Are conservatives embarrassed by the whole attempt to get Clinton with the Lewinsky scandal?

You never, ever, ever hear them mention it anymore--not even Matt Drudge, who made his career through it.

They seem to have forgotten how much they used to hate Clinton. Either that, or they're embarrassed how puritanical it made them seem.

Republicans aren't embarrassed by anything. They're too stupid for that.

We'll hear about it again as they try to stop Hillary.

by Anonymousreply 107/30/2013

Expecting Republicans to express regret is like expecting Ellen to take a cock.

by Anonymousreply 207/30/2013

What R1 and R2 said.

OP, they haven't been embarrassed by anything they do. In a civilized society where education is valued, these people would be shunned and made to feel shame for their level of ignorance.

Instead, they're employed by FOX and CNN.

[quote]Are conservatives embarrassed ...

A theoretical impossibility.

by Anonymousreply 407/30/2013

They hardly remember. They always fly by the seat of their pants. They'll lie and say whatever to gain power. Once they do, that faux issue is forgotten.

by Anonymousreply 507/30/2013

But since they don't refer to it at all anymore, they seem to admit tacitly (if not explicitly) that it is something to be ashamed about, no? Or at the very least that complaining about Bill Clinton would be a non-starter these days.

I compare it with Jimmy Carter's presidency. For years after Carter left office the Republicans would always refer back to him as something to be ashamed of; but there was no comparable scandal when he was in office, and they never tried to impeach him the way they did Clinton. But they never say mean things about Bill Clinton anymore.

I think they te dying for Hillary Clinton to run for president so they can crucify her after pleading for her to be a candidate and making nice to her.

by Anonymousreply 707/30/2013

I say stop the homos and their fat girl BFFs from ever giving a Lewinsky again.

by Anonymousreply 807/30/2013

They are constitutionally unable to experience emotions such as embarrassment, shame and empathy. Hmm, what does that sound like?

by Anonymousreply 907/30/2013

There are plenty of Pubbie morons who invade DL with talk about Clinton and Lewinsky. It comes up here on a regular basis.

by Anonymousreply 1008/01/2013

Clinton's penis!!

by Anonymousreply 1108/01/2013

Congressional Republicans were *badly* burned when public sentiment turned strongly against them during the years they spent on the Clinton witch hunt. Voters were *strongly* opposed to the efforts to impeach Clinton, particularly as truths became known that some of the most anti-Clinton Republicans, e.g. Orrin Hatch, were later found to have not only cheated on their wives, but in some cases fathered children out of wedlock. Orrin tried explaining it away as a "youthful dalliance," but moderates and Democrats didn't buy it. It's most likely the reason why the Democrats maintained control (albeit barely) over the House. This is also part of the reason the Dems have steadfastly refused to consider any attempt to oust Bush or try him for war crimes.

Also, it's old news at this point, plus Americans know the GOP will go after the Clintons once again is Hillary decides to run for pres.

by Anonymousreply 1308/01/2013

um...they have been talking about it all the time what with Weiner and Huma

by Anonymousreply 1408/01/2013

A little, actually.

by Anonymousreply 1508/01/2013

Hatch, r12? I don't think so. Might you be thinking of Henry Hyde?

by Anonymousreply 1608/01/2013

It was Henry Hyde r12 was thinking of. He was that big fat bastard who was the ringleader of the Clinton Impeachment. He died a few years later.

A lot of those old conservatives (both in gov't and the general public) who went apeshit over the Clintons in the 90s have either died off or are shitting their diapers now. By 2016 even more of them will be gone. The days of Bill and Hillary Clinton evoking apopleptic fits from Republicans are nearly over because the most vocal right-wingers who raised the most hell are going, going gone.

by Anonymousreply 1708/01/2013

Haven't you learned anything OP? It is impossible to embarrass a conservative.
