Out Late

Has anyone seen this movie? I watched it on Netflix and thought it was depressing. Old people who did not come out until very VERY late in life. One woman was 79. I just could not get past the fact that even though, yes, of course, "better late than never," but I wonder how much happiness they even have now that they are out in their senior years. The bald guy has some friends who he does some "intimate touch" things with or whatever the hell its called. It looks like the old guy DOES get some sex, so that is nice. Most are not partnered or even seem to have a steady relationship. And how likely ARE they to find that at that age? If that is what they want, I mean. Anything is possible and hope springs eternal but..what are the odds? They all seem happy, to a degree, but I saw a sadness in all their eyes, behind the veneer.

And this is might sound horrible AND stereotypical but there is not an attractive one in the bunch. Not old. Not young. Not really. Just "ordinary" people. Which, I suppose, most people are. But it just didn't have the "theatricality" or emotion to it all had there been an element of "lost beauty," "lost youth and opportunity" or that they were now silver haired daddies or attractive older women. I wonder how happy (at least the men) would have been if they HAD come out when they were young. I mean, they were no Montgomery Clifts or Rock Hudsons. Kind of dorky and plain people. Nothing wrong with that, of course, and it is the people inside that matter. Looks fade. I just think, given the brutal gay culture stereotypes, that these old people who have been rather invisible if they HAD been out when young. You would not look twice at them in a gay bar. But maybe someone would have. Now I'm rambling. Thoughts?
