Did Anyone See "Sinister"?

That's probably the first American horror film that disturbed me. The opening was horrifying.

It was so goddamned DARK, in the literal sense. Nobody can turn on a fucking lamp? And those ghost kids were stupid at the end. But the snuff stuff was well done.

Yeah, I know the ending...

The snuff films were excellently done! The tree hanging was hard to watch.

I rarely find a movie that actually scares me but this one did. I couldn't stop thinking about it for days.

I never had such reaction to an ending. On the one hand, I thought it was an awesome twist, on the other, I thought it was corny.

The ending didn't bother me - it made sense given what was happening and the selfishness of Ethan Hawke's character.

However, there's really no one to root for in this film. Hawke's character is a major jerk and the other characters are so underwritten.

But yes, the super 8 films of the murders were really effective. The one with the lawnmower really makes you jump.

Putting the ghost kids in there ruined it with the bad makeup and slow motion.

And the "shh" moments when they *pop* away are laughable.

Horror filmmakers have forgotten that less is more.
