Weiner: I won't withdraw, not even for the Clintons

July 30

No one can convince Anthony Weiner to drop out of the New York City mayoral race, not even Bill or Hillary Clinton. But he still has “enormous respect” for the couple, he said Tuesday.

“Let me make it very clear. I’ve got an enormous respect for the Clintons. They’ve been enormous friends to my wife and my family,” Weiner told reporters during a stop in upper Manhattan. There’s “no intent to disrespect.” But, he said, “what I’ve been trying to make clear is that what is important to me in this race is the ideas that animated me to run.”

Weiner’s wife, Huma Abedin, is a longtime aide to Hillary Clinton who drew on her connections to marshal support for her husband’s campaign. On Monday evening, asked whether he would quit if asked to do so by the former president and secretary of state, Weiner said he was “not terribly interested in what people who are not voters in the city of New York have to say.” The Clintons live in Westchester County, a suburb.

The Clintons have never been happy with Weiner’s quest for political redemption. But since the ex-congressman admitted to sexting after resigning from Congress, Clinton allies have been vocal (if largely anonymous) in their criticism of his continued presence in the race and Abedin’s defense of his campaign.

by Anonymousreply 307/30/2013

you ain't gonna win you ugly

by Anonymousreply 407/30/2013

He's such an embarrassment to the city. I bet he's sexting some lonely and single 27 year old chick right this second.

by Anonymousreply 507/30/2013

That headline should read:

"Breaking: Weiner Won't Pull Out"

by Anonymousreply 607/30/2013

Good. The longer he stays in the race, the more humiliated he will be when he loses.

by Anonymousreply 707/30/2013

Weiner is a Weiner who continues to embarrass himself. Does he really think he's above it all, that we should just ignore everything in the past, and what he's still doing?

by Anonymousreply 807/30/2013

[quote]Good. The longer he stays in the race, the more humiliated he will be when he loses.

by Anonymousreply 907/30/2013

He won't pull out of the race until everybody in the U.S. has seen his dick.

by Anonymousreply 1007/30/2013

That Leathers sexting gal toward Howard Stern that Weiner is just a needy little bitch who constantly needs his ego stroked.

by Anonymousreply 1107/30/2013

"I won't withdraw, not even for the Clintons"

That damned Monica Lewinsky ignored a similar request. .

by Anonymousreply 1207/30/2013

Weiner reminds me of those troll dolls.

by Anonymousreply 1307/30/2013

0h man, this guy is far gone. Sending a big fuck you to the Clintons is a good way to seal his fate FOREVER.

by Anonymousreply 1407/30/2013

When was she interviewed by Howard Stern, R11?

by Anonymousreply 1507/30/2013

She talked to Stern today.

Link has some of what she said.

Girl is pretty skanky. Already talking about doing porn--- after she gets a boob job.

Oh, she also says she wouldn't sleep with Obama because she has too much respect for him.

by Anonymousreply 1607/30/2013

She's in need of a face job much more than a boob job.

by Anonymousreply 1707/30/2013

Weiner is in it for Weiner and no one else.

If he was an effective and passionate politician, I might overlook the selfies. Although I'm not certain. He did use his position of power/notoriety to seduce much younger women who he thought were easy targets. That's creepy.

And the fact is, professionally, he's ineffective, caustic, and a serial liar about his indiscretions. He should withdraw, but it's okay if he doesn't. The voters aren't dumb enough to vote him into office anyway.

by Anonymousreply 1807/30/2013

The topic of ugly made me think of this...

by Anonymousreply 1907/30/2013

At this point he's just an embarrassment.

by Anonymousreply 2007/30/2013

He won't withdraw his weiner? Sounds hot.

by Anonymousreply 2107/30/2013

There's no shame anymore in having loose morals. Adultery is like a badge of honor. And this coarse woman bragging about this filth shows a lack of class, education and proper etiquette.

too much sleaze nowadays. And no regard for the children.

by Anonymousreply 2207/30/2013

He's pathetic.

by Anonymousreply 2307/30/2013

Down to 4th in the polls!

by Anonymousreply 2407/30/2013

[quote]0h man, this guy is far gone. Sending a big fuck you to the Clintons is a good way to seal his fate FOREVER.

I agree. He is a minor player in the Democratic Party compared to them and if he alienates them, he doesn't have much of a future.

by Anonymousreply 2507/30/2013

He's still better for NYC than Bloomberg's whore Quinn. I need to learn more about the other candidates but if were between 4 the rich only Quinn and Weiner I'd still vote for Weiner.

by Anonymousreply 2607/30/2013

Anthony Weiner.

Andy Dick.

Anthony Weiner.

Andy Dick.

Anthony Weiner.

Andy Dick.

I think Huma is trying to lay the groundwork for her eventual split from Weiner. She was seen very publicly dining with Philippe Reines, Hillary Clinton's spokesman at the State Department. If she's not communicating directly, she's sending messages out. Of course, the Daily Mail has the pictures.

by Anonymousreply 2807/31/2013

This is getting funnier by the moment. Seems like Weiner was marginalized within his campaign from the beginning. An intern wrote a piece for the NY Daily News saying, basically, nobody gives a shit about Weiner, they're there to try to connect with Huma to get an inside track for Clinton's '16 campaign.

by Anonymousreply 2907/31/2013

So what does Weiner's communications director do in response to the intern's story? She thought she was off the record. Um, no. Seems like her boss has rubbed off on her.

[quote]Now, Team Weiner is firing back. TPM called Weiner’s communications director Barbara Morgan to discuss an unrelated story Tuesday and she went off on a curse-filled rant about Nuzzi, describing her as a fame hungry “bitch” who “sucked” at her job. Morgan also called Nuzzi a “slutbag,” “twat,” and “cunt” while threatening to sue her.

[quote]“Fucking slutbag. Nice fucking glamour shot on the cover of the Daily News. Man, see if you ever get a job in this town again,” said Morgan.

[quote]“It’s all bullshit,” she said. “I mean, it’s such bullshit. She could fucking — fucking twat.”

by Anonymousreply 3007/31/2013

I heard Shepard Fairey was halfway through a 12K printing of Weiner signs that read "Lesson?" on the top, AW's face in the middle, and "Learned." on the bottom... that's when Fairey heard Weiner was still up to his old tricks. He stopped the printing, but roughly 2K of these Weiner posters exist. If you find one, it'll probably be worth a million dollars in twenty years. FYI.

Unleashing a barrage of expletives that would be unusual even in an off-the-record conversation, the chief spokeswoman for Anthony D. Weiner’s embattled campaign for mayor attacked a former campaign intern in an interview published on Tuesday night

Barbara Morgan, in an interview with Talking Points Memo, a political news site, was responding to a first-person account by Olivia Nuzzi, the former intern, who wrote harshly in The Daily News about her experiences with the campaign. Ms. Nuzzi claimed that Mr. Weiner repeatedly called interns by the wrong name, underpaid a staff with thin résumés and lied to his campaign about the scandal over his online conduct.

Ms. Morgan said that Ms. Nuzzi was a fame-seeking underachiever who “sucked” at her job. Ms. Morgan threatened to sue Ms. Nuzzi for claiming that Ms. Morgan had a thin résumé.

Ms. Morgan also referred to Ms. Nuzzi with several vulgar and sexist terms.

As news of the account spread through social media, Ms. Morgan apologized, saying that “in a moment of frustration, I used inappropriate language in what I thought was an off-the-record conversation. It was wrong and I am very sorry, which is what I said tonight when I called and e-mailed Olivia to apologize.”

Still, the episode was just the latest to rock a mayoral campaign that, within the space of a week, has gone from ascendant to imploding. Last week, Mr. Weiner admitted that he had exchanged sexually charged messages with women over the Internet, more than a year after he resigned from Congress over similar behavior. Then, over the weekend, his campaign manager quit, citing the scandal.

It was not clear whether Mr. Weiner, who released a Web video on Tuesday vowing to stay in the race, would retain Ms. Morgan. Until Tuesday night, Ms. Morgan, who has defended both popular public figures (Cory A. Booker) and not (Joel I. Klein) and was most recently the chief spokeswoman for New Jersey’s Department of Education, had been viewed by some reporters as doing a remarkably good job under unenviable circumstances.

On Tuesday, she was chased by television cameras as reporters repeatedly asked about the last time Mr. Weiner engaged in online sexual banter. Ms. Morgan, looking displeased, tapped away furiously on her phone as she parried the questions.

by Anonymousreply 3207/31/2013

Believing his not mentally ill, what's in it for him to stay in? Money?

by Anonymousreply 3307/31/2013

The woman on Stern, was she the latest woman or the original?

by Anonymousreply 3407/31/2013

Did he really promise his sexting chick an apartment for $ 5'000 that he could get through his contact?

Seriously I don't care about cheating bit using your position and contacts for favours for your lover (or even family) takes it too far.

by Anonymousreply 3507/31/2013

To be a fly in Clinton offices these days.

by Anonymousreply 3607/31/2013

I heard Huma is definitely planning to leave him as soon as the campaign is over (or after the election, whichever comes first). For some unknown reason she decided to stick with him thru this mayor's race, but then she's outtathere. With all her connections and money, too.

He'll end up hanging out in bars texting random young girls and telling the other barflies that he used to be famous.

by Anonymousreply 3707/31/2013

He should just get a divorce and experience all the sex with men that he so obviously needs.

by Anonymousreply 3807/31/2013

He and Elliott Spitzer should just hold hands and wander off to la-la land.

by Anonymousreply 3907/31/2013

Spitzer has already turned his back on Weiner.

by Anonymousreply 4007/31/2013

I would vote for Spitzer.

Huma needs to get out now if she wants to save her career. Hillary will cut her loose if she doesn't leave him. This thing with the campaign manager calling an intern a slut and cunt is the final straw.

by Anonymousreply 4108/01/2013

I'm sure Hilary is way...........over Huma. no penis shower will ruin her chance at being president.

by Anonymousreply 4208/01/2013

What the fuck kind of name is Huma? Israeli?

by Anonymousreply 4308/01/2013

now word is that Spitzer has been having an affair which no one is denying. . .

by Anonymousreply 4408/01/2013

Spitzer has been separated from his wife for some time. Weiners behavior is more disturbing because of its compulsiveness and extraordinarily poor judgment he has shown.

by Anonymousreply 4508/01/2013

I was wondering what the status of the Spitzers' marriage was. Poor Silda. I hope she moved on with her life after his resignation.

by Anonymousreply 4608/01/2013

Men are pigs, which is why you should elect a woman.

by Anonymousreply 4708/01/2013

It's been reported that Spitzer's marriage is over and that his wife is filing for divorce next month.
