Adam Lambert Joining Season Five of “Glee”
|by Anonymous||reply 79||08/20/2013|
Joining a sinking ship certainly isn't going to help his flagging career.
|by Anonymous||reply 1||07/11/2013|
Kudos to Ryan Murphy for single-handedly trying to employ every out person he comes across, but this doesn't say good things about the state of Lambert's career.
|by Anonymous||reply 2||07/11/2013|
About time they replaced Sues' dead retarded sidekick character.
|by Anonymous||reply 3||07/11/2013|
[quote]Kudos to Ryan Murphy for single-handedly trying to employ every out person he comes across
I was thinking the same thing. Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, Cheyenne Jackson, Ricky Martin, Matt Bomer and now Lambert. Ryan Murphy has definitely used his platform to show off a lot of openly gay talent.
|by Anonymous||reply 4||07/11/2013|
Guess that County Fair Circuit isn't paying off too well...
|by Anonymous||reply 5||07/11/2013|
"Kudos to Ryan Murphy for single-handedly trying to employ every out person he comes across."
You mean every young and cute out gay man.
He's done shit for out lesbians.
|by Anonymous||reply 6||07/11/2013|
[quote]He's done shit for out lesbians.

[quote]He's done shit for out lesbians.
Right, except for having out lesbian Jane Lynch be the highest paid member of the cast who has won an emmy for her work on the show.
And having lesbian Dot Marie Jones play a popular character who has been nominated for an emmy twice for her work.
(Also hiring Portia De Rossi for Nip/Tuck etc)
You can talk a lot of shit about Ryan Murphy for a lot of things but being supportive to gay talent is something he does do.
|by Anonymous||reply 8||07/11/2013|
[quote]Ryan Murphy has definitely used his platform to show off a lot of openly gay talent.
I agree, and that's why I still watch Glee. Well, I still have about a third of the last season on the DVR, but I'll get to them eventually. And as ridiculous as the show gets, it makes me so happy it's on network TV every week. I would have killed to see any gay TV characters, let alone gay teens, when I was a gay teen myself.
I liked Adam Lambert on Idol. That was probably the last great season of that show. His solo career has been a disappointment, but I still like him as a personality. Actually, I was hoping he would show up as a judge on the next season of Idol.
|by Anonymous||reply 9||07/11/2013|
Jane Lynch was not well known when she joined GLEE.
He will bend over backwards to cast every cute young gay man under the sun, but he does not do the same for his fellow lesbians.
Those roles go to Kristin Chenowith, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson (the last two have questionable singing abilities to say the very least).
There are young lesbians in the theater who could have done those roles.
|by Anonymous||reply 10||07/11/2013|
Lambert may be out & proud but I still cannot stand his foofiness...
|by Anonymous||reply 11||07/11/2013|
[quote]Jane Lynch was not well known when she joined GLEE.
Well, yes, Glee did make Jane Lynch more famous. But she was in feature films, some huge hits, and certainly was not some unfamiliar face. Look at her film and TV work at the end of the link below.
I'm not trying to be a jerk here, but who are some obvious, out lesbians he should be hiring? The gay actors he's hired were already pretty high profile, except for the guy who plays Kurt.
|by Anonymous||reply 12||07/11/2013|
r12, he should've hired a surrogate to give birth to a dozen lesbians. He didn't because all he cares about is hot young male stars. And this is why I boil with rage whenever his name is mentioned.
|by Anonymous||reply 13||07/11/2013|
I'm not sure I know what you are talking about, R13 (?)
|by Anonymous||reply 14||07/11/2013|
Can we have one gay man on tv who isn't a femme princess? Is that too much to ask?
|by Anonymous||reply 15||07/11/2013|
Glamcbert alert at R9 R12 R14
|by Anonymous||reply 16||07/11/2013|
That isn't what he is, he's more emo/goth than femme. Yes he's somewhat stereotypical, but he's also masculine. I'll bet he's more masculine and sexy than you.
|by Anonymous||reply 17||07/11/2013|
[quote]Joining a sinking ship certainly isn't going to help his flagging career.
It's renewed for two more years so that's a lot of rent paid. He's really a strawberry blonde with freckles. I hope he choses to do his character without all the "drag" he does now.
[quote]About time they replaced Sues' dead retarded sidekick character.
Christ, the Down Syndrome Phobe is back. Simmer down.
|by Anonymous||reply 18||07/11/2013|
The two biggest gay stars on TV, Neil Patrick Harris and Matthew Bomer are not femme types at all. But you just wanted to bitch regardless of whether not it was true r15, didn't you?
|by Anonymous||reply 19||07/11/2013|
Is it 2009?
|by Anonymous||reply 20||07/11/2013|
[quote]You can talk a lot of shit about Ryan Murphy for a lot of things but being supportive to gay talent is something he does do.
I suppose that almost makes up for his love of child molestation imagery.
|by Anonymous||reply 21||07/11/2013|
I guess R16 is accusing me of being a Glambert?
I said I liked him on Idol. I would like to see him back as a judge. Beyond that, it's not like I follow his career or anything. I don't own any of his albums. I've heard some of his music and I thought it was crap.
I still don't understand what R13 is talking about.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||07/11/2013|
R21, you would be onto something if the Kit Walker character was the only one to see the aliens. He wasn't. And half the fucking characters on that show were "subjected to representations of sexual violence." Did you actually watch it?
The bulletin board thing is beyond ridiculous. We have a photo Christmas card of a friend's baby that's still on our fridge after a year, because we think it's a cute photo.
|by Anonymous||reply 23||07/11/2013|
Is the photo of your friend's baby symbolically placed beneath the crotch of an eroticized male torso?
|by Anonymous||reply 24||07/11/2013|
[quote]Is the photo of your friend's baby symbolically placed beneath the crotch of an eroticized male torso?
It looks like a novelty postcard from a gay gift store. Not my taste, so no, but I would not be on the phone with child services if I saw that up on someone else's fridge.
Some of you people here seem to have mental problems.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||07/11/2013|
[quote]He will bend over backwards to cast every cute young gay man under the sun, but he does not do the same for his fellow lesbians.
Like who? Sorry, there aren't that many out lesbian actress working in TV.
|by Anonymous||reply 26||07/11/2013|
[quote]Is the photo of your friend's baby symbolically placed beneath the crotch of an eroticized male torso?
You're the creepy twisted one.
|by Anonymous||reply 27||07/11/2013|
Will he have a "bromance" with the white kid with the yellow skin?
|by Anonymous||reply 28||07/11/2013|
Well, It's not that he has anything else to do.
|by Anonymous||reply 29||07/12/2013|
Why does Glee keep reminding us who is Jew and Who isn't? That shit is so annoying. I've never seen so many Jews on one tv show. I used to love the show. Now It's full of shitty story lines and awful singers. That new Rachel wannabe is so ugly.
|by Anonymous||reply 30||07/12/2013|
I really like Adam. I hope he doesn't stop making music.

Adam Lambert Walks Away from RCA:
|by Anonymous||reply 33||07/12/2013|
Two things I dislike, together at last, and all the more conveniently avoided that way.
|by Anonymous||reply 34||07/12/2013|
I've seen a few episodes of Glee, but never followed it. I like Adam and it does make it more likely I'll watch Glee, but still doubtful I'll end up a faithful viewer. If they give him lots of diva moments though, maybe.
|by Anonymous||reply 35||07/12/2013|
The man has balls of steel to tell RCA to go fuck itself. I have such respect for him. I don't understand why all you queens are always putting the guy down.
|by Anonymous||reply 36||07/13/2013|
Yes but he's walking away from his label because he doesn't want to do covers and is walking into "Glee" that usually only does covers.
|by Anonymous||reply 37||07/13/2013|
R33 Something is strange about this story of him CHOOSING to leave RCA because they wanted him to record a covers album and he didn't want to, yet he's going to go on a show where all he will be doing is singing covers of songs? Doesn't make a bit of sense.
I'm guessing that RCA dropped him, but allowed him to say he was leaving over "Creative differences" so it wouldn't look so bad. His last album flopped, and so did the singles, so it was only a matter of time before they "parted ways".
My only question is how does fellow Idol alum Jordin Sparks still have a deal at RCA? Her last album flopped and she hasn't had a hit since 2009. All of her last 4 singles completely flopped.
|by Anonymous||reply 38||07/13/2013|
His last album debuted at number one just last year. They probably didn't drop him and the cover album is true but he didn't want to spend the year doing covers for the album and "Glee".
|by Anonymous||reply 39||07/13/2013|
[quote]His last album debuted at number one just last year.
Yes, but it only sold 78,000 copies the first week and then flew down the charts. And the first single only went to #76 and the following singles didn't even chart.
|by Anonymous||reply 40||07/13/2013|
This is good for Adam. RCA is not known for taking chances and they didn't know what to do with him. Many artist have trouble working with them. His last album had some definite top 10 material with Pharrell and Nile Rogers who are both doing great on radio with similar material, but they made him record two boring songs after he handed in his album to put out as singles instead and then did nothing to promote them. I bet he was pissed they didn't let him release his own stuff.
Maybe radio just doesn't like playing out gay men and they knew he was a lost cause. Even Frank Ocean had a tough time with all his hype and a grammy.
|by Anonymous||reply 41||07/13/2013|

Tell me about it!
|by Anonymous||reply 42||07/13/2013|
Cory Monteith was not happy about this.
|by Anonymous||reply 43||07/13/2013|
Actually Adam is good friends with Darren Criss. Here he is in May escorting Darren's girlfriend Mia into a club.
|by Anonymous||reply 44||07/13/2013|
Here is one of Adam, looking hot, with Darren and Mia.
|by Anonymous||reply 45||07/13/2013|
If Adam joins the cast, I'm OUT OF HERE!
|by Anonymous||reply 46||07/14/2013|
So, R46, are you saying Cory was homophobic, or just a self-hating closeted gay?
|by Anonymous||reply 47||07/14/2013|
No r47, r46 is commenting on the coincidence of Cory leaving just as Adam is coming. The two stories broke at the same time.
|by Anonymous||reply 48||07/14/2013|
And by leaving, I mean this mortal coil. You have to spell everything out on DL.
|by Anonymous||reply 49||07/14/2013|
Darren Criss has a girlfriend??????
|by Anonymous||reply 50||07/14/2013|
I had no idea who Adam Lambert would play when we signed him to Glee last week, but I've now decided that he will be taking over the role of Finn Hudson.
|by Anonymous||reply 51||07/14/2013|
Adam Lambert will have a total of 5 minutes of camera time spread over 3 episodes just like every other guest has had. He isn't joining the cast per se. Glee has a bad habit of announcing that *insert guest* is joining Glee but they don't mean it as a regular cast member.
Adam was dropped from his record label 6 months ago. He was dodging the subject until he had something to distract away from the news of getting dropped. He was hoping to get a new label before having to admit being dropped but it never happened.
RCA was just the distributor for the Idol contestants.
|by Anonymous||reply 52||07/14/2013|
Actually Adam has been trying to get out from under the RCA contract for at least a year, since Barry Weiss moved over to UMG. The new leadership at RCA is very conservative, more so than any other label, and a bad fit for Lambert.
The editors at Billboard, the music industry publication, have been very supportive. Industry insiders are amazed at how poorly RCA marketed the last album, and the two singles (not representative of the album) that RCA forced Adam to release.
In fact, Adam himself has been sending out clues for weeks about leaving RCA and going to another label. I think that explains a tweet by a Billboard writer, hinting that there will be further news about a new record deal on Monday.
|by Anonymous||reply 53||07/14/2013|
I love Adam. He made some missteps after Idol (too glam, too drag) and squandered the momentum the show gave him. I hope Glee will help him recapture that wide exposure and showcase his amazing voice to a younger audience.
Adam likes to say he is always true to himself and does exactly what he wants to do--that he won't be led around like a puppet. Well that's all fine, but the road to obscurity is littered with artists who had too much integrity to sell out and give the masses what they want.
I always liked George Clooney's philosophy. In an interview once he said it was important to be a sell out early in your career, while you're still trying to make a name for yourself. Once you achieve a certain level of fame, box office clout and respect.....then you can do whatever the hell you want.
|by Anonymous||reply 54||07/14/2013|
Love this pic of Adam's Dad at SD Pride yesterday. Adam is so lucky to have two supportive parents who accept "the gay". Wish that we were all so lucky.
Maybe there would be fewer suicides by young gay people if they had this kind of parental support. (Almost sounds like an idea for an episode of GLEE.)
|by Anonymous||reply 55||07/14/2013|
Adam was dropped by his label in January.
|by Anonymous||reply 56||07/15/2013|
So, R56, you know more than Billboard and The Hollywood Reporter?
Interesting that Adam is getting great support from people in the business. The great Darren Hayes of Savage Garden (whom many compare Adam to) tweeted: "Totally support and admire @AdamLambert for sticking to his guns and not rolling over to make a covers record. Artists gotta be artists."
Nile Rodgers, who produced David Bowie's, Madonna's and Diana Ross' best albums, and guested on the should-have-been a single "Shady" with Adam and Sam Sparro, tweeted "See you soon my friend. You are KickASS & awesome". (Adam and Nile have reportedly been recording together, according to some tweets back in May or June.)
|by Anonymous||reply 57||07/15/2013|
Let's be honest...Adam Lambert's music is horrible. He does not have a very good singing voice he just screams everything in that high shrill tone.
|by Anonymous||reply 58||07/15/2013|
R58, you hear what you want to hear. But so many industry people wouldn't love Lambert if what you say were true. Opera singers and rock gods hear what you do not.
Rolling Stone rated Adam's TSP 4 stars out of 5. Check and you will see that is rare for any current artist, and certainly the highest rating they have given to anyone off a singing competition show.
|by Anonymous||reply 59||07/15/2013|
Adam will be fronting Queen for the group's only US appearance at this year's iHeart Music Festival in Las Vegas.
But then R58 must think that the legendary Brian and Roger do not have ears.
|by Anonymous||reply 60||07/15/2013|
to each his own - but his voice is not great at all. Despite Dr.Luke, Ryan Tedder, Max Martin and Linda Perry all writing songs for him his first record tanked. Trespassing got 4 out of 5 in rolling stone but is it selling?
|by Anonymous||reply 61||07/15/2013|
Adam will always have to deal with homophobes and haters. That's why his "It Gets Better" rings true. There will always be some who never get out of the hate-what-is-different mentality of high school.
He should be a great fit for GLEE.
|by Anonymous||reply 62||07/15/2013|
There is one mad glamcow on this thread. Just trolldar.
Ok, we know you are his biggest fan. Now GTFO.
|by Anonymous||reply 63||07/15/2013|
Whatdaya want from me, his top ten song, is great.
|by Anonymous||reply 64||07/15/2013|
R63, perhaps you are addressing me. I am not a "glamcow" and don't even know what that means. I am a gay man who appreciates Lambert's talent and his courage. To me, he is my "42". Like Jackie, he stands tall in the face of ignorance and intolerance.
I find it sad that on a gay website Adam has to face the same kind of bigotry and bullying he gets from fundies and right-wingers.
|by Anonymous||reply 65||07/15/2013|
I like Adam. I just cringe at his fans who invade every blog at the mention of his name. Armed with facts and defenses and fervent accolades.
His music to date is meh at best. He can't make up his mind about what he is, a musician/singer or a pop celebrity.
|by Anonymous||reply 66||07/15/2013|
At least Adam's not doing Summer Stock in New Hampshire.
|by Anonymous||reply 67||07/16/2013|
Oqunquit is not in New Hampshire, R67, it's in Maine.
|by Anonymous||reply 68||07/16/2013|
And once again, fans of other Idols go at it.
Bleeding ears and broken hands.
|by Anonymous||reply 69||07/16/2013|
I think Adam's a fine singer, he's been my favorite Idol, and it's just a bonus that he's gay. I wouldn't like him just for that, I don't like Clay Aiken's singing just because he's gay. I think Clay's a standup guy for coming out and going on talk-shows doing a good job representing our side. But I don't care for Clay's music that much, although he is listenable with the right song.
|by Anonymous||reply 70||07/16/2013|
New Hampshire/Maine - WTF is the difference?
It's still a shitty place to end up.
|by Anonymous||reply 71||07/16/2013|
2 songs from his last CD are really hot club songs: Kicking In and Shady. Download them and you'll see.
|by Anonymous||reply 72||07/16/2013|
Clay Aiken is the far superior singer and he has a certain dignity that Adam can't even pretend to. Is he really doing "Joseph"?
|by Anonymous||reply 73||07/25/2013|
"...he has a certain dignity"
You're mistaking "dignity" for the unmoving plastic surgery horror of a face he has, and the pained look from living 24/7 with a closet buttplug for years.
|by Anonymous||reply 74||07/25/2013|
I'm pretty sure the plastic surgery rumors are just the work of haters. Since I was in the closet with my butt plug till I came out should I hate myself for not being ready when you think I should? You're a hater and a homophobe.You're over 50, female and in lust with a young gay man you protect as fiercely as you would your own calf.
|by Anonymous||reply 75||07/25/2013|
Clay Aiken has a "certain dignity" ????
OMG. You gave me my biggest laugh of the week.
|by Anonymous||reply 76||07/25/2013|
I like him and think he's cute.

Adam is back in the EDM scene (where he should have been all along).
Avicii feat. Nile Rodgers & Adam Lambert - Lay Me Down
|by Anonymous||reply 78||07/31/2013|
Nile Rodgers just posted a picture of Adam and MysterySkulls "in the studio with Avicii and me". I know Nile has also tweeted, in the last few days, about writing more songs with Adam. I think it is safe to say Adam will have some new music out soon.
Nile, who produced the best albums David Bowie, Madonna, and Diana Ross ever did, has become a mentor to Adam, and that is a good thing.
