Henry Cavill versus Daniel Craig as James Bond

Cavill has expressed interest for the role as well as auditioning (didn't make it for the role) for James Bond.

Do you think Henry Cavill would make a good James Bond.

On another note, will Henry have a career after his looks fade. Maybe he can pray that he will have good genes like Tom Cruise thereby prolonging his career.

Can we stop with the Cavill threads?

And no, Cavill isn't nearly charismatic enough to do James Bond. The entire James Bond persona relies on charisma.

A very cool choice would be Idris Elba, he would kill the role, and watching people flip out over the casting would be hilarious.

Is he trying to follow in Pierce Brosnan's footsteps?

Because he could do worse. Brosnan turned a beautiful face and minimal talent into a long career, one that kept going after his looks faded.

Tammy has had work done. Do we still count her???

Not sure how many more Bonds Daniel Craig still has in him - I do like his more pugilistic looks vs. the suave Bonds we've seen before. His entire presence gave this series a nice jolt that it needed badly.

Cavill would definitely be more in the Brosnan style which had worn very thin, and is probably why he wasn't hired.

I never saw any of the Timothy Dalton Bond films, but I understand he had more of an angry attitude which might have been interesting. But the quality of the films themselves disintegrated so badly during the Roger Moore years that I stopped bothering to see them until Craig came along.

I like Daniel Craig's craggy old face. He was great in Girl With the Dragon Tatoo. I haven't watched a Bond movie since the last one with Connery. The only Bond that counts.

Why does anyone think Cavill's career will go much beyond the Superman film? It hasn't set many records (if any).

by Anonymousreply 807/10/2013

R7, Craig is indeed definitely 'craggy faced', thanks to his several pack a day nicky habit.

He claims he's 45...looks more like 55, at least from the neck up.

If Cavill knew how to act it might work.

I guess Cavill was up for it, but that really does surprise me considering he was only 21/22 at the time.

Old article. My apologies it's from the DM:

[quote]Last updated at 17:10 11 October 2005

[quote]He has just proved his lady-killing credentials by seducing Sienna Miller from under the nose of his friend, Jude Law.

[quote]Now Daniel Craig is about to become the biggest seducer of all - Ian Fleming's James Bond.

[quote]The actor, who found fame as Geordie in the BBC series Our Friends in the North in 1996, got the job after an 18-month mission to replace Pierce Brosnan.

[quote]Scores of others, including Law himself, Ewan McGregor, Colin Farrell and Orlando Bloom, were considered but rejected.

[quote]Shortlist of two

[quote]In the end a shortlist of two emerged - Craig and newcomer Henry Cavill. The pair were auditioned again and tried on tuxedos to see how they would look in the quintessential Bond clothing.

[quote]Craig, 37, whose choice will be confirmed by producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson later this week, will be the sixth Bond, but the first blond.

[quote]He will star in the 21st Bond film, based on Ian Fleming's first book Casino Royale.

[quote]Craig has said he does not like the fact that the films are more about gadgets than feelings.

[quote]He added: "It's a big machine and it makes a lot of money - so why would you change something that makes a lot of money?"

What a joke! Cavill was way too young. Why did they bother, were they thinking of Bond Jr.? They wasted his time auditioning him. But I'm sure it was a flattering experience for him.

Some of you can't wait for Henry's looks to fade... well, you're going to be waiting for a very, very long time. This kid has a long career ahead of him.

by Anonymousreply 1207/10/2013

NEITHER!

by Anonymousreply 1307/10/2013

Tom Hardy would make an awesome Bond.

by Anonymousreply 1407/10/2013

Henry has charisma. You should see him in bed.

by Anonymousreply 1507/10/2013

If only Heath Ledger, Henry Cavill or Daniel Craig would beat the shit out of the OP until he stopped posting these vapid, obsessive threads, but I guess that's too much to hope for.

by Anonymousreply 1607/10/2013

Maybe they just wanted to see Cavill in the suit, just like with Superman. It seems it's all about how he "looks" in the costumes rather than his actual acting. I think that's the reason he will have a relatively long career. People like looking at him, acting chops be damned.
