WTF! Jerry Herman had a show called "Parade" in 1960. Jason Robert Brown made a musical with the same title in the 90's!

I'm wondering if we all just recycle the same thing over and over?

Maybe you're just trying (unsuccessfully) to be snarky and funny. But if you're serious, then you're too lazy or ignorant to have done a little research in order to find out that the Herman PARADE was a musical revue. It had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the JRB show, which is a very serious musical about the infamous Leo Frank case. Only the titles were the same.

This may come as a shocker to you, but lots of titles of songs, films, etc. have been re-used for very different kinds of properties.

I was being silly R1. Of course I knew JRB Parade is a serious musical with a sort of silly title. I knew Herman's was a revue. Just the oddest and most different juxtaposition of titles I have found.

I saw the JRB "Parade" and "The Scottsboro Boys" within a few weeks of each other last month. Depressing, but both great shows.

JRB's Parade was much funnier and more entertaining. We loved the part where the Jew gets hanged.

If you can remember the melodies of Jerry Herman's We Need a Little Christmas (from Mame) and It Takes a Woman (from Hello, Dolly!) you'll realize that the man stole from himself.

IIRC there's another song from Herman's Parade that was also recycled into Mame or Dolly. Anyone?

One of Herman's songs from Parade ("Show Tune") later became "It's Today!" in Mame.

So basically, the man just had 3 melodies in him?
