I'm red and itchy all over. Doesn't housekeeping disinfect these things after people depart?
I just broke out in a rash after lying on the bedspread in my hotel room.

Perhaps you're allergic or sensitive to the detergent they use to wash them or the dry cleaning chemicals...

I don't know what it is. I just checked in tonight. It's a cheap motel over the nj border. Staying here til my new apt in manhattan is ready on the 1st. Was lying down surfing the net, and suddenly my body started to itch and I noticed a red rash, mostly on my forearms. I don't think it's scabies or bed bugs. Maybe an allergy.

Motel 6 bedspreads: We'll leave the blight on for ya.

Never lie down on those gross bedspreads, no matter how tired you are. Turn them down, right away (then look closely at the sheets for bed bugs).

The first thing I do when I enter a hotel room is to crumple up those bedspreads and toss them into a corner. They are not washed after every visit, and are nasty, bacteria-ridden things. So gross.

You made bare skin contact with a motel bedspread? Are you [italic]insane[/italic]?
|by Anonymous||reply 12||06/20/2013|
True, R11. Also, clean all drinking glasses before use. Take Purell or those travel sizes of Lysol to clean the remote control, door knobs and other surfaces where the previous guest's butt scratching fingers have left cooties. Seriously.

they never wash the bed spreads.....also wipe the remote down

Oh for heaven's sake! We were all staying in hotels and motels for ages without "disinfecting" anything. Many of us shopped at the supermarket without first wiping down our carts with a disinfectant wipes. We rode our bikes without helmets and we rode in cars without car seats or seat belts!
How do you delicate flowers even survive now?

Those bedspreads are evil. If I see one when I walk into a hotel room, I know I've fucked up. I immediately take them off the bed(s), turn them upside down, and make a pathway to the bathroom.

I have no sympathy for you.

You made your bed. Now it's living on you.
|by Anonymous||reply 20||06/20/2013|
Do you not travel enough to not know that they never wash those bedspreads?
|by Anonymous||reply 21||06/20/2013|
I brought lysol disinfectant wipes with me, and I did wipe down the remote, desk and mini-fridge. Honestly never occurred to me not to touch the bedspread. Rash on my forearms seems to be subsiding, but rest of my body is just itchy.

You're lucky if they wash the sheets.
Stay off the fucking bedspread and don't go barefoot.

Is your name Jayden?
Because there is a chance that peanuts or gluten were once brought within the room.

When we changed out the bedspreads, we ordered about 10% more than our number of rooms. This is because inevitably some would be destroyed, not becuse there was any kind of cleaning rotation.
When you wrestle around on the bed next time, remember the last person put his suitcase there, fresh from its journey through the Bombay airport. Then, he sat down naked and made a phone call.
