The only American interview he's given so far is to Fox and Friends. Where else will he find allies but at a Murdoch network?
More proof Glenn Greenwald is no friend of the left
|by Anonymous||reply 35||07/10/2013|
OP, I have seen Greenwald interviewed several times on MSNBC since the Snowden story broke. And while many at MSNBC challenge him (O'Donnell, whom he debates heatedly with, has him on very frequently, and clearly respects him though he has tried, quite ineffectively, to challenge him; his Morning Joe interviews have gotten very different responses from each member of the panel), he also has many at that network who report on him fairly there, including Chris Hayes and Rachel Maddow.
Moreover, Greenwald has also been interviewed on Meet the Press by David Gregory since the story broke, where he completely made a fool of Gregory (as he has with O'Donnell).
Why would you call Greenwald no friend to the left? He is a reporter. He broke an important news story. The fact that the story is critical of the Obama administration's security policy, doesn't make him a foe of the left.
Moreover, even if you question Greenwald's leftist orientation, the issue here isn't how we feel about Greenwald. It isn't how we feel about Snowden and his motives.
The issue is this: is the NSA involved in overreaching into our private lives and should we work to put an end to that.
Hats off to Greenwald for bringing that issue to life.
So, OP, you are completely wrong.

Glenn Greenwald was also interviewed by Savannah Guthrie for The Today Show.

He's been on CNN several times. In fact, for several days, he seemed to be on there every few hours.
|by Anonymous||reply 3||07/02/2013|
The only way that being critical of the Obama administration would make Greenwald "no friend of the left" is in the view of those stupid enough to think of Obama as "left". Puh-leeze. Obama is bought and owned by GoldmanSachs. He isn't even in the left wing of the plutocracy.
Bravo to Greenwald for exposing this.

[quote]Why would you call Greenwald no friend to the left?
Because he's a right-leaning libertarian fuckwad?
He's no friend of the left.

Folks, that you believe something with all your heart does not make it fact.
Obama did not break the law with PRISM. Neither did NSA. That you think he did means you haven't been paying attention.
We had the discussion about FISA oversight of NSA surveillance 2006-2008. The discussion was not held in secret.
Now, if you wish to have a discussion of whether it should be illegal, fine. But claiming Obama broke law is just untrue.

I never trusted Greenwald or Snowden from the beginning and more and more has come out to prove I was right. They are nothing but Obama hating, Ron Paul loving assholes.
[quote]So let's talk about this man that has been granted hero status by the Left's loudest prognosticators and provocateurs. The transcripts released by Ars Technica are about a lot more than Snowden's previous contempt for leakers. He hated social security, loved Ron Paul and his ideas, and peddled the NRA's garbage about fighting the government with guns. He suggested punishing both leakers and publications that publish the leaks. All in all, Edward Snowden is a right wing, anti-government nutjob who has managed to become the hero of so many on the reactionary Left.

Being hated by the mainstream socialist Dems and neocon Reps is a sign you're dong the right thing.
Here's a link to Greenwald speaking at the World Socialism Conference 3 days ago.
The man is a fucking balls to the wall hero.
|by Anonymous||reply 13||07/02/2013|
He's no hero.

Greenwald was every bit if not more critical of George W. Bush than he has been of Obama, and for the exact same reasons.
He wrote several books trashing the Bush administration in addition to regularly trashing it in his Salon column.
Greenwald is simply being consistent. He's critical of Obama for the same reasons he was critical of Bush.
Honestly, you Obamabots are even bigger idiots than Freepers are.

How do you come up with this crap?
My parents were genuine socialists. Believe me when I say they were neither mainstream nor liberal by today's definition.

I'm always the "outside man" here due to my Anarchist politics, but when brain dead morons try to claim Greenwald is a libertarian I have to laugh. Just because he attacks Obama the Messiah doesn't make him a libertarian.
Maybe one day they will be able to look at the US circa 2000-2013 and see that their socialist impulses combined with their support of corporatist banks were the reason the USA died.

R6, there is no exiting US statute that authorizes mass surveillance of United States citizens or our allies. None. And yet that is exactly what the NSA has been doing.
'The Criminal NSA' editorial in this past Sunday's NYT gives a concise overview of the illegalities, and the administration's flimsy legal rationalization.
|by Anonymous||reply 21||07/02/2013|
As long as faux liberals like r8 still worship Obama/government as God, nothing will happen.
Real liberals have learned that the only path is radical decentralization of power- google "Mises" or "Rothbard" and you will see how to fix it.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||07/02/2013|
Yea you guys who worship snowden an greenwald have been taken for the morons you are. This guy started out with a supposed good cause of defending the rights of Americans ending up now exposing real secrets of our spying on other countries. Snowden didnt expose anything aboout Domestic spying that anybody that was paying attention would notice all he did was use fancy slides to do it and then when thst did not work gave up secretd about our covert cia international ops. He is a traitor through and through and so is Greenwald

Maybe so, but with much less fervor. MSM is much harder on Obama and his antagonists are chomping at the bit and foaming at their mouths.

R27 and R27 , I am sure you are the same Log Cabin fuckwads. I would ask what part I was lying about but I am certain that you can't come up with it. You argued the grammer and coud not come up with an argument why you support a traitor. Probably because you sympathize with one due to your being a traitor to gay people. Just to help you out with facts the so-called Obama phone program was started in 1996 under Clinton.

I'm assuming you are referring to Greenwald and the articles he penned while Bush was Monkey in Chief.
Perhaps you are referring to this screed where he calls the entire GOP to task and suggests Bush is a modern day Hitler.
Greenwald was very supportive of Obama during his first campaign, but like Snowden and myself, became disillusioned when Obama turned out to be just like Bush. Obama is arguably worse, because at least while Bush was president the "Left" didn't give him a break they way they do with Obama.
