You clearly don't understand context or subtext. CLEARLY.
The "homoerotic" scenes on True Blood are often far more in the vein of 'gay panic' than of anything remotely pro-gay. This scene was a perfect example of that. It was not about sex, it was about Ben having mind-raped Jason and how the dream is a warning about Ben being a vampire. As Jason's grandfather later deduced.
R26 is particularly nuts.
The primary gay character was one of the big bads, Russell. A campy, evil, vindictive, and ruthless killer. His 'relationship' was fairly asexual, and it was mostly a mechanism through which Eric could exact his revenge. The boy toy's 'sex scene' with Eric was a joke...some kissing, but no sex. The only penetration was when Eric flips him around then impales him through the back. Hardly a pro-gay metaphor for gay sex,
Lafayette is a woman. The actor is playing him as a woman. Right down to the head scarf, the hand on his hip, and the nurturing caretaking. You can argue that Lafayette is transgender far more than his being a gay man. He's not even playing it flamboyantly enough to be a gay femme man. His character is a woman. A sort of southern fried Divine.
Eric is supposedly bisexual, yet other than his revenge killing of Russell's lover, he's been pretty straight.
Then you have a couple of dreams where men ALMOST kiss but never do.
Sorry, but this is not a homoerotic show. It teases out a few things here and there, but it's exploitative. They know if they throw out a few crumbs they'll get dimbulbs like you two.
Now, if they followed up on the Ben and Jason thing, that might be different. You could easily write Jason as a seriously repressed closet case, particulary given his fear of being thought of as gay. But TB aint gonna go there. Never.
