Look at this, tasteful friends... Liberace's old Las Vegas digs go begging at $523,000

Never again will the world know such sublime good taste.

Renovated, that could be the governors mansion of Caftania.

Klassy joint...

by Anonymousreply 206/26/2013

We should all chip in and buy it to use as the new DataLounge Clubhouse!

Strict caftan-only policy!

And, R3, ranks of pool boys, Chads and Grants all of them, flitting about with silver trays of Jordan almonds (in pastels).

His ghost reportedly haunts the halls.

by Anonymousreply 606/26/2013

I had a taxi drive me by it when I was in Vegas. It was ghastly tacky in 1998, I'll bet it's a real MacArthur Park melting in the sun now.

by Anonymousreply 706/26/2013

What a dump! It looks like an abandoned Bar Mitzvah mill in Lakewood.

by Anonymousreply 806/26/2013

So, Scott Thorson. They drummed you out of Vegas. So you come crawling back to BroadWay Well Broadway don't go for pills and booze. Now get outta my way. I got an offer on an old queen's house waitng for me.

by Anonymousreply 906/26/2013

I just did a Google street view on it. Not the greatest looking of neighborhoods. There seems to be a few abandoned homes on the block and some sort of homeless center across the street. Its like half a mile from the airport.

by Anonymousreply 1006/26/2013

Horrible. Why does it appear to be in the middle of a busy street/commercial area?

by Anonymousreply 1106/26/2013

Yes, I too couldn't help noticing how it was placed on a public street--nowadays, celebrities feel like they have to live in bunkers behind walls.

by Anonymousreply 1206/26/2013

I think it was originally a couple houses, it's in a real average neighborhood, even when he bought it, it wasn't Beverly Hills by any stretch...although, Vegas didn't have much to offer in residential back then.

by Anonymousreply 1306/26/2013

From the looks of the other homes, it seems like the neighborhood was built in early to mid 60s. Was the airport always where it is now? You could walk to the runway from there.

by Anonymousreply 1406/26/2013

I can't imagine how much it costs to keep the place from turning into an oven in the Vegas summers, with that huge greenhouse solarium. And it reminds me of the down-at-the-heels casinos you see everywhere in Nevada, the taste is totally "Vegas".

For that price, it could be turned into a GLBT community center, or a home for gay youth. Certainly there's enough space for the latter.

by Anonymousreply 1506/26/2013

THANK YOU! I was just trying to explain what "tacky" meant to a friend who just moved here from Estonia. He's got it now.

by Anonymousreply 1606/26/2013

I wonder how long its been empty. It must stink in there and is probably riddled with bugs.

by Anonymousreply 1706/26/2013

How depressing.

by Anonymousreply 1806/26/2013

I have an Effiel Tower in my Vegas living room, peasants

[quote]Why does it appear to be in the middle of a busy street/commercial area?

All the better to lure in delivery boys on bicycles.

by Anonymousreply 2006/26/2013

2 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, 15,000 square feet, WTF?

by Anonymousreply 2106/26/2013

What A Dump!

by Anonymousreply 2206/26/2013

Overpriced.
