these offers?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 45101/18/2015

He's manly looking but seems a little vacant. I don't see any major star appeal. He reminds me of 80's Chippendale dancers.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 207/30/2013

Hercules? So Joe turned it down and the producers had no other choice but to hire The Rock?! I get that he's probably insecure about where his career is heading but he shouldn't say dumb shit like this. There's going to be more of this nonsense, as he's started publicly lobbying for the Batman role.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 307/31/2013

Lol doesn't TRUE BLOOD only shoot for like three months a year? An HBO show would be much easier to juggle with films than a broadcast show.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 508/01/2013

An HBO show with a pregnant star is not easy to juggle.

He never said he had call backs for the roles of Captain America, Thor or Ironman - but for the movies.

Give the guy a break.

He is gorgeous and hasn't embarrassed himself in True Blood.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 608/01/2013

He's too busy escorting.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 708/01/2013

Is there any truth to that R7?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 808/01/2013

The irony is that everyone - literally, everyone who watches the show- has hated his storyline for the past two years, and if he'd have been written off or had had a much smaller role, he'd have been able to audition for some of those roles.

Be careful what you wish for.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 908/01/2013

Joe Man-jello is THE HOTNESS.

Now and forever.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 1008/01/2013

I'm sure it had more to do with his lack of talent.

He also radiates seaminess, which was fine for the role of a sex worker in Magic Mike, but not for any role that requires a modicum of self-respect.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 1108/01/2013

He's hot but VERY insecure. I'm friends with someone who met his most recent ex gf. She said he's unhappy and obsesses over his appearance. If you notice, all his roles have to do with his looks and not his acting skills.

I don't think his True Blood schedule cost him-I bet he auditioned and simply didn't get those roles. I'd chose The Rock over him too for Hercules. The Rock has shown he can lead action movies. Manganiello was a co-star in Magic Mike...

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 1208/01/2013

I'm sure when there were 10,000 headshots on the casting director's desk, his was one of them (that *is* what a good agent does)

But when it came down to really looking at a handful of actors to cast for the roles ? Not so muchiello.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 1308/01/2013

I touch myself when I think of me.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 1408/01/2013

Is he hot? I can't tell with that Grizzly Adams look he has going on.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 1508/01/2013

Didn't a lot of those films come out before he even joined the cast of TB?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 1608/01/2013

I don't find him attractive at all. From the neck down he looks like a statue but the face? He doesn't even have what it takes to be a good character actor let alone a leading man. As r11 stated, he looks seamy. And he didn't make much of an impression in Magic Mike. He mumbled all his lines. Silly movie for horny housewives and chubby Bachelorettes. At least Channing can dance and pull off the none too bright frat boy roles.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 1708/01/2013

Well, Joe you being cast on TRUE BLOOD prevented you from becoming a callboy and fulfilling my fantasy. So I guess we both lost out, didn't we!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 1808/01/2013

His storyline is awful. No one cares about werewolves.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 1908/01/2013

[quote] I happened to look at a couple of his acting clips before he got cast in "True Blood" because he took a gay man to court because he sent him "I love you" messages and flowers

link?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 2108/01/2013

R21 Why can't you look it up? I looked and can't find any of the articles. The articles are from around 2007-08. Likely most of the websites are gone now. AfterElton did cover this. I don't know if it is still in their archive.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 2208/01/2013

[quote] Why can't you look it up?

because you made it up and your lack of a source indicates that r22.....

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 2308/01/2013

R23 I didn't make anything up. I've looked up information on my own from comments that I read. I didn't demand someone give proof like I'm owed it which is what you are doing. I gave you information about the court case so if you are interested you can go look it up.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 2408/01/2013

you aren't exactly Woodward or Bernstein are you r24?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 2508/01/2013

[quote][R21] Why can't you look it up?

It's one of the few hard and fast (but unwritten) DL rules: If you make a claim based on something about something on the Internet, you need to back it up yourself if asked by providing a link, or people will think you're full of shit.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 2608/01/2013

But he made a fortune doing dessert topping and floor wax commercials in Japan.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 2708/01/2013

r20, are you implying he wanted the man to stop because he was uncomfortable with gay attention? Because it sounds to me like he wanted the man to stop because the guy was verging on creepy stalker.

Sending an (at the time completely) unknown actor multiple love notes and flowers is not normal behavior, and it sounds like the judge agreed.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 2808/01/2013

[quote]If you notice, all his roles have to do with his looks and not his acting skills.

I'm shocked! Shocked, I say!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 2908/01/2013

The truth is Joe Mangiello (?) is a sexy still photo. His acting is so wooden and charisma-free there's nothing sexy about it.

His career has peaked with True Blood, no doubt about it.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 3008/01/2013

This guy is so desperate for fame. Yes, he's hot, and he has come a long way, but the persistent desperation is not a good look. I wonder if he'll get a new team-agent, manager, publicist-to help him try to achieve his goal.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 3108/01/2013

I read the link and he mentioned getting call backs for the sequels of Thor, Iron Man and Captain America. Even he is not that delusional to put out there that he was up for the leads in those movies. Whether or not True Blood did prevent him from taking those parts or he didn't win them remains to be seen. Now Hercules, no way was he going to win that part of over The Rock. The Rock can open movies. Joe M is unproven at the box office, no way would the studio take a chance on him like that. Superman, he is too old/looks too mature to play fresh-faced Clark Kent. I think he's got to go for movies that are then just "oh look at me, I have a great body" and actually show some acting skill. I thought he was fine in Magic Mike, showed some comedic timing in that one but his part was small. And in True Blood, his storyline is a complete mess. But yes, he wants to be a star BAD. He should focus on being a good actor.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 3208/01/2013

He is doing Stanley Kowalski at the Yale Repertory Theatre in the fall.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 3308/01/2013

He has a fitness book coming out soon, can you imagine how hard he is going to push that thing? He will be shirtless on all the morning talk shows.

He is beginning to remind me of Mario Lopez. "LOOK AT ME! ARE YOU LOOKING? LOVE ME! LOVE MY BODY!"

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 3408/01/2013

He does not have the face to be Superman. Joe's handsome, but not conventionally so. His roman nose is all wrong for Superman.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 3508/01/2013

Joe is hot in a way that excites gay men. Not women.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 3608/01/2013

R36 Black women LUUUUURV Joe Manganiello.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 3708/01/2013

He should stick to comedy. He's an amusing second banana in HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 3808/01/2013

His nose is more Armenoid than Roman.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 3908/01/2013

[quote]He's manly looking but seems a little vacant. I don't see any major star appeal. He reminds me of 80's Chippendale dancers.

Dim witted hunks were actually the TV roles Joe was perfect in!

He played Jolie Fisher's dim real estate assistant on "Til Death" and IIRC, an airhead lawyer friend of Marshalls on "How I Met Your Mother". Joe was perfect, these were the roles he was meant to play.

If he wants a career after "True Blood", these are definitely the types of roles Joe needs to pursue. He's actually good at comedy.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 4008/01/2013

I now fast forward all his True Blood scenes, unless he's naked. I don't care anymore about the werewolves or the shifters.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 4108/01/2013

He will never be a movie star. He has peaked. He'd best keep his trap shut and his head down.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 4208/01/2013

That's a BINGO, r36. Which is why he will never be a leading man.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 4308/01/2013

That could arguable be said about somebody like Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson, and they are big stars.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 4408/01/2013

I don't consider Vin Diesel a big star. If it weren't for the Fast and Furious franchise he would hardly work at all. The Rock has a more broad appeal but his acting skills limit him to the fantasy/action hero genre .How many of those movies are bombing at the box office? Pretty much all of them. Manganiello is delusional if he thinks a studio is going to take a chance on making him the lead in an already dying genre.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 4508/01/2013

I think that Joe's career issues have a lot to do with him being difficult. He has admitted to being bossy and in a man of that size, that comes off as intimidating as hell. If Russell Crowe nearly derailed his career by being an asshole, it wouldn't be hard for someone at Joe's level to completely hit a wall.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 4608/01/2013

Damn, he keeps talking about Superman! He told Larry King that he won't even go to see it because it would be "like watching someone else have sex with his girlfriend." So either he came pretty close to landing it or he's fucking delusional. The worst part of that quote is that it makes it seem as though the ONLY reason why Cavill got the role was because he was not available.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 4708/01/2013

I've heard talk now and then of Joe being difficult. Maybe that's why he's isolated in his storyline from the other principle actors, because they don't want to work with him.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 4808/01/2013

Here he is talking to Larry King about it (why is Larry King interviewing him?)

Towards the end he sounds like he is about to cry!

FYI What he is talking about is a "test deal" - your agent makes the deal before they screen-test you so that if you are chosen, you are bound by the terms of the deal (so you can't leverage for more money once you are chosen). So they make the deal like you really are going to be shooting the film and the includes clearing dates with any other projects you are obligated to - in this case, Joe was obligated to shoot True Blood during the same time of year that WB was going to shoot Man of Steel, so they weren't allowed to screentest him.

He would not have been chosen anyway, Cavill was reportedly always Nolan's choice.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 4908/01/2013

That could be true, R48. It does seem like when the full cast gets together for promos, Joe is either with Kristen or by himself. I wouldn't be surprised if there were a major diva clash between him and Skarsgard.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 5008/01/2013

The fuck he didn't see it. You know he couldn't wait to see what Cavill did with the role. And it would have been an even bigger bomb with Joe in the lead. He is on almost every daytime talk and entertainment show. And every single time, he comes out bumping and grinding and teasing that he is going to remove his shirt. Of course the audience, comprised of fat housewives, over dressed millenials who watch re-runs of Sex and the City and think it was based on reality, and a smattering of gay men who know better, goes crazy. He gave Wendy Williams a lap dance that left little to the imagination. This is the image he wants to project. This is how he is selling himself to the public. There is an air of desperation in how he presents himself. He knows this is all lhe has going for him and it's not working anymore. If he's serious about his acting career, he needs to keep his shirt on, shut up and join the Actors Studio. As if they'd have him.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 5108/01/2013

I don't doubt that Manganiello has, like many popular celebrities on series, gotten several offers that he's had to turn down. It doesn't mean he was offered the leading roles in all of those listed projects (not did he say he did).

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 5208/01/2013

Most actors are insecure, will anyone call, where the next work is. Hollywood is full of handsome guys. Joe has many good things on his side: a successful show, big abs, he's known etc. Still, actors are insecure people.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 5308/01/2013

I did read somewhere that Joe was Zach Snyder's second choice for Supes, which seems nuts to me, he'd have made a terrible Superman, but whatever, Zach Snyder seems gay as fuck to me and probably wanted to see Joe in the costume but Cavill gave the better head.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 5508/01/2013

R50 I wonder how well Joe and Alex get along too. I can't see Alex being bitchy or jealous but Joe strikes me as the type that would.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 5608/01/2013

I bet Alan Ball would have managed to accommodate Joe's screen test in exchange for a happy.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 5708/01/2013

[quote]He would not have been chosen anyway, Cavill was reportedly always Nolan's choice.

Friggin limeys taken 'murrikan jobs!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 5808/01/2013

Lord but he is delusional.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 5908/01/2013

We're used to seeing female stars feeling insecure and eventually being unhappy with having fame/jobs based on their looks. Manganiello shows us it happens to some male stars too. He's not a great actor but wants to be known as one and I think he has maximized his potential. To make money he really should delve into the Mario Lopez land of fitness lines/products/recipes. He has a great body. Sadly this guy is also an alcoholic.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 6008/01/2013

Wow, r60. That is a revelation because he doesn't look healthy despite all the time spent in the gym. Good dish.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 6108/01/2013

***Breaking***

Joe will play Robin in new Superman/Batman movie. Already rehearsing:

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 6308/01/2013

Robin? Is Striker Eureka playing Batman? If this isn't a joke then I think I will have to see this just for the sheer ridiculousness of it all.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 6408/01/2013

R61 he has discussed it before I think in at least 1 interview, and my friend who knows his most recent ex gf was also told about how his alcoholism and unhappiness.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 6508/01/2013

Here is the interview that was mentioned earlier:

[quote]Manganiello said he had no plans to go see the movie, at least not for a while. "I don't think I'm going to be able to see it," he said. "It broke my heart because there was nothing I could do; I wasn't allowed to shoot it. I think going to watch that movie would be a bit like watching my girlfriend have sex with someone else."

MARY!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 6608/01/2013

R65, "most recent ex-girlfriend?" That sounds like he can't maintain a relationship. Which one is that, the blonde model that he was engaged to or the blonde French dancer?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 6708/01/2013

Suck it up, bitch.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 6808/01/2013

That's bullshit. Joe has admitted that he was an alcoholic but he got sober years ago. No way he could maintain a body like that and get shitfaced on the regular.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 6908/01/2013

R69 he's not telling the truth, but he's not getting drunk all the time. Not all alcoholics are the same. According to his ex, Joe is a binge drinker and can be insecure/unhappy. When he's having a really bad day, he'll binge drink. He's not drunk all the time, or at work etc. Just certain nights he'll get drunk.

R67 well when you're unhappy with yourself, it's hard to maintain a relationship and keep someone. I mean it's draining on the gf too.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 7008/01/2013

Why is he unhappy?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 7108/01/2013

R71, because his agent is blowing smoke up his ass about how he would have gotten him the part of Superman/Captain America/Iron Man/Thor/Hercules if it hadn't conflicted with his True Blood contract.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 7208/01/2013

He only looks good at certain angles. That unfortunate honker is a real problem!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 7308/01/2013

I hope for the sake of whomever he's with that he's a happy drunk. Can you imagine being around when that musclebound monster goes ballistic?

R70, he probably can't maintain a relationship because he's so caught up in himself and his career, that he can't be bothered with someone else's needs.

What else did the ex say about him?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 7408/01/2013

He is the definition of needs a nose job.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 7508/01/2013

He couldn't play any of those roles. He has the wrong look. His team is lying to him.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 7608/01/2013

Nothing about physical or verbal abuse was mentioned. I think Manganiello just takes things out on himself and is moody towards others when he's in 1 of those binges. That was all that was said. It wasn't a whole tell-all chat. His name just came up when they were chatting since my friend is a big fan of True Blood.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 7708/01/2013

Joe

I AM THE GHOST OF CHRISTMAS FUTURE!!!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 7808/01/2013

The man cannot act. He makes Keanu Reeves seem like Daniel Day Lewis.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 7908/01/2013

TB or no TB, there was no way in hell that Joe and his lupine looking self was going to be chosen to play Superman over the beauty that is Henry Cavill.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 8008/01/2013

Damn, R77, that ain't nothing. Thought you had some real dish! You just described the behavior of 85% of everyone in the Continental U.S. Hell, your average teenager is doing more illicit stuff than that. Joe seems just like any other run of the mill actor, which by default makes him self-involved.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 8108/01/2013

R80 Joe could have probably played an airhead version of Clark Kent pretty well. He's too old now anyway. Cavill is not only beautiful, he's also not pushing 40.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 8208/02/2013

R81 that poster described Manganiello as insecure, depressed, moody and a binge drinker. While it's nothing scandalous, it certainly breaks the confident, tough guy myth many of his fans would project on to him after seeing the types of characters he plays.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 8308/02/2013

WW R78

So true

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 8408/02/2013

And yet he found the time in his schedule to do MAGIC MIKE, in which he barely had 3 lines...

Joe, you need better representation, baby. Call us@

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 8508/02/2013

Joe's problem is that he is a cocktease. If he had just banged Steven "closeted-bisexual-in-heat" Soderbergh he could have gotten another scene out of him.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 8608/02/2013

[quote] While it's nothing scandalous, it certainly breaks the confident, tough guy myth many of his fans would project on to him after seeing the types of characters he plays.

R81, I don't think so. Now he's the brooding, tortured artiste in the body of an action hero. It brings complexity to a man that looks like a Tom of Finland drawing or a Harlequin romance novel cover model. Also, Joe has disclosed as much himself in several interviews.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 8708/02/2013

[quote] I remember reading about the Thor guy having to sleep to get that role and how it really pissed him off etc.

Huh?! You actually read somewhere that Chris Hemsworth slept with Kenneth Brannagh for the role of Thor?!

[quote] So I'm guessing that is a major source of his depression-he doesn't want to compromise himself

You must be confusing the term compromise with willingly. He may not have been a rentboy, but Manganiello has probably done quite a bit to get ahead in Hollywood.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 8908/02/2013

He has a "hustler" vibe. He would make a fantastic Midnight Cowboy.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 9008/02/2013

There's no way Joe wouldn't fuck to get ahead. He wants fame so much.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 9108/02/2013

Damn you, r90. Now I'm imagining Ratso Rizzo's head on Joe Buck's body. Which pretty much sums up Joe Manganiello. Midnight Cowboy meets Reanimator.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 9208/02/2013

So the Dianne Warkwick bankrupt thread gets more posts than Joe Manganiello's? Too bad.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 9308/03/2013

[quote]Now I'm imagining Ratso Rizzo's head on Joe Buck's body. Which pretty much sums up Joe Manganiello.

Brilliant.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 9408/03/2013

Does anyone remember in 2007 or 2008 when news of a gay stalker sending Joe Manganiello love letters and flowers were reported and Joe went to court to get a restraining order? Articles have been removed from the web. There is no trace of it on the internet now. I think a PR firm got the articles removed. Does anyone have a subscription to a court records website to find out Joe's activity in court?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 9508/04/2013

[quote]Does anyone have a subscription to a court records website to find out Joe's activity in court?

you don't need a subscription....you just have to know where the suits were filed and check that courts website

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 9608/04/2013

I think that Joe just has not had the right part out there for him. He's a huge guy, bigger than most dwarfish stars, and he's very physical. He probably has the stripper type dude parts sent to him, but I think he needs a good solid action movie and then a very physical comedy with a hot chick.

He seems very at ease with comedy and I think he could really pull off a great lead in one that showcased this for him.

The action type movie I am thinking about would of been "This Means War". He would of fit like a glove in that type of movie.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 9708/04/2013

He needs to reduce the muscles if he ever wants to play any kind of "normal" guy.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 9808/04/2013

Joe is known to have one of the biggest cocks in Hollywood, and he uses it all the time to get ahead.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 9908/04/2013

I would like to see him in a buddy movie with Alan Ritchson. They would make a great comedy team/action movie team.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 10008/04/2013

r99 likes to pretend they know stuff

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 10108/04/2013

[quote]I would like to see him in a buddy movie with Alan Ritchson. They would make a great comedy team/action movie team.

Thank you, Alan Ritchson's fan.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 10208/04/2013

Joe is running around Australia for some reason

All of a sudden the paparazzi bothers him

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 10308/04/2013

He works out twice a day, six days a week. The rest of the time he's watching TV or sleeping. When he isn't running from the Paps and pesky autograph hounds. Translation: I am really popular with all the smelly SyFy Fanboi's who go to ComicCon. Sounds like someone isn't getting many call backs. And this bit. TV is more creative and interesting than feature films? Soon, we will hear how he turned down the role of {insert name of your favorite superhero here} because all the really interesting roles are now on cable. Hoo, my sides.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 10408/04/2013

[quote]All of a sudden the paparazzi bothers him

A few years ago, Joe told People mag that the paps were relentlessly pursuing him. He even said that someone put some sort of tracking device on his car [not kidding]. He also has said that he had to move from his apt. because of them.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 10508/04/2013

How so the paparazzi manage to catch him so often when he's walking around shirtless?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 10608/04/2013

r97 Maybe he can play a stripper with some depth, with a heart of gold. I doubt he could even pull that off though.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 10708/04/2013

That's funny because Magic Mike is being developed for Broadway. I bet Joe "I graduated from CMU..." will maneuver himself into the cast.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 10808/04/2013

Maybe Joe's team isn't as bad as I thought. They actually got his name thrown out to the public as one of the frontrunners for the role of Batman. Please.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 10908/04/2013

My god, reading these posts makes it look like Manganiello's closest friends who in reality are his enemies have gathered here to bitch about him.

I actually could picture him as Superman, or as Batman. He's good enough actor to play them, and with right director he might be very successful. He's got certain animal magnetism and danger in him, and that might work really well if channeled correctly. He doesn't look beastly all the time, but can give very friendly vibes, and this I'm getting from watching True Blood. His character was super lovely when he first started in TB.

I have no idea if he's an alcoholic who doesn't get along with other people. But I do understand that he's just trying to get more work. He's thinking about his future, and I'm pretty sure anyone of us would try to land big roles if we had as good chance as he has.

Sure it sounds pretentious to act in interviews like the scheduling of TB is THE reason he didn't get the role of Superman, but then again he's trying to represent himself as a true contender for those kinds of roles, as someone who has star potential. Hollywood is all smoke and mirrors, and Joe is trying to play that game. I really hope that he gets his chance to play bigger roles in films.

As you can see I don't quite understand the hate Manganiello's having here. Alcide is an asshole at the moment in TB, but can that affect you so much? And hey, having a stalker is always a bad thing. I don't understand why some of you are trying to spin it like Manganiello hates gays because of that.

r100 = Joe Manganiello, almost cast as Mighty Mouse

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 11108/04/2013

[quote]My god, reading these posts makes it look like Manganiello's closest friends who in reality are his enemies have gathered here to bitch about him.

Are you new?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 11208/04/2013

I just don't see any basis on this hate fest against him. Sure if he's an asshole in real life à la Chris Brown I'll hate him, but I doubt any of us here know what he's really like. I wouldn't mind seeing him in something else than TB.

Let's face it, if Steven Seagal can have a career as a star in Hollywood then why wouldn't someone like Manganiello who's much hotter and much better actor.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 11308/04/2013

He is a horrible actor. True blood, magic mike...his emotion level is about on par with a infomercial.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 11408/04/2013

[quote] Sure if he's an asshole in real life à la Chris Brown I'll hate him, but I doubt any of us here know what he's really like.

Let me break it down to you, Joe Manganiello cemented his reputation as an asshole long before he got anywhere near Hollywood.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 11508/04/2013

Yeah well, I have no proof of that.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 11608/04/2013

I'm listening to Die Antwoord, because Joe said they were his new favorite musical act. Interesting!

I wonder if Big Joe does party drugs and then goes out clubbing with his pals. I'm imagining him dancing shirtless.

Sigh.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 11708/04/2013

Ah, so Joe also has shitty taste in music.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 11808/04/2013

R110 no one is criticizing Joe for having stars in his eyes, but there is certainly a distinction between saying, "Yeah, I was up for this role" and "I won't watch the movie because it would be like watching someone else have sex with my girlfriend." Entitlement issues, much?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 11908/04/2013

It's considered bad form in Hollywood to discuss roles you could or wouldn't accept, as it displays disrespect to the person who was actually awarded the part.

He's tacky, that's for sure.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 12008/04/2013

Y'all some hating bitches up in here!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 12108/04/2013

R119, yeah well, I'm pretty sure it was just talkshow banter.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 12208/04/2013

You can stop kissing his ass(and yes it is nice ass) any time now r122.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 12308/04/2013

I have to agree with R100. I stopped watching TB years ago but his Alcide was neither here nor there, and you can tell it was mostly the writing. Anyhoo, with good direction I could see him as Superman.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 12408/05/2013

His body is good but his face is too ugly for Superman

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 12508/05/2013

He is just not Superman at all and if he tried to play Batman, it would be unintentionally funny. Sorry, "dude", but you have to accept what parts are within your range.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 12608/05/2013

Joe had a "breakdown" after his first bit of fame in "Spiderman"....I predict another when True Blood ends.....Joe seems like a delicate flower.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 12708/05/2013

How did JM manage to get his name on all the Batman shortlists?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 12808/05/2013

[quote] How did JM manage to get his name on all the Batman shortlists?

Yeah, and Tyler Hoechlin from Teen Wolf was also on that "short list." I wouldn't believe anything until Warners/DC announces it.

Two weeks' ago, both Henry Cavill and Stephen Arnell were supposedly "in talks" with the producers of Fifty Shades of Grey. Yet, Arnell posted on his FB page, that he had no interest in the role.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 12908/05/2013

I hope Amell doesn't find happiness outside Arrow because I love the show. It would be so sad if he left. On top of being great as Oliver Queen Amell is just so hot that it makes watching the show more fun.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 13008/05/2013

Unless he's really throttling back the acting engines in True Blood (and MM), he's just not very good.

Hot body. Able to remember and repeat lines. That's about it. He's going nowhere, folks.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 13108/05/2013

Joe graduated with a degree in theater from CMU, so he obviously has the talent and training. Odds are that he just hasn't found the right vehicle for his particular acting strengths.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 13208/05/2013

R128 I doubt he is or was actually on the short list. He probably auditioned, but had his team spin it into much more. Maybe he'll be able to leverage this to get another role.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 13308/05/2013

He was just interviewed on MTV by some queen who looks like he was about to jizz in his pants from being near him.

I wonder how many roles JM's booked simply because the gay director or producer had a hardon for him.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 13508/05/2013

[quote]Not sure if it is him or the direction, or what. But lots of the True Blood actors such. Stephen Moyer sucks as Bill,

I believe Stephen Moyer has directed some of the episodes.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 13608/05/2013

Moyer has only directed two episodes of True Blood. And only one this season, the season 6 opener, which was quite good. How quickly we forget. With the exception of Steve being turned and coming out as a Gay Vampire American, and the return of Russell Edgington, season five was total shit. The only time the Wolves were interesting was in season 3 when they were hooked on V and did Edgington's bidding. Alcide was a sympathetic character and Joe had good chemistry with Paquin. I'm hoping that next year they are able to give Joe a prominent part in a story that involves all the characters and the hating stops. He just REALLY needs to shut up about roles he almost got cast in. It is disrespectful to the actors who did get cast. Particularly when the movie does less than expected in box office. Like he would have been a bigger draw. There was a time when that was consider gauche. Is it the norm now?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 13708/06/2013

Man of Steel did better than expected at the b.o.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 13808/06/2013

Joe's performance as Alcide reminds me of Pauline Kael's razz of Shelley Duvall as Olive Oyle: He seems oddly miscast in the role he was born to play.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 13908/06/2013

the bitching in this thread is terrific to read.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 14008/06/2013

I was more distracted by him jokingly talk about punching Henry Cavill in the face, which even in that context, is still in poor taste.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 14208/06/2013

He's so bitter, and entitled as fuck for no reason. Going to CMU isn't going to open all the doors. Maybe he should have gone to Yale or NYU instead.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 14308/06/2013

I don't get why he's talking about these superhero roles if he's still contractually obligated to True Blood. One article talked about him being a contender for Batman and in this interview he's talking about Venom. What is the point if he's already committed to TB for six seasons? Yeah and the bitterness and jealousy over Superman is so evident. Not a good look.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 14408/06/2013

He's wooden as an actor - CMU degree or not.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 14508/06/2013

"He stole my BEARD". Do you think that was a freudian slip? Or was it an inside "fuck you" to Cavill? He is obsessed with losing the role of Superman to the point of mental illness. He needs to be glamoured. For realz.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 14608/06/2013

Who the hell knows what his ratched ass was referring to. If anything, he should be pissed at his manager for not negotiating a more favorable contract with HBO. The three leads are all able to get away and make movies - isn't Anna going to be in the new X-Men? Joe's the one who signed his fucking life away to a tv show where he has a whopping five minutes of screen time each episode.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 14708/06/2013

Yeah, Alex has quite a few projects lined up.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 14808/06/2013

He was never going to be Superman. Bitch please! I see no point to his role on TB anymore, where else can they go with Alcide??

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 14908/06/2013

Joe is so pathetic. He's been whining about not being Superman for years now, what a bitch. All actors on tv shows have to give up some projects they they really want to do, but they don't whine about it for the rest of their lives.

Not to mention his ego is out of fucking control. He carries about stickers with his own face on them and throws them out to people, fans or not. What a head case.

I'm pretty sure most of the cast dislikes him (except Kristin Bauer for some unknown reason).

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 15008/06/2013

I don't watch TB, and haven't seen Joe in action. Per the posts, I anticipated a big, dull lug who could hardly string together a coherent sentence. However, he was rather animated and approachable in R141's clip. And handsome. With the right styling I could physically see him as Superman, Batman, or Thor. Acting-wise? Well... Cavill, Bale, and Hemsworth aren't necessarily performing in a Masters Class; thus, Joe could probably hold his own with decent direction and editing. The CGI and set decoration are the main stars in those films, anyway.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 15108/06/2013

[quote]I was more distracted by him jokingly talk about punching Henry Cavill in the face, which even in that context, is still in poor taste.

Did he really say that? LMAO! I would love to see him do that. HC thinks he's so big and tough ever since Superman, but Joe could squash him easily. HC would probably run off crying.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 15208/06/2013

Absolutely R151. Few people who are slamming him here have issues with him that probably originate from their own heads. I don't know, maybe they are sour that their fantasy lover Joe still hasn't contacted them even though they've been sending him love letters for years.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 15308/06/2013

He's not my type at all, too roidy. But as a True Blood fan I've been subjected to his shitty acting and terrible story and whiny interviews for years. He should fall off a cliff or something.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 15408/06/2013

R151, Bale is an Academy Award winning actor, who's screen credits go back to his childhood.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 15508/06/2013

[quote] Joe is so pathetic. He's been whining about not being Superman for years now, what a bitch.

That's the problem, he realizes that TB will soon be coming to a close. While many of his castmates are moving forward in their careers, he isn't. Alex is going to be "Tarzan", and yet, big, built Joe is doing a documentary about male strippers in Dallas?! His ego can't handle it.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 15608/07/2013

R155, I know that Bale has an Oscar, and I don't give a damn if he has won every acting award known to mankind. I wasn't referring to his body of work. My reference was specifically to Batman. Whatever else Bale's done in his career, *that* wasn't the zenith of acting, and I don't believe that his was the definitive interpretation. Somebody else (e.g., Joe) could have worn the cowl. Nolan, CGI, and the event(s) brought in bodies; the actor, less so.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 15708/07/2013

Wow, r151 should be posting in the Psychics to the Rescue thread. He doesn't watch True Blood and has never seen Manganiello in anything else to judge his acting skills, and yet, he can deduce from watching a three minute interview conducted by a fawning fanboi, that Joe would have made a better Batman than Christian Bale. Why, his Uncle Bob could have played Batman and done a better job than Christian Bale. It was all done with smoke and mirrors and set direction and CGI. No talent necessary. I guess that is why Manganiello figures he would have made the definitive Superman. Or Batman, Or Thor. Or Hercules. No talent needed. I may entertain some naughty thoughts about a couple of male cast members on True Blood from time to time but he isn't one of them. I think Luke Grimes is the tits. Manganiello, not so much. He can't act, Blanche. Get over it.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 15808/07/2013

[quote] One article talked about him being a contender for Batman and in this interview he's talking about Venom. What is the point if he's already committed to TB for six seasons?

The point is to make the public and therefore other casting agents think he is in high demand and that he has a broad choice of roles at his disposal. This is a well-known PR tactic. Studios never brag about who they're seeing or considering for a role - it ups the chance that the audience may start clamoring for someone in the role that they don't want or can't pay for.

On the flipside, news of someone "being considered" for a role makes them sound like they're a serious contender for the part, when in reality they may have just sent in a headshot. It only benefits the actor to have the public think they're "being considered" for many roles.

ANY time you see news of an actor being considered for this or that, you can bet it was put there by his/her PR.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 15908/07/2013

does he mean the Brandon Routh Superman?

what role in Ironman? RDJ'S?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 16008/07/2013

I wanted him for the Tommy Lee Jones role in Lincoln but he kept trying to bench press Sally and I was afraid of lawsuits.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 16108/07/2013

Joe, here's what you do:

Volunteer to fuck Melanie Griffith if Antonio Banderas gives you leads on any roles he turns down.

Or...

Reboot "Fantasy Island" again.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 16208/07/2013

Good grief, he's unhinged and delusional.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 16308/07/2013

lol at r163

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 16408/07/2013

Joe will be on The Soup tonight promoting... Something. Himself, I guess.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 16508/07/2013

He also lost out on the parts of Edith Bunker, Joe Buck, and Lucille Ricardo, because TB wouldn't give him time off to build that Time Machine he had envisioned!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 16608/07/2013

He must have the best publicists in Hollywood! The guy gets booked on every fucking talk show, yet NEVER seems to have a project to promote. The Larry King interview took the fucking cake?!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 16708/07/2013

I guess he's the only one they can get to really promote True Blood.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 16808/07/2013

[quote] I guess he's the only one they can get to really promote True Blood.

I guess the rest of the cast aren't famewhores. Anyway, what is there to promote as the season is about to wrap?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 16908/07/2013

But the ugly feet have been forced upon us!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 17008/07/2013

Oops, wrong thread.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 17108/07/2013

Joe was also on Extra for some reason yesterday.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 17208/08/2013

[quote]Good grief, he's unhinged and delusional. by: Sean Young

It would be so great if Joe started making the rounds in a Superman costume.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 17408/08/2013

[quote] It would be so great if Joe started making the rounds in a Superman costume.

That's just too damn funny! I wouldn't doubt it, he resorting to stuffing his pants when he did the press for Magic Mike.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 17508/08/2013

I meant "resorted".

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 17608/08/2013

What's funny is that Joe has been going on for years and years about playing a werewolf when he doesn't even really play one... He just plays a big muscly guy that shifts into a wolf. The guys on Teen Wolf play real werewolves.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 17708/08/2013

R177. He's so invested in that too. I think he really gets off on it when people refer to HIM as a werewolf, rather than "the actor who plays a werewolf on True Blood." I saw one interview where he was asked how he felt about being named fans' most favorite werewolf of all time??!!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 17808/08/2013

Werewolf

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 17908/08/2013

Not a werewolf.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 18008/08/2013

Joe also went on Mario Lopez's radio show yesterday for some reason.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 18108/08/2013

I think you're a bit (or a lot) cruel for Joe. He seems nice and hopefully will find new work after TB.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 18208/08/2013

[quote]He just plays a big muscly guy that shifts into a wolf. The guys on Teen Wolf play real werewolves.

???

A werewolf is a guy or girl who shifts into a wolf.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 18308/08/2013

You should send him a bouquet of flowers, r182. Don't forget to sign the card, "I'm your biggest fan" and include a dic pic. He likes that:)

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 18408/08/2013

R183, werewolves in the usual cinematic/literary depiction, not folklore. Without the supernatural abilities, Alcide is just the watered-down version. Its surprising that he went at Sam, considering that the shifter is the more powerful being.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 18508/08/2013

"Furthermore, my role on True Blood has kept me out of the Unites States Congress, Mensa, the Golden Girls Fan Club, and the States of the Confederate Union. I have also been denied my rightful status as King of Sweden, UN Representative for Argentina, and spokesmodel for the crew of the Star Trek Enterprise. I did get to fuck Matt Bomer in the ass once, so it's all good."

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 18608/09/2013

LOL. Don't forget releasing his highly anticipated debut album.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 18708/09/2013

I doubt Joe fucked around with Bomer. Bomer couldn't do anything for his career.

Simon, on the other hand...

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 18808/09/2013

LOL R187! Nicely done.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 18908/09/2013

R188 There have been rumours that they dated in college but the relationship ended beause of Joe's alcohol problems.

And his mom is also the typical Italian mother who meddles in his son's life, so Joe was never going to be open about his sexuality (he's bisexual), and Matt couldn't deal with that.

All rumours though!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 19008/09/2013

Joe's mother is Armenian-American, but thank you for your contribution, fangirl.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 19108/09/2013

Joe will be on Kelly & Michael this Tuesday... for some reason.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 19308/09/2013

OMG he is such a fucking famewhore!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 19408/09/2013

You bitches making fun of me will regret it as I'm currently working on a cure for cancer and will be announcing it next week on The Steve Harvey Show.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 19508/09/2013

I used to think he was hot, but he is dumb as dirt.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 19608/09/2013

@193, at the rate he's going, he'll be on Oprah's Next Chapter before the year's out. Mark my words.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 19708/09/2013

No way in hell was he beating this beauty for Superman:

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 19808/09/2013

Hillary, you better watch your back!!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 19908/09/2013

His nose has it's own zip code.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 20008/09/2013

^HA!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 20108/09/2013

Yeah, he's certainly a narcissistic douche but you can't read the man's looks. The only unattractive thing about him is his personality.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 20208/09/2013

So, people hating Joe, if Joe gets some major blockbuster role will your heads explode from shock?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 20308/09/2013

"Hate" is a strong word; merely mocking him for his current behavior.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 20408/09/2013

He should team up with Vine Diesel for all of Vin's self announced but unmade movies. The Guys and Dolls remake with Nicole Kidman, The Avengers sequel, and any movie starring a Marvel superhero.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 20508/09/2013

[quote]He should team up with Vine Diesel for all of Vin's self announced but unmade movies. The Guys and Dolls remake with Nicole Kidman, The Avengers sequel, and any movie starring a Marvel superhero.

All happening on Wednesday according to my agent.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 20608/09/2013

Exhibitionism constitutes 75 percent of Joe's acting ability. Yes, he's got a great body and should be proud of it. Don't blame him for wanting to show it off.

But once you put a shirt on him, he looses most of his acting talent.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 20708/09/2013

Why don't people know the difference between lose and loose?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 20808/09/2013

R207, I know him from True Blood, but I think he's been good enough actor with his clothes on, too.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 21208/09/2013

He looks fat and plain with a shirt on.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 21308/09/2013

Just watched Big Joe on THE SOUP. First off, he looks great with the new short hair. Sexy and more youthful. And he was cute in a denim shirt, even if everyone wanted him to rip it off.

Joe's comic talents are under appreciated. He was great with Joel McHale and genuinely funny.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 21408/09/2013

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 21608/09/2013

I don't watch True Blood. Does he actually need that beard? He's a nice-looking guy, but the beard needs to go.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 21708/09/2013

lots of actors need beards

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 21808/09/2013

[quote] Does he actually need that beard? He's a nice-looking guy, but the beard needs to go.

No, he NEEDS that beard. In fact his overall look on True Blood really suits him. His appeal has already diminished somewhat with the short hair (draws the eye right to that nose...). I happened to catch an old episode of HIMYM and was shocked to see how different he looked and different not in a good way. Its like Jennifer Lopez in Selena and Jennifer Lopez in The Wedding Planner.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 21908/09/2013

Will any of the True Blood have careers post True Blood? I doubt it.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 22008/09/2013

Deborah Ann Woll is the most talented of the cast. With the right role she could be the next big thing. Didn't Skarsgard just get cast in The Givers opposite La Streep? Anna Camp was great in Pitch Perfect and with her fantastically over the top turn as Sarah Newlin she should get a lot of attention from casting directors. Carrie Preston has been nominated for an Emmy for her work on The Good Wife. Her character on the show, Elsbeth Tascioni, is a fan favorite. She could star in her own spin off. Kazinsky is really popular with fans of True Blood and Pacific Rim. I'm sure he's taken more than a few meetings. I could definetly see Kristen Bauer in a Tarantino or Robert Rodriguez film. Moyer could go back to England and get cast in one of their many soaps. Ellis has only done small roles in feature films, mostly in films about AA. He plays Martin Luther KIng in The Butler. It's ironic that the Academy Award winner is the least interesting actor of all of them.I love Anna Paquin, and I liked the movie Margaret, but she hasn't done anything of note since being cast in True Blood. Luke Grimes is one of their more interesting casting choices. He looks great and has a pleasing screen presence. Hope he gets a career boost from the show.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 22108/10/2013

[quote]Moyer could go back to England and get cast in one of their many soaps.

Wouldn't that be kind of a come down from TB and America. Agree Woll is great and Preston will probably do well in supporting roles in film and on stage.

Anna Camp is a little non-descript. I never even recognioze her in other things..I think she'll end up like Elizabeth Banks. Skarsgaard will probably do well for a while.

What about Jim Parrack and the guy who played Terry? Did they quit the show?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 22208/10/2013

Both Parrack and Todd Lowe were written off the show. Since they didn't kill off Hoyt I guess the door is open for him to return given that they want to return the show to it's small town roots. I have to say I miss Hoyt and his crazy Mama.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 22308/10/2013

Joe's good looking, but his flat ass is a disappointment.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 22408/10/2013

but did parrack and lowe want to go?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 22508/10/2013

From what I've read, Lowe didn't want to go. He got very emotional at the table read for the episode where Terry meets his end. Parrack may have agreed with Alan Ball's decision because there was no story line for Hoyt once Jessica wanted out of the relationship. Unless you absolutely hate your fellow actors, the writers or the director, why would anyone want to be kicked off a hit show? Actors gotta eat. And True Blood only shoots for six months. Plenty of time for them to do other projects. Unless you are Joe Manganiello. (que a big fucking eye roll!)

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 22608/10/2013

Skarsgård will have the best career once the show ends. Carrie Preston will continue to do well on tv. Anna and Stephen, I don't know, neither of them have done anything quality in their off time, only direct-to-DVD movies or web series. It's weird.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 22708/10/2013

I don't think it's weird. TV still does have stigma. It's okay now to make it as a film actor and then try out a show, but most actors who just make it from being on a show have trouble crossing over to films.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 22808/10/2013

Except Anna Paquin has an Oscar and she only did movies before. But in her free time, instead of pursuing really good meaty roles, she does shit like that movie "Straight A's" with Ryan Phillippe, or some lame heist movie she and Stephen produced together.

Nelsan gets a lot of work in small roles in prestige projects, like The Help, The Butler, and he's going to be in Gods Behaving Badly. Alex as well was in three indie movies this year alone that were all critically well-received.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 22908/10/2013

Can we go back to talking about Joe? This isn't a True Blood thread.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 23008/10/2013

There's nothing left to say about Joe. He's a dumb egotistical lunk head who will spend the rest of his days playing second fiddle in movies you only see on Netflix.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 23108/10/2013

[quote] Skarsgård will have the best career once the show ends.

There's no doubt that Skarsgard will find consistent work but Joe has the potential to land a role that could easily eclipse him and the rest of the cast. There's a whole roster of superhero characters that DC/Marvel/Image/Dark Horse are just waiting to bring to the big screen. I'm sure people were talking smack on Henry Cavill when he would tell them about all the major roles that he lost out on.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 23208/10/2013

Joe is not in the same league as Cavill. The attempted perpetuation of that belief needs to stop.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 23308/10/2013

Joe is like the Henry Cavill of Glendale.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 23408/10/2013

Nobody from this show is going anywhere after this. Sitcoms, maybe.

Joe needs to turn to gay porn. I'm sure he's already rehearsed it in real life. He's the epitome of 'pansexual with herpes' if ever there was one.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 23508/11/2013

Parrack supposedly was unhappy on the show. He felt like he was always relegated to supporting cast status and was upset that he never got perks like being in press photos and or comic con pannels while his peers and even newcomers to the show like Joe did.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 23608/11/2013

I've never seen True Blood and until DL, I'd never heard of this guy, but I love DL's interpretation of him. He's officially the new Sean Young for me.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 23708/11/2013

R237, considering that Joe's only sin against people slamming him here was that he probably didn't answer their blood-written love letters demanding sex I'd say he's pretty far from from Sean Young category.

I still haven't really figured out why these people here hate him so vehemently. They spread completely unfounded rumours about him and try to stir up a feeding frenzy. They also try to make it seem like he can't act at all, but anyone with eyes can see that he has acted just fine in True Blood. We are not talking Ian McKellen here, but let's face it, there aren't that many great actors in Hollywood. There are huge stars like Christian Bale whose acting is many times cringeworthy, but sometimes great. Joe fits just nicely among others in that crowd.

I'm not his biggest fan by all means, but I've nothing against him. When I think of him I see the nice dude he was earlier in True Blood, and I liked him a lot then.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 23808/11/2013

Just because we are viciously mocking him doesn't mean we hate him. I jerked off to him last night, in fact.

You must be new here.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 23908/11/2013

True R 239. If any of the people knocking on him met him in person, they would go weak in the knees.

He is a very talented actor, and he will find his right movie soon. I think he is an undiscovered comedy talent and this would be a great gig for him to be in a comedy movie.

I like him, and he seems like a really nice guy also, not a typical Hollywood ass clown like some that guys here think are so fantastic.

Plus, Joe is perfection of man. He's magnificent.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 24008/11/2013

He's a very talented actor? Please give me an example of him after acting well. TB where all he does is growl and rip off his shirt? Spider Man that he was in for 2 minutes? One Tree Hill where he was some coffee shop dude? HIMYM where he plays some bro dude (who also takes off his shirt unnecessarily)? When he was in What to Expect When You're Expecting (where, AGAIN, all he did was take off his shirt)?

I'm waiting.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 24108/11/2013

The only thing I know about this guy is that I read an interview once where when someone asked what he liked most about his fiance (who I think he dumped as soon as he got on True Blood), he said that she dresses well and is a good cook.

Yeah, that's a douche.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 24208/11/2013

And I have met him in person. He was wearing an Afflicted t-shirt and three giant necklaces and two rings and a leather cuff.

I wanted to punch him.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 24308/11/2013

r240 = Joe's Mom

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 24408/11/2013

What's with all these good looking men who have NO charisma or personality at all? It's so weird.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 24508/11/2013

R245: We live in a beauty-based culture where people can coast through life on their looks. They've never needed personality to get attention.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 24608/11/2013

Joe is a pleasant onscreen personality and brings more character to the screen than say, Kellan Lutz, but through his choice of roles and his PR strategy he's basically cast himself as tits-for-hire and those are the kinds of roles he's going to be offered. There isn't anything that Vin Diesel or the Rock does that Joe couldn't do, but is anyone really going to offer him those roles with the PR image he has cultivated?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 24708/11/2013

R247 always falls in love with people who have borderline personality disorder, or are active in a serious addiction.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 24808/11/2013

[quote] he's basically cast himself as tits-for-hire and those are the kinds of roles he's going to be offered

Well, there aren't many roles like that for men, so that's another inherent limitation.

[quote] There isn't anything that Vin Diesel or the Rock does that Joe couldn't do

Um, no. The Rock has qualities that Joe doesn't - charm, humility and onscreen charisma. He's the type of guy that straight guys admire.

Joe, not so much. He likely has the same effect on straight men as Megan Fox has on women.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 24908/11/2013

Joe has uploaded his acting reel to Youtube!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 25008/11/2013

Longer than I expected, R250.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 25108/11/2013

I think r249 is right. Straight guys don't relate to Joe Manganiello. And he doesn't really appeal to straight women. He looks like the guy you go out of your way to avoid in the parking lot after a night of drinking with the girls. Magic Mike was Soderbergh's wet dream not a straight woman's fantasy. Watching McConaughey's scene with Alex Pettyfer where he "teaches" him how to work the horny housewives was the first time I really thought that McC was gay. He was all OVER that. That wasn't acting. I don't think Joe is gay but he sure looks like a major cocktease. It might win him roles, but it won't put assess in the seats. At least not the ones who go to ComicCon. And that is THE fanbase they are aiming for.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 25208/11/2013

But Magic Mike was a hit r252, and with straight women. Maybe they can remake American Gigolo for Joe. But there's the problem, Joe alone isn't enough. He'll never accept his straight-to-DVD action flick destiny though.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 25308/11/2013

Ok, this is obviously just a theory, but I think that Joe appeals more to gays than any other demographic. I also think that he's aware of it. The topics of male fans and his appeal to men seems to be a reoccurring theme in his interviews.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 25408/11/2013

Straight women went to see Magic Mike, but they didn't like it too much. It only has a 6 rating on IMDB. That's one of the reasons there won't be a sequel.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 25508/11/2013

R254 you are not incorrect. Joe's career's could very well be attributed to the gay & bi men who presumedly want to be fucked by him: Alan Ball, Steven Soderbergh, Jess Cagle, Jaren Eng, the queens who write Vulture...

Let's count how many times Jess Cagle his put him on the cover of Entertainment Weekly... One...

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 25608/11/2013

Two...

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 25708/11/2013

Ryan Seacrest, Andy Cohen....

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 25808/11/2013

Three...

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 25908/11/2013

Four...

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 26008/11/2013

Ooops! Four...

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 26108/11/2013

Ha, there's no way he didn't suck some dick, or play bottom, to get those covers. Why him over Skarsgard, or even Moyer?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 26208/11/2013

Moyer and Skarsgard had their own covers.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 26308/11/2013

Didn't Joe also bitch about not being included on the cover they did for Rolling Stone?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 26408/11/2013

I think he's full of shit. When he got cast as Alcide he said that he had "heard" that a lot of people were throwing his name out for the role. But I believe it was really Michael McMillan who spoke to Alan Ball and got him an audition. They were college roommates at Carnegie Mellon and have remained close friends. Wasn't he a marginal character on One Tree HIll? How many people actually watched that show? Does it seem plausible that he was on the minds of casting directors for that one shitty role? Now he's spinning the same shit about everybody wanting him for franchise making roles in feature films. I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder but how anyone could think that beat up mug could and would have been considered for the lead in Superman is beyond my ken. It's not like we don't have a reference for what Superman is supposed to look like. He's very handsome in the comics. Christopher Reeve was the perfect Superman. At best, Manganiello could play one of the next supervillain's henchmen and be believable.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 26508/12/2013

I've never seen his show and everything I know about him comes from DL. I'm now a huge fan of DL's version of him.

I love DL Joe.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 26608/12/2013

DL Joe is SO much more fun than the real one that 'real Joe' should turn himself over to us for a makeover gangbang.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 26708/12/2013

R265, that story always sounded like bullshit to me too. If there is any validity to it all, its because he prompted his OTH fans to publicly rally behind him for the Alcide role. As for Superman, I think he and his people really went overboard. That's why he's trying so desperately to save face now. He realizes that he made himself look like a fucking fool. There's a couple of True Blood S3 episodes where it looks like he has a spitcurl. Not kidding.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 26808/12/2013

Joe came to my attention because of his famewhoring. He was campaigning for a role in The Hunger Games. A bunch of actors were and they all got made fun of for it.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 26908/12/2013

Also courtesy of Jess Cagle

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 27008/12/2013

I just watched r250's YouTube clip of DL Joe. It is not to be missed. Just don't blink.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 27108/12/2013

[quote]He was campaigning for a role in The Hunger Games

Excuse me??? WRONG! Scheduling, scheduling scheduling!!!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 27208/12/2013

Joe's whining has not gone unnoticed in other quarters

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 27308/12/2013

Jesus Christ, just give this poor bastard the Batman role in the next movie, so he can stop whining.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 27408/12/2013

Maybe he'll be Batman in the next animated series if he's lucky.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 27508/12/2013

Oh, and you just know if he does get that part and the role requires animosity towards Superman, that shit will be real coming from Joe.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 27608/12/2013

As I'm making dinner, I heard a promo for that Kelly Ripa and Joe's going to be a guest tomorrow. Now normally, I'd just ignored it as I'd have no clue who he was, but because of DL, I actually chuckled.

Cheers!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 27708/12/2013

[quote] Joe goes on to say that he was so sure he'd get the part, that he'd even talked to Snyder about a possible new angle he could bring to the story. Manganiello, it seems, had given this a lot of thought and really wanted to be a part of the reboot of the Superman franchise.

Oh my, now he's a writer too? The hubris is hysterical.

Without a doubt, this generation's Sean Young. Minus the talent. But bigger tits.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 27808/12/2013

I also had an idea for Jimmy Cameron to have the boat NOT hit the iceberg, but our schedules... ya know.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 27908/12/2013

Having his mouth wired shut would be the best career move.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 28008/12/2013

In Joe's reworking of the Superman character, Jor-El is now named Jor-Eldrassian, and instead of being a Kryptonian scientist, he runs a successful wholesale jewelry business in the Valley.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 28108/12/2013

I didn't see MoS, but I'd sure as hell see that version, R281. Love it!

Sick of the Heartland bullshit, esp. when we all know KS is a fucked up place and exemplifies anything but "heart."

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 28208/12/2013

R282 = full of fail

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 28308/12/2013

Joe gave an extremely lengthy interview to "Collider" for no particular reason.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 28408/18/2013

The last paragraph in that interview is hilarious. He just can't stahp himself.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 28508/18/2013

[quote]There are certainly some other directors, who I’ve met with over the years, that I didn’t get to work with because of my schedule on True Blood.

Has he been reading this site?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 28608/18/2013

R285 True Blood is holding him back!!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 28708/18/2013

He wound up with Sookie. Now that's just fitting punishment.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 28808/18/2013

In a shocking revelation, Joe Manganiello reveals that he's no longer happy tearing off his shirt and growling.

He does look smashing in dark purples, one must admit.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 28909/01/2013

Joe's expanded acting reel

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 29009/01/2013

So, he's still complaining about True Blood? He was unhappy with his story this year and his limited use on the show. Now it sounds like they are going to give him a major story line next year with the Bill/Sookie/Alcide love triangle and he's still bitching. Of course, that will mean sex scenes wtih Paquin. More growling and taking off his clothes. Poor Joe. Be careful what you ask for. And not one word or comment by him on Affleck being picked to play Batman. Ha!.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 29109/01/2013

Move on, bitch

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 29209/01/2013

This is actually a really good look for him. But he'd look out of place anywhere but the late 80s.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 29309/02/2013

In case anyone is confused by Joe's egomaniacal ramblings, it's important to note that he went to Carnegie Mellon...and Carnegie Mellon students/grads are the WORST when it comes to pretending they're much better/smarter/interesting than they truly are. I had to work with one of these assholes for 3 years and everyone would laugh at how out of touch with reality he was.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 29409/02/2013

[quote]Carnegie Mellon students/grads are the WORST when it comes to pretending they're much better/smarter/interesting than they truly are.

LOL, I heard another one who used to call himself an "artist".

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 29509/02/2013

[quote]I had to work with one of these assholes for 3 years and everyone would laugh at how out of touch with reality he was.

They are like Joey in Friends. Matt LeBlanc was brilliant.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 29609/02/2013

Which one of you bitches works at CNN?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 29709/02/2013

Yumpin Yimminy, he needs to shut up and just act. The bad news, Joe: You have become a laughing stock on national television with all yer bitchin' about that six month cushy job you have. The good news, Joe: no one watches CNN. Why do TPTB at True Blood have such a hard on for this guy? I think Moyer and Paquin have a lot of say as to who gets hired and who gets to stay. Why get rid of Kazinsky, who most fans liked, and keep this ass clown? Joe obviously has the knack of kissing the ass, while biting the hand that feeds him, down pat.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 29809/02/2013

Joe is clean shaven now, he looks... really Italian.

I guess as long as they make mob movies, he'll have a career in Hollywood.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 29909/05/2013

Joe looks like there's all sorts of crazy behind those eyes.

Looks like something violent back there that he's barely able to contain.

He may have a great body, but I wouldn't want to be with the man when he was drunk.

Would have serious reservations about hiring him unless he was absolutely perfect for the job.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 30009/05/2013

He is so fug without the beard.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 30109/07/2013

I could see him as Superman in R299's pics. That's definitely the first time. His eyes are usually too squinty and his nose too hooked. Then again I don't think Cavill has Supe's face either.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 30209/07/2013

Joe unveiled his book cover today.

I might buy it for the pictures.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 30309/07/2013

[quote] He is so fug without the beard.

I agree, underneath that facial hair, he's just an average looking Italian guy. But I don't know why he looks like he had a lip reduction.

R303, that cover picture has been photoshopped to hell and back.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 30409/07/2013

It's not photoshopped too much, that's a look they achieved by covering his body with baby oil and using silver reflectors.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 30509/07/2013

R305 really, is that all?! He didn't seem to have all that definition in his Men's Health and Muscle Fitness editorials.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 30609/07/2013

Is it just me or does his head look too big for his body in that pic? Like they superimposed his head on someone else's body.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 30709/07/2013

Joe talks to another queen in heat, bitches about his True Blood schedule about a minute and a half in.

He is very charismatic in interviews, I was surprised that I watched the whole thing.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 30809/13/2013

Good lord, he does give out stickers with his picture on it.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 30909/13/2013

R304, I couldn't get past the part when he began talking shit on Brando's "Streetcar" performance. That and the fact that he's really not all that without the facial hair and faux tan.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 31009/13/2013

He wasn't talking shit about Brando, he was pointing out that Brando did unconventional things onstage and that added to the performance.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 31109/13/2013

Definitely looks hotter with the beard.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 31209/13/2013

Joe attended the launch of McDonald's Mighty Wings for some reason.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 31309/16/2013

He's also planning on attending the opening of a letter later this week

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 31409/16/2013

Aren't you little bit of too harsh on Joe. He isn't that terrible at all. He looks very good, he acts ok in TB.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 31509/16/2013

How sly of him to try and get in front of the inevitably poor reviews, and the comparison to Brando, by stating that his performance is going to be very different because Brando put his own spin on the character and did not play Stanley the way Williams wrote him. Does he really believe his own bullshit or is he just delusional? No one is going to that play to see a great thespian. They are going to see him take his shirt off in the flesh. I bet there will be a huge twink presence in the audience as well as over weight fan girls. He is not going to be a big action star. He will be doing commercials for Bowflex in a couple of years. And guest starring on unfunny sitcoms as the big, dumb gym rat or gym instructor that everyone lusts after. Yawn.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 31609/16/2013

[quote] No one is going to that play to see a great thespian. It would just kill you bitter, bitch haters if Joe actually got a Tony nod for this.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 31709/16/2013

You can't win a Tony for a play in New Haven.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 31809/16/2013

Why, I'll eat my Fangtasia t-shirt if he wins a Tony, r317. With ketchup. And I will wash it down with a cup of my bitter bitch tears.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 31909/16/2013

[quote] You can't win a Tony for a play in New Haven.

Well, whatever the hell the award equivalent in Connecticut is, what if he receives a nomination? Did it ever occur to you that he just might be a damn good stage actor? Need I remind you that he was trained at CMU?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 32009/16/2013

[all posts by ham-fisted troll a removed.]

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 32109/16/2013

I thought Joe was pretty wooden even in that Magnum ice cream commercial.

When True Blood is over, I see him and Jason Momoa competing for the same parts.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 32209/18/2013

Manganiello is Stanley Kowalski!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 32309/18/2013

hmmm

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 32409/18/2013

Don't know what it is, but his mouth looks really unappealing.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 32509/18/2013

Can't wait for the reviews. I bet the critics go easy on him.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 32609/18/2013

The most recent EW has shirtless Joe featured on "Bullseye" saying he needs to be cast in the Tom of Finland movie.

Poor Joe! He really is just eye candy for the gays, isn't he?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 32709/19/2013

Joe talked to "Elle" for some reason.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 32809/25/2013

True Blood has one season left. He's probably all ready looking for a new gig and is doing publicity to keep his name out there.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 32909/25/2013

He's been doing publicity for publicity's sake. But what I don't understand is how he continually manages to get interviews with all these media outlets when he has nothing to promote or anything noteworthy to discuss. He's pushing forty and yet he continually references CMU. He talks about his role in Magic Mike more than Channing Tatum, and he was barely in the film.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 33009/26/2013

Joe's "Streetcar" opens today. I can't wait to read the reviews.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 33109/26/2013

Joe wanted to play both Blanche and Stanley but his TB schedule kept him from having time to memorize both set of lines.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 33209/26/2013

R332 and also wanted to direct, produce, and rewrite the script but that damn demanding TB schedule.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 33309/26/2013

Can someone tell me what the ham-fisted troll deal @ R321 is?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 33409/26/2013

r334

He kept making meat-based comments ("That's a bunch of bologna!" etc.)

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 33509/26/2013

Joe had an audience member at yesterday's performance. $10 bucks says he put the person up to do it.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 33609/26/2013

I don't think it is ever justified to break character. Theater management should identify the people with the cameras and video phones and deal with them during intermission. People with real jobs like firemen, cops and nurses multitask and deal with multiple crises and perform heroic deeds with chaos and mayhem happening all around them. The stuff of real human drama. He has to remember a few lines in a play and pretend to be someone else. Sounds like the initial feedback for his portrayal of Stanley is less than stellar and he's feeling the pressure. Plus, he spends a great deal of time on social media and has probably been reading the less than kind comments about his endless self-promotion and constant bitchin' about True Blood. Not to mention he got called out and dissed on CNN for that very thing.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 33709/26/2013

I also think it was unprofessional and inconsiderate to his fellow actors for Joe to break character. The photographer couldn't have been but so disruptive or else the ushers and/or theater management would have approached him. So how distracting was it? Was he using a Polaroid circa 1978? A better actor would have simply ignored it, which is a testament of true skill. It makes me wonder if Joe had flubbed his lines at some point and got nervous or frustrated and then reacted.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 33809/26/2013

Let me amend my opinion at r337. If someone in the theater became violently ill or was having a heart attack or stroke then of course the play would have to be stopped to allow first aid to be rendered. A ringing cell phone would be a real distraction and might affect an actors concentration and calling attention to it while staying in character is considered not only justified but clever. Still, management should deal with the person during intermission and refuse to allow that person to stay if they refuse to hand over the phone for the duration of the play. Apparently, Joe is neither clever enough nor professional enough to carry on without having a self indulgent snit fit.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 33909/26/2013

He's going to have a helluva time when they start throwing the tomatoes!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 34009/26/2013

Joe stopped the show!! WHO THE HELL DOES I THINK HE IS!!!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 34109/26/2013

So where can one find the reviews for this play?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 34209/26/2013

It was totally staged. Who takes on a heckler by tweeting during intermission?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 34309/26/2013

You know you wanted to see this pic...

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 34409/29/2013

Oh, look at me! I pasted Joe's head onto Pete Kuzack's body! I'm such a dickens!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 34509/29/2013

Ok, so where are the reviews for his eagerly anticipated return to the stage?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 34609/29/2013

Joe got panned by the NY Times.

[quote]Part of the problem, regrettably, is the leading man. Mr. Manganiello — who has built a devoted fan base as the powerful, sexy, frequently bare-chested werewolf Alcide on HBO’s supernatural drama series “True Blood” — looks handsome onstage and delivers his dialogue competently, but that’s about it. No one expects him to equal Brando’s Stanley Kowalski, but other actors have at least brought some passion, some anger, some of the man’s pain to their characterizations, if not all three. When Mr. Manganiello’s Stanley tells Blanche, “We’ve had this date from the beginning” in the play’s most menacing scene, he might as well be talking about dinner and a movie.

[quote]Mr. Manganiello’s fans hoping to see his impressive pectoral and abdominal muscles in person will not be disappointed. Those assets are not hidden, as admirers might fear, by the sweaty T-shirt that is Stanley’s fashion signature; Mr. Manganiello goes shirtless part of the time.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 34710/06/2013

Joe is probably pissed that True Blood kept him from securing the role of Ryan Stone in Gravity!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 34810/06/2013

Eventually, I'm sure he'll blame his TB schedule from preventing him to properly prepare for the role. And he'll make up for this misstep by promoting his upcoming workout book all the more.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 34910/06/2013

The photos for the book aren't too flattering. He should have used Mario Lopez's photographer.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 35010/09/2013

Apparently he needs to spend more time working on his acting muscles.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 35110/09/2013

[quote] The photos for the book aren't too flattering. He should have used Mario Lopez's photographer.

I'm sure there'll be dozens more, including outtakes from the shoot, a "making of" video, Blu-Ray/DVD release, commercials, talk show appearances, a book tour, an audio book release, a stint as a guest star trainer on The Biggest Loser, and more promotional ties-ins than on Madonna's last world tour.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 35210/09/2013

r351 Joe would have spent more time working on his acting muscles but his schedule from True Blood prevented it.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 35310/09/2013

I would have invested in the role emotionally but I was too busy with TB.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 35410/09/2013

Here comes the book tour.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 35510/10/2013

LMAO over the Gallery Books tweet! I really wonder how many people will actually show up to get their picture taken with Joe's lifesize cardboard cutout?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 35610/10/2013

R355, I told ya'.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 35710/10/2013

Joe wrote a book!!! In ink!!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 35810/12/2013

So Joe, the role of Christian Grey is back up for grabs. Think you can find time in your schedule to campaign for it?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 35910/15/2013

I would bet that Joe already tried and was promptly turned down for the role. Although, I wonder just how desperate the producers may become given the recent turn of events.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 36010/15/2013

Manganiello - 50 Shades

Sounds like a win/win proposition right now.

He's likely to be available soon, and they need a hunky "actor" yesterday.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 36110/15/2013

He'd probably be considered too "ethnic".

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 36210/15/2013

Joe will not be available as he is preparing to play Malala in a Broadway production about the Pakistani girl's life.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 36310/15/2013

R363 lol!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 36410/15/2013

It would be a win-win situation. Manganiello would be all too happy to sign on to this train wreck and proudly promote it like he's RDJ in Ironman.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 36510/15/2013

What if he has tiny meat and full frontal is non-negotiable?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 36610/15/2013

[quote] What if he has tiny meat and full frontal is non-negotiable?

Joe did a play a few years ago, where he did full frontal. Also there was some gossip from the Pittsburgh theater scene about Joe not being the least bit shy about constantly showing his endowments. So either he's got the goods or he's completely delusional.

I wish someone would post pics and let us decide.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 36710/15/2013

Joe is releasing sea turtle hatchlings in Mexico for some reason.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 36810/24/2013

lol I was thinking about posting that, but then I didn't have the will to come up with some witty "Joe's schedule on True Blood...." line.

How pathetic though, having a resort pay for your vacation so they can take pictures of you with baby turtles and sell them to E!.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 36910/24/2013

R368/369. I saw that on E! too. The story seemed random, odd and overdone. At first it read like a travel guide then segued into some bullshit about baby turtles. I didn't understand the point of it at all.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 37010/25/2013

Hurry up into the water, you little fucks! I have a schedule!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 37110/25/2013

Joe has a book coming out soon all about his body and how you can get one like that too!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 37210/25/2013

The two comments below the article sound like they were written by D.L.family members. It's nice to know that he and E! aren't fooling anyone. I think he'd make a fabulous Sebastian Venable.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 37310/25/2013

R371 thanks for the lulz. I dare someone to post that comment on E!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 37410/25/2013

OMG, Joe used to be a dime! But his looks are seriously starting to fall off. What the hell is happening?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 37510/25/2013

When you're supercut it's easy to lose too much fat - it shows big time in the face.

Anyway, once his schedule lightens, Joe will have time to have some fillers.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 37610/25/2013

He looks exactly the same.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 37710/25/2013

No, he doesn't and its not the haircut and shave. He looks much older for someone who's only thirty-six. Google his pics from this time last year, there's a notable difference in his face.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 37810/25/2013

Uh, it probably has to do with shaving his beard.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 37910/25/2013

Actually, shaving off that thick salt & pepper beard would make him look younger.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 38010/25/2013

Joe is using the American flag as a scarf for some reason.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 38111/13/2013

What the hell is up with his hair?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 38211/13/2013

Its fake. Seriously, he's been wearing pieces/weaves intermittently for the past few years. His hair is thinning really bad at the crown.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 38311/14/2013

I love Joe but I am so not loving the off-center wing thing going on with his hair. He looks ridiculous.

Either grow it out again or keep it neat and much shorter.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 38411/14/2013

It looked fine a few days ago. He just had it combed back and shaped on the sides. But since he's starting to do the promotion for his book, I guess he decided to "fancy" it up.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 38511/14/2013

I would love to see him with radically short hair AND facial hair. He'd probably look really hot.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 38611/14/2013

r381 I just noticed the giant ass gaudy ring he's wearing in those pictures. He's so fucking tacky.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 38711/14/2013

R386. Didn't he rock that look on One Tree Hill? Personally, I think he looks best the way he did on S3/S4 of True Blood. The not too long hair and not too heavy beard balances the rest of his face out rather nicely.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 38811/14/2013

[quote]Is it just me or does his head look too big for his body in that pic [cover of his book]? Like they superimposed his head on someone else's body.

It's not just you, that photo is somehow *off*.

And the extreme silvery-ness [is that a word? lol] of it adds to the creep factor. He looks like an alien!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 38911/15/2013

What it Joe up to today?

What is he thinking about right now?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 39011/18/2013

Joe will be on Dr. Oz on Friday!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 39111/18/2013

Lucky Dr. Oz.

I want Joe on ME!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 39211/18/2013

R391 Hot pic.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 39311/18/2013

Joe needs a big showcase. Remake of Kind Hearts & Coronets?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 39411/18/2013

There are some new pics of Joe (and his girlfriend) on Just Jared. His hair looks as if its been shaved off on both sides. Odd.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 39511/18/2013

Joe goes on Rachel Ray and teases that he is going to remove his shirt, and the audience of fat housewives, overdressed millennials and gay men who should know better, goes crazy.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 39612/09/2013

[quote] Joe goes on Rachel Ray and teases that he is going to remove his shirt, and the audience of fat housewives, overdressed millennials and gay men who should know better, goes crazy.

Ten bucks says before the month's end, he does the same thing on Wendy Williams, Bethanny, and The Talk.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 39712/10/2013

Damn, the other day his book was actually sold out on Amazon. So how many of you bitches bought it?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 39812/12/2013

Last season Joe was on "Talking Dead." His statements were along the lines of "Well...yeah...The Governor...mean. Rick...could be a gooder leader. Herschel....old wise man. Darryl..bad muthafucker. Carol...lesbo. Little Asian fella...needs to work on his glutes. Maggie...I'd um....yeah..hit it. Carl....gonna be a badass." In other words, he just should have sat there flexing. It would have been better. Only Marilyn Manson was worse.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 39912/12/2013

Really?! I didn't see the episode. But I had read somewhere that Walking Dead (and other comic) fans were quite impressed with Joe and his knowledge of those graphic novels. He is a major comic book nerd.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 40012/12/2013

I want to fuck this guy

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 40112/12/2013

Joe is on the cover of Muscle and Fitness again

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 40212/13/2013

r401 why? Are you into guys who preen and flex while you fuck them?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 40312/14/2013

This is my most favorite DL thread. Ever.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 40412/14/2013

He looks so stupid. Can't stand this guy.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 40512/14/2013

I wonder if he's already gotten his 2014 planner.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 40612/14/2013

Joe's schedule will permit him to appear on The Talk this Monday.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 40712/14/2013

Joe went to an exhibition called "Superman is Dead"

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 40812/15/2013

Joe on the Talk. part 1:

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 40912/16/2013

Part 2 (working out with the ladies):

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 41012/16/2013

His legs are surprisingly skinny!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 41112/16/2013

They are R411, along with a relatively flat ass makes him disappointing from the waist down.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 41212/16/2013

Joe will be signing books at the Grove tomorrow!!! (if his True Blood schedule allows that is.....)

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 41312/16/2013

It doesn't get any better when he opens his mouth either, r405.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 41412/16/2013

Its just amazing that he can spend so much time in the gym, and yet under work the entire lower half of his body. Anyway, I think that he's on the right track with focusing on fitness as a secondary career, rather than just as a tool to maintain his image. I think he could be more successful as a celebrity fitness guru than an actor.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 41512/16/2013

R415, Joe will never be happy until he is granted the movie stardom he deserves!

He's like Miss Piggy on HGH.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 41612/16/2013

He is 6 foot 5. Big guy.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 41712/16/2013

[quote] Its just amazing that he can spend so much time in the gym, and yet under work the entire lower half of his body.

Isn't that what most gym guys do?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 41812/16/2013

He needs to ditch that horrible beard though. He looks much better without it. A goatee would be acceptable too.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 41912/17/2013

[all posts by childish idiot removed]

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 42012/19/2013

He looks better clean shaven

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 42112/19/2013

Joe's True Blood schedule strikes again!

Why, True Blood schedule, why?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 42201/09/2014

Marsden replacing Paul Walker makes sense. Joe Manganiello even being remotely considered for such a role, does not.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 42301/09/2014

And yet Alex Skarsgaard, who has a much bigger role on True Blood, is able to get work. Hmmm. And what role are we supposed to believe he had to turn down in Thor? Thor? Odin? Loki? Jane? He doesn't exactly come off as Norse God of Thunder, even though he has the brawn, nor does he project the intelligence needed in the Norse God of Mischief.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 42401/09/2014

Hercules is the only character I could see him being seriously considered to play. He even bares a resemblance to Steve Reeves. I'm scratching my head over the Kellan Luzt casting.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 42501/09/2014

Big Joe bump.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 42604/01/2014

Well, he is in the new Malick movie. And supposedly he wasn't even cut of it.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 42704/01/2014

What are you talking about? His name is nowhere on the IMDB listing for that movie. Plus, he or one of his people is doing something to his IMDB board to make it look like he is the lead in a bunch of movies that I don't think he is attached to in anyway, shape or form.

I am sure he is nervous about where his career is going with TB ending and he only has a stripper sequel to look forward to, but that just reeks of desperation to seem like he is really busy and sought after by studios, directors and producers when he really isn't. He also needs to stop opening begging for major movie roles. I have never seen an actor do that and win the role. All that should be done behind the scenes. That is what agents and managers are paid to do.

It didn't help that he crawled up Arnold's but to promote himself and that flop movie they did. I knew it was bad when none of the other known actors could be bothered to promote it. Not to mention both of them dancing on BET for attention.

Maybe he thinks Arnold would get him a part in the next Terminator movie?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 42804/05/2014

Oops! His name is still on the list. But I with Malick I will believe he is in it when I see it. Even if he is in it, Malick is known for cutting big name actors out of movies all the time. Plus, what is his role in it? I know it is not bigger than Fassbender's or Gosling's role or the other A-list people in the cast.

I also stand by the fact that he has a bunch of movies on his page that he clearly is not in at all. Where is the reporting about them? You know he would not wait to talk about them if he was heading all these movies, and it would make waves with the trades.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 42904/05/2014

Wasn't there an actor who was cut from a Malick film & the poor guy didn't even know that he was cut until the premiere? Talk about brutal. Can you imagine if that happened to Joe? He would go into a 'roid rage on the red carpet.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 43004/05/2014

When I looked on imdb there was an article in which Joe said that he made the cut. I am sure he will try to milk it like a prize winning dairy cow, but the movie was shot over two years ago and I can't believe him having some juicy part rivaling all the other A-listers in the move like Bale, Blanchette, and Portman. He will act like it is, but just like Magic Mike, I am sure he is just window dressing. That might work with that movie, but I don't see the real actors going that kind of famewhore behavior Joe is prone to having.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 43104/05/2014

Well he's only credited for the premiere episode of the new season of TB, so that's that!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 43204/10/2014

Is Jess Cagle the editor of both People and EW?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 43405/04/2014

People now, he left EW

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 43505/04/2014

Big Joe reminds me of that hairless Pakistani Russian guy that DL is always drooling over.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 43605/04/2014

It is interesting that he was not a guest of HBO since they always have a table and decent representation at this event every year. Instead he goes as guest of a celebrity tabloidish magazine in which one of the editors is clearly in love with his body...hmm...sound like someone got the boot. Did he think his bad mouthing would not get back to TPTB?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 43705/05/2014

Is Joe even still under contract with TB/HBO? I haven't checked IMDB, but someone said that he's only credited for first episode of the new season. So if that's the case, he's done with them. Or rather they're done with him. Oh and I strongly believe that he's fucking Jess Cagle.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 43805/05/2014

If that is true about the one espisode, then wow! But Imdb is not always accurate. Even if it is the end of his contract, why would you poison the well over there? McBongo has done all his tv projects with them and so has Skarsgard. HBO is the gold standard for cable tv (followed by AMC, Showtme and FX) and looks very good on the resume. You want to keep a good relationship with them for future projects and I noticed that if they like you, they keeping finding work for their favorites when I see them pop up on different shows on HBO. It doesn't hurt that Warner Brothers studio owns HBO. Synergy and all that.

Maybe he thinks he will have some big film career and does not need to be bothered?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 43905/05/2014

I really don't get why Joe hasn't had a more successful career. He's a good looking guy who comes off as very driven. He maintains a relatively high media profile, even when he has no projects to promote. He's made some good connections. So what's the deal?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 44005/10/2014

Allegedly he's difficult to work with.

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 44105/10/2014

R440 He's ethnic!

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 44205/10/2014

So the bisexual rumours are true?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 44305/10/2014

He has no charisma in front of the camera R440?

You can get away with not having real acting talent as long as you are charismatic. Joe doesn't really have either.

All he really has is a look, he has done well for himself all things considered.

With his busy, busy life, what exactly does Joe's daily schedule look like?

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 44707/17/2014

Scream Queens bump

by Simon Halls's Brass Knucklesreply 45001/18/2015

The clip with Conan at R446 is silly. It's so obviously scripted ("Joe: "Pillage your village." Like he made that up on the spot?) and crafted to play into the cliché of the intellectual (Conan) trying to play in the big guy's sandbox. This is catering to the dumbest people in the audience.

Joe should raise his sights. He is a very good-looking guy and, if not the most charismatic actor, he can handle his dialogue well enough. He doesn't need to keep pushing the stripper thing. There are other roles he can play--sidekick parts in romantic comedies, maybe.
